Nexus 10 4.4.4, build KTU84P. I have been tapping on build number to no avail, dev options do not show up. Any gotchas?
Huh, does any message show up?
Figured it out. Turns out only the owner of the tablet can do it - I was under another user's account at the time. Solved!

Hello guys, I have quick questions. I have been having a lot of problems with Samsung Kies:
picture thumbnails not showing
taking forever to sync music
abruptly disconnects halfway
etc.
And i was reading around, realising that it could be due to the USB debugging mode being switched on. I want to switch it off but cant seem to find it anywhere in the settings menu. I know for previous phones you can do so via settings>applications>usb debuggig mode. However, on the s4, i dont even have the 'settings>applications' option... I only have 'settings>application manager
Help appreciated!

USB debug mode is off by default
You have to go to about phone and click on build prop 7 times to enable developer options

Really odd on this one. Settings > More > About Device and then tap the greyed out "build number" line 7 times. Then go back a screen and you'll see Developer Options as a choice in the "more" menu.

Thanks so much for your help guys!
The Developer Options settings are not showing up in my settings screen.
I have done the 'tapping' and if I try tapping again it says "No need, you are already a developer", but the menu item isn't there.
This has worked fine on my nexus 4, but wont work on my nexus 7.
Could this be because I am the second user on the 7??
yes, only the master/administrator user, the first account, will have access to advanced settings like dev settings.
You can use galaxy locker 3.3.2 on aptoide for exemple.
like seaweedopm says :
Okay, so after johnnydowngrief mentioned the name of the lock screen and version number I went looking for it. I found it but wanted to test the functionality before I posted the links.
First, I found the installer at:
http://m.donvito2021.store.aptoide.com/app/market/com.lockscreen.galaxys4/332/4238918/Galaxy Locker
When I ran the app, I received the normal rate this app and remove ads prompts. I was also prompted to update to the latest version of the lockscreen. Before I was able to proceed with the update, I received a message that the "Galaxy S4 Lockscreen has stopped." Fortunately, the lockscreen app's configuration was still up along with the prompt to download the update. So, I accepted the stopped message, accepted the update prompt which began to download and then received another lockscreen has stopped message. Again, the important parts of the app continued to function, specifically, the update continued to download and the configuration screen stayed open. I received the lockscreen has stopped message a few more times before the update finished downloading. Once the download completed, I ran the update - overwriting the current version - and opened the app. This time it opened without receiving any stopped messages. The configuration options all appeared to be in order so I exited the configuration and turned off the screen.
When I hit the power button a new screen appeared with the default lock. I unlocked the screen and it showed the same background. I ran my finger across the screen and noticed an animation occur (one of a couple animations offered in the lockscreen configuration). It seems that I still need to find out how to disable the default Kindle lock. There is a menu item to do so in the lockscreen configuration however it brought me to a page that enables the creation of a PIN to unlock. In normal Android tablets this is the area you select "none" but not in this case.
Has anyone figured out how to disable the default Kindle unlocker?
It's probably also worth mentioning that without a physical home button, is there any reasoning behind assigning the Galaxy S4 Lockscreen as the default launcher? The Kindle is so fast I didn't notice a difference between either option as I have with some lock screen applications on other tablets in the past (GO Locker).
In addition to the link above, I also found a xda user who is apparently offering mods for this lockscreen. His forum post is at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44812287&postcount;=3
P.S. I have a 2nd Kindle Fire HDX 7" for my girlfriend and when setting it up using the same steps as above, the download failed. If this happens to you don't worry, it isn't hard to fix. I simply forced it to start again manually through the menu options on the lockscreen's configuration page.
and like johnnydowngrief says, you have an another thread tutorial here :
Follow this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101564. It worked for him.
edit :links ok
Fix the links please. They are not the full needed links they get cut off with the ... in the middle
I just recently upgraded to a Note 3 on Android 4.4.2 (Verizon) and I've found that when a text message comes in it does not preview or show the incoming text but rather just displays that a new message arrived.
I've looked through the settings and cannot find a function on/off switch. Double-
My stock Samsung Galaxy S3 that I just upgraded from had this functionality! I want it back! It was so nice.
I really don't want to d/l 3rd party software. Have I over-looked a setting? Anyone experience the same and have a resolution?
Thanks

Go to your text messages home page (where you can see all your messages) then press;
Menu > Settings > Notifications (on) > Turn it on if you don't have it on already and then at the bottom you'll see "Preview message" and mark the ones you like.
Just checkin' in to see if you folks know what you're doing here. That solved the discrepancy.
This was just a test.
Good job.
Carry on.
Unlike every other Android device that I've used, I get no result from tapping Build Number 7 (or more) times. Developer Options doesn't appear in the menu, there's no toast, nada.
Build NMF26X.T377VVRU1CRA1
7.1.1
Any ideas how else I could possibly turn on Developer Options?
I was signed into a non-admin "profile." After switching to default profile, the option appears in the Settings menu.
New question: How to designate admin to profiles, or is it limited to the first one with no configuration beyond that?
