Hey everyone,
I couldn't find anything about this in the TMobile Galaxy S5 forum or the unified thread, but I've been using the nightly CM11 for weeks now, but every so often the phone will freeze for no reason (not performing any consistent tasks). Also I noticed that when the screen is off and I get a notification, sometimes the vibration will "freeze" and won't stop vibrating until I turn on the screen. Has anyone else had these issues? I'm not running a custom kernel or anything, and I did a completely fresh install about a week ago to solve the issues, to no avail.
Anyone?

My VS980 for the third time now randomly started lagging and hanging. By that I mean the main watch on accuweather hangs, sending text messages and downloading hangs, and just switching through home screens and app list the screen freezes and then unfreezes. Apps barely boot and social, calendar widgets do not update, and typing freezes after every word for about 3 seconds. Restart and safe mode do not fix this problem. The previous 2 times I did a hard reset but it seems to only fix the issue for about 5-7 days, but those are annoying, so is there any other solutions or anyone aware of this such type problem?
Is there some certain program you keep re-installing that could be causing issues? Have you tried any custom roms?

Definitely sounds like a rogue program running in the background. My advice is for you to do a hard reset, then install apps one at a time (run it, of course), and find out which program is causing an issue. An alternative is that you google each app to see if others using the same apps have issues.
I got this phone recently from insurance, could it be something in Kernel issue or something else? I did another hard reset, I'll look out for any apps, but it happened randomly without any downloads or installs. I have no custom roms, and I only have news apps and 3 games from EA.
Question - Could this possibly be spawned by originally having rooting problems? The phone was sort of frozen on my first root attempt for some unknown reasons, the command box suddenly froze and the android icon was frozen, I had to restart my phone and attempt root again even though the previous root attempt started and was cut off, and the first time the lag issue happened was the next day. Do you think I should try un-rooting and re-rooting my phone? Or is that irrelevant.

Are you running any custom roms, kernel, mods? Recovery installed?
Possibly a modem problem
I had this problem on my G2, and changing my modem seemed to fix it. I was using EUR KK modem even though I'm in the Middle East. Try changing to your region specific modem and then it can fix it, a dalvik/normal cache wipe can help. If all fails then try wiping, or switching roms.
I've been having an issue where my phone will get the sleep of death (SOD), generally from trying to turn the screen on too quickly after turning it off, or if the device gets too hot in general. Occasionally the SOD is accompanied with some data loss, my wallpaper will reset to stock, and old sms messages will be will pop up in notifications as if they are new (and it is a stock messaging notification, not my default messaging app). This has happened on both CM based custom roms and stock roms. It generally become more common the longer I stay on the rom setup, so I haven't been able to pin it to one modification (although I have many). Now on C-rom there has been another problem, when I reboot the LG screen comes on normally but slowly loses contrast and greys out, which kind of worries me given some of the screen issues I've heard about.
Has anybody had issues like this? Any tips would be appreciated
Hello guys.
I searched on the forum and i couldnt find a answer that works for me.
I have a Galaxy s4 gt-i9505 for over a year, always using custom roms. A week ago, my phone starts randomly rebooting, and overheat. In less than 2 hour my battery was gone.
I did all wipes and the phone continued rebooting. Then I flashed the stock 5.0.1 rom, it restarted once or twice and stopped. But the overhead continued.
The last modification I made was an update in the rom I was using for over a month, and the update was a week before the reboots. I dont believe this is the cause.
Could it be a hardware problem?
Obs: the hottest part is below the flash of the camera.
Obs2: it usually happens when I turn wifi or 3g on.
Obs3: I have few apps installed. (Just social media)
This problem are happening with my S4 since the KitKat. It vibrate two times until turn on after randomly reboot. It happens like in this video (I can't post external link, so just search like below):
"GALAXY S4 Help, Power Cycle Problem, Overheats, Turns Off. Will it Blow Up and Catch on FIre?!"
My S4 is the I9505, I'm using the stock rom, stock kernel and no root. After a lot of wipe data/cache, ROM reinstall, the problem continues. No matter the rom, the kernel, if are root or not. I've tested other battery, but the problem persisting
"Obs: the hottest part is below the flash of the camera.

Same Symptoms.
Since I have fewer than 10 posts, I can't post in the official thread of the Rom, so I hope it's OK if I ask this question here.
I just reinstalled JDCTeam's optimized CM12.1 on my S4 after a long ordeal trying to update the baseband, losing my IMEI and so on.
Everything is working fine, except one annoying issue where the capacitive buttons keep registering and vibrating for about 5 minutes after the phone goes to sleep. This means that whenever I finish using the phone and put it in my pocket, it vibrates with every step I take (unless I carry it backwards in my pocket, with the screen facing away from my leg). This is incredibly annoying and the only fix I have found for it so far is to completely disable haptic feedback. Since this is quite a compromise, I was wondering if anyone knows a solution to this issue.
Hi guys
I recently bought an OnePlus 2. With the original firmware, I experienced a very strange and very annoying issue: My screen randomly turned off (e.g. during a chat in WhatsApp). The screen turns off and I have to turn it on again by pressing the power button. Then I enter my PIN to access my phone again and it locks AGAIN. This happens like 10 times in a row, then I have to reboot the phone and it was OK again. I seriously don't know what triggered this issue.
However, recently I got pissed of because I tried to call one of my customers and as soon as I entered my PIN and tried to open the phone app, the screen locked again and I almost threw away my phone. Damned troll.
So I decided to try another ROM as I thought it was an OS-related issue. Now I'm running Exodus Android 6.0.1. I did a clean install and guess what: The issue came back on this ROM...
In my opinion there's only something both installations (my previous 5.1.1 stock ROM and my current 6.0.1 ROM) have in common: I've been using XPosed with Amplify, Greenify and XPrivacy. Other than that, I have no idea what it might be.
Have you encountered the same or a similar issue? If so, were you able to solve it? How did you solve it?
I just uninstalled Amplify, as I think it stops somehow the Gyroscope service, that's why it locks randomly. I'll check if the issue appears again...
I think I have good news for you guys: I guess I was able to locate the issue.
I noticed it always happened when I was holding the phone in the hand I had a ring on my finger. Then I found out the phone has magnetic sensors (for flip covers).
I downloaded the Xposed module "Magnet Sensor Control", the bug hasn't appeared so far!
I hope I was able to help you guys with my findings. This thread may be closed now.
