I think it'd be nice if XDA or someone else made a video tutorial on flashing the new Android 5.0 preview images onto nexus devices, I'm sure it's literally the same process as flashing stock firmware (Android 4.4.4.) but it's just a thought.

Hey guys n gals,
I should receive my Nexus 4 today and first thing Im going to do is flash the stock Google Android 4.2.1 ROM.
I am just wondering if the ROM (occam 4.2.1 JOP40D) on this website is the latest official Google 4.2.1 ROM that will receive future OTA's?
http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware
Thanks in advance!
Your phone will come with the latest Google software, or it might prompt you to do the so called "December bug" update. No need to flash a stock image. If you want to stay stock then just leave it at that.
Or I'm totally misunderstanding your question..
Yes that is the latest.

Yes to both questions
Thanks for the reply everyone I appreciate it. Just wanted to know if it was the stock ROM incase the phone came with a carrier specific firmware like the Galaxy Nexus did.
i guess it's time for you to change your avatar to the colorful nexus's X

This is where PACman rom is. Stick with Android. You will never look back. And if you BADLY want IOS back, MIUI gives a similar experience.

Before doing any modifications to your phone, get to know android, read the wiki's about terminology and how stuff work around here. You'll be doing yourself a big favor, and escaping a potential "Help-i bricked my device" thread. You can't flash roms from other devices.
One more tip, post questions in the Q&A section, you'll get better support and answers there.

Never ever flash anything from another devices forums. You might permanently brick your phone.

Unlocking and rooting
One I've unlock and root my nexus 4 it's stay unlock and rooted for good?
If i want to return to,stock image or change to another rom I only need to flash the rom without the all procedure of unlocking and rooting?

I flashed factory images for 4.4 the day Google released them and today I got a notification for a 3.4 MB system update for 4.4. Looking around the internet I don't see anything about the update at all. Does anybody know what this update brings to the table. At 3.4 MB I don't think its gonna have much besides bug fixes. I haven't flashed it cuz my battery is too low

Word has come down from the Android-Build group that new source code for Android 4.4 KitKat is on the way, containing a number of bugfixes.
This new build KRT16S. (The original pushed out was KRT16O.
In addition, new factory images — including binaries — will be available for the Nexus 4, Nexus 7s and Nexus 10.
No word yet on exactly what's changed, though we did discover a pretty significant audio bug in the Nexus 5. This also could help explain the sluggish push of over-the-air updates for the Nexus devices.

I am new to this whole thing, but I have built 5.0 from source and am having a hard time getting it to boot.
The rom flashes successfully, but when I boot, it starts the fastboot prompts. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
FWIW - I used Blackbird Kernel source and built along with the rom.
A nexus 5 rom would flash on a g2 successfully and still hard/soft brick it once you boot...we cant port 5.0 without a NEW KERNEL BASE, not kitkat based blackbird.

Thanks for the info.
Follow up question. Since the guts in the N5 are identical to the G2 wouldn't it be easy to just pull the kernel from that? Sorry if that seems like a noob question.

Not necessarily, devs have L running on my Opt G using KK sources. Galaxy Nexus also has L despite Google stopping support awhile ago. Anyway, my point is that it's not impossible to use the G2's KK source for L. (Also the devices I mentioned do not have 5.0 kernel base)

Thanks,
I did see the the FML dev for the Galaxy Nexus has a working build. Maybe I'll PM him to try and get some insight on building and booting w/ KK kernel source.
Guys, there is enough of Android ROM Stock M on Nexus 4? ..... If you where I can find this ROM?
Thanks for the answers hello
Not quite sure what you are asking. Does this help?
Hey I heard nexus 4 is going to have Android M but there isn't any ROM based in it yet
So wait to the OTA or wait to see the factory image in the Factory Image for Nexus to install it manually

There is nothing confirmed either way.
There's nothing in the hardware of the phone that would prevent Android M being produced for it. Whether Google will put in the effort is another matter.
