Why would Optus put it on the market? It's supposed to be on our phone and we're not supposed to be able to get rid of it.

In the highly likely chance that someone would need it if they bought a phone out right ??????
I'm with 3 and they have their apps on the market.

But that's supposed to be the benefit of actually getting the phone from them. They have to have some perks.

I would also really like this as well
When I installed the generic UK firmware, it wiped it out.

024 using OTA. Apparently 026 is available through SEUS.

I'm on stock optus running r2ba026. got the extra year warranty so i'm not rooting yet.

Wow I'm surprised optus are actually keeping up now.
Even if your phone does screw up under warranty though you can still flash back to stock firmware.
From what I've heard optus take up to a month to get the phone back to you anyway so its easier to go to a third party.

Edit: I fixed it. Just realised I typed the wrong username. Thanks, works like a charm. I hate how the widget doesn't work. Optus really needs to work on that. Maybe there will be an app on the Market one day for checking Optus usage with a working widget.

Theres third party apps which work better than the optus widget. Realtime!!
I belive optus only updates every 24 hrs on their servers? I may be incorrect but was when I worked there!

I flashed my phone to 2.1 global. Installed Node Droid from market. Works better than the Optus app IMO.

Thanks. I needed this after I flashed a new ROM on my Optus phone. The widget is kinda glitched though.

Update 2.3.4 Available

I Read in any places that Update 2.3.4 is now available but i still can't even update to 4.0, here is the article : http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/09/2...-xperia-arc-and-xperia-play-owners/#more-2281

Where are from anyway? It says on the article that the update at the moment are for nordic countries im from asia and still no update.

I am from India...didn't got the update yet

Nothing yet on UK Generic (rooted). Maybe because I have bloatware frozen (although I'm not sure if the update not showing up has any affect on that).

R800i, 2.3.3, 4.0.A.2.368 (full hebrew support, so i guess it's israeli version[?]).
still no update.

Would this be compatible with my 3.0 xperia play for att?

I recommend you don't try it yet. I can't say for sure but since the R800a and r800i can flash their firmwares interchangeably I don't see why it wouldn't work for the r800at.

OK. Also, when trying to flash this, I can't seem to get into fastboot mode. It just takes me to the charging battery screen. I hold down the search button when plugging in the USB.

hold it down about half a seconds before you put in the usb. also, you need to be holding the back button for flashtool, the search key is for fastboot

Their us an tft file already if you want to flash it on your phone. Its somewhere on the android development section for the xperia play.

Did you actually try it? So long as the video is 720p @ 30fps constant then I'm happy!
By the way, what other improvements/fixes does the new update offer? Any performance/speed increase?

Come on guys, no one answered my question with regards to the sound.
Is the sound just as loud as the previous 2.3.3?
Is the xLOUD still there? If not is there any way to get it?
What else is new in the update? Is it worth updating?
Reason I'm asking is because I've only just updated to 2.3.3 and it's great in every way.
I understand the video camera has been greatly improved however I never use the camera and therefore not too bothered about 720p.
Reason I bought my Xperia Play was to game!
So, is the new update worth it or not and why.

Yes you will loose it all, but it is now possible to root 2.3.4

I upgraded my stock O2 Play to 2.3.4 without any problem. I wanted to use the the live media dock DK10.

Still no OTA on UK generic, that's what i've been waiting..

Everyone wondering that website is a good source it has listed a huge amount of firmware before release.
So mabye they pushed it out then canceled it ? Or they actually are bringing a ics update but don't put your hops up.

You are correct. This is an ICS version (4.1.#) so looks good for play. Has anyone contacted Sony to find out more yet? ??

i've tried to contact Sony but just cant connect to their chat support..
maybe someone else can try and report here..

When you see Fw appear on that site it's normally around 2 weeks till it gets rolled out. But we need to find out if it is real deal. Doubt this is a typo or mistake so looking good so far, will get on to Sony see if we can dig up some more info

Maybe they've resolved the touchpad issue with other devs (Gameloft, EA etc).

While there's already AOSP I'm wondering what new stuff Sony can bring to their Stock Firmware to be honest, 4.3 uses the 3.6 Kernel yes?

If you haven't yet received the update that's most likely your carriers problem, most of the ppl here got it already... sorry mate. :-\
Sony has already confirmed that Xperia Z and in fact all their current flagships will receive 4.3. The only question is when?

When isn't even a question to be asking at this point, could be a few months to potentially six months or a year until we get it, while they're streamlining their processes to get you the software, enjoy 4.2.2 for a bit!

Just flashed .244 much better than .423 my phone is unbranded so no carrier we are now 4 update behind everyone else and we shouldn't have to flash roms to get an update no one else has to why should we that's why I won't hold my breath.

Funny thing. The unbranded Xperia z got updates later then the branded one. And flashing an ftf is basically the same as doing the official update. In either case u use a flashtool or sony companion. Same thing basically.. So ur complain about it is so what wrong. Because in either case ur phone needs to be hooked up to the pc mac or whatever to update.

The point is we shouldn't have to we don't want special treatment we just want the same as everyone else.
If my phone broke under warranty would Sony say your phone is UK unbranded fix it yourself? I don't think so.
I just don't swallow their lies quite as easy as some people do.

What has any of this got to do with the subject of this thread?
Please take pointless complaining about not receiving updates elsewhere. Preferably another forum altogether.

Well ok I see. For me it wasn't a big deal because like I said no matter if my phone would have told me there is an update I still would have to hook it up to my laptop install sony companion and then update. Basically the same as installing flashtool and then flashing an ftf. So both end up being the same step to update. And one question are u able to root the 244 update? And what makes it better then the 423 update?

The .224 I believe is much quicker and smoother It's sorted out allot of the lag you get with .423.
Yes it can be rooted Doomlord sorted it out. It's a bit of a rigmarole but it works.
If your not on it try it its definitely better.

Yeah not on it yet didn't feel like rooting it. As u just mention I saw that there is a root for this version but right now I am kinda lazy to do all that stuff right now. But I am pretty sure I will pretty soon update to that version. Or maybe skip until 4.3. Not sure.

It has lots to do with it. Sony are spouting on about all these update and we in the UK aren't getting any.
and I'm certainly not gonna kiss Sony butt they've given us nothing and I'm gonna tell everyone I can including Sony on this open forum and others how much they suck so people can make a clear and informed decision before being duped into buying their products.

It is pointless complaining and some of us are sick and tired of every single thread regarding updates being infested with it. Even unrelated threads about Android 4.3 such as this one.
1. Go to Sony's support forum and complain there. Nobody here really cares or can help you with your 'problem'.
2. You are on a development site. Any update is available here minutes after it's released, negating the need to whine about it not being available for your region.
Just as an aside, I am also from the UK. I simply flashed another regions software when 423 was released and moved on. I will be updating to the latest software this afternoon. No pointless complaining from my part.
