Will Note 3 get Android L update? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I am about to buy a Galaxy Note 3, will be getting one within next 2-3 days. I am choosing this over the S5. But S5 is the newer device, so it will get more updates from Samsung I am sure, but will the Note 3 get Android L update which is coming soon?
Thanks in advance.

@devilsdouble I dont think it will get in next few days but months.

With the specs on the Note 3? If it doesn't then there's something wrong.

if it's not with official way, it will be with custom roms....

Yes not before 2015 after completing 4.4.4 update for all variants

Thanks guys. I wasn't expecting a quick update, if it comes in early 2015 then it is more than okay for me. But the question is will Samsung support this device till then?
Oh I have another important query. I was thinking about getting the N9005 model, the Snapdragon variant. It is not officially available here in my country, so I won't be getting any warranty, that's all right by me, but I have seen a topic called "regional lock" in General section, I wonder what that is! If I get a N9005 won't I be able to use it here? What the heck is this regional lock? Isn't there a way around of that bloody thing?

[Q] Where did you buy your Note 3 N9005?

It is been half a year since the note 3 release.
I have been thinking of buying a Note 3 for my old man. He got bigger hands than mine so a big phone might just suit him as well.
Just want to know where could I buy a note 3 N9005 in the U.S. for a safe and reasonable price?
I already check on amazon and it is about $580( price+shipping).
Maybe you guys have a better idea where to get one.
I am looking for a unlocked note 3 because my old man would travel to Asia every now and then.
Thank you for your information.

What would you do

So I currently have a note 2 and I'm debating if I should buy a note 3 of the classifieds or wait for the note 4. I'm new to the note 3 forums and not sure if the note 3 can be rooted and unlocked. The way Samsung is going, idk if the note 4 will be unlock able or even rooted. So idk what to do. My note 2 is starting to get real beat up and I don't know which route I should go. Any input would help. Thanks in advance!!!

wait for note 4
it will be 64 bit and 4 GB ram
and we always find a way to root our phone.

Those specs are speculated as no official info on the N4 has been released, and the only leaked info (which was a pic of a manufacturer's spec list which could be easily faked) actually shows 3gb ram.
We won't know anything until Samsung announces the N4 in September as expected, and given Verizon's recent track record the N4 may be out for a while before a method for root is found.

it will definitely have 4 GB ram as Android L will support it
and its better to wait for a better phone than regret later.

I don't disagree with you there, September is not that far away.

Wannabe Note 4 owner, a query or two

So after using the Note 3 N9005 for over 13 months its display died and the cost of it is pretty hefty, so I decided to spend 2.5x more and get a Note 4
Anyway, I have an important query, exactly which variant of Note 4 was launched in India officially? I mean is it the Exynos version or the Snapdragon one? Cause I need manufacturer warranty this time.
Secondly, I am obsessed with good kernels and ROMs, and in that regard which variant will be more supportive? I noticed that Exynos models don't get any attention at all in comparison with Qualcomm ones, is it same for Note 4 too?
Thanks in advance.

The model launched in india is SM910G it is snapdragon variant.
This time snapdragon and exynos both have good support, but snapdragon has the upper hand.
You maybe able to flash some Roms made for international variant 910F on your 910G but not all of them. (And you will void your warranty by rooting and flashing kernel as the knox will trip)
Thanks, will try to get the N910F or G then. N910G will have manufacturer warranty, and N910F won't, I understand.

Which variant to get/avoid?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about ordering a Note 4 as a repl phone for my Note7 (RIP) until the Note 8 is released. Unlike the Note7 though, there are a lot of variants. Could you guys tell me the differences between them and if their bootloaders are locked down?

AT&T & VERIZON almost all devices comes with locked bootloader.if you are about to root and install custom roms stay away from this 2 suckers.

Note FE International Version?

Are we likely to see this? Anyone have any insight to this?
I have the K version but would dearly love to flash a standard International ROM on it.
Launch of the N8 is getting closer and I'm starting to think Sammy are just going to stick with the Korean variants they've launched so far and that's it.
Maybe the FE was too popular in Korea? Maybe Sammy have realized that it would actually steal too much of the N8's thunder if they do an FE International release now?

This isn't proof positive, but, keeps the possibility open, lest we hear otherwise directly from Samsung:
Samsung Galaxy Note FE (Dual SIM) will soon be launched outside South Korea, Wi-Fi Alliance listing confirms

Thanks for that -- gives me hope.
Actually, a dual SIM version would be great. Might be tempted to sell my K and get that (I travel a lot) *IF* it was true dual SIM i.e. I don't have to choose between a second SIM or the Micro SD Card!

I've already sold my K Note FE,I'll be back whether the DualSIM becomes a reality or not,I'll give it until about October.
This time, outside of a carrier-free model,I'll get the SK Note FE.
I think it could be launched by the end this month. N935F can found on wi-fi.org.
Anybody know if Samsung Pay on other flagship international models could be used with US cards? Man, I really needed a new cell phone for the eclipse (using a Note 1 right now) and my coral blue is coming in tomorrow. I'm hoping I can sell it if Samsung Pay finally works.
EDIT: I do find it strange that they're waiting so long if this is really going to happen. With the Note 8 coming out soon, I can't see that being a good move. Either the FE stays under the shadow of the Note 8 (wasted effort), or it starts eating into Note 8 sales.
Recall how Samsung did not release the Note 5 in some markets and only had the S6 Edge+?
Maybe they will repeat that pattern with the N8 and FE?
