Hi, I'd like to be able to take HDR images using Cyanogenmod. If I use the stock KK camera, it takes HDR images, but when I exit the app and enter again, it freezes. The Moto X/ Moto E camera works, but when taking HDR images, it freezes after taking the picture. On JBBL, the MotoX camera (I found it somewhere on Dhacker's Androidhosting folder, I guess) works. Is there any camera which should take fine HDR images like Moto Cameras and works on custom ROMs on KKBL? Thanks

As I mentioned elsewhere (in Razr HD forums), HDR support for moto_msm8960 devices by CM camera app is in the works. It's almost ready. I hope to push the commits covering both KKBL and JBBL builds during this week. At this point, it seems that I need to fix just one last small issue I've encountered so far. Once it's fixed, the patches should be ready to go...
Great, I liked the clean CM/AOSP Camera before I moved to the RAZR M. Thanks
Sent from my M using Tapatalk
I'm using the Moto E camera posted by ATTACK (KKBL CM11 10112014 nighty) and the HDR is working fine.
Maybe it'll sound stupid, but right now my phone refuses to install the original KK Razr M camera that I've uploaded here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2774427
Anyway it's not just a matter of HDR: the photos taken with the Moto Razr M camera or the Moto E camera are much better than the one taken with the stock CM11 camera: less noise, better color, bigger output files (700kb vs 1mb)
Really? For me it freezes after taking a picture (with HDR on, not auto). The stock app can't be installed when the Moto E one is already there.

What do you mean with freeze? It's not a froce close, right? It just keep the camera working but without giving you back the commands and the gallery access? If so, sometimes it happens to me too... It's pretty random...

thanks for this. the Moto X cam isn't that bad. really hoping L brings consistency in the camera department
I have them both installed. I hadn't even thought about differing image quality, but I really like just being able to tap the screen to take a picture in the moto x camera, and the burst mode, and I also love the photosphere and panorama from the google camera. The Moto X camera software has panorama too, but the implimention of actually taking the panorama is so much superior in the google camera app.
Judging from what I see the camera sucks. Noise...noise everywhere!! The bikes are sweet, the first one could be a sweet cafe racer and the second one looks like a cool dirt track bike.

Yes, lots of noise. The first bike is a cafe project I'm building with my oldest son. The second little bike was a bike my younger sons built for a custom bike contest. This one is my project that I've been building over the past year
ProCapture is amazing. This app truly shows that its a software issue and not hardware. The low light/ indoor photos (using their Noise Reduction option) displayed photos 10x better than stock or google

No. The twist feature is tied in with the Motorola Camera

It's kind off nice to see the google camera do better in some cases, which would mean there still is some hope for more optimizations of the camera
it's just so inconsistent no matter what camera you use. one shot will look great, the next will look like an oil painting. i've also tried procam, vignette, zoom fx, and all cameras have the same result.

With Root and Xposed and the "Twisty Switch" module you can use Google Camera (or any app for that matter) with the twist gesture.

Glad I found this thread!
I'd like to see some shots using HDR mode on both cams. Google Camera has a pretty amazing HDR+ mode on Nexus, but I guess this will not be active on the Moto X, right?
In my Galaxy S4 GPE the HDR feature in Google Camera takes impressively good pictures...
I'm currently trying to decide between the oversized Nexus6, the Moto X or maybe something completely different. Camera is one of the deciding factors...
Thanks!
Here's my comparison between the Stock X (2014) camera and Google Camera.
https://plus.google.com/109547535739901455455/posts/es5bnENnaz3
Looking at zoomed in sections, the stock camera does quite a bit of over-sharpening, and Google Camera seems to do a better job of capturing detail and better exposure.
I'm really excited to see what 5.0 brings us camera-wise in the coming month.
In my case i prefer the nexus 5 camera. Just the ois is a good feature.
I still use different camera app to understand what is the better one.
I'm sure is only a software problem and Android Lollipop can resolve this.
Why are people complaining about noise? If you're worried about iso noise, take photos with a real camera.
The touch to take a photo is frustrating as hell when i'm used to tap-to-focus on targets rather than it immediately take a pic.
I've tried fiddling around but still no joy. Anyone know of a secret-squirrel setting someplace to turn that crap off?

I guess you could just use the stock app when you need to film slow-mo or 4K? Alternatively, you could look around for other camera apps on the forums or on the play store; I found one called open camera, not the nicest looking interface but looks pretty functional...
Edit: I've heard that the moto x style doesn't support the camera api which is a bit of a bummer...
I've used Open Camera previously, may have to give it a go. Google Camera is ok but it is a bit Basic?
I wonder if the Oppo camera app will work >.>
I think many people do not know that you can use the volume up/down buttons to snap a photo. Then it feels very much like a traditional point and shoot camera when you hold it. I literally just found this out today. I really wish Moto included that tidbit in their initial tutorial animations.

I installed this Xposed module on the stock rom and changed almost all the options in it and also installed Camera 360 and Camera FV 5 Pro (I changed the extension from .jpeg to .png in FV5).
Now I'm not sure if this app it's really better or is just a impression because I can't see any difference between the stock image quality (and Google Camera) and the Camera FV5, I can see just the difference in the image size.
Attached sample images - https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9AGQuLtWUjVUS1lbkF1MTh5MlE&usp=sharing
Camera 360 ≈ 3,6 - 3,8MB
Camera FV5 ≈ 20 - 22MB
Google Camera ≈ 5,0 - 6,0MB
Stock Camera ≈ 5,5 - 6,0MB
Obs.: HDR turned ON in all cameras

No, camera Sensor is not Bad, but in lineage OS 14.1 it is not good. I think maybe if Nougat will be released official, the camera will improve and it will make its way to lineage OS 14.1 too.

I've just switched to A Better Camera. So far so good, has HDR & Panarama options, easy to use UI. It does go wonky with displayed aspect ratios when previewing, but the pictures turn out good.

+1 for A Better Camera app. Works very well compared to stock app.
the best camera are 2:
1) a better camera (but the gui is horrible)
2) snap camera hdr
see you!
I use open camera. It's a very powerful app. You can adjust ISO, expose time, manual focus, expose lock. It's almost with all the function of SLR. I love it very much.
just curious. does anyone have any photo comparisons of stock vs lineage? i bought the phone recently and it shipped with lineage so i have no idea what the camera difference actually was, but i do think that camera kinda sucks. my s5 shot better photos.
Not specific for Lineage, but is there a camera app that do digital image stabilization for video?
I think the picture mode is quite decent with stock camera app, but the video mode is disastrous...
+1 on Open Camera. Also looking at but haven't yet downloaded or tested Qualcom's Snapdragon Camera. I also think the Snapdragon camera may be our default Lineage camera - so I'll likely stick with Open Camera.
Camera
I'm using moto z ported camera app. It's better then lineageOs one.

I tried:
google camera, it doesn't work;
jishnu htc one m9 (and m10) camera ports, work but are buggy;
open camera, not so great after all.
So far the best one, and i'm settled on it with my rom, is aforementioned moto z camera app.
cheers

Bacon Camera - https://lensdump.com/i/KKzs9

Here new Photos
Bacon Camera - https://lensdump.com/i/Kz0OA - https://lensdump.com/i/KzjTq - https://lensdump.com/i/KSJa3 - https://lensdump.com/i/KS6dr
Google Camera con HDR+ - https://lensdump.com/i/KzWyD - https://lensdump.com/i/Klaur - https://lensdump.com/i/KSCLF - https://lensdump.com/i/KSTNb
A Better Camera Unlocked - https://lensdump.com/i/KzAn0 - https://lensdump.com/i/Kz28F - https://lensdump.com/i/KSR4T - https://lensdump.com/i/KSki7
Personal opinion: After a careful analysis of the photos, I think that Bacon Camera is the one that keeps the details "richer" even if it tends to underexpose the photos.
The photos with Bacon Camera are indeed "uncompressed" in BMP format.
Google Camera and A Better Camera Unlocked (both with HDR enabled) have a better balance of lights and shadows, but they lose a lot of detail by mixing more photos.

Have you tried the stock Rom to eliminate that as a possibility?

bro ive tried on stock rom but didn't work so I switched to a custom rom but didn't work either. Btw hdr+ works when the config shows in bottom of the screen like(pixel experimental features). And taping on preview it shows hdr+ processing. If it clicks with no shutter delay and no popup then its normal image not hdr+ processed.
If working for someone then what are the settings. Keep in mind that I'm talking about hdr+ processed photos, not just normal captures. When it shows processing on the screen after u tap the shutter button then its hdr+ processed if not then its just a normal image.
I see it takes pictures @ 12Mp (4:3) instead of 16Mp.
Also, I don't think HDR (or ZSL) settings make a difference...
The picture I've taken with Google Camera are grainier (especially shadows) than with Asus, using 12Mp settings in both.

hey bro I know the camera app is working just like google camera but the problem is that it isn't working with hdr+ . When hdr+ processes the image it takes seconds and looks different than normal shot(Tried with my brother's oneplus 3t). ya bro not making any difference since it gives fc on hdr+ processing. If the photo is not hdr processed then its a normal picture. i've tried how the hdr+ works on my brother's oneplus 3t. the difference is very noticeable.
