Look here for device CF_Auto Root click the download link
Then flash using Odin download here extract files from the zip
A good guide to Odin here its in the S3 forum but the process is the same
This process will trip Knox warranty
1. Download Odin from the link above and extract the Odin folder from the zip file to your PC
2. Download the CF-Auto Root from the link above extract the md5 file from the zip and put it in the Odin folder.
3, Click the link to the Odin flashing guide and follow the process shown

Hi, Thanks for your information.
G9009W is not in the CF-Auto-Root device list. So I just wonder if any chance to have it done. I just failed uploading the recovery.img file here, why ?
Again, thank you from those struggling with rooting this "not so hot" model.

Its not me the link is to Chainfire CF-Auto Root thread put you recovery.img in a zip file, click the link here scroll down to the second post and click reply to it then ask Chainfire if he can make a CF-Auto Root for your device as its not already listed, add your zip file to your post direct from your PC so he has the recovery image.
Also give him the details of the device model

Can you upload yourself to a server location such as Google Drive, Dropbox etc then get the link and simply paste it into your message to Chainfire so don't try to post the actual link just a text version in your message body so it would look like this http:// www .mediafire.com/download/12iuwe7ja320bbl/Odin_v3.07.zip
It is a new member restriction stopping you posting the actual link, don't know if this will work though but give it a try.

If you have flashed with Odin before you will know the process but just in case you have missed something below is what you need and what to do, the original Samsung S5 USB cable is important to use, I tried originally with my S3 USB cable and it failed, swapped it for the S5 cable and flashed straight away without any problem.
1. A recent version of Odin like the one in my earlier link.
2. Extracted the md5 image from the CF-Auto Root zip file
3. You a\re using the original Samsung S5 USB cable and not any other micro USB cable
4. You have the most recent Samsung drivers installed
The best way to ensure you keep these up to date is to install Kies 3, you don't need to use it but it is best for keeping the drivers up to date
5. If you do have Kies installed make sure it is not running even in the background when using Odin
6. Put your phone in download mode and connect to your PC
7. Start Odin and wait for the ID;Com to indicate usually highlighted in blue
8. Click the PDA and locate your CF-Auto Root md5 file
9. Wait for Odin to check the file
Once checked and ready click start and let the process run, the phone will reboot once finished and you should have root.
Android 5.0 Galaxy S5 T-Mobile
Hi,
I apologize in advance if this has been answered, but I've been searching online for a while and can't get a clear cut answer.
I rooted my Galaxy S5 back in May using Chainfire AutoRoot for the T-Mobile version, SM-g900t. Haven't flashed anything since; just wanted to have root access for a couple apps.
When Android 5.0 Lolipop rolls out to the Galaxy S5, how can I update my phone to that? Would I have to unroot, update to Lolipop OTA, and root again? (if so, would I have to find a different method of rooting or can I use the same Chainfire AutoRoot?)
Or is there a way to update to Lolipop without losing my root?
Thanks, in advance.

[/INDENT]Yesterday I rooted my Verizon Galaxy Note III using the Towelroot method and everything was working. I installed SuperSU and all of the other works. Little did I know I went and installed CWM and soft bricked my device. I was able to follow steps given to me in a previous thread but the download links for the OTA 4.4.2 update were taking way too long. So I went and downloaded the 4.4.3 links and they downloaded in a fraction of the time. So I continued following the steps that were given except the file I downloaded is an .MD5 file and not a .PIT . So I guess this is two questions in one. 1. Is it ok for me to move up a version? 2. How do I use the MD5 in ODIN. If someone can give me a few pointers that would be great. Thanks so much. :cyclops:

4.4.3 is not available for the Note 3 and it will not work. Once you're on the OTA version of 4.4.2 you can not downgrade since you're on the NC4 bootloader. You'll have to enter download mode and flash the stock NC4 Tar file that you can find HERE. You have to put the .md5 file in the AP slot. Patience Grasshopper...

Buddy we cant install Custom Recovery like CWM or TWRP in our devices because out Bootloaders are locked, so never try it again...
The solution is to install the latest Safestrap v3.72 for Kitkat currently which is safe...
4.4.3 is still under testing for Note 3 and will be launched in future...currently the latest version for our device is 4.4.2,so no matter what dont try to install newer version which are not yet launched for Verizon Note 3...
Please follow this thread to flash in ODIN if you have bricked your device...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610757
Make sure you download the NC4 Stock ROM only...
Thanks!!!

Thanks so much! Do you mind taking a look at my "I think I broke my phone thread?"
Please follow all the steps or you'll have bricked device
Step 1 :
This is the easiest way to enable USB debugging.
Dial *#0808#
Select last option, DM+Modem+ADB
YOUR PHONE MUST ASK FOR USB DEBUGGING AUTHORIZATION ! YOU MUST CHECK ALWAYS ALLOW FROM THIS COMPUTER AND THEN PRESS OK. IF YOU DO NOT GET THIS DO NOT PROCEED
Step 2:
Reboot phone into download mode
Select PDA slot in odin
And flash the tar file root kernel (you'll need to extract contents of rar file and rename file to boot.tar)
Your device will not have display but it will still be working, run saferoot.
Step 3:
Use saferoot thanks to k1mu, Surge1223, download is at the end of the post linked below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48392009&postcount=1
After phone reboots for first time remove USB and enter download mode.
Step 4:
Select PDA slot in odin
And flash the tar file restore display kernel (you'll need to extract contents of rar file and rename file to boot.tar)
Step 5:
Install Supersu from market and open it. Continue with saferoot, that is waiting for the phone.
When flashing the root_boot.tar.md5 i get an error.
<OSM> MD5 hash value is invalid
<OSM> root_boot.tar.md5 is invalid.
---------- Post added at 03:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:12 PM ----------
nvm, I fixed it by removing the .md5 extension.
You're awesome! Thanks!
Nice work.
Looks like we're flashing 4.2.2's kernel, rooting, then flashing 4.4.2's kernel again.
I guess this also means there is the potential to downgrade back to 4.2.2 completely with mobile odin now...
Did you guys have any trouble getting SuperSU to update the su binary?
SU works, just prompts me to update the binary and fails.

You can downgrade to 4.2.2, just flash the stock bootloader first, then it will let you flash the ROM. I had to do it because I bricked at the 4.4.2 upgrade.

I have not been able to find the JB bootloader. It's out there? The ROMs on Sammobile don't include it... I had previously bricked trying to downgrade due to the locked KK bootloader.

Sorry, I misspoke. I don't know if it was the bootloader or something else. Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55251936&postcount=18
Also, root works!
Someone want to explain how those two files could be flashed via ODIN?

From the SM-G730A.
"Root kernel" is simply the 4.2.2 stock kernel, which worked with Saferoot previously, and still does.
"Restore display kernel" is the stock 4.4.2 kernel you started with, you're just reflashing it after rooting.
I extracted boot.img from each ROM (4.2.2 and 4.4.2), created my own tar.md5 files and was able to root successfully also. I'm not sure why the ones in this post don't work with the md5 extension. It's a great idea.

It seems that the SuperSU version (2.01) that is currently (13/10/2014) on the Play Store is outdated. You need to do the following:
1) Download v 2.13 of Chainfire's SuperSU from his Google+ page (I cannot post the link here as I am a new user)
2) Extract the .zip file and find 'Superuser.apk'
3) Transfer 'Superuser.apk' to SD card of your phone
4) Open 'Superuser.apk' from your phone and install/update
5) After the installation/update is complete, open SuperSU and update binary (normal method)
Good luck. I just used this thread to root my Samsung SIII Mini (SM-G730A) from Fido. Working great so far. Thanks atinder! :good:
Great post
It's a great post, I would like thank az4x4runner and wisdom and all of you guys, if you do it step by step is a 123 solve for the ATT S3 Mini SM-G730A 4.4.2 Root :good::good::victory::victory:
I can confirm that I've rooted my G730A using the steps given and with the SuperSU apk provided. The first thing I did was bypass Kitkat's SD card limitations -- everything is now exactly the way I want it. Thank you all!
I need help. I tired to root my g730a and I followed all the steps and now my phone has a blank screen with the blue light on. How can I fix this? thanks!

nvm, I got it to work.
Recovery
Which recovery works for 4.4.2?
Will this work on Verizon SIII mini running 4.4.2? I successfully rooted my Galaxy Tab with Odin and it was easy as pie. This looks a lot more complicated and I have already tried TowelRoot, Saferoot, etc with no success.

Well I finally made the switch from Apple to android. I could no longer take the incompatibility with different toys at home. I used to work at RadioShack and I have rooted quite a few phones. I recently purchased a s5 international version, I need to root the phone for mirror play with my appradio. I have spent a few hours reading and trying, I took it to a droid friend of mine and he attempted with no joy. What info do you guys need from me to make thei happen. It says 5.0 (guessing lollipop)....... I tried rooting with Odin.
Thanks for any help guys
Flash TWRP then try flashing SuperSU.zip

Agree with previous poster, but you need to flash *specifically* twrp 2.8.7.0 klte......
For some reason, this version is the only one that works with some LP firmwares....
And make sure 'Reactivation Lock' is switched off before you start.
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
Thanks I'll try that version. I kno I've tried flashing twrp 10x. When I try to enter twrp mode it never works. It goes to the normal page. I'll do it again tonight when I get home so I can give very clear data regarding what I'm running into.
I have followed the instructions posted by others step by step and it either boots into recover mode as if twrp was never installed or freezes and goes into a boot mode flux. Wish I could just pay someone to root this phone..... I am beginning to think it can not be rooted..... Does anyone have a link for updated instructions bc the ones I'm using are from March 2015...... I am using Odin 3.09.
Did you try CF Auto Root first?
I don't see it mentioned
And try ODIN 3.10.7
He mentioned trying to root using Odin, I guess he tried CF method using the tar file.

Flashing TWRP from ODIN then SuperSU from TWRP is another way to root using ODIN
But also, some people have no clue what they are doing, and try flashing all sorts from ODIN - without CF actually mentioned, we are guessing
Even with Lollipop, you can still root your Galaxy S5 using CF Auto Root. It is flashable via Odin.
When you install custom ROMs or recovery like TWRP, make sure Reactivation Lock is disabled or else it will block any custom binary it would detect.

Download a stock firmware from sammobile.com, preferrably ANE2 KitKat build. Flash it via Odin then once the firmware works, go to Security settings then disable Reactivation Lock. You should be able to flash a custom recovery and boot to it then.

Yes
First goto download mode in mobile by pressing
Power+home+volume down buttons at same time for 5 seconds
Extract the twrp zip and load it in odin in AP tab
Then
Then connect to system and flash twrp via odin
Then
In twrp recovery clear data, internal, cache, dalvik and preload
Then flash the rom zip from sd card
You'll need to flash TWRP via ODIN first. Or you can use CF-Root and then install TWRP using TWRPManager but that would also require an Odin flash. Considering your "usb connector" isn't working, I cant think of any possible way.
Did you try changing the usb wire?
G900F using XDA App
yes my friend it is the problem I can not use odin because the usb isn't working that is why i need to flash via micro sd, and yes I did changing usb wire as well
If your phone already has root you can download flashfire from playstore and use that to install the update from your SD card, either an Odin .tar file or a zip file.
Yes daroco my S5 is rooted and I have flashfire as well ,but what recovery TWRP Do I need to flash for this way? thx
Use original Samsung cable and check if it works
yash92duster my friend I am using original Samsung cable, but the problem is same, I am sure I have corrupted files on my Rom , that is why i want to flash the Rom to fix that issue

Hi there, I have same issue, have s7 edge sm-G935F stuck at logo. I downloaded 2 different firmware from z3x box(shell) and if keep failing when using odin (latest) and also getting error when using Samsung tool. Also I can't get in the phone menu to check the baseband..can only get model from download model.any advice to this?
Same issue as well on my sm-g985v Verizon variant
Flashed an update to work out minor lagging bugs and soft bricked my S7. Can access bootloader and recovery. Beyond that, the phone gets there but with black screen and it is sputtering off and on. Tried reflashing stock firmware with odin, and its not taking. Running into a permission error while trying to write the image. Anyone here have any ideas?

Download orginal firmware fro sammobile, unpack and flash with Odin 3.12.3.
Download the firmware from your area, the one that comes with your phone.
Use the right regional code and everything when you download firmware.
Also, have you guys flashed the right bootloader and modem beforehand?

So you flashed a beta firmware, the name of which you don't feel is necessary information.
OK. Shame I hate popcorn. How about INFORMATION instead?!

It was my understanding it was already in the package. Questioning that one now. Where do i look for that? And thank you for responding back. Downloading your first suggestions as i type this...
I have downloaded two non branded firmware for the Netherlands from samdroid. I had unpacked the zip and flashed the files. For the csc selection I put the one named home csc

When downloading original firmware there should be 4 files when unzip.
1 for each of the options in Odin, without the last one named home.
Some of the custom roms comes with bootloader and modem, but NOT ALL.
Most times you have to flash the right bootloader and modem in Odin beforehand to get the phone to boot.
Im unsure of what has happened because I have never run into issues myself.
If you can not get the phone to boot with firmware from Sammobile and Odin flash I am out of options.
If I do experience a problem like this I would:
-install bootloader and modem according to the custom rom used. Try and flash these with odin more than ones, if not working.
-if no recovery, try flash recovery again
-try flash another custom rom then another custom rom
-return to stock firmware downloaded trough Sammobile
If none of these options work im out of things to do, sorry
The times I have experienced phone stuck on Samsung logo, it has been because of bootloader and/or modem.
Flashing the right ones have always fixed the problem.
That said, I have never experienced problems with returning to stock firmware trough Odin, maybe one time.
And this time my firmware download was corrupted.

This is wrong, you should use the file named only CSC.
Home_CSC, is to keep your setup on phone as is.
I also remember that you have to remove the meta data directory, and then repack firmware or the install will stop.
And this is also NOT a good option if you use another firmware than the original on phone.
Installing firmware with Odin, always use BL, AP, CP and CSC.
Try this and forget about the Home_CSC.
I don't have anymore info, sorry
Thank you very much. I will try it. I will let you know.
Gentlemen, my appreciations and thanks. Was able to finally get the stock firmware to grab. After more time disecting the problem i learned about and was able to uncover the maintenance boot screen. There it had the option to do usb debug . Once i hit that, next flash finished fully. It must of reser in the dev options after the initial root. Damn, i was sweating balls for a bit thinking i must of hard bricked it somehow. I will take it throufh the toot process later today glitch free i imagine. Thanks again for assisting,

Buy pressing and holding power and volume down key, until you get to the screen.
Same procedure as download mode, but without the big button

Even this thread is old:
Thank you so much, bricked my phone unknowingly flashing custom recovery using a defektive usb port struggling to get it working again. This worked like a charm.
Don´t understand why the orthers did struggle with that method.
