Hi I've got maybe kinda dumb question... How long do you think will it take to build a ROM based on Android 5.0 sources after these sources will be available? (It doesn't have to be for our device just want to now how long it will take when the first mahdi, cm, pa, etc. based on Android 5.0 appears... ) Maybe 3 - 4 weeks? I have already forgotten how long took it last time...
I'm asking because my entirely repaired LG G2 had just arrived before I started writting this and I'm not sure if it's worth to flash custom ROMs based on kitkat...
On my old phone, which stopped getting updates after GB, it took about 2-3 weeks or a month-ish for the next android version to be flashable. So be patient, but I don't think it'll be too long, we have some great devs[emoji106]
Well just flash a kitkat ROM now. Since the official LG sources won't be avaliable before LG pushes the official Android L update to us (if it does), Android L ports (cm, pa, mahdi) will most likely be based on kitkat sources,
March, most likely. As it was with KK.
Edit: Meh, saw you're asking for official push from LG.

This phone has been on the market for some time now and there are almost no custom Roms for this phone. There are certainly no Froyo roms. Is there a problem with development? Did samsung release all the drivers needed?
there are in fact many custom ROMs already.
but the guys making the custom ROMs are waiting for Froyo to be released, before they go crazy on it (same here)
Samsung is releasing Froyo sometimes in September, just in time for back to school
for the time being i'm mostly evaluating all the softwares i wat to include into my own custom ROM once froyo has been released, and also building a list of build in apps that i don't use and want to remove
you can install any of the many available custom ROMs already from the DEV section just search for [ROM]
Samsung have released the source code, but reportedly the drivers are encrypted. This means all custom roms for the near future will need to be based off the official (and leaked) Samsung releases with just optimisations (eg: MoDaCo R3) or theming (eg: SamSet 1.6), but no ports or AOSP until the drivers can be recovered.
However, work has started on Cyanogen 6.0 for Galaxy S. They are stil very much in the initial stages however.
Official Froyo is due sometime in August (Korean release), so it's easiest to just wait for that and then go from there. However, we may get some leaks early if the stream of beta firmwares (still 2.1) is anything to go by.
Actually i'm quite sure Paul said that next MoDaCo release won't be based on an official samsung firmware, so I think it's just a matter of time and many ROMs will appear.

ota 4.4 release for the g2 is q1 of 2014. q1 is the first quarter of the year, so before march i guess. i own a g2 right now. it is running 4.2.2 cleanrom right now, and its fast and stable (rooted). i dled 4.4.2 hellfire rom earlier and tested it a little bit, but went back to my nandroid of cleanrom for tomorrow. i will test it some more but i will likely wait for malladus or slimrom versions when they are abailable they will both be rock solid kitkat roms. it seems that development for this phone is starting to pick up. i think its a great phone. i'm on the vzw version. vs980. hope this helps.

Hi,
This is my first post with XDA, but I have been using XDA for reference and guides for years. I am a programmer, web developer, and BTC Miner.
I have speculated that, since only the CM11 source code has been released, that the Official CM 11 for the Note 3 will be released around Late February or even March.
I want to experience KitKat before then, so, even though I am a huge Custom Rom user, I have decided I will try the Stock release of 4.4.
I'm worried about KNOX interfering with my transition back to stock. I have had a few thoughts on this, but I still haven't figured what the outcome would be.
Samsung wants people to use stock, right?
Would Samsung have a "punishment" for having used a custom rom before?
Could there be extreme KNOX updates that prevent returning to Custom?
Could the possible trouble be too much for being impatient for 4.4?
Am I missing a section here in the forums or something?
I'm an old old android enthusiast, have been flashing from back in the OG Droid days.
I'm on a D800 (ATT). I was very excited to see the KK release, as I (for once) enjoy the stock build, except for the pastel colors, light backgrounds, and bloat. Much rather have AOSP theme and even functionality, but my phone is much to important to my day to day business to flash a ROM that reboots or glitches even a bit. Coming recently from a Galaxy Nexus, I yearn for some KK goodness.
I realized it would take some time, I watched the dev threads. I saw about a week ago the breakthru in booting KK using the 4.2 bootloader.
I anxiously awaited...
I'm a very busy guy nowadays, I can't crack-flash.
I Anxiously awaited...
Currently, I only see [ROM][4.4.2][3-6-14] PowerUser Edition V2.1- Modifed Stock - Custom Recovery Enabled
I'm anxiously awaiting...
Am I missing some threads/ ROMs?
(Yes I know about Madhi ROM, lol, I Might try it yet)
The breakthrough you're referring to was needed for stock 4.4.2. AOSP KitKat roms (like Mahdi), have been available for quite some time now (see Original Development thread).

Hello all,
I've had my Nexus 4 for over 2 years now and had an S1 since Android 2.2 (Froyo). I've tried Lollipop when it was first ported and multiple times after that. However, I never seemed to like it's new UI, the sound management, and many more things.
I've created this thread to see if anyone agrees with me and would like to provide their opinion.

I hate lollipop too!
Kitkat fan here
I owned nexus 4 two days ago, it was on 5.0.1 and i really love it! I rooted it today and flashed twrp then i flashed panaroid 4.4.4 rom. YOU KNOW WHAT? I flashed back the stock lollipop (backup). I think lollipop is the best! And i am now downloading latest cm 12 nightlies just to check it!
Lollipop is the best specially in my nexus 4
EDIT: CM12 nightlie is amazing (lollipop), now using cm12
You just can't compare the user experience (not just talking about the UI) with any other previous android version. It's just miles ahead and I can say we've finally got a completely mature OS.
Lollipop fan here, and I've been using the green robot for four years as well.
I'll take a slightly broken Lollypop over a stale candy bar or rotten Apple any day
I have a good impression about lollipop in general..i.ll like to try some kk roms but i found that incons are too big..maybe i need to use anither launcher..i dont know..anyway , lollipop is fine..i.m ok with it
Hated It
I tried lollipop for a week, Flashed back my CM11 4.4.4 That is my favorite ROM .
