OK Google "navigate" and others not working - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I have recently started to use "OK Google" more and more frequenty, especially after getting my Moto360 watch.
Unfortunately I have realised that not all the "OK Google" functions that were supposed to work, is working.
Here I am especially referring to the following which I've tried and confirmed not working:
"navigate to ......."
"directions to ....."
"where am I"
"How many GB pounds in 1 dollar?"
"set alarm to 3 hours from now" nor "set alarm"
Actually most of the commands shown on the "ok-google-20-useful-things-you-can-say-to-your-android-phone" list from makeuseof doesn't work (do a Google to find the link )
My Nexus 4 has the latests 4.4.4 installed and "OK Google everywhere" is also working everywhere as supposed to, recognizing my "OK Google" command.
But instead of doing the actual action I'm asking/requesting it is always just doing a normal "search" on Google and displays the results
Any idea of how to solve this problem?
It should be noted that I am not located within the US if it has anything to do with this?
Best regards
Thomas Jespersen

Voice commands and google now cards not working in EU

Hi, i've been searching the nexus forum through but haven't found any solution that would work on my tablet.
My problem is this: i bought the UK nexus 7 and am using it in the scandinavia. whenever i try to assign a voice command like "set alarm to 21:30" or "show pictures of cyanogenmod", it just does a google search and shows the results. I can't see any of the cards nor can i use any of the voice commands.
I tried switching the tablet language to english (US and UK) and install all the offline voice recognition libraries. I've also gone through the google now setup and allowed all location information etc.
In another thread it was suggested that i should get a trial of google apps for business and from there switch on the google one for my tablet, but this seems completely ridiculous (and it won't solve the fact that also the voice commands are not working).
Does anyone have a hint on what i should try next to get the commands to work and cards to show?
Works for me when it finally understands me. Settings are English US and it will play tracks, tell me the weather, search apps and set alarms from what I've tried so far.

the problem here is not that it would not understand me. the problem is that it understands completely well the sentence "set alarm at 21:30" but it does a google search of it! whatever command i try from the google voice commands list at google help center, it just does a google search. it does not set alarms, it does not show pictures of androids, it does not show me a weather card. i just get a google search result for "weather in xyz"
i find this puzzling

I'm in the UK, but as long as the device region is set to US (Settings > Language & Input), it works fine. I can say "remind me to drop a coil at 8 O'Clock tomorrow" and I get an alarm set, or "Show me pictures of black cats", and lots of kittehs come up...
You lot not downloaded the UK English pack?
That's strange, if I'm using the french command for "Open Gmail" for example, it does a google search of "open Gmail". I even tried the english sentence, and it does the same thing.
I changed my phone language, tried "Open Gmail", it does a google search and then, says Opening apps and Gmail starts !
I'm using CyanogenMod 10.1 M1

You have to change the system language too.

I know that, but I don't want. Is it a bug, is there plan to correct this ? Is it a Google issue or is it CM ?

It's not a bug, it was meant like this. Google now needs that you use a us or Canadian English as the system language. I would like that there was one in French though.

Even though 'Language and Input Settings' have something to do with this, you also need to change 'ACCOUNTS AND PRIVACY' settings in Google Now settings. You need to enable 'Google location settings'. If already enabled, try also switching on 'Google Location Reporting' > 'Location Reporting' > it should be 'On for this device'. Hope this helps!

Voice command/Navigation question

Hi, sorry if this question has been asked already. I tried searching online with no luck.
I want to be able to use the "Okay Google" command and say "Directions home/work" or something similar. I tried it today with no luck. I'm really not understanding why since I have my home location set up in Google Maps. I've done it before with directions to a restaurant.
Also, I know Google Now always has that "Navigate home" card but I really prefer not to use Google Now.
Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks in advance.
Say okay Google in the home screen with the Google search bar widget. You may have problems because you are using a custom launcher that does not support the feature, did not set up your Google now launcher language to English (us), or you are just saying it wrong

I don't think so. Only one can be used at a time.

someone commented than if Moto is configured, if Moto doesn´t understand what you say, Ok google with respond, and it works!!!
but you don´t have to use "Ok google", you have to use "Ok Moto X" and from Moto Voice command say anything you would say to google now, then Moto will transfer automatically to google now
Great!!:good::good:
Unfortunately, once you activate the "Talk to me Minion" moto voice command phrase, the phone stops listening to the default "Ok Google" from any screen but is fully functional by using the Moto command personalized phrase... tiny bit slower to reply but great functionality

Help changing "Ok Google" hotword with AutoVoice on Nexus 6p

I followed the instructions on this archived reddit post with my nexus 6p.
"How to change the trigger word for google now" (no direct link because I am too new.)
I cannot seem to get it working, so I thought I would ask for some help.
I have tried systematically switching on and off options in AutoVoice, e.g., "run in foreground" and "alternative method", and substituting other apps in place of "VoiceSearchActivity" in Tasker, e.g., "DspHotwordVoiceSearchActivity", but no luck.
The hardware and up-to-date Google Now app in my nexus 6p should be compatible with this method.
Has anyone with a nexus 6p, or anyone with Marshmallow got this working?
I am using AutoVoice (v 2.0.46) with AutoVoice Pro Unlock.
Thanks!
Sorry not much help, but I thought you could change the trigger word(s) to anything you wanted?
I tried for about 20 min to retrain "ok google" to another phrase but it would only recognize "ok google." Maybe retraining worked in previous versions, but even "ok Jarvis" did not work.
Just a crazy thought, I wonder if the default language has anything to do with the stringency for "ok google" recognition. Maybe people who were successful at retraining the "ok google" trigger use a different default language.

ok google hotword issue

Hey.
I get the Nova since a few weeks now and can't use the "OK Google" phrase to activate the vocal search command. When I try to set it by learning assistant in Google app > Voice > OK Google anywhere (something like that), it says my mic is unavailable. I join a screen capture.
Thanks for your help.
same problem
I can confirm that I have the same issue on my phone. CAN-L11C432B100

I too have the same issue, i find it very frustrating. I think the Hivoice app ( hided ) is blocking the Ok google detection. Hope an update will fix that, maybe with android nougat.
