Fantastic phone!!!!

good morning! I just ordering in amazon.es (http://www.amazon.es/Motorola-Moto-...uad-Core/dp/B00GOYN5TE/ref=pd_bxgy_e_img_b)'m from Spain, but I still need to wait a while to make it available for sale this terminal.
is this acceptable terminal requirements for today?

The Moto G easily the best cheap Android phone you can buy right now. (And probably the only Android phone at this price point that delivers a user experience of this quality.) Every criticism of the Moto G has to be framed against its ludicrously low price. It’s frankly amazing that a manufacturer is able to put together a device like the Moto G for £135 and make money selling it.
Nuthin' but a 'Moto G' thang

Great phone, but it doesn't have sdcard slot

Had Moto G for about 24 hours now, I am so impressed with this phone. I really want to let everyone know about it I have compared this phone a lot with Samsung S4, not because I hate it, instead it was my last phone and I have used it for months, so have a good idea of what I am on about
Screen
Some may consider the resolution on this phone being too low, compared to the high end flagship phones this is about 100 ppi less. But does this mean the screen is bad? No. In fact, I am loving it more than the AMOLED on Samsung s4. First of all, I am just going to say that above 300ppi I can't tell the difference. To me, 400+ ppi = higher battery drain + requires more CPU + requires more GPU. Just why? Maybe there are some untold benifit of higher ppi screens, but to me I just don't see any advantage what so ever. Apart from the fact you could say to your mate "my phone's ppi is higher than yours...". So this to me is a big thumb up!
Speed
Before we talk about anything else, I want to mention speed of this phone. My S4 was running stock android 4.3 means I should see a massive different when I switch to this phone. But the reality is not the case, it really doesn't appear to be that much of a difference. There may be 1/5 of a speed difference when opening apps, but that is like 0.2 seconds? Even for inpatient person like me, it is more than acceptable. At the end of the day, it make you think what Samsung is doing with their snapdragon 600, when moto g can keep up using a snapdragon 400... This is on stock android, don't even mention touch wiz... But seriously find a review video or go to a shop and see it for yourselves.
Software/ROM
Well not much to say here, it is running basically stock Android 4.3 with a few minor tweaks e.g. camera.
Storage
8gb or 16gb, it is always the question. Previously i'd say get 16gb, more future proof, however I choose 8gb this time. Not because of the 50gb gdrive storage (pointless if you have no internet connection), instead you could get OTG so if you really want to watch films on trips you can do that. Otherwise, 5.5gb is enough for general app installs. For photos, turn on auto google+ photo back up (or dropbox backup whichever fits u better) then delete the photos on your phone once they are uploaded.
Camera
Haven't really tested it, but at least ok from what I can see and don't expect it to match DSLR
Hardware/Ergonomics
+ Curved back, easy to hold. I especially like the dented "M" logo, it gives more grip, helps when I need to touch the top of the screen.
- Phone is a bit heavy, for people like reading lying down for a long time might be a bit of a pain.
+ Back cover is removable, awesome! In fact, there a lot of covers coming out soon.
- Although, back cover is hard to remove and a bit slippery, not so awesome.
+ Volume key & power key on the same side.
- Clean design, coming from HTC and Samsung, I really enjoy this kind of simple design. I don't like the HTC/Samsung logo on the most obvious place on your phone kinda ruins the look of the phone.
+ No physical keyboard (some may consider this to be a minus instead of a plus), I am just glad don't need to worry about menu wearing out over time
- Speaker on the back side of the phone
+ Due to curved back, no speaker sound is actually trapped when you place it on the back
+ Both headphone port and micro-usb port are located middle of top and bottom side of the phone respectively, again just simple and nice to look at
- No 4G connectivity. Not a problem for me, as I don't even get 3G where I live, a lot of people living in cities might find this some what a deal breaker.
- No removable battery
- No expandable storage
Battery Life
All i am going to say is 4.5 hours screen on time, 60% left. :good: I am not convinced the stats is accurate, so testing it right now to see if it is really that good.
Update: second time, 4hours22min screen on time, 8 and half hours on battery, 43% remaining.
FM Radio
I was never a radio fan, always thought it was kinda out-of-date technology. Then I moved to an area where there are hardly any 3g/2g coverage at all on the way to work, karma i guess... You might say just download music from google music/sportify, but I don't change my songs frequent enough and it just gets old. Conclusion: always better to have a phone that has FM radio than a phone that doesn't.
Notification light
It is plain silly to me why some OEM would even consider not include a notification light on their phone. *cough* iphone. *cough* windows phone. It make things so much easier, when all you need to do is glance at it rather than turn on the screen, then turn it off again just to check if your missing anything important. There is no more needs saying, it is just playing annoying without one, so another plus.
Value for money
For most of the people, money is a key factor when buying a new phone. Even if the price is not a burden, you might still get the same feeling as me, thinking it cost quite a lot and make the promise to use it for 2 years or more. Well, with this phone you won't get that. In fact, I brought mine thinking I will use it as a back up phone since no other phone has its spec in its price range. But after I started using it, I couldn't put it down. Now I am not even considering getting nexus 5 which was going to be my main phone.
What I look forward to
Hell this is XDA, obviously I want lots and lots of ROMs XD. But I also can't wait for 4.4 to come out and ART to be stable. I imagine it would make this phone even faster. Saw some comparisons between Dalvik and ART, have to say ART wins hands down especially considering it is still in development stage.
Final thoughts
So happy with this phone, and mostly happy about Motorola stepping up and giving us this product. This is important in the sense, they are fighting a price battle for us, the consumers. We should show some support to let the other OEMs know it is not about how much they spend money on advertising, it is giving us a great product with a reasonable price instead of throw in some latest chips and mark it £599 rubbish which is basically what is happening right now.
Tips
I would recommend everyone get this phone, and get the 8gb version. Since it cost so little, no one could moan at you when you get a new phone next year

Please comapre Nexus 4 and MotoG interms of
Camera, performanceand other relevent fields.To
me some of the specifications seem similar.
i guess only the experienced users can actually advice
which one to buy.

In trying to figure out how this works because 2000mAh isn't even that big for a 4.5" screen.
For instance my Galaxy Note has a 5.2" screen which is roughly 10% bigger but has a 2500mAh battery which is 20% bigger. At best I've been able to get 5h SOT which is everything low or off, usually I get 3-4 which I consider decent because the nexus 5 gets around 3-5h SOT and has a similar size screen and battery.

The Note had a 5.3" screen.. That makes screen 38% bigger.
Also, the software makes a difference. And maybe the Snapdragon 400 is more efficient than the Exynos used by Samsung

I was going to say, your maths is a bit off there at 10%. You need to look at the area, not the diagonal length.
If you think back to when 4.5" screens where the norm on top end devices, most batteries were less than 1600mAh. The Desire HD for example had about 1300mAh I think.

....software optimization can go a long way, Motorola has compared the Moto G’s performance with the Samsung Galaxy S4, when performing minor tasks. Despite Moto G’s mid-range SoC, lower amount of RAM and less powerful graphics chip, the handset apparently manages to make a call 1.1 seconds faster than the Galaxy S4, it answers a call 1.2 seconds faster, returns home 0.5 seconds faster and boots up 5.3s quicker too....

Let's look at the numbers,
The Galaxy Note has a 1280x800 @5.3 inch screen -> 4.49" × 2.81" = 12.62in²
The Moto G has a 1280x720 @4.5 inch screen -> 3.92" × 2.21" = 8.65in²
-> The Galaxy Note has a screen 45.9% larger than the Moto G
-> The Galaxy Note also features a battery 25% larger than the Moto G
Remember, that the 4.5 and 5.3 numbers are the diagonal size and do not linearly represent relative screen sizes
The Moto G has a better (battery:screen size) ratio than the Galaxy Note.

How have you found the vibration motor on it? - to anyone who has one in hand yet.

I have had a nexus 4 for almost 2 years and I like it. Even so it has its negative points, especially after all this time. It's not as responsive as it used to be and battery life, which wasn't stellar to begin with, has decayed a lot. With this in mind I have been searching for a good phone to replace it. I was waiting for the Nexus 6 to come out but when it was officially announced that screen size and the price scared me away.
After the announcement I have been searching and comparing a bunch of phones. I was interested on the OnePlus One but the buying process is a pain in the ass. I checked the S5 but then I remembered it had the infamous Touchwiz which I had already (even though in an earlier incarnation) on a Galaxy Ace I had before the N4 and there was also the fact that it is expensive as hell on my carrier. I also checked the HTC One M8 but the camera resolution seems horrible. I have checked the Sony Xperia line but it is as expensive as the S5 in my carrier and also pretty expensive on sites like Amazon. At last I have been comparing between a Nexus 5 and a LG G3. I know they have almost a year between them but I like the fact that the Nexus 5 is cheap and receives fast updates, although I have heard battery life was not improved very much. And, on the G3's side, it is newer, has better hardware and supposedly has a good battery life(I have heard mixed views on this as some say battery is good while others say it is horrible).
So, to sum it up, I would like to know your opinions and would also like to know if you happen to know some other options I haven't considered.

Look at an LG G2. $400 for a new one, under $300 for a used one in good/mint condition. Beefy 3000mAh battery, very competent hardware, big screen in a not-so-big body, and a good amount of development if you want to try different ROMs/kernels. As cheap, or even cheaper, than a Nexus 5, but with a much bigger battery and better camera. With the G3 out, prices have plummeted on the G2, and have made it a veritable bargain.
The G3 is a hell of a phone. The QHD screen might drain the battery a bit more, but on this phone the battery is replaceable, so just buy a spare if you're worried about that. Not much development yet, but if you buy the T-Mobile version or one with an unlocked bootloader it's easy to root and modify with Xposed, which gives you plenty of options to tweak it to your satisfaction.
Regarding the HTC One's camera - it's not great, but it's not bad either. If all you're wanting to do is post pics to Facebook or internet forums, it's perfectly fine, since pictures will be reduced anyway. Where it suffers is in cropped detailed pics, and stuff like sweeping vistas and anything far away. That aside, the One is an awesome device.

My personal choice from what's available right now would definitely be the HTC One M8. If you don't care a huge deal about the camera then there are very few flaws to it at all. The camera on the M8 will definitely be worse in normal light than most other flagships but the pictures it takes are still far better than those from the N4 and in low light the camera performs better than most, not to mention the fact that it has good autofocus and a myriad of extra features which you may or may not find useful but they're still nice to have. Battery life is excellent, the screen is absolutely gorgeous, Sense brings extra features and (arguably) a nicer design than AOSP whilst retaining excellent performance and the phone is just generally far nicer to use than anything else I've tried.

Look for the Huawei Honor 6.
300$, full LTE, 16GB upgradable with microSD, beautiful 5" HD screen... I'm gonna buy this phone in the next week for replacement of my N4.

I went from a Nexus 4 to a HTC One M8 and hated it, hence why I'm back with my Nexus 4. That said, I'm definitely in the minority.

I don't have time for anything in depth right now, but I'll write up a quick summary.
I've had the device for 3 days now, and so far I can tell you this is hands down the best phone i have ever had the pleasure of using. I've been with HTC for almost 8 years now, starting with the Evo, then Evo 3D, then HTC One M7. I got fed up with their camera which ultimately made me switch to S6.
I got the black 32GB T-mobile model, and the phone is gorgeous. Build quality is exceptional and feels very solid in my hand. Everything is snappy and responsive. The fingerprint scanner works great, the screen is amazing, and battery life seems reasonable. It's hard to say how the batter will hold up in real world scenarios, since i can't leave the thing sitting for more than 5 minutes right now before i want to look at my new toy again. With extremely heavy use, I've been making it until about 7:00 PM before having to plug it back in.
Being an XDA fanboy, i rooted my phone the moment i got it and removed a lot of the bloatware. T-Mobile did not go overboard with bloatware, but being on custom ROMs for years makes any bloatware make my skin crawl. I was able to root it in minutes, load up Titanium, remove all the unwanted stuff, reboot...and am happy to say i am getting zero FC issues or any other issues for that matter.
The ONLY thing i can say i miss with this phone is the front facing stereo speakers from my HTC One. There's no question that those were better speakers than what the S6 has. Don't get me wrong though, the S6 speaker is sufficiently loud, it just lacks the depth of sound that my HTC One had. This is a sacrifice i will make with open arms though, given the near perfection this device has shown me so far.
In short, GET THIS PHONE! You won't regret it.

Rooting and the possible loss of Samsung Pay!

So after you rooted the device, I assume you ticked the Knox.
Is it still possible to use the Samsung Pay feature?
Forgive me for asking, but with the slimmed down TW,
what are the perks of rooting except full backups, titanium backup, custom roms and Xposed yet doesn't work on Samsung lollipop?
If you would answer, that would be much appreciated! I bought the device but sue to the easter holidays in Denmark, I will get it late next week! I would gladly leave my impressions , but for now, if you could help me with the possible Samsung Pay root issue, that would be great!

I'll keep the S5
In my opinion, Samsung has taken several steps backwards. No water resistance, no memory card and no replaceable battery. All three of these omissions are important to me. I'll just keep my S5 until Samsung sees fit to add these features back in a future version.
Apparently they think Apple has good ideas.

They won't see fit. This thing will sell like hot cakes.
They found that less than one per cent actually use the battery swapping or expandable memory.

In my opinion, Samsung has taken several steps backwards. No water resistance, no memory card and no replaceable battery. All three of these omissions are important to me. I'll just keep my S5 until Samsung sees fit to add these features back in a future version.

Well, Apple sells tens of millions of device agains a premium price. And it works for them, so SS would be stupid not to try to follow their footsteps.
This phone is what so many people where asking for. A good looking. premium built phone that you can show of to your friends for its looks, not its features.
Then again, all those premium materials go wasted as everybody buys a butt ugly case to protect those premium materials.... :silly:

That's a good point. My Spigen tough armor case hides most everything except the screen. What kind of case will protect the Edge model? I'm kind of a butter fingers and I won't carry an expensive phone in my pocket without a good protective case.

I'm still thinking if I should buy a case or not. From my experience, I've never needed one, seen from how long my iPhone 4 lasted. During the time I had it I went out almost every day, most of those days to drink in a bar or at a club, and despite dropping it quite a few times, those particular drops didn't break the glass. The metal sides got dented but that was about it. It's probably because most of the places I go through have smooth floors / carpets and the only times I slapped on a case was when I went hiking or something "adventurous". My iPhone 4 finally died though when my drunk friend grabbed it from me and ran towards the stairs of the club we were at. He stretched out his hand to prevent me from taking it from me and successfully dropped it 3 floors down. Good thing it was almost 4am and the crowd was thinning out so it didn't land on anybody's head (and based on how the iPhone 4 was the first "cement block" phone, that was a huge relief).
My iPhone 4 lived that long despite all it experienced so I'm sure that the S6 Edge, with it's reviews and drop tests will come out of the same experiences more unscathed compared to my iPhone 4.
That being said, I have still been researching on cases and so far I'll either buy a Speck or Ringke case.
... I can't even begin to share how excited I am to get my S6 Edge though. I never thought a Samsung phone would ever catch my eye (which was surprising since I find their TVs / monitors sexy as hell) but I'm sure glad that changed. The last time I got this excited for a phone was when the iPhone 4 was launched.

I was able to root it in minutes, load up Titanium, remove all the unwanted stuff, reboot...and am happy to say i am getting zero FC issues or any other issues for that matter.
The ONLY thing i can say i miss with this phone is the front facing stereo speakers from my HTC One. There's no question that those were better speakers than what the S6 has. Don't get me wrong though, the S6 speaker is sufficiently loud, it just lacks the depth of sound that my HTC One had. This is a sacrifice i will make with open arms though, given the near perfection this device has shown me so far.
In short, GET THIS PHONE! You won't regret it.

Since you have root, could you try installing something like v4a and let us know how it works please? Does it bug out? Im big on audio (which is why I got the M7, for its awesome audio mods) and really hoping to jump back on the Samsung ship with the S6.
After using an S4 before my M7, I'm a little cautious about Samsung though. Unlike HTC or Moto (Personal experience), their devices usually dont make it the long term, both in terms of hardware and software, so Im hoping Sammy fixed all these with the S6. Will definitely miss the Boomsound speakers, but the M9 seriously disappointed me this time

So by this reasoning, sales and profit margins do not equal a good product. You've just explained why I won't be buying an S6, or an iPhone.
I don't really think people are wanting this, they are just ignorant of smartphones. If they only knew what they could have in their hands.. Like the guy driving the Ford GT around town going 5 under the speed limit, never reaching 3,000 RPM.

If you, being a manufacturer notice that your competitor sells 5x more than you having a product that doesn't make sense or isn't the best you can get out there you start thinking how you can get sales up to that level. If you have to create a product with a few concessions then so be it.
In this case YOU care about a removable battery and SD. I've NEVER replaced my battery in 6 years. And I use an SD because I've a 16GB phone. The only reason why I would need a removable battery is after my phone freezes up yet again trying out some custom rom
The same goes for the GT driver, he might just have bought the car for its looks or status.

Yes, I am agreeing with you about buying for looks and what manufacturers cater to. But I am posting this in a review thread on a site filled with people who use their phones as they were made to be used. I think they will see what Samsung is obviously doing and be turned off by that. Maybe not, though. Marketing and public opinion is very powerful and even the sharpest sometimes fall into those traps.
What's even better about their tactics is that they offer a larger internal memory at the utmost premium price, like Apple does. This is just a terrific business practice, as you want to make a product that is marketable and easily replaced, as well as forcing people into higher price bracket. I do not blame Samsung for trying to turn a profit, I just am disappointed with their product which is not aimed at the vertical I am in.

Considering they made this drastic change due to a massive drop in sales..I'd say your opinion is wrong =)
And I know we all hate apple..but don't be silly. Of course their ideas work. You don't become the most profitable company in the world because you're making bad choices lol

Apple phones are great, the OS feels like it's from the seventies but the the smoothness is something I wish Samsung could copy more. My iPhone is mostly taking up space in a box though

I'll make this short, I got the OPO back in late Summer 2014, after replacing my damaged HTC One M8 ( which I LOVED, and converted to GPE ) The Kit Kat ROM's were awesome on the OPO, giving me like crazy 7h Screen On time, I liked the shape and design of the phone, it sort of seemed like a Nexus 5-1/2, the Nexus phone Google would have made after the Nexus 5, if they didn't go Motorola. The OPO has a sort of Galaxy Nexus + Nexus 5 combo design going on, in a good way.
Yeah I hate OPO's invite system, and all the BS within the company, and to be honest the OnePlus Two does ZERO for me, I have no interest in that phone whatsoever. Seems like a side grade at best to the OPO. Plus not a fan of the SD810, so put me down as a OnePlus Two hater
Since I bought the OPO I have had the iPhone 6 Plus ( Jailbreaked, just to try out a big iPhone and the JB scene, but iOS blows IMO, ran back to Android less than a month later ) Then I bought the Nexus 6 which I liked a lot, especially stock Android and AOSP ROM's, but the Nexus 6 was really crossing that border for me size wise, just too wide. And now I currently have the Note 5, running a good custom ROM. The Note 5 surprised me, as I typically don't like Touchwiz, but with a good ROM, it really is fast and smooth, and of course the screen and camera are #1.
My point here is, I still kept my OnePlus One as a back up phone, but for a long while was left in a drawer for months, so I dusted it off, and installed Sultan's CM13 ROM, and holy ****, I forgot how much I liked this phone, and the stockish vanilla Android type OS of CM13 vs. Touchwiz is so nice. I am SIM swapping between my OPO and Note 5 every few days, I really like the OPO still, even compared to my Note 5. Yes of course the Note 5 is a better phone no doubt. But here's something special about this OPO, like the old EVO 4G thanks to XDA that lived on a very long time, this OPO is one of those few special phones, with the help of the great development community will live a long life. Plus the hardware is still pretty fast in the OPO, it's not like a slow turtle or something.
I hated the OnePlus Two, but the One X really surprised, looks like a great phone. I am very optimistic on the OnePlus Three now, if they can design it sort of after the One X, similar build quality and design, but with the SD820 + 4GB RAM, with a 5.5" screen, and keep the price around the $400 range or so, it could be another killer phone.

Since 2007 I have owned 4 phones (N95, HTC Desire, Galaxy Nexus, OnePlus One), you have managed that in the time i've had my OnePlus One lol.
Not enough changes even every two years to really justify a new phone these days, I still consider the OnePlus to be one of the best phones out today. Sure some phones are a bit better, however for me the battery life is amazing, the phone is really fast, has a nice camera and plenty of storage. I personally don't need anything else!
I'd personally be happy using the OnePlus as my main phone for another couple of years yet!

I used to say the same thing until i moved to a Nexus 6 some time ago. Only then i could see what an average phone the OPO is.
I still have my OPO but i see no point in using it.

The screen is worst, i have actually better battery on the Nexus, better feel on the hand, larger screen, better official support, better community, better roms, better hardware, fast charging, wireless charging, dude the list goes on.
The opo is an average phone in comparison with the Nexus.
That's why mine is on the drawer, getting dust. If it was a better phone i would be using it and not the Nexus.

Then you suddenly remember, (for me in Australia anyway) my OPO was $413 shipped, a Nexus 6 (not 6P) now is $849, and when they were the "latest Nexus" they were $949. And in the US the OPO is $299 and the N6 is $699... So looking at that, the Nexus 6 has a bigger screen (higher resolution, but bigger, so doesn't really matter anyway..), fast charging (eh can charge my OPO from 0-90% in just under 60 minutes anyway so..), clearly didn't have the bamboo back in regards to better feeling in the hand, better community is completely subjective to the user, as is better ROM's, better hardware is again subjective. The OPO has a better camera (5mp front vs 2mp) and can record in up to 1440p on the front camera, and 4K DCI on the back, not just 4K UHD. Battery life is again, subjective, but with a slightly bigger battery but a larger screen I expect the difference to be negligible at best. The OPO and N6 have the same amount of RAM. The processor, is better, but more importantly the GPU, but then with the 1440p screen the GPU needs to be considerably better.
I'd say average is an overstatement.

In the US the Nexus 6 is going for between $300 - $350 for the 64GB at the moment, the prices have really gone down cause of the 6P. Just a correction with the pricing. In my country it goes for $500 for 32GB Nexus 6 cause they're really rare

Nowdays, didn't said when the opo got released. Ofc the Nexus 6 was a very expensive device, it is also a more premium device.
Nowdays the opo is average and the Nexus is way, and i put WAY better and fairly the same price. I saw no point in paying full price when the Nexus 6 got out but nowdays you can have a top notch phone for less than 300 bucks.
And all the rest is just you making peanuts based on nothing, the Nexus as far as my experience goes is way better. You are trying to justify based on nothing.
As i have both i can opinate. Battery life is better on the Nexus, you can read reviews and shiz but they cant properly compare devices. I was getting under 5 hours of sot with my opo and i get over 5 hours now with just a kernel flashed. So, no, its not just negligible because you saw the battery numbers.
I dont like wood backs, and i do not need that for a phone to feel better. I have that stock on the Nexus 6. The metallic ring does wonders, no wood back can do that.
Also the camera, i'm sorry but everyone who says the opo camera is better is out if his mind. They both have average cameras but the Nexus is better, i can take better low light photos and HDR+ makes all the diference when capturing this, also ois helps, things that, wait, do not compute hardware side on the opo. The front facing camera performs equally better for the tasks i use it for, unlocking and some hangouts. Hell i can say the Nexus front camera doesnt do so much miss and run unlocking, but can be software side changes also. And im not even going to talk about the horrible halo effect due to the flash over exposing on the opo camera, i tried every single camera app/rom to avoid this but every one failed, the one that the halo was less noticeable was sultans ROM due to the changes be made to the hal. But even then i could notice some over exposure when using flash on dark places.
Moving on..
The screen isnt just bigger its BETTER. Better and noticeable contrast ratio, collors, deep darks, higher res that is noticeable, and yes, bigger.
The gpu isnt marginaly better, its awsomely better on the Nexus. The same games i used to get sutters on the opo doesnt sutter on the Nexus, its not just bechmarks, even pushing a way lot more pixels.
Also the sound, i forgot to mention. No point arguing here, the Nexus isnt boomsound but its a world better than the opo. Front fireing speaks are way better than bottom ones. You dont even know what you are loosing until you try it.
So, yes, nowdays the opo is average. Im sorry if you have to justify you have a top notch phone because you havnt. There are way better alternatives nowdays.
PS: Fast charging does make diference, i dont know you try to dismiss that as a very positive point. And i can also wireless charge it, but i guess thats just comodities that i like to have.

"top notch" is definitely an arguable claim, the camera was, less than stellar on the Nexus 6 and the hardware has aged with 64-bit now in play, alongside the new Snapdragon 808 and 810.

? I do have the Nexus 6 and OPO? So, I can and will justify what I said on the fact that I have both devices.
As I have both I can opinionate, on KitKat I got 6-7h SOT consistently on LTE, and 8-9h SOT Wi-Fi without a problem, Lollipop in it's early days decreased that number to 3.5-4.5h LTE, 4-5 Wi-Fi however on my current ROM (Sultan's CM12.1 stable) I consistently get 5-6h SOT easy every day on 3G (at home so I don't have Wi-Fi and can't test). So yeah, battery life is much better compared to my 6, which gets maybe 3.5-4.5h SOT on stock rooted with FK on LTE, and max 5.5H SOT with Wi-Fi low brightness etc.

Again, I think that feeling completely comes down to personal preference. To be honest I don't particularly like metal phones, I own a slew of devices (Z3 Compact, Z5 (gave to Dad), Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Note 2, Moto X 2013, Moto X 2014, Nexus 6, OPO, Nexus 5, HTC One M8 (sold to brother), HTC One M9(gave to Mum)) and I hands down prefer a plastic phone to metal, I don't know why but I just don't like the feel of metal, the S6 is okay, but phones like the M8 and M9 I can't handle, and the N6 was borderline for me.
But I do understand that I am in the minority so whatever.

The OPO on Sultan's ROM has an incredible camera, using the Snapdragon Camera app or Camera FV-5 (fixes the "horrible halo" in manual mode, however I really don't use the flash anyway..) I can consistently take a photo that I am happy with, I mean it's no S6, but it by no means takes bad photos either. Why the Nexus 6 does have a good camera, the Moto G this year is using the same sensor, basically sums it up, within 12 months the camera had moved from a $700 phone to a $200 phone.

The screen on the 6 is nicer than the OPO, however I find the cool colours of the OPO actually nicer than the panel on the 6. I also have a slightly modified screen profile on my phone so that might make all the difference. Deep blacks are due to the AMOLED, and owning both AMOLED and IPS phones I do prefer IPS, however again, that is totally a personal preference thing and I understand you may think differently.

The GPU is better yes, but I don't use my phone for games, at all, never have and probably never will. So if you want to wear the better GPU crown, you totally can.

This is true as well, front facing speakers are great, but then again, I don't really use the speakers on my device, I either use my earphones, my computer which has much superior sound anyway, or Bluetooth Audio in my car, there is never really a time when I want to use the speaker on my phone. But I will say I've never had a "problem" with the sound on the OPO.

I don't need to justify that I have a top notch phone, I very well know that I have a phone that was released almost 2 years ago, and I also know that I have the means to buy any phone of my choice right now, however, the OPO is still working for me so I'd rather buy something that I am actually going to use. I'll buy the OnePlus 3 on launch, and if that treats me well then great, and if it doesn't I'll probably buy next years Nexus devices. But in the same breath, the Nexus 6 is nothing amazing, it is well over a year old now, lacks some "crucial" things for a current top-notch smartphone, being a fingerprint scanner, 64-bit to name a few.

PS: I know fast charging makes a difference, but to me, I charge my phone at night, and take it off at 7am, and put it back on at 12pm, and don't look at the battery percentage otherwise. I've used wireless charging once and thought eh and never used it again, but again, something some people want to use so whatever.

In the US the Nexus 6 is going for between $300 - $350 for the 64GB at the moment, the prices have really gone down cause of the 6P. Just a correction with the pricing. In my country it goes for $500 for 32GB Nexus 6 cause they're really rare

Lucky I don't live in the US. Here it is still going for $849. I also can't get the Nexus 6 from the current deals as they refuse to ship to Australia. However, looking on Swappa I can get a OnePlus One, $150-180, saw one for $180 brand new in box. I do get that for the price the Nexus 6 is a killer deal, however it's not to say that you should throw whatever you have out the window, and there are just as good a deals around for other products, like the OnePlus One.

Stock, just a kernel i get over 5 hours sot, with the same usage on the opo not even close to that. So, in my opinion way, WAY better. Adaptative brightness on the Nexus with adaptative display always on. And i can't see how your results may vary but anyway, im a believer.
Premium materiais =/= your opinion. If you think having a metal ring arround the phone doesn't make it premium keeping it light than every manufacturer must have gone to the idiot side for using those.
No, the camera fv5 does not fix that. Paid version that i bought when they introduced RAW support for the opo. Im sorry but you are wrong (again), its a good app but the over exposure problem goes way deeper for a camera app to solve, it goes into a ****ty camera Hal and blobs. The sensor is good but the work done with it sucks ass. The photos low light on the Nexus are way better, normal light condition are equally better, i could post some examples but i dont have the time or need to do that. The camera api is also much better which makes you get better photos apps to take photos. Arguably i use the google camera for the HDR+ which no other camera app has and it totally makes the difference. You have no halo, less grainy photos.
The screen on the Nexus is better. For all those reasons and more make them a way better panel than the one on the One. Amoled pannels when used properly can help you produce better images and save power. Ips panels are good for true collor reproduction when properly calibrated, the one on the One is not. Problematic yellow tints and washed out collors, color shifting, grey mushy blacks, you name it. And no, i do not loose time messing with the settings to try and calibrate it when it was my daily driver. I only used the pre defined amoled settings on CM. The colors would pop out a bit more.
If you never had problems with the speakers on the opo you cearly do not use your phone. When im showing something to friends, and this happens allot, and we need sound for example, not giving out a pair if bt headsets to all of them. If im watching a tv show i rather have sound come from the phone, stereo sound.
I used to cover them all the time with the opo because if their bad placement. Not that it isnt better than the ones located on the back, but clearly problematic and worse.
The fast charging is needed for those who use their phones all the time. Sometimes i get home from work, i get my phone on the charger to boost its battery before going out for a coffee. Ofc if i do not use my phone, if i stay home i do not need fast charging because im close to a charger. But then again thats your problemas for not using the phone an not needing a well needed feature like fast charging. Also i installed a wireless charging pad on my car so no cables, couldnt have that before.
The rest is just peanuts, even your phone collection that you may or may not have had is peanuts to me. Im not bragging about the phones i had because when i move i move to a better one, i do not move to a crappier one.
What i have to say about that is, im happy with my Nexus 6 and its a well better device than the opo. It was a well needed upgrade on all meanings. Google device everyday over the opo at the moment. Oneplus is a crappy company with no support, they made a successull phone due to Cyanogen. Most devs are running away from this phone which will end up with a bad version of android, a version full of problems. So im not even interested in their Oneplus X A B or 3. I did not look at the Oneplus 2 because of that same reason, its a ****ty device with the lack of a proper os.
The fingerprint reader and the 64bit are arguably good features if you need them. The 64 bit is a double sided blade, instructions on the VM can be bigger but you need more RAM to take advantage of that, maybe in some years you can see a practical bebefit for that. But even then you wont run high memory desktop apps on your phone. The fingerprint reader i would like to havê as a gimmick, does nothing on my country (no Android pay for example) and like i said i relly on having a pebble and face unlocking. Doesnt make a phone to be less of a top notch, pick your poison over the thousands of chinese phones that have those and suck ass (elephones and other crap).
Ofc you can have a different opinion but hardware/software comparison you cant deny its better. Or maybe you can trying to smooth things up with facts that are not facts with surreal opinions like saying: "oh yea i had this, that and that, and i know its supperior but im the minority thinking like this, oh well" (the i dont use the flash made me lol so hard).

Strangely enough you are the fanboy. He just stated his opinions without necessarily attacking you and you feel the need to belittle him to make your argument sound better. I don't doubt the Nexus 6 is a great phone but claiming the OPO is average makes me believe you are really poor when it comes to judgement and based on this long ass post you made you proved this to be a fact.
Fingerprint reader isn't just for Android Pay its just another convenient way to unlock that is much more secure than current implementations. I agree Oneplus is a crappy company and the only reason I bought this phone is Cyanogenmod. Not interested in any their new units OP2 and OPX cause of closed source OS. Being a heavy user doesn't make you better and doesn't make your usage or battery stats or anything better. You don't have to insult or demean someone when they were just having a discussion with you.

Yep, he's a fanboy, saw that from post #1. I've worked with both phones, and even though the N6 is really good, the OPO is still an amazing device for it's age, calling it average is just plain dumb.

I don't even care to argue about the cameras in word form, but I'll just show you some of the photos that I have taken in the last few weeks on my OPO; these images have been compressed twice, just as a side note (through Facebook Messenger because I don't have a microUSB cord on me at this moment, and then through imager.) I'd like to see if anyone is just looking at this, their thoughts on these photos, but I mean that's not required I quite like them and that's all that really matters.

I bought new OPO even when I'm owning s6, and I had one OPO already I just love this device!! I gave my old OPO to dad! even he loves it .. ( first touchscreen phone he has ever used! )

I can do nothing more than agree! I bought the phone one and a half years ago and it still feels very nice. I don't even think about getting a new phone for now.
The OPO will also have a long support life, thanks to XDA

Have to agree with this thread. Using the OPO for about a year now. I've been bitten by the upgrade bug, but don't really have a phone which has seriously drawn me to it within a decent price range. Maybe the 6P, but it's so expensive and I don't really gain that much in terms of tangible benefit.

At least according to this review's measurements, the OPO's screen is better in color accuracy than the Nexus 6

And when I compare it with the same picture on my PC's IPS screen, it is pretty much comparable(the LG IPS236v produces slightly punchier reds than the OPO's screen).

Today, I will update my phone to CM13 by Sultan so I have the latest software! As a developer it's awesome to be able to get the state of the art software without restrictions.

I've always been interested in the Xperia phones, mostly for the camera, but apparently even that isn't groudbreaking - this makes ZERO sense considering the number of top cameras in the world being from Sony, and the majority of smartphone OEMs using Sony sensors, but somehow putting out superior results compared to Sony themselves.
Seriously, why should anyone spend $700 on this thing?
1. 5.2" is the biggest size offered - Sony clearly ignores what customers want. They give the options of small, and SMALLER with the compacts.
2. The camera app is a joke for being a "cameraphone first," and apparetly so are the photos.
3. They use a 1/2.3" sensor which is great, but no OIS? Seriously? Even HTC managed to put two camera modules with OIS in the HTC 10, and Sony can't even pull it off with the main sensor? EIS is garbage compared to OIS for photos at night, so that is no defense.
4. 3GB of RAM? Seriously? More may not be NECESSARY, but when every other flagship has it, you're going to skimp when charging $700?
5. Market-dependent features? The U.S. doesn't even get a fingerprint scanner? No wonder carriers stopped selling these phones!
What the hell does this phone have to offer for $700? Practically nothing. No mentionable audio performance (actually from sound tests, the stereo speakers are embarassingly quiet). The camera is not blowing out the competiition, lacks features (PARTICULARLY full manual control), and OIS. The software seems decent, but nothing worth mentioning. The display is nothing special. Audio recording is apparently nothing special.
It has water resistance and a cool design. Wow, sure worth the $700. I really want to order this phone and get it next week, but the LG V20 seems to destroy it in every regard. I love taking pictures on a smartphone and pushing their limits (since that is the camera you have with you all the time), but for $700, this thing is a joke! There is literally nothing that sets it apart from any other phone on the market! If I am missing something, please let me know - otherwise, Sony, your mobile division needs fired because they are IDIOTS.

I'm buying this phone. I always buy the new Sony phone when released. I simply enjoy Sony phones, no other justification necessary.

And 5.2" for a flagship is not very bad considering HTC 10 also has a 5.2" but still I would like XZ have a 5.5 " screen

It's not that this phone has problems. I'm sure it works just fine. The Note7 lags like a ***** - that is a problem. Sony phones just seem to LACK stuff that makes them unique or more useful. There is nothing that separates this phone from the pack...
And 5.2" isn't TERRIBLE, but it's still pretty small. What will make it terrible is having on-screen buttons at 5.2". At least the HTC 10 was 5.2" with capacitive keys. You are going to have even less screen real-estate with the on-screen buttons.

I wouldn't know. I don't use any other flagships. I bought the Xperia X1 years ago and never left. I would imagine they are somewhat similar. Every OEM has strengths and weaknesses and none are perfect. Its a personal preference thing.

I am also buying the XZ. Will import one from Clove UK for $620 with free MDR-XB950BT SONY WIRELESS HEADPHONES. The headphones sell for $ 150 on Amazon.
I have been using the GS7 since it came out and in my opinion it is a piece of crap. The Z3V I had with Verizon was a better phone than the S7. Better battery life and overall performance. The camera on the S7 is better than the camera was on the Z3V but the difference isn't that large.
I have been using Xperia phones since the X10 came out and used many of the Sony Ericsson phones before the X10.
Also based on GSM Arean's review the XZ is the best phone Sony ever made.

Nowadays the phone market became saturate and most of the phone become more or less the same,most of the "special" feature coming from vendor is just gimmick like the curve screen. Samsung phone have gorgeous screen but the curve distort the image on it and it also cause glare which is very annoying.

What I started to dislike about Sony phones is the OS.
It turned out to be too simplistic, it is almost pure Google's Android hence it is lacking the special and unique feeling Sony was giving us in the past.
They should have their unique style / design that will distinguish them from the others.
For me it is too stock now, I do not like this.

What the hell does this phone have to offer for $700? Practically nothing. No mentionable audio performance (actually from sound tests, the stereo speakers are embarassingly quiet). The camera is not blowing out the competiition, lacks features (PARTICULARLY full manual control), and OIS. The software seems decent, but nothing worth mentioning. The display is nothing special. Audio recording is apparently nothing special.
It has water resistance and a cool design. Wow, sure worth the $700. I really want to order this phone and get it next week, but the LG V20 seems to destroy it in every regard. I love taking pictures on a smartphone and pushing their limits (since that is the camera you have with you all the time), but for $700, this thing is a joke! There is literally nothing that sets it apart from any other phone on the market! If I am missing something, please let me know - otherwise, Sony, your mobile division needs fired because they are IDIOTS.

1. not everyone likes big phones, i switched from note 2 note 3 to z5 and happy with the size, i think sony isnt big like Samsung which offers massive number of choices, and their target is asian market which ppl there have smaller hands maybe?

Well. You can always buy a GalaxyNote 7 which will eventually explode on you. For 800 dollars. Duh!
Anyway:
1. 5.2 is OPTIMAL. Most of the people don't need huge bricks in their pockets. But you need mode? Buy Z5 Premium.
2. The statement about the photo quality without any proof, and with plenty of proof in the net stating otherwise, is so childish it doesn't even qualify to this forum.
The app is great, just use the brain.
3. OIS on a smartphone is a toy. I mean who the f... cares about an OIS, if Digital Stabailization is working on XZ 3 times better than any OIS on any smartphone (proven in tons of videos). Again, instead of reading comparative charts use your brain and think.

5. They should work it out.
And for the Sony, it also has the best design and UI. Samsung looks like crap inside and is unstable.

You're clearly a Sony shill. I've owned a PLETHORA of phones, so I am loyal to no brand. I go for what is the best option on the market. I am here because I have had an interest in Sony since the Z5 Premium was announced, but with US carriers dropping them (obviously for good reason), I didn't jump on the opportunity to try one out due to poor resale value.

It actually LACKS detail compared to the iPhone 7 and Note7 in most situations which is SAD. Sony rocks the camera world but clearly sucks with their phones.

The phone doesn't seem so expensive over in the UK, cheaper than the Pixel at similar specs and includes a microsd slot.
For the OPs question, I think Sony phones are great compared to other flagships. Reliable and long lasting devices, awesome battery life, not much preloaded bloatware and no slow home screen system. At least from my experience with many many devices (for dev), the Sony is always my go to phone for constant usage, as things tend to just work.

I am also getting this phone. Need a replacement for my OnePlus One. I am buying it from UK which comes out way cheaper than buying here at USA. I also will be getting the free headset which cost about 150 USD. Getting phone for 641 with fastest shipping from UK to USA. The price comes out about 500 dollars for the phone.
If you are worry about bank asking for a fee for currency conversion, i suggest to use amazon.co.uk. They do the conversion on their side and will charge your card using your local currency.

I have been using the GS7 since it came out and in my opinion it is a piece of crap. The Z3V I had with Verizon was a better phone than the S7. Better battery life and overall performance. The camera on the S7 is better than the camera was on the Z3V but the difference isn't that large.
I have been using Xperia phones since the X10 came out and used many of the Sony Ericsson phones before the X10.
Also based on GSM Arean's review the XZ is the best phone Sony ever made.

So are you not with Verizon anymore? I have the S7 Edge as my upgrade from the Z3v, but hell the power saving mode and performance is better on the Z3v. I've never complained about any sort of lags from the Z3v, but I occasionally get it on the S7 Edge.
Despite the TC's anti-Sony statements that any other people babble on about 3gb is not enough, the XZ still intrigues me. The fingerprint sensor is actually confirmed working IF you flash another region's firmware.

Agreed, anything around 4.8~5.2 inch is the sweet spot for normal sized phone, OIS is a great addition, but it's not a dealbreaker without it if Sony come up with something comparable to that, more ram doesn't hurt, but it hurts when it's not being used.

Guess I'm one of those people not in there right mind as I just ordered it a few hours ago

I had the Xperia Z and then the Z3 and both were great. The Z3 was fantastic. I might even still be using it if T Mobile hadn't dropped support on it.

Not sure when will it arrive, upgrading from Xperia Z, good ol' phone served me well, 3 and a half years.
