Hello there,
I've got some problems with my Nexus 7 3G with rooted 4.3, unlocked bootloader and Multiboot mod after it got wet during a heavy rain.
It seems that the I2C controller fried, so the bus does not work anymore and rotation sensor, brightness sensor, NFC and camera are not working anymore.
But as those are features I don't need anyway so I want to remove some of the services that are not needed anymore.
As the system tried to initialize the NFC chip it drained a lot of power so I deleted the nfc.apk and my problem was gone (well, at least the power drain one).
I installed KitKat 4.4 in Multiboot today and tried the same thing for the nfc.apk, resulting in "Settings stopped working" every time I try to get to settings.
So, first question is: Is anyone out there with 4.4 already on their device and managed to remove NFC? Did Google change it that much so it is impossible to remove the service? If this is not possible anymore I'll be forced to use 4.3.
And the second, more important question: Is it possible to remove the other services that don't work anymore because of the hardware faults? If yes, which system apps do I need to remove?
Thanks in advance!

Its better to freeze system apps than to delete them. They cause trouble if deleted!
I am not a power user like you guys, just a basic user so no roms or anything is installed other than nova launcher.
symptoms:
1)the regular back camera will work fine and take pics normally
2)if i try to switch to the front facing camera i get something like "camera failed" and it will freeze up and exit etc.
3)if i try to switch to video mode with the regular back camera the same thing happens.
4)both times i will have to clear cache through the system settings to get the regular back camera to start working again.
i have tried clearing cache through the system settings and also in the start up menu when you hold volume up+power+home button.
after those didn't work i even tried a factory reset which made me lose all my calender appointments and to do tasks even though i used app backup and restore
nothing has worked to fix this, what can i try next?
also, i think i got a lemon with this phone because most people really like this phone but my experience with it has been horrible. the thing has been laggy and buggy and things just stop working randomly including the ambient light sensor. i wish i could somehow trade this phone in for either a new one of these or something else.
GAH!! im sitting here updating my phone and its hot as hell. this thing frequently overheats. I never had any problems like this with the s1

The S4 always has an overheating issue when using it constantly depending on what you are doing, especially when charging it and using it at the same time. Google results came up with multiple 'solutions' for it, including multiple restarts, replacing the camera module, etc.
Has your phone ever been repaired? And have you tried using a new camera application?

Search Camera module on google. You'll see it's the camera hardware inside the phone. How old is the phone?

So, Guys and Gals, as we all know, Motoroal just dropped their Lollipop Bomb after ages in our LOVED MOTO X (Still in Brazil though), which is expected to hit our INDIAN MARKET(XT1052) by a couple of weeks maximum stretched to a month.
But some of our good friends in here had already posted threads about how to side load 5.1 using TWRP backup.
* (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/how-to-install-5-1-lollipop-moto-x-t3089594) *
So if you can't skip the beat to get ur hands on to the new one, do visit the thread to a wonderfull explanation and procedure.
*I myslef will be going on with in by this evening*
So, all said and linked, the following lists the known issues and doubts about upgrading/downgrading back and so on. (Gathered by going through all the threads realted to LP 5.1)
*It will really helpfull if you add on your issues and doubts in this one place so to help each other in resolving the said and please do mention your X's Model No. *
My device : XT1052(INDIA),KK 4.4.4(stock ROM),bootloader unlocked,Recovery Twrp, Xposed Installed.
Doubts :
1. When can we expect the OTA to push in India.?
2. If and when we officially receive the OTA, what shoud I need to do, for the installation process.? (As heard without stock recovery, OTA doesn't get installed)
3. Can We go back to my stock 4.4.4(If have it twrp backed up) if we don't like or the side-load LP 5.1 or it causes any issues.?
Now for the Issues read around :
1. The speakerphone bug, will it be bugging XT1052(or any other model) if we use your method.?
2. The network switching issues.? will it be also may bug XT1052(or any other model).?
3. "Android is updating" on every boot, is this also an issue..?
[update] 24/4/15
After installing from the backup and using for alomost half a day, some things got cleared and some bugs are found , as follows :
*All this bugs are for the model XT1052(europe/asia)*
1. The speakerphone bug is persitent (not gets activated when clicked during call, but does work when first placed call in speaker phone mode. both issues are vice-versa for speaker phone and ear piece)
2. Android updating and network switching is not present on my phone.
3. [New Bug] the corrective text suggestion while typing words blink misses while showing the suggestions.
Rest, still happy with my X(not ex)

yup speaker phone bug is present no fix till now... also i realized that the proximity sensor is always on even when the phone is in sleep ( this was there in kitkat also for the active display to show up when you reach near the phone) however it does nothing. also i saw the screenshot of the 2014 moto x moto assist services it has an option to enable the active display to light up, this option is missing in the moto x 2013 moto assist

proximity sensor thing might be hardware dependant, cause I heard moto x 2014 have more than one proximity sensor.. other than that, found one more bug.. on the text correction part, whenever a word is misspelled , the corrective suggestions option doesn't show up, i mean to say, it blink misses..

the 2014 moto x has 4 proximity sensors to be exact, one on each edge so that the phone can sense when you are reaching from any direction, this was an upgrade when compared to 2013 moto x

I get the proximity sensor work one time in soak test, and sure that is software problem.(but in this time , I can't add google a/c)
I use backup method upgrade to 5.1 and also not work.
I go back to 4.4.4 for my TWRP backup and also not work.
BUT when I restart sometimes(3-4), I got message "Uninstall Motorola Sensor Services" , after uninstall and restart, it work again.
P.S. I check the setting > APP info > Motorola Sensor Services, the version is not same in 4.4.4 or 5.1.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with their front facing camera? I've only had my moto x pure for a month. Last week, the camera was malfunctioning and when the app froze, I restarted my phone and the front facing option button was not there anymore. I tried clearing the cache and disabling it, uninstalling the updates and using a different app but it's still not there. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I did do a factory reset and it worked for a few hours but then it stopped working once again.
Then what apps did you install when it stopped working?

I didn't install any new apps. I was using the rear facing camera for about 2 hours on and off and sometimes it would lag. After that, the camera app started to freeze up every time I opened it up. Then the front facing camera stopped working.
I just noticed my front camera no longer works. It has been a while but it didn't hit me that there was a problem. Cerberus is set to take a photo after two missed passwords and I did notice it was only taking pictures from the rear camera a few weeks ago. Open Camera app doesn't see the front camera either.
I did a factory reset and that didn't help. I also thought I used to be able to pick the storage location but that doesn't show up in the menu.
I am on a 1575 with the latest patch (February Security). I am rooted (systemless) but I am not sure that comes into play since the factory reset didn't fix it.
I have the moto extended warranty including damage but would like to definitely rule out software issues before going down that path.
I continued troubleshooting by installing AICP (I had been running stock), unrooting and also tried booting into android "safe mode" and the front camera still didn't work. I finally rolled back to 5.1.1 using the return to stock tool and the front camera still did not work. I am now believing that the problem is hardware related so I am sending it in to Moto for repairs. Interestingly their website would not process the repair (it said I was not in the US even though my address clearly said US) so I called and they processed it. I have the FedEx label from them and they said the turn around is around 5 days. Back to my HTC M8 for a week or so.
Moto emailed me today and said that my warranty is void because I unlocked my bootloader. I was under the impression that hardware issues would still be covered not to mention that I bought the moto extended warranty. It looks like this is my last moto.

Like the title says, hotword detection used to work great, but in recent months seems to have gotten broken. I'd say it only works 30-40% of the time, where it used to be 90-95%. Even when it does detect the hotword, it will frequently fail to do anything. It will make the sound acknowledging that it is listening, but nothing will come up on the screen.
I've attempted to retrain/delete the voice model, tried reflashing the stock image. I'm trying to determine if it's something specific to my phone, or if this is a wider issue with the current build of Android. Based on how it fails to do anything, I'm suspecting this is a software issue rather than a hardware issue.
I'm down for any suggestions. This is a feature I use a ton, and would love to get it working again.
On a side note, I used to be able to long press the phone button on my wired headphones to activate the okay Google feature, but around the same time this stopped working, I lost the ability to do that. Anyone know why?
