Hi,
I have a strange problem with my uni. When ever i charge it by the wall adapter it shows charging and even the orange led glows but its not charging. And when i connect to my computer through USB then it is charging but very slow. Can any one tell me what and where is the fault? Is it my adapter or uni?
Thanks
It could be your battery most likely, second perhaps the charger and in last option could be Uni (on that case a hard reset could help)
I have recently bought this battery so that cant be the problem plus its charging from the usb. I guess its the charger not UNI
On that case you can buy one very cheap this days
Hello
as we know, we cannot charge our Transformer using USB.
Thats a pitty as I bought a Solat Charger (expensive one) which can charge USB-Devices.
Now does anyone know how we can fix this? I thought about buying a second cable and changing some connectors? Power is power, it has to work somehow...
any ideas?
thanks
Dominik

You've got to somehow mod it to give us 15v, buy a usb 3.0 female and change some pin layouts.

It depends how fast you want to charge. I plugged the ASUS cable into an apple charger last night. I then connected it to the tablet and shut the tablet down. When I started charging the tablet was at 72%, when I got up 7.5 hours later, it was up to 93%. So it wouldn't be enough to charge it from nearly empty, but it might be enough to top up the charge after using the tab for a couple of hours. This is with the ASUS cable and no modification to the charger at all.
According to the Tip sheet that came with my TF, USB on a computer can charge it, but only when the TF is in sleep mode (screen off) or powered off.
Have you tried the solat charger to see if it does indeed charge the TF when the screen is off?
Most solat chargers have a 12v plug to power car cigarette jack devices. Connect this to a female usb plug and you can charge your tranformer and dock.
Search for the Charging thread started by Devcake. There is an extensive discussion on the charging requirements of the TF and charging options. Also the pinout and function for the connector. It is NOT true USB 3.0. It just happens to use that connector and some of the conductors.
Just got a new "clever" multivoltage car charger, plugged in the Shift and now with either AC or DC external power ...
1. External power green LED not working.
2. No charging icon on the WM side, and no indication of charging on the PC side.
3. Shift won't power up with the battery removed and only external power.
However also ...
4. Battery doesn't discharge with external power on.
5. Once started the battery can be removed and the unit remains powered via external power.
So the Shift won't charge the battery, but the external power is there and preferentially powering the unit. Any chance there is a simple fix?

Sounds like you may have spoilt the Power Charging IC in the motherboard. Have a look at the following thread particularly Post No. 6 by reb http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410161
The guy appeared to know what he was talking about but unfortunately he posted once and vanished..... Tried contacting him when I fried mine (I suspect mine was the more serious Power Distribution IC) without success. Mine could not power up at all hence ended up getting a replacement motherboad....
Looks simple enough to get the motherboard out ... but which IC should I get checked?
Is there a board diagram somewhere?
First: How do I get my Nexus 7 to charge from the OTG cable? I can connect USB devices to it but connecting the power cable of the Y doesn't seem to do anything.
Second: Is it possible to wake from tapping?

All other threads I've found relating to the OTG cable charging reference Timur's ROM which is no longer available. Is there another solution?
I've got a Nexus 2012 Wifi and all the hardware (USB DAC, amp, wiring, etc) to install this in my car. My last 2 hurdles before ripping the dash apart is the charging while connected to a USB hub and how to wake the tablet up. I was afraid of leaving the screen on all the time would burn it out and drain the battery. I wanted the ability to turn the tablet on without having the keys in the ignition. I guess I could forego that requirement and just have the tablet always on and only turn on in the ACC position.
For the wake I am thinking of creating a mechanical switch that activates the button. The power button on the tablet now will be concealed by the bezel once installed in the dash. There is an app that works but it doesn't really wake from sleep but rather creates a black screen that is tappable. I really wanted the thing to go to sleep and then wake with a tap.
I also wanted the newer android version, 6 or greater. I flashed with CM 7.1 and it works great save the two issues I'm having. Even if I had access to Timur's ROM it hasn't been updated since 4.something so I would want it newer anyway.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I installed the BeanStalk 6.19 and I am now able to OTG charge and double-tap to wake device (no extra settings as it was included with the ROM).
My problem now is it seems to only want to OTG charge when I first plug in the OTG cable to the tablet. If it's charging and I turn off the power to the OTG (like disconnect the charging cable connected to the OTG) and then plug that charging cable back in it will not charge until I reconnect the OTG cable to the tablet. I wanted to hide the cable behind the bezel of the dashboard.
I was hoping to switch the power to the USB hub that is connected to the OTG charge cable with the ACC line from the ignition. This way I wouldn't be draining the battery at all when the keys are not in the ignition. It's only 12.5 watts so I guess I could leave it on all the time. It's getting cold here this time of year so I didn't want any type of extra drain on the battery when I didn't need it.
Any suggestions?
I’ve looking at adding a second charge port so I can use OTG and charge, tried lots of different OTG cables, hubs, hubs with switches but nothing works.
Today I’ve tried wiring in a TP4056 charge board but it’s not charging my battery even though the charge light is on
Can anyone help with this
Red + battery power out
Black - neural power out
White + battery
Green - battery
Could anyone please help with why I can’t change battery, it’s still charging with the original change port but not with the PT charge board
Why do you say it's not working? Are you expecting the charging indicator to work?
If you wired an external charging board directly to your battery, Android is probably not going to recognize your battery is actually charging

Hi
Yes that what I thought, I left screen turned on and plug-in to the PT charge board and the battery lost power so I guess it’s not charging
It’s still charges fine with the original port

You can bypass the battery protection module. Connect the charging module to 2 battery packs (Use B + and B - connection, ignore the connection OUT + and OUT - ).
Battery pack -> charging module
Battery pack -> battery protection module -> motherboard
You can use multimeter (select DC voltage) to measure the voltage.

Hi
I’ve done as you have suggested but it still doesn’t change, I wondering if the charge module has a large enough output to charge the battery, Fire HD 10 3.8v 6300mAh
I think the module is input 5v output 1A

Were you able to get this working? I am going to try to do the same tonight. I came across your post and it has me worried that it won't work. 5W should be enough power to keep the battery charged. I believe most USB 2.0 cords only charge at 5V 0.5A, or 2.5W.
Hi
Sorry for not replying earlier
No not got it working, have you had any luck?
I would love to get this sorted
I believe the powerboost 1000c that I have is faulty. I wired it up last night and it is showing the battery as full, even though it is at 3.7V. I have ordered two other types of lipo charging modules to try. One is a 2A charger, so I can rule out that 1A is not enough. They should be here this weekend.
The 1A charging module arrived today. It is working, but the battery is charging very slowly. I realized it is the same TP4056 that you mentioned in your original post. Maybe yours was defective, or it isn't enough power to charge the battery and run the dongle. I did modify my otg cable, adding in a usb male connector to power the dongle from another source. I haven't tried a normal cable with the charging module yet.
I should get the 2A charging module and a new otg cable tomorrow. I will post my results after some testing.

Very interesting
Thanks for the update
Any news with the other board?
