Hi All,
I got a note 4 (N910SKSU1ANJ1 build) and want to remove the branding with a stock rom, what one do i need? I am a bit of a n0b with this so want to double check before i brick this using odin or whatever.
thought it best to ask here.
my note is the exynos model.
than you.
N910L from korea too
And full of stock app
You mean the L version can be flashed on the S?
Now i think you shouldnt root your phone and wait for Lollipop coming at end november
All the models in Korea are from an operator, so all have some stuff inside.
You can flash S/L/K from the different operators.
can i flash a rom that will have no branding? if not i will wait for the lollipop update.

Only custom roms.
Can i flash U f/w?
SM-N910U(Samsung Exynos 5433)------[HongKong,Taiwan,Australia,New Zealand,Chile]------{TDD-LTE+FDD-LTE+WCDMA+GSM} 【Firmware:N910UXXU1ANIF】
or this one?
SM-N910C(Samsung Exynos 5433)------[Asia,Europe,South America]------{FDD-LTE+WCDMA+GSM}【Firmware:N910CXXU1ANIF】
I already flashed the latest f/w for the S model with the Korean telco SKT, I would like f/w as close to stock as possible, SKT has annoying pop up on the boot screen, it thinks i am roaming...! (am in the UK)
thanks.!
I got the U f/w, its from a New zealand carrier, is this ok to flash i wonder?

usually you can flash these to remove any branding, but i know its so new custom roms will take time.
if i flashed the U/C f/w would i brick it?
I dont want korean apps or pop up on the boot screen, my main grip at the moment.!

What's battery life like on your S model? What UK network are you with?
I think it would be ok to flash but without the U or C radios. You flash at your own risk though!
I'm getting the S version and will try the U firmware as its closer to the S than the C is. I'm not liking the sound of the phone thinking it's roaming! Battery drain
I have not taken much notice on the battery., its a day or so. I have not monitored much.
I get a pop up every time i boot up about roaming and activating data? (in English).
I am with 3 but the phone is unlocked, I have all the exynos f/w ready to flash, I just want to double check before i do it..
and yes, its rare. not many have exynos models in the uk.

Congratulations on your exynos model. Hope you're enjoying it. I will soon have my S model, would have preferred the C, I'm on three UK too so we'll be in the same boat.
Please let me know what screen brightness level you use and what kind of screen on time you get, please

the phone is smashing, no worries on that end, i have auto brightness and have not noticed anything. i got 48324 with the an tutu bench mark too, so all is well on the performance front :good:
i will do a battery check now and post back. I currently have the latest S f/w from the korean teleco.
Thank you so much. Let's see some screen shots!
And is fast charging working? As we'll have to use their funny Korean to UK adaptor lol
fast charging is very good, works fine.
plug is no problem, i got a shaver type plug you can get 2 pin adapters for uk use anywhere.

it got a power saving mode too btw, you can apparently get crazy number of hours 'extra' with it activated when power is low, 10% or so. the screen will probably be very hard to see at that rate but hey ho...!

what are your thoughts on flashing the other roms (C & U)? when i boot into the android root update screen its all korean, so i am a bit worried i wont have a clue what to do,...
i cant imagine you can brick it by flashing them but just want to get others views? I got a Galaxy S4 in Thailand last year and it was 100% english off the box, also a exynos model, wonder can you flash Thai f/w with this?

Hey guys in my earlier thread some ppl told me that i could update from asian firmware to european firmware. I would like to knw if there would be any problems by doing that, and would like to know ur experiece after flashing.. Thanx for ur replies. I don mind waiting an extra month for asian firmware release if u feel flashing can be problematic, if not i'll b happy to flash.
Ps: I knw a thread like this is available but there are no conclusive answers there. Thanx.
I like to know too. I hope no issue here other than losing the Asian keyboards. I assume one could still get a third party keyboard for say, chinese characters input.
Ya i recieved a reply in hardware zone forum, ppl have upgraded their firmwares from dd or dx to xx, xw (european). No problems were found, infact performance increased a little bit. One of the guys told me not to update cause firmwares released in europe tend to be buggy like beta versions, only final versions are released in asia and other places thats why updates are few. So if i were u i'd wait for firmware to release in my region.. Wat's u take on this? Do u still wanna flash ur phone or do u wanna wait a month extra......
I personally haven't had any issues with the euro fw to speak of. Like doomsdaycs mentioned I definitely experienced performance increase and even more once i installed the modaco rom. I ran the latest JG3 for a few days and it was great then i wanted the modaco rom so I reflashed with JG1 and it's still had no problems. Hope that helps...

That's utter rubbish.
Went from APAC to Euro firmwares, and never looked back.
Let me ask you guys who have gone over to the European firmware a few questions:
1) Has it fixed the 3G/wifi connection problem? (I hope you do not dispute that there is problem )
2) Has the lags/pause gone away? Or just minimized?
3) Has your GPS started to work accurately yet?
4) Does your email still takes ages to load? Or just become less slow?
5) Does the music playing still pause/freeze once in a while?
6) Anyone still able to install stuffs like Chinese keyboards from the Android market place after adopting the Europe firmware?
7) Do you have problem with the market place like what these people say?

Thanks for sharing.
Let me ask you guys who have gone over to the European firmware a few questions:
1) Has it fixed the 3G/wifi connection problem? (I hope you do not dispute that there is problem )
Answer: You need to create a new APN in order to use the 3G network. As for WIFI.. I am able to connect to any WIFI as long as I have the password.
2) Has the lags/pause gone away? Or just minimized?
Answer: Kinda but you will still experience it even with the JG5 firmware.. rumor has it that samsung will release an official fix for this on the end of july but there is no official word from samsung.. all we can do is cross our fingers and hope or best alternative.. use modaco's fix.
3) Has your GPS started to work accurately yet?
Answer: Yup, compared to the stock firmware, it is able to identify my location within a 5 meter radius.
** upgrade to the latest google maps version.
4) Does your email still takes ages to load? Or just become less slow?
Answer: Google.. first time setup.. yes. But now, depending on your location and signal strength.. takes about 8 - 15 seconds.. longer with 2 bars on my phone.. about 30 seconds or so. [GMAIL]
5) Does the music playing still pause/freeze once in a while?
Answer: When I am playing Let's Golf with very low volume then listening to music using the default player at level 6 - 7 volume. I do experience it sometime..
6) Anyone still able to install stuffs like Chinese keyboards from the Android market place after adopting the Europe firmware?
Answer: I am able to install Google Pinyin.. the qwerty keyboard still shows ABC but when you press each letter.. it will show the chinese character equivalent.
7) Do you have problem with the market place like what these people say?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7232231#post7232231
Answer: Weird case, never experienced that issue on my SGS after doing 3 firmware upgrades.
And no, I haven't rooted my phone yet.. hoping to hear from samsung by the month's end to know if they finally release a firmware fix for the memory transfer issue [NAND].

I second that.
The ASIAN version to be honest.. is full of crap from the TELCO's which renders the phone perform slower.. and I'd like to add that, my phone starts and loads faster now without the singtel crap.
Thank you M3keni. I'm glad it looks so positive.

You are welcome bro.
Disclaimer though.. other users may have a different take on my experience with my SGS.. hehehe.
..seriously, samsung should fix the NAND issue with an update firmware soon.
..but we have hardworking developers to go to for MODS.. iLike!
Before you decide and buy the SGS, visit your nearest telco showroom to try and feel the phone. Will help in your decision.
Have a good weekend!
Thanx for the info i'll be flashing madoco rom too.. cheers..
I'm waiting for the Froyo that's supposedly 3 times faster than iPhone 3GS. As it is now, it is a lot slower than even iPhone 3G. The black screen and long pauses is beginning to get to me.
I'm hesitant to root now as I'm uncertain about the hardware aspect of GPS, and my fear that the process might not be fully reversible, hence voiding the warranty potentially.
i have a question that how to upgrade the firmware from Asian to EUR use kies without root??????
i want to change that but have no idea, thx
yes please, even I need to know how to flash my Singtel FW to the eu version like the friends above mentioned. Mainly I want to do this without rooting...!!
And once after upgrading, will it allow me to upgrade to froyo when it is officially released!!! via Kies or OTA.

Can you suggest the fw number of the official euro firmware that you are using now so I can install as well.
No problem at all dude.
Flashed from DDJF3 to XWJG1 (Indian to some European country)... JF3 had major issues... JG1 is good... not great though. Most of the problems of the stock firmware were resolved by Modaco's Custom ROM... try it out!
You guys should give the new firmware JM1 or JM2 a twirl. The difference is night and day...no joke..and that's before root and any modifications.
@netboyhk I initially used this as my starting point http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpWcM44On88
Note that in the video he says it HAS to be on a specific com port....ignore that part. It's all relative to how many usb ports u have and how many devices plugged in etc etc. From my experiences it's REALLY hard to brick this phone but your mileage may vary
I think you mean JM1 and JM2 - unless Samsung's moving faster on firmware than I thought...

Hey guys, I know this has been posted before, but I need to know specifically where my phone is from..I have the SM-G900M. I think this model is very rare. I hardly see any posts regarding it. I live in the USA on TMobile. When I do a search, I am finding different countries...Brazil, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Chile, Panama. Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Is there anything in "About phone" that can allow me to pinpoint which country?
I am having issues with the power button not always waking up my device, so I wanted to know if a software update will fix it. My device is telling me that the latest software is G900MUBU1ANCE; however, doing a search online, I am finding another update, G900MUBU1ANE2. I need to know which is the most up to date. Any feedback on this would be great!

Hi man,
This is indeed the Latin American model.
This G900MUBU1ANE2 is the latest update however I have not tested yet.
After I update my other phone Galaxy S3 LTE from JB 4.2.2 to JB 4.3 and get the KNOX as a bonus I am always afraid of updating.

Thanks for this! Just discovered my phone's software ties to Trinidad and Tobago. They are still stuck on the previous firmware. Wish I knew when the update would be rolling out for all SM-900M's. This power button thing is driving me crazy and I know it's software related because it doesn't happen all the time. I don't want to have to send my phone all the way to the Caribbean and back only to hear that they were not able to replicate the issue.

Yes, I had.
I have this phone for about one month now and I remember having this issue during the first week, It would take too long for the screen to light up after pressing the power button. I sideloaded Google Now Launcher and the problem went away.
Yesterday I update the firmware for the version above and everything is good so far. I´m using the standard TouchWiz.

GCI is my service provider and my G900M is made in Vietnam.
planning to travel to US and buy one of the variants of the S5 to use it in Mexico. Do you think the 'A' variant would be a better choice than 'M'? I want to make sure that whatever phone I buy will get the latest and greatest official/OTA Android version or at least there is enough ROM development to support a few years of usage.
BTW, is Samsung providing official OTA for 5.1.1 on this variant?
Bought a N-910S. That's what's floating around these parts, was a good deal, didn't think much of it.
But after the usual trip to XDA to find a good debloated, fancified Touchwiz based latest and greatest, I come to see ....
Not much of anything.
It's all 910C, 910H, whatever, but no 910S. Yikes. Yikes?!
What gives? Googled, searched, read, can't figure it out. No love for the 910S? Do I need to open my living room window super wide and throw this thing as far as I can? What will happen to the 5.1 update, and me-never-ever-getting-it?
Omg. Stop me from going crazy right now. Shed some light on this totally human life existential drama question.

Surely you jest. I would rather have the S version than the H version. At least you get LTE unlike me with my H version.
Well ... no LTE-A on any of the prepaid carriers here.
What about ROMs? Does nobody know? I quietly wonder if ROMs from any other 910x might work but not finding answers via search.

The N910S is the equivanlent of the N910F in South Korea. There's not much info about it in internet, they seem to be the same device hardware-wise. They both use the same SoC and Modem so maybe N910F roms are cross-compatible with your device (They MAY be compatible or may not, If you want to use a N910F rom, do It at your own risk. Remember that a different rom in a non-compatible device would result in a hardbrick so be carefull). Download a N910F custom rom, delete the "modem" folder and flash it to your device via CWM, it may work.

Good one appreciate the insight. Though... worried about hard brick.
They have to be selling millions of these 910s. This one came straight from Korea, s/l must be a big market. Odd that there'd be no demand and supply of ROM goodness, yea?
i'm still relatively new to this "having a non modded phone that gets official updates" thing, so the questions i bring up might be stupid
i've been talking to a friend that has the exact same phone that i have (galaxy s7 edge g-935F), his phone is on G935FXXU1APDH whereas mine is still on G935FXXU1APCD
phones aren't carrier locked/branded, exact same model, only difference being he lives in the UK while i live in germany
my firmware is months old too and even worse, according to this site ( http://www.sammobile.com/2016/04/26...-s7-galaxy-tab-3-lite-galaxy-note-5-and-more/ ) i'm supposed to be on a far newer firmware already, yet my phone brings up nothing whenever i manually check for updates (look for Germany (O2)(VIA))
does anyone know what is causing this because if i'll be stuck with the months old firmware, i'd rather root this thing and throw a custom rom on it
update: got sick of waiting and manually ODIN'd a much newer version on it, am now on G935FXXU1APEQ
by the way my battery life is a bit better now
Honestly, we went back to older firmwares for the battery life. Maybe your phone is telling you that might be a good thing for now [emoji23]

nope, still as stuck on APCD as ever
honestly by this point, if you're feeling lucky, you might as well just look into ODINing an update onto your phone by yourself
I am sticking to the APCD version now for 9 months or so. Did any of you with the same problem get an update in the meantime? If not, what would be the correct rom to be flashed?
I'm still on g935fxxu1bpjg UK unbranded!
Samsung is busy with S8 so please wait for one year...
I'm looking to buy an s8 phone. The active seems really nice to me as I hate the regular s8 display and prefer the flat display of the active. My Question is whether or not I can root the active using the regular s8 method. There seems to be very little info about this phone unless I'm just not looking in the right place. I'm not really sure how similar these phones are on the hardware and software side.
Honestly, the S8 active is the first phone I've had that I haven't really felt a NEED to root. Theming is there, (specialized substratum version for Samsung), can be mostly debloated via adb, battery life is amazing out of the box. There is a thread for some small mods to remove things like the carrier label in the status bar add well.
But, like you've said, there isn't a lot of info on it in the regular S8 forums. I've wondered the same things, but haven't found d any definitive answers yet. Hardware wise, I belive they are nearly identical, aside from the display being flat and not curved. No curved screen, so the screen edge specific apps and functions aren't there either. Battery has a higher capacity, 4000mah opposed to 3000mah for regular s8, I get average of 9hr SoT with average use.
The hardware is identical inside unless you count the screen, of which I prefer the Active's screen personally. I got mine a week ago and love it. It's rugged without looking like a tank I've managed to knock it off my work table twice already to a cement floor which is about 3 feet with not a single mark left on it.
The huge battery is great and lasts more than a full day with constant usage(music/reddit/games) which is a big plus.
I would like to see the dev community pick it up but like rjyoung00 said, you almost don't even need to root the thing.
there are plenty of software reasons to root despite the hardware being great. Im in the same boat as OP, I got the S6 active day one expecting a root since the S6 had one but it was released with an update that made it unrootable. Now I don't want to be in the same boat
galaxy s8 active has almost perfect hardware and absolutely awful software, (Samsung stop already put your trashy software from your devs with broken hands, why the f... is it so hard to put AOSP with root at least as an option !! )
I cannot live without unlocked bootloader, root, AOSP, xposed. This is the major reason I am still using my Nexus 6.
Really hope that devs will find the way to get all necessary software otherwise this beautiful phone is dead.
My question is can you flash the unlocked firmware on it like the others. Would love to know if anyone would try. I'd like to use it on vzw.

I'd try if I could get a copy of the original firmware.

I don't think it's possible to brick using odin, and locked bootloader. If it goes wrong, just flash original firmware, to get going again. But don't trust me. Do some research. And best not to try without having original firmware.
Duplicate Post
Broke down and purchased stock G892A firmware so I could mess around in ODIN, couldn't get any of the ulocked or carrier G950U files to flash (firmware, eng boot, combo) using standard or modded ODIN.
Uploaded the stock firmware to my drive and shared in another thread so others could mess around too. [emoji41]

All versions of the g950u and g950u1 firmware are on sammobile. In fact there is an XAA branded firmware which has 0 carrier bloat

If you read the words above my post, you'll see that we were talking about the S8 Active (G892A) which the firmware is not posted for on SamMobile, therefore had to be purchased from GSMFirmwares.
From another thread:
Found this thread with restore.

If you read the words above those words, you will see that you specifically mentioned G950U.

Youre right, I said that the g950u files wouldn't successfully flash on the g892a, which was the original question.
Also, someone else suggested not trying it until the g892a files were available. So I mentioned that I bought those files and made them available.
