Okay three days back my phone went into a sudden bootlop displaying the boot logo after every 2 exact seconds leaving me unable to enter recovery or download mode. Got it checked. They said some IC was damaged. No details though. They charged some 1600 indian rupees or 26 USD
Yesterday wifi bluetooth wont turn on speaker won't work. So i was going to have it checked today. i woke up this morning restarted the phone and it went into bootlop like it did previously. battery was 43% when it did. within a minute the phone was dead. Simply nothing works. Charging it doesn't show anything. Holding power button does nothing. When connected to charger no part of the phone gets warm enough to indicate something is going on. Last time it was rebooting but able to boot in recovery they replaced motherboard and charged 12000 INR or 195 USD
Has anybody ever had similar experience?
Any way to get it fixed cheap? Or is it simply unrecoverable?

No its not stuck. The phone is now completely dead. just simpl wont start. wont even show offscreen charging animation.
Charge your battery from desktop charger. Then place back to phone and go directly to download mode, by pressing volume down and power button at the same time. Afterwards, flash latest firmware from odin.

Did you check the usb port at the phone ? maybe that is why is not charging and is why is tottaly dead...did you try charging the battery somewhere else and put it back at the phone...does it switch on?

It does not switch on. Checked te usb port nothing wrong there. strangely enough. it booted once 9 minutes after pressing the power button. i scrolled the app list and straightway went into whatsapp and now its dead again. this time though the battery does not even become warm when i charge it unlike before.
You should bring it to a service centre if possible as it may be a hardware issue.

Hi,
Yesterday my Galaxy Tab suddenly went dead ... disconnecting/reconnecting
the charger ... removing/putting back SIM ... removing/putting sdhc ....
trying all possible button combinations while pressing the power on button ...
it didnt work ... My Tab was dead ...
I was looking up service centers adresses till i found by accident this mail :
www_mygalaxytab_net/samsung-galaxy-tab-how-to/a-dead-gt/
I followed his tip :
Keep power on pressed while touching the screen
The battery indicator pops up.
The Tablet reboots.
Everything goes back to normal.
I just wanted to share this information in case the same happens to one of you.
A great year to you all.

Dead Tab
This morning it happened to me: a dead Tab.
To bad, your tip didn't work for me so I am going to the Samsung service center which is (lucky for me) near to my house.
Hope to learn more there because it seems I am not the only one with this problem.
Problem solved. Press the on button and count to ten.
My Tab is working again.

U r a lifesaver kvanlier ! It happened to me just now and ur tip solved my dead tab. I nearly wanted to open up the tab to remove the battery and reset it. Thanks again.
If the were karma point here you would be a God , Thanks for saving me a trip to the Service center.
That happened to me two days ago. Got up in the morning and the tab would not turn on. Nothing I did worked so I took it back to TMO and they gave me a new one. Lucky for me I was still with in the 30 day buyers remorse bracket. But now I am wondering! If it happens I will at least give your remedy a try.
Just to make an update on this topic, I notice that when you got absoluted zero charge, my Tab only came back to life while using Samsungs own charger. USB port of my computer alone was not able to charge it back.

I can confirm this. My Tab appeared completely dead.
It had been running a CPU intensive test app while plugged into USB and was obviously using power quicker than it was charging.
There was no low battery warning - presumably because it was plugged in and therefore thought it was charging.
Plugging it into the mains brought up the charging screen. USB alone was not enough to get it to begin charging from completely flat.
Had me panicked for a few minutes
Thanks all for the useful tips.
I have also experienced some weird phenomena when the tab is solely plugged into a USB port. It will on occasion "play dead". Charging the Tab using the wall wart solves this issue. Unfortunately, I've yet been able to determine the root cause.

FANTASTIC!!! Thanks a bunch!
I was away from home when my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Running Galaxy Task 14) started acting like it was bogged down or in a program loop. So I decided to re-boot and, I'll be damned if there wasn't ANYTHING I could get to work. No CWM, No Download state, Nothing, Nada. Just a Black Screen.
I new the battery was freshly charged, so I didn't figure that was the problem.... Never-the-less, I was without my Tablet for the rest of the day.
Once I got home and had internet service from my computer I found your post and VOILA! Fixed in about 15 seconds.
THANKS AGAIN!!!
I bricked my GTab two weeks ago (I flashed wrong ROM from other phone). It was totally dead. No power on, download mode or recovery. The trick with charging and press power button for 10 seconds or more didn't work.
Then I tried UltimateUnBrickRessurector and flash the JPI ROM. Nothing happened. Out of frustration I ran UltimateUnBrickRessurector again until it put GTab in download mode and flashed JQ1 ROM. Suddenly the camera LED flashed brightly. However power on was still not possible. I flashed JQ1 again and it worked!
I don't know whether this affects only my GTab, but I could only resurrect it after I flashed older ROM than I had. I hope this helps anybody.
exactly what happened to me yesterday, u saved me money and time thanks
thank you so much!
So I woke up this morning and went to charge my nexus 4, which had around a week of life, only to be greeted with a flashing red light on its LED. It was working perfectly fine up until now, but now it doesn't turn on, it doesn't do anything if I try a hard reset (power + volume down) and charging it with via USB or AC only shows the red flashing LED, with no charging icon at all.
I have absolutely no idea why did it decide to spontaneously die, it didn't even leave the house yet because I was too paranoid I would drop it Is there anything I can do? Any ideas? It looks like getting a replacement is my only option but I wanted to ask you guys if by any chance there's anything else I could try.
have you rooted it or flash anything into it? Overclocking it or something? what have you done to it in the period of a "week"?
Nevermind, I managed to boot into recovery mode after pressing vol.down+power for about 40 secs while plugged to AC. It looks like the battery depleted completely and that was causing the red led — why did the battery go down to 0 while the phone was off is completely beyond me though. (FWIW I did not root the device, didn't flash anything, and didn't overclock it)
I had the same thing happen to be just now. Yesterday my battery died at 2% so I shut it off. I didn't charge it that night. Today I went to plug it in and I got a red flashing led. However after about 3-5 minutes of the charger the regular white charging battery symbol came up on the screen. I think the battery was just really dead.
i got my n4 today, had an gnex before
so i unlocked my phone, rooted and installed cwm
i flashed xylon rom and trinity kernel any 10, and everything was fine, like it was on my gnexus
after a couple of hours i pressed the power button to unlock the screen but nothing happend.
phone seems to be dead, pressing power button for 10 seconds do nothing
when i plug it into charger, the led is blinking red all the time, but phone wont turn on
do you think the device is broken?
i am really ****ed up, now wtf is the quality of that?
used it for 3 hours and its broken?
any idea is welcome..(
Nexus 4 DEAD... possibly not charging.
I have this exact same issue... but trying the volume down+power key or trying the power key by itself does not do a thing. The phone will only turn on for a couple of seconds and then die. I have been trying to charge it for a couple of days now with no luch.
I am overseas and just got my phone, which was thoroughly tested by my brother in the US, but it has been off the charger for a couple of weeks until it got to my hands... Is there any reset button or anything else that I can do if I open it???
Please, sending it back will be a major hassle, thank you.
As long as you are properly charging from a source that can provide at least 1.2A, you should be able to charge the phone back up.
Make sure you're not using an Apple charger, charging from a computer, or charging with a wall adapter that is rated below 1.2A.

Perhaps a kernel related problem? Phone is still very new, devs might have to sort out some shady stuff going on. There will and can always be a certain danger when flashing custom kernels, especially with a device that new.
This just happened to me right when I was demo'ing the 8GB to a buyer since I'm selling it back as I was able to order a 16GB on the last re-offering from Google, (so I don't need two Nexus phones). Hands were sweating when it wouldn't power on, so I grabbed my charger, plugged it in, and then it started flashing a red light. Eventually it turned on after about 5 mins, finally. Battery graph showed 90% charge before it turned off, then 0%, then started back now at 10% charge. This was after powering it off and leaving it in the box since only Tuesday.
Really strange issue... I actually remember something similar happening to my Mom's HP Touchpad a few months back as well. Had to plug it in for about 40 mins after she apparently turned it off and let it sit for a couple weeks during which time it discharged completely. Guess this is the bad part about non-removable batteries lol. Though my iPod touch 2G does sit here with next to no charge and it always powers on without fail.
Happened to me just a few minutes ago, luckily got it turning on again. Weird.
Im using franco kernel and now im scared thanks to this thread...

Same issue here.
I didn't fina a solution. I've kept the phone connected to the charger for a wole night but it's not booting anymore. I'b only able to enter in fastboot mode pressing vol down + power and connecting it to PC.

This happened to me about 3 days ago while running Antutu with franco kernel r19
My phone completely depleted its battery all the way from 98%. I was able to recover it by connecting my charger for 3 mins and powering on the device with the charger connected. I let it charge for about 10 mins(It refused to charge above 3%).
So i disconnected the charger and restarted the phone. Lo and behold, my battery was back to 98%..
I have been reading lots of threads and i don't seem to be the only one that experienced this issue while running Antutu. Although i have run Antutu multiple times after restart and the problem has not replicated itself..
At first i thought Franco kernel was the culprit but this also happened to people who were completely stock..Leads me to believe that this could be a hardware issue...Lg and Google better figure out what is going on because this could lead to bad publicity and furthermore push people who are currently on the fence regarding a purchase of this device further away.
I have the same issue since this Monday. I still cannot power it on or access fastboot mode.
It happened after I updated to Franco R20 from R19. I still run stock and never OC'ed.
How can I unroot and lock the phone without being able to access fastboot or bootloader?

Earlier today, I completely drained my battery and turned it on again. It shut down after this due to the battery being on 0%. I plugged it into the charger and now it's in a boot loop, meaning it shows the "Samsung Galaxy S4" start up, then completely reboots. I can't seem to boot into recovery mode (PhilZ) and whenever I boot into download mode, the phone restarts after a while.
I'm running a CM 11 nightly from April and haven't had any problems. Can anyone help me get my phone going again?

Hi ,
you could try to clean it with a contact cleaner ( take battery out first) , do not use to much , watch out for the screen or take it to a service shop and have it replace, should not be too expensive

Hi,
They should it has nothing to do with root ...is a hardware problem
Any way as you open it up try to clean it up with a contact cleaner ( specially made for electronics) or with some 70% solution alcohol , no battery let it dry , do not get soak the display , maybe is just dirt !!

Thanks to both you and Max for going through the effort of trying to help me out, I've hit that thanks button. I've fixed my problem by draining the battery (this takes forever in a boot loop), put the phone on charge and immediately went into the download mode. I exited the download mode and for some unknown reason it decided to actually work.
I've spent money on a tool kit and tweezers though (around $12 or 10 euros, I believe), but had the privilege of tweaking around on the inside, so that was a learning experience.

Do you mean it won't power on at all? If so, hold the power button only down for 2-3 minutes or until it boots, or not.
If you meant it starts but gets stuck at the Google (no startup animation) and you cannot access recovery mode, that is totally different.
Connect it to a PC and see how it is detected in Device Manager.

I tried holding power button for several minutes. Nothing .
It does not show any signs of life, and its definitely not stuck in a bootloop.
Also got nothing in device manager too , not even EDL 9008 Mode.

Seems like after charging all night, the battery would be full. Never heard of a 6P dying on the spot with a full battery. Were you using a stock charger or aftermarket? Wall charger or something else? I'd put it on a *different* wall charger overnight and try the long power button press again. At least 2 minutes.

Stock charger. The charger works fine as i have checked it with other phones.
Either your charging port is bad in the phone has no juice and died. Or the battery is bad and come morning it died because of the charging all night. Or possibly the power button connection is bad internally maybe broken and can't turn on. I had a bad power button

I have a similar problem as the OP. If I shut my phone off I can't usually get it started for about a day or 2. I'm starting to think I may have a bad power button as well.
*Edit*
It can't be a bad power button on my unit cause it works flawlessly with the phone on. I'm stumped.

I guess the battery has been dead coz I have faced similar situation with my HTC ONE X+ using it for just a year and the battery got swollen and it's completely dead. I went out to a repair shop nearby and after opening the mobile, the battery was completely swollen and the technician just replaced a new battery and it did boot up and worked fine. So from my experience I guess it's the battery that got damaged completely (dead) and you need to replace the battery. Hope this information is helpful

You couldn't tell the battery was swollen before the phone was opened up? I wasn't aware until recently that this was a potential problem with the 6P but since other people have reported the same I guess it can be added to the list.

My job involves troubleshooting electronics with circuit boards all the way up to 3 phase hv. It's probably likely a power issue which is either the battery, screen, board, switch, or connection. But the most likely are the forementioned.
I got it diagnosed from Huawei Service Centre at nominal charges. They say motherboard is fried.

Thanks v12xke! Holding the power button worked like a charm! I still don't know why it blacked out on me but it is working now.
Hello.
So, I recently updated my phone 2 days ago for the first time after 2017, and the battery ran out while it was updating, and then it was boot looping and kept getting stuck at 28%.
I decided to reinstall the os on it (I installed the official rom that the phone came with). At first, everything seemed normal until I plugged it and after a while, the led indicator was showing that it was still charging but after I unplugged it from the charger, the light was still on and the screen was completely black and unresponsive.
After a while, the light shut off and after that, it never came on. I tried everything to get it on again: tried hard rebooting, trying to get into recovery, charging with different types of cables and with wireless charging also, basically every combination that came to mind. When I used the wireless charger, it showed that it was charging, but no signs of life on the phone. Samsung support wasn't that much of a help either, they only asked if I used a cable that worked on it and if the phone was water damaged or had any cracks.
Any help will be appreciated!!!
bump
How did you reinstall the OS?

by putting the phone into download mode
Connect usb (not charger) hold vol- + home + power, release power after 5 sec n continue holding vol- + home . If download mode appears flash phone with same csc firmware. If no downlooad mode probably battery or emmc fault.

Yeah nothing really appeared. So I'm guessing its emmc fault?
Or battery

i mean the battery was working normally when i used it last time
If its an emmc failed qualcomm cpu S7e , pc will detect as qualcomm 9008 port.
For battery you need to manually check battery voltage.

This same thing happened with my s7 edge 3-4 months ago.... i was installing some apps from play store... as usual the device was high at temperature..it turned off... for next a couple of days it was only rebooting when it was very pleasent at temperature... and sudden shutting down within minutes.. the last time it did not turn on but the blue light was on for 4-5 days until it decharged... when the battery fully drained it never accepted charging or turned on yet... i miss my s7 egde... i had many useful data saved in it.. i lost everything..
I know it was the cpu failure...

Looks like RAM failure. Heating phone's back side(after removing back panel with hair dryer for few seconds may help. Not a permanent solution, but for data backup.
