This is not that kind of forum my friend. All your answers are all over the web and xda as posted above. Sit back start reading and enjoy since only you can answer the question of is this phone for you... Take care

Please try the thread linked in the second post. There are lots of opinions there.
So that we don't have hundreds of the same types of threads because, yes, your question has been asked many, many, many times before, this thread will have to be closed.

Because this is a development thread. Where people develope programs and provide assistance on them. Its not the yellow pages. No one here works for you. We are not your secrateries. New threads like this clog up the forum and make it difficult for those of us who use search. Take some time to read the forum rules.
Here is the hint. Top of this page to the right is a "Search" button. Its just below your name. Use it to search the contents of your original subject line of this thread. If you can copy/paste the http address of your search result to prove to me you did your due dilegents, but still cant find your answer, I will help you learn how to use search properly so you don't continue to post new threads. But at this point I don't think you have used more than 2 minutes of your time searching on your own.

Wow, never before have I seen such "jerk" behavior at xda deverlopers. I know the person should have searched and I'm not discounting that fact, but there is NO reason to jump down someone's throat with that tone. Sorry, I'm a Japanese and I ever saw how much loathing and hatred went into your post. Next time, please do more courteous behavior... if not, I hate to think of how people will treat you.

The reason people tell you to search is because this site, like any other activity has rules. One of them is to READ and SEARCH to find the answers yourself before you post a question that has been answered in numerous other locations. While some people may be overly aggressive in their suggestion that you use the search function, it does not make their point any less valid. There are a lot of people on this site, and all of them are volunteers. Nobody gets paid to be here. When you decide that you're gonna clutter the forum with threads and posts that have already been answered very thoroughly in easily searchable locations then it just makes it more difficult for people who actually do know how to use the site properly to find anything. So in the future, if you have an interesting idea (which you did) then do some looking to see if maybe somebody else had that same idea and post your thoughts there. That way everyone who is interested in that idea can go to one place to follow any development that happens there. Otherwise you are basically saying to all the people who put a lot of time in here, that you think your time is more valuable than their's. Which puts us in this perpetual cycle of people who don't know anything complaining because the people who do know the answers want them to learn how to find the answers rather than just giving them the answer.

Search the entire forum. In fact google the interenet for the question I posted in that thread. It is no where to be found. And it was a development idea posted in a development thread after all that searching had been done. Your not comparing apples to apples. In fact there is no comparable comparison.
Anybody got an answer to that thread let me know b/c it still hasn't been solved!!!! LMFAO!!

I was less of a dip**** and it continued to happen. At least this is getting some attention that may make a noticable difference of noob's continuing down the same old path of ask questions first, search as a last result.
It would be great if the Moderators would put a sticky at the bottom of the sticky posts for this forum titled "How to Use Search before you post a New Thread" since noob's aren't even taking the time to read the forum rules. While their at it make the title of the sticky thread alway stay BOLD even if no new posts are made in it.

Reasons to root

My Nexus One will be here tomorrow, and I am wondering what the Pro's and Con's of rooting are.
I've rooted before. I had a G1, but I bricked it, accidentally. Won't stop me from rooting the Nexus, but just give me some reasons why.
I obviously know about cooked roms, etc. I've read about the Desire rom with Sense UI, is it worth it?
Just want your input.
The "search" function of the forums is a great feature. I've seen several threads about this very subject already.
Its definitely worth it! I enjoyed the phone stock, but when i rooted and went with cyanogen 5053. I couldnt happier. I thought the phone was fast already, but with the ROM, its a step above!
And plus some apps from the market are only for rooted phones. SetCPU (underclocking app) is one of them, and has helped me out with battery life. moderate use, i got about 18 hours yesterday with still 35% left on the battery.

This is exactly why I don't post alot.
@stuff: I rooted my n1 and flashed cyanogen 5053 and gotta say it's alot faster! If your the kind of guy that gets alot of apps and games like me there is another feature of rooted phones called apps2sd. Apps2sd allows you to set a partition size of your choosing on your sd card for use of storing installed apps and games. That way you are not limited to the internal phone memory. Also as h2opoloplyr_11 stated there are some apps that require your phone to be rooted. Thats all I can think of right now as I am new to android and the n1 but I'm sure there are more reasons and more reasons to come as devs get creative.

It has nothing to do with getting our post counts up and everything to do with having a clean, uncluttered and efficient forum. No one likes to see the same questions asked every few days. The point of a forum is for it to serve as a repository of information to help and educate future enthusiasts. This guy isn't special and somehow entitled to create another redundant thread instead of using the search function like the rest of us do.. Not to mention he said in his original post that he rooted his G1.

Why the hell isn't there an official stickied topic listing the pros and cons of rooting your device. The first thing people would see before they go asking repeated questions would be that thread.
Good question...the info was stickies in the G1 forum..probably still is.

Which is why the op's question should have either been answered or his topic reported. What could have been very simple has turned to a two page topic with only a few post that actually answer the question and it's not because of the op. It's because of all the other post within the topic that are completely of topic including this one.

Every time someone asks THIS question. It's about 10 pages of people giving different great benefits. What difference is 2 pages telling the guy to Lrn2Surch

Development stickies

Hello! Recently, as many of us have noticed, the moderator of the Vibrant forums here on XDA has decided to consolidate all of the sticky threads in to a single thread. I, and several other members of XDA, have some major concerns with this including:
Former stickies are mixed in with development threads
Stickies are more difficult to find
Stickies receive less attention, and therefore there is less incentive to update them
Since having easy to access information reduces the number of off-topic and question posts over in development I put forth a suggestion to our moderator, that the users of XDA decide if the stickies are returned or an alternative solution is devised! If there is a majority in favor of changing the presence of the stickies mmelo has stated that he will abide by the will of the users.
If anyone has any alternative solutions besides the ones I have posted in the poll please come forward with them!
Being someone who has two of these stickies, the ones geared for those who need the most help... And the amount of time I spent... And for all those who post questions in them that I answer...
I'm a little offended and upset. I mean first there were stickies that had absolutely no business being stickied and now lumping them all together (now I have no clue if someone posts a question).. Whatever, I've taken a break from it for a few days and it's been nice. Perhaps this is my sign to just quit trying to help so much.
Perhaps we just need a new bibrant moderator too though.
Edit: I guess my suggestion is:
How it was before (before meaning not including threads that should not be stickies)
a new mod, someone who has a pulse on the vibrant and speaks English (isn't that a guideline for being a mod)... I mean absolutely no disrespect, just being honest.
My suggestion was to remove threads like the Nero fixes and stuff and the Samsung numbers.
Not your threads but I guess he didn't exactly understand, but this being a mobile website and all the stickies were filling up most of the screen.
There's plenty positives about this and negatives, but the statement its harder to find is BS.
U guys tell newbies to search anyways and searching will only lead to the same thread.
Find a post where I said search, AND didn't provide an answer.
It is harder. If someone posts a question, I have no clue now unless my thread happens to be on page 1.
The only positive I see is that you don't have to scroll down as much...
You know if you guys don't like what he is doing to the vibrant forum you can always go above him and let the administrators know.
A mod is just an employee and they aren't perfect, some even abuse their powers at times.
Ultimately if the forum members aren't happy then let the people above the mods know.
I personally think there were too many stickies to begin with, but sticking them all in one, including the bible and noob guide was a bad idea. Just my opinion that is all.
As someone who searched first and asked later. I miss the previous setup.

Why are you saying search???
Its the first thing up there. WHY ARE YOU SEARCHING?
clicking 1thing to get info on 5 other threads isn't that hard.

Moderators???

Where are you guys? I have known XDA to be a place of organization... a place to be used as a top-notch resource... but 3/4 of the threads in this Atrix forum are rediculous! It is non-stop, people posting each and every little issue or question in a brand new, seperate thread! Please help clean up this forum, myself, and a ton of other people are counting on this place as a main source of information for our device!
Thank you very much.
And to the trolling posters out there:
-It doesn't matter which phone you came from! It doesn't need to be a thread!
-If you really don't like the Atrix and are returning it - go for it! Nobody cares what you are going back to. This is a place for people who have, and plan on keeping the device!
-If you dislike an aspect of the device, you don't need to make a thread about it!
-If you have a very general question, use the search function first please!
-If the search function fails, try google!
-If you don't own the device, please don't post your trolls here!
-If you are thinking about getting the device, read the Engadget review, it is helpful.
-If you are posting a comment that seems to be very general, chances are - it is! Try attaching that comment to a thread already in existence (ie, if you want to talk about a particular case under the accessory forum, post it to case thread, instead of asking a specific question on a specific case in a new thread.
-Please read the OP! Chances are, your question's answer is in that post...

Seriously!
And to break my own rules, I am coming from the Inspire forums... which are completely moderated, organized (and de-*****ed). It's enough already - this is a place for people who plan on having the Atrix for some time and want to discuss and make their experiences better.
So much *****ing and fanatism! I agree. Some moderation is needed urgently!
By the way, Atrix is a great phone as well as many other Android devices. 1,000 posts of comparison are not enpugh for people to understand what the phone is and how it works?

well said OP!
I'm sat here using a wildfire, waiting (not so) patiently for the Atrix to be launched in the UK. I assumed that the wildfire board was so bad because it was a cheap phone, but no, this board is going the same way!
hopefully it will get sorted out before I get mine, and the fan boy agitators move back to their own turf

Hi,

I installed it, charged it to the Max, powered it down, and put it in the cupboard for a week.
And guess what. There was still some charge on it when I switched it on again!

Great, another "whats got bets battery life" topic, we have been running short on these and other circular never ending topics like them, lets all enjoy at the finality of the answers.
Go and try some roms and find out what has best battery life for YOU because what MAY have good life for us doesn't necessarily translate to best for YOU.

you guys might be pro at flashing but there will always be some one like me who is new to this forum.. and I don't think the question about best ROM and best battery life will stop... be honest... if you were new to this forum,, where would you start?"?

That doesnt mean you cant point out the fact that its a rediculous topic to make because its already been made over and over again, In the least it will make the OP aware that next time he/she/himshe needsto use search or take a simple browse of the sections before cteating a topic (ITS ALSO IN THE RULES AT NUMBER 1)

Is this some kind of joke? Are you seriously asking this question?
I start the same place I would do on ANY forum...

All these "best" topics are completley useless other then to clog up the forum with useless junk, There is just too many of them and they always have the same answers. In some section they get closed/deleted by mods so its not as if we are complaining for no reason.
Anyway, Welcome to the HD2 forum some advice for you...
DO NOT create topics in the dev section, Its for posting dev releases/work/reference ONLY!
DO NOT create "Best rom" or "Best Battery" or any other kind of "best" topics as they will always get same response, "best" is subjective upon the user, The ONLY way to find the "best" is to try it yourself because best for you is not always best for us etc.
PS. Incase you wasnt aware, All XDA n00bs at registration are give this video to watch so they have absolutely no excuse creating topics that are going to be obviously a FAQ, Its just common sense, ANY question that a n00b can think of has very likely already been asked AND answered a million times already so all they have to do is take 2 seconds to look, its as simple as that.

OK so the new to the forum thing should have been new to HD2 forum. I have been following the galaxy S forum for last few months. so I know the basics..
but I don't want to go through tens of threads so the best thing would be to ask or look for best ROM topic..
yes it is irritating to read all the best ROM, kernel topics but that's what newbies like to know.. I think the solution would be add a newbie section.. so that the development section will remain clean.. or you could just stop replying to such threads... whats up with that? ?
