I have SM-G900F International model. Its rooted with towelroot and super su. Status is set to Official with Wanam xposed.
The question is: Can i just install update (over the air) or do i need to first unroot phone and install it then?
P.S. Stock rom/kernel/rom (nothing changend exept root)
Thanks in advance (and sorry for my bad english)

The Wanam "official" trick, doesn't fool the phone. It will not be able to do OTA updates. For that, it needs to be restored to unrooted stock for real.
But use ODIN for updates instead, then custom / official doesn't matter.
I am new to samsung devices, so i have another (stupid) question: when i download new firmware, can i just copy it to phone and install it with mobile odin pro? Or do i need to extract everything and to install every component (rom kernel recovery....) separatly via pc version of odin?
And, do i lose root with odin upgrade?
Thank you in advance

Best way imo is to flash the updated rom with Mobile Odin Pro and enable Evverroot, inject superSU and the other option. This way you can upgrade and keep root without tripping KNOX.

I just tested Towelroot on my GT-I9506 running latest NEE 4.3 and it worked like a charm and did not trigger Knox.

Please, can you help me?
I've downloaded the towelroot apk and installed it. Then, once the phone was rebooted, I've installed supersu from playstore, but it ask me to update de SU binaries, I select the normal option but it gives me a message about samsung knox and if I want to try to disable it, I select no because I don't know if it will affect to the knox counter.... What are the steps please?
And if I download the suggested SuperSU from the towelroot thread, I can't install it because it's a flashable zip that I can't install because I have stock recovery...

Towelroot installs needed files for root. I didnt install SuperSU at all from play store cause its not latest version.
ChainFire is updating SuperSU soon and when latest version (1.99) is online you can install it from play store.
After Towelroot I just installed Titanium Backup (and pro key) and freezed all crap including knox.
After using towelroot on a KNOX-enabled stock 4.3 device, is is possible to revert back to the 4.2.2 bootloader without burning the e-fuse?
Ok, tried to delete system apps, including the knox ones, with root explorer and was successfull!
And about the downgrade, it will change the knox status for sure, because knox is in the bootloader too, not only the apps and libraries, and here, root doesn't made any chance...

The KNOX e-fuse should be burned only by the bootloader in ODIN mode when it flashes an unsigned file to the device. Getting local root on the device and writing a new bootloader directly to the flash should not be able to affect the e-fuse?

It is slightly wrong. You shoud burned KNOX when you flash different version of kernel, recovery, bootloader.
You can flash system, modem, NON-HLOS and maybe others. I've tested only system and NON-HLOS.
Now I have my GT-I9506 Singapore version with KNOX warranty void 0x0 in this configuration:
System and NON-HLOS from Finladian version: I9506XXUBNE1
The others from original Sigapore version: I9506XXUBND2
towelroot.com installed and working!
Thanks to towelroot

Yes, but you are talking about flashing this via download/odin mode, right?
My point is that with root, you should be able to modify the flash directly, overwriting the bootloader.
Would it be possible to receive original updates OTA with this root?

As we have root I would think (so don't quote me on this) that OTA is blocked. But as I see it it does not really matter as the next update for this devise is probably going to be 4.4.2 and flashing that probably also means loosing root.
Now that was a lot of probably but as I see it..
You need "Official" status under Phone Info to receive OTA updates. ROOT will be overwritten by the updates.
After root it's very common to have "Custom" status, but you can cheat it with Traingle away app (not tested by me) or sometimes you can be "Official"after Wipe ( it depends what changes has been done to the system)

I would think getting the OS" 4.4.2 is only part of the package (BTW 4.2.2 vrzn w/gs4 rooted with ease) but you also get other surprises...
Not exactly like a box if lucky charms either.
Samsung or vrzn either one are not fond of rooting.
Triangle away didn't help me unless i did something wrong.. I still have the unlock icon when booting and phone info says "custom" but knox is 0x0

Don't know why he doesn't label his site or the filename better but it should be the latest version when you download from his site.
When you open the app to install it, it should say the version at the top.

I unrooted my G900T (previously rooted via Towelroot V2) using SuperUser so that I could update my firmware via Kies (OTA kept failing every time regardless of being unrooted). Now I'm unsupported by Towelroot... T_T
Has anyone else become unable to root theirs after the update?
Previous firmware: G900TUVU1ANCH
Present firmware: G900TUVU1BNF6

You can root using cf-root method be chainfire even if you are on the latest firmware
but be carefull it will trip knox and void your warrenty
if you dont want this you have to wait an update for towlroot to be able to root the latest firmware
I dont think towelroot will be updated seeing as geo works at google now...

Ah yeah, I was using towelroot precisely because I didn't want to void knox. Blah! I've only had it rooted for less than 2 months, so I haven't really done much to have it bother me anyway.

Or you could do a forum search and stumble across better options.
No need to wait for a towel root update.
The latest update may block the Towel root exploit.. but you can still use Odin to install a pre-update version of your stock firmware and [drum roll], towel root will work again. And no Knox increment.
Samsung may eventually add another qfuse to block this method, but for now it works well. You need to revert to a pre June 3rd build of your stock 4.4.2 S5 software to do this.
.
Hello,
i use a G900F and had root with towelroot.
i did an update on my Phone today to G900FXXU1ANG8. the installation went perfect.
but after the update i tried a new search for a software update and now i got the notification:
the operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. try downloading software updates using samsung kies on your pc or visit a customer service center.
I also use the app Phone info and when i check my knox counter it says 0X0 so normally this isnt triggerd.
when i connect to kies it just says my Phone has the latest software?

did you check whether its properly Rooted using SU or Root checker?
Also not all Kitkat compatible Xposed modules are working with Lollipop (esp in Touchwiz)
And what recovery have you installed to flash ROM?
i checked it with root checker app get it through play store... it shows my device is rooted but still i am not able to install omega rom. i rood my mobile with ( CF-Auto-Root-ha3g-ha3gxx-smn900) with odin BASEBAND N900DDUEBOB1. & STILL IT SHOWS STOCK RECOVERY MODE.
You need to flash recovery separately.
If you read instructions in CF Auto Root, they'd have mentioned as Outcomes as (Root + Stock Recovery)
Flash TWRP or Philz after that

What's going to happen to my SM-G900I thats got root (running stock) when it receives the marshmallow update. Sorry for the simple question. Thanks
marshmallow update
Hey there! your root will probably be lost if you accept the OTA (over the air) marshmallow. My best advice to you is this:
1. DON'T accept the update. (caps lock for emphasis only). You, as the subscriber, can only accept the update. The carrier can't "force update' your phone without your permission.
2. wait until a dev "captures" the update and "injects" the root (if available) in the marshmallow stock rom.
3. as a rooted user myself, exercise your due patience and wait it out. don't *ask* for ETA from a dev -- it's mean. =)
I hope this helps. =)
You won't get OTA updates if you're rooted, you'll have to update manually then root again

So I will have to do a full unroot to get the update normally, and would manually updating just be flashing the stock mm rom?

Full unroot doesn't seem to revert the device "Custom" status, which is what stops the OTA, to "Official" which is the status needed for OTA
The only way to return the device to Official is to flash a stock ROM with ODIN, that will unroot you and return the device to Official and OTA will work
And yes, Flashing manually is flashing a stock ROM with ODIN
