@adfad666, @jerpelea, can you please confirm this?
Did you use sonyxperiadev/kernel-copyleft or sonyxperiadev/kernel on Github? Or something else?
@Olivier
The kernel used in the aosp build is a prebuilt one.
But there are aosp builds outside of xda booting on a tweaked stock kk kernel.
So the stock kernel definitly boots on aosp.

I know, and that's why I asked I still want a confirmation from jerpelea or adfad666.
BTW, you can flash any kernel on any ROM and it will "boot", the problems are mostly the ramdisk or some configs (e.g. prima).

Ok, lets wait for @jerpelea s answer .
All i know is that the command line to assemble the ramdisk slightly differs from stock and cm, as i've build an aosp kernel some months ago.

kernel is prebuilt on aosp and is built from our source
if you build kernel with android from source you just waste time on build
kernel is rarely updated and is just a waste of time to recompile it every time
this kernel version is not in sync with official releases and updating kernel will break blobs, use provided kernel !
you can build yourself kernel binary and wlan module and then place them into aosp tree
new guides published

Maybe I missed some annoucement... does anyone know if Sony will release sources for 12.0.A.2.254?
Seems to me that development for custom kernels (like Doomlord's) have stalled because there are no sources available.

As I understand it they have no choice but to release the kernel source as it's linux and the licensing requires that it be made available. That said, the proprietary blobs for the cameras, wifi, etc. aren't generally licensed the same way so they don't normally get released, at least in source form.
I've requested Sony to provide the source and they will do that really soon

Nice! :good: :fingers-crossed:
Just out of curiosity:
I had an Xperia Arc. My perception was that Sony released the kernel sources (including proprietary modules and everything else which is necessary to build a working custom kernel) relatively quickly and without anyone asking for it. Has this policy changed, did they just forget in case of the Xperia SP/.254 kernel sources or did I just perceive this wrong?
Finally Sony releases .254 kernel sources

Probably not, the kernel used for 10.1is not related to the Sony kernels as I ported the drivers to a newer kernel version. We already have any changes that may be in the 2.254 kernel and more. (I didn't notice any changes to the Sony drivers).

Finally had a chance to look at them as I got home from work only just before...
Just left my computer to push them today so didn't get a chance to check them but adfad666 is right and not much actual changes changed though which are useful for us.
Just some general CAF / kernel updates so not too important.
A panel driver was updated but I'm doubt we we will use it as our kernel is not based off stock.
Probably not. . Let's wait for 4.3 kernel from Sony as it will be worth rebasing off that
Thanks for the link to sources....

When you flash a 4.3 kernel without PRIMA driver included to KitKat rom you need to flash the dePRIMAtor fix.
I have read somewhere that there is still no compatible kernel for KRT16O,only for KRT16M because google didn't release kernel source for mako.
I would like to know is this true.

True. Kernel sources are yet to be published by Google. Until then, there won't be any proper 4.4 kernel.

Because they don't have them optimised for Lollipop themselves yet probably. I doubt they can release proper support for AOSP before the general release without some customer backlash. I wouldn't worry about it and I fully expect that their AOSP blobs will be updated once Lollipop ROMs are actually released.

We no longer have any custom kernel for z2 and z3,only advanced stock so im asking here:
If you are a dev and know how to compile a kernel - please try to make MM kernel with few most needed features for all of us who were using androplus kernel and really dont feel good on stock kernels.
Probably most people would like undervolting, one or two custom govs etc.We dont need all the great features of androplus kernel, just some of them..
There must be someone with enough skill to add some features to kernel, mayby our z2/3 community could get together and add some bounty for that.
Sony released the sources already:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/all-downloads/open-source-archive-for-23-5-a-0-570/
If you know how to compile but scared to test on your own phone, then im up for testing on my Z2.
Totally agree, best features would be underrvolting and one or two custom governors!
In great need of a custom kernel for MM. On the other hand, is it possible to keep LP kernel and flash MM ROM?
It is possible but MM wont work on LP kernel - different drivers etc.

Is it bootloop? Can a bootloopfix solve it?
No, MM differs a lot from LP on kernel side and there is no way to make MM run on LP kernel. What i meant before is that you can keep LP kernel on MM (you asked about it) but I totally didnt mean it will ever work

Meh its just a stock kernel with recovery, will do just right for some users but here we were talking about custom kernels, which give you more control over phone hardware.
I'm willing to create a custom kernel, I have some Linux background but I need help of course. I'm using this custom stock kernel for MM too. I just want the "zzmoove" governor on it, some underclock & overclock and QUICK CHARGE feature. I have the building environment set up, just need some help now.
Hear me, big brothers.
I know how to compile kernel from source, did it often with AndroPlus Kernel (to add QC), but I don't know how to add features to the kernel and how to fix stuffs and how to work with github...
Gesendet von meinem SM-T230 mit Tapatalk
Now I try to compile the kernel from source, getting nowhere with the Sony developer guide. It will be great if some one can shed some light on it.
I think we should invite AndroPlus or Myself5 to this thread, mayby together we could figure out something. If i remember correct there is a sort of a tutorial on androplus github but its not enough.Mayby creating a small chat group on whatsapp with some more expirienced kernel devs would do for you guys? I can try to ask a few about that.
On vacations I'll surely give it a try, lets better do it with Telegram, not everyone wants to give his number

The kernel is not booting.
This might be difficult to debug since it doesn't seem to be from the kernel nor the ramdisk.
There is a xperia_readme inside Kernel folder. It says it's for C6543, not sure if that contribute to the issue of not booting.
I also just compiled the zImage. I just don't know where to get the ramdisk.img and commandline. Can someone help me out?
Hi, I think this would be a great idea, especially if the dev can add the multirom (kexec-hardboot patch) support.
Thanks
Hi all,
Am a noob when it comes to building/developing ROMs. Sony just shared this:
Build AOSP Nougat 7.0 at http://developer.sonymobile.com/build-aosp-nougat-7-0/
Nowhere does it mention Yuga. So my question being can we use the procedure listed on that link to build for Yuga?
The Second good news today at morning. On Other Website has a Modder Port Nougat to Nexus 4 with same Soc. I think Nougat is comming
Gesendet von meinem C6603 mit Tapatalk
Depends on the number of patches that needs to be applied in order to get the whole thing to work on Yuga i guess.
We have quite a lot of good devs here , hopefully some of them will have the know how..
Or hopefully some of them will be kind enough to write a very long and very detailed tutorial on how to do it..
A very detailed step by step..
Who knows..

I hope they can make it. The new Vulcan API.. The performance is ok but can the hardware run it? For example compatibility with Vulcan.? ?
No, it can't. Vulkan API requires newer OpenGL and our old adreno 320 doesn't support it. Except that, Vulcan API requires changes in Blobs that can be made only by qualcomm. And they don't even do this for Snapdragon 800. We can have nougat on our xperias, but without VulcanAPI support. It works for example on Nexus 5 and Nexus 4(it has the same hardware as our phones).
Looking at the xperiadev page for yuga on github, I could find binaries supporting only upto KK. It didn't have Sony AOSP support for L, forget about MM or N. I don't know anything about ROM development, but at the risk of bricking my device trying to build an Android N for XZ using the existing binaries available on xperiadev github page and using yuga-aosp branch. If successful will share process & progress.

Look at the comments on ZR thread, it's not stable as cm13/RR but still it's a great start
Yes that is clear that a build is not stable at the beginning of the development. I myself understand from Rome building not so much. I imagine only that it with time more and more difficult Stable builds will create higher the Android version. I can also be wrong.
The ZR does have the same SoC but very different from the hardware and software equipment. Assuming for the build from ZR as a template to the N to Z to porting or there are certain sources to directly build a for Z to create ?? For the ZR has no OTG if this build now Ported how do you get the Z then OTG at. This is just an example of some of the hire has not the ZR relation to the Z

Well you could try building one for our XZ. There are plenty of tutorials available excluding the link I've already shared on this thread. We are a community where everyone is allowed to contribute in whatever way possible. Let's not get frustrated with non availability. There are developers who deliver when they don't even own a XZ.
FYI, I have been working on building one but hit a few road blocks. It's WIP. Will update the forum if I get an alpha build working.
