sorry for posting this same question a second time, but im unable to find where the first post went in regards to this subject.
I have a samsung galaxy s5 (sm-g900f) that has been rooted and is running the new Alliance ROM. well even before i installed this ROM my phone would tell me that the SDCard was blank or Unsupported file system. i've tried using 2 different sdcards (a 2GB & 16GB) but both give me the same result on my phone, they work perfectly fine on my old LG & XTE tho. i've used the SDFix app as well as trying to manually edit the platform.xml file and neither of these methods have worked for me. is there something else that i can try to do so i can access my sdcard again?

hey i just got my galaxy S im in the us on att, its currently on firmware xxjf3. so far i've rooted the phone. i'm trying to install modacos rom but he's stated several times you have to be on jg1 firmware. i downloaded the firmware and renamed the "jg1.zip" file to "update.zip" and tried to flash from sd card but it gives me an error. have a missed an obvious step here?
To flash official firmware you need to use odin. There is a video guide showing how to do it on the madoco galaxy s forums and I believe that someone linked them here as well.
yeah i just realized that, im on mac but im running bootcamp which lets me boot onto a partition of windows 7

this is the tutorial i just tried using but where it says port 7 for him it says port 4 for me when i hit start the loading bar never seems to appear.
its okay, mine says 4, and my other computer says 6, im not sure why, but it doesnt effect anything.. do you have the pit file included? and you put the CODE file in the PDA part? if its not flashing, then try adding in one of the CSC files included, if it doesnt recognize the first CSC file, try the second one. i had a similar issue, i used the smaller CSC file (i believe it was around 1mb), and it should work correctly.
and btw, when you put the update file on the phones internal memory, make sure it reads 'update' dont add the .zip at the end, it already is a zip file, adding the .zip would make it .zip.zip and it wont work. and another thing, when he says "sd card" it means internal phone memory, so you can either transfer it from your microSD card to the phones internal memory thru the built in filemanager in the phone.
heres a detailed tut on using odin3 including download links

Hey guys
I got the Galaxy S4 i9500 with the stock firmware (build number JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDK) running Jelly Bean 4.2.2. I don't know what's the region but I bought it in the US if it helps.
I got a few problems/things I wanna do:
1. I want to change my stock rom to I9500XXUAMDE (ILO region) because my original rom doesn't support Hebrew menus.
I found a link to a file but I can't post it cuz i'm new. Its name is "Samsung-Updates.com-GT-I9500-ILO-I9500XXUAMDE-1365755329.zip"
For some reason I can't download the file from hotfile... just when the download is about to finish, the download stops
I tried downloading on 2 different computers in my house, both trying with firefox and explorer browsers (every attempt took about 2 hours to "complete" its exhausting!!!!) - could someone download it and upload it as a torrent link or provide some other way to help me?
2. I want to root the device while still leaving the stock recovery and rom, first of all - should I do it before or after putting the new rom?
and second - is it still possible to update the firmware after rooting?
3. Sometimes my phone decides to lose its reception - the circle with the line crossing it doesn't show up, just the reception triangle in the top becomes empty (with no lines) and the data network symbol disappears for a few seconds. How do I stop it from happening?
4. I bought a new 32GB sdhc class 10 card (Kingston) and I can't change anything in it unless I connect the phone to my PC with the card inserted. I put the card in a different phone (i9000) and I didn't have any problems with writing there. What can I do to make the card writable, and by the way... after rooting my s4 I can move apps from the internal SD to the external one right?
Sorry for the loooong story and thanks in advance,
Gilad.

I used an app called "Wifi Pass Recovery & Backup" and it killed my wifi. It tries to turn on and fails. I could redo my phone completely but I would rather fix it.
I have tried many things:
I made a backup with the app before doing anything and restoring that did nothing. Using the in app "reset wifi settings" button also did nothing but remove my saved networks.
Using ES File Explorer I have looked at the /system/bin/wps_supplicant, /data/misc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf, /system/etc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf. Played around with permissions, owner and checked MD5 with backed up versions. One thing I noticed was that the permissions seemed to reset when I would reboot.....
I used logcat and couldn't gain any ground there.
Some post I saw said something about replacing /system/bin/wps_supplicant with the one from the stock firmware, but i couldn't figure out how to find the files in the firmware I downloaded. I did find a factory image from google and was able to extract the files I was looking for, but they didn't work either. No surprise there.
I would love some help this as you guys are the experts!
Thanks!
Are there any other files that have to do with wifi? They might be worth checking out.
Solved
Ok....So, I was able to fix the problem by going back to the stock ROM. Not what I was wanting but whatever.
In an effort to try to figure out what happened, I cross-checked the stock files with the the ones I had before.
- the MD5 checksum of /system/bin/wpa_supplicant was identical
- /system/etc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf was identical
- /data/misc/wifi/wps_supplicant.conf had a difference with config_methods. Stock was 'physical_display', old was 'physical_display virtual_push_button keypad'
So as far as I can tell.....that one entry was the problem.
Just bought the Note III SM-N900 Exynos yesterday.
I'm using a 64GB Sandisk UHS class 10 card in exFAT. It performed fine yesterday when the phone was on jellybean.
Today after updating to kitkat via kies some of the apps like mp3tagedit, ES file explorer are not able to save changes on to the memory card.
I tried editing mp3 tags they did not save.
I tried to create new folder via ES file explorer , then a message appears ' the <folder> is created asychronously ' and then again it says ' <folder> is created ' but the folder is not created .
I used Astro file manager and the MyFiles, the pre-installed one, they work fine.
So I read many posts where users were complaining about bootloop issues, compatibility issues, damaged card issues.
Should i expect any problem in the future ?
OR
Is it just that some apps in playstore are not yet fully compatible with KitaKat ?
I'm worried because i come from using Sony phones a lot and very little experience on samsung phones.
I just finished learning about kn0x and warranty issues
I don't want to root to solve this issue, and void my 2-Year warranty just after 2 days of purchase.
So should I stop using the card before eventually it gets damaged or continue hoping the issue would be fixed in future.
Please direct how to proceed.
I had tge sane issue, and I will wait till all the apps became compatible with the kitkat

Only use my Note 3 to play audio and video files.
Recently noticed some video files missing on a 64GB exFAT mSD card.
1st thought they had been deleted by Note 3.
Just did a chkdsk scan and everything OK. Have a screen capture of this but do not know how to attach.
Additional Info: My Note 3 has stock Android 4.4.2 (KitCat) and never rooted.
Am Open to all suggestions how to correct this problem.
Hey I might can offer some assistance. BUT IM A FRESH NEWBIE TO THIS. I MEAN I JUST STARTED REALLY MESSING WITH MY PHONE 2 DAYS AGO. First what type of note 3 do you have? (ie. Sprint=SM-N900P) do you have service on your phone? Do you have any experience with custom ROMs?

I hope not as this is not the Sprint model forum .
OP i would copy data off then full format sd card as a starter .
Damaged files look in the Lost Files folders .

SurageBook "what type of note 3 do you have?" Verizon "have service on your phone?" No "Do you have any experience with custom ROMs?" No
JJEgan "...i would copy data off then full format sd card as a starter." Agree did copy the wanted data.
As previously mentioned have used Windows longer than Android so used chkdsk to examine & fix the mSD Card. Everything was OK and all the missing files were shown and Not damaged,
Since posting I backed up all the wanted data and then put the mSD card back in my Note 3. All the missing files were there and undamaged. Can anyone explain this?
From experience most Windows users reload the OS every few years.
Am wondering if I should Factory reset my Android 4.4.2 OS?
Any recommendations?
Man if you just use that phone for a media device just create a backup of your phone, SD card, and copy it to your PC then install custom ROMs until you find one you like and root that bad boy. My note 3 is my primary phone with service and I have about 10 custom ROMs on my SD card that I switch every couple of days. Earlier today I was on Havco OS 2.8 android 9 now I'm on some rom that when it turns on theres a pink unicorn and its on android 7. Its easier than you think. Things you need are 1. TWRP(for your phone model) 2. Odin(on PC to flash things to your phone*optional) 3. Custom ROM 4. magisk(to root your phone) 5. Gapps (for the android version that's on the custom rom*optional) 6. Enjoy
SurageBook Thanks for the tips!
Do you know if any good tutorials concerning how to root the Verizon version of Note 3?
I don't know about Verizon I'm on sprint but if you go to the Verizon section you'll find a guide for your firmware. https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/general
Please guys post in the forum for your phones .
Otherwise i see a reply on here not your models leading to a bricked phone .

Was the link problem only on my PC? I am using Chrome browser.
Also is it possible to post screen captures?
