I have an ATT Galaxy S5 (SM-G900A)
After upgrading to latest firmware release I have been having a ton of issues (apps crashing, running slowly, not starting at all, etc).
I have tried to factory reset my phone a few times to no avail.
I thought if I re-installed the stock firmware it might resolve the problem, but Odin v3.09 gives me a "Fail (AUTH)" error and I get an SW REV CHECK FAIL on my phone, I also can't find any custom roms that will work with my phone.
Again I have the SM-G900A
android 4.4.2
Bseband: G900AUC2ANG3
any help is appreciated

I tried flashing the ANCE and that is what gives me the "Fail (AUTH)" and "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot] fused 2 > binary 1"

You got that error because the firmware being flashed (1ANCE) is older then the firmware on your phone (2ANG3).
Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Firmware Browser' to search for a newer firmware.
Just did that, the 1ance is all it finds
Is there anyway to force a downgrade?

Sorry I don't know how to downgrade.
You may need to find another firmware that is compatible with your device and newer than your current firmware.
You can ask in the AT&T S5 Forum for better response.

Hi there,
I have installed Cyanogenmod on my S4, but it isn't what i needed on my phone. So I want to revert back to the stock firmware. I planned on doing this via Odin, yet i don't manage to do so. I open Odin, load the PDA, wait for it to load, click on start and get a fail message: Fail (auth). On the S4 i see the text 'sw rev check fail fused 3 binary 1'. Next my phone won't boot anymore untill I flash CWM. I have searched the internet for a solution but I cannot find my problem anywhere. I'm in desperate search for a solution.
This evening, due to some slightly buggy behavior that I attribute to removing too many things during a recent "debloat session", I attempted to restore my rooted N3 to stock using the most current firmware and Odin. Something went very wrong and the flash failed. My N3 now advises that "Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again". So I tried Kies Emergency Device Recovery, but Kies will not connect to my phone in any screen I am able to access. The phone will only boot to the Odin Mode screen. I can't get to the recovery, either.
I've tried Kies in both Windows 7 and Mac OS Mavericks, tried different cables and USB ports, updated Kies as well as drivers, but I'm not making any headway.
I've tried using Kies option to upgrade the firmware, but my N3 doesn't have the S/N printed anywhere on the phone. I'm away from home, but I have a call in to a friend to get the S/N off the box... But I'm not holding my breath that this path will succeed.
I'd bite the bullet and go to Sprint, but as I'm sure you are aware, a rooted Note 3 clearly shows 0x1 under Knox Warranty Void on the Odin Mode screen (which again, is the only screen I can access).
I'm well and truly stuck. Are there any options I'm missing? Something I've overlooked?

These seem to be only 9005 and 900 ROMS, ie, not for the N900P (Sprint).

My N9005 (and to be honest every single original Samsung phone that I have seen in last year, and the number is pretty big) have BOTH the IMEI and the SN written on a sticker under the battery.

I know where it's *supposed to be*, but the only numbers on said sticker are; DEC, HEX, Model and FCC ID (which I tried, just in case). There is NOTHING else on that sticker.

Last night I tried flashing the most current firmware and when that failed, I tried an older copy I have that has worked before. Neither succeeded and both result in the Odin screen on the phone saying: "sw rev check fail fused 2 binary 1" (which I've been googling but found no working answers yet).
The message Odin gives is "FAIL! (Auth)". I've read this morning about how the most current firmware (MI3) removes root and plugs some security holes. Some think it won't be rootable...
Is this my problem?

this happened with me too "Firmware Upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
If you can still go to ODIN/Download mode everything is fine.
Just download the latest firmware for your phone, old firmware won't do as you can not downgrade bootloader. Then flash it in ODIN.

I can get into Odin mode, so that's great news... Unfortunately I tried to flash the most current firmware and got the same result. The failure message in Odin is "Fail (Auth)". at the same time the device says something in red text about a "SW REV" issue.
I'm downloading the most current FW again from Samsung. (WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG?!) I'll post back when I try again.
I'm back up and running! I had downloaded a firmware ending in mi3, the MOST current is mj4, which flashed over to my N3 without issue.
Thanks all for the assist.

Sprint is CDMA right? CDMA phone got no IMEI.
It got the same purpose of IMEI called MDN or something. But it got NO IMEI.
Try latest stock ROM, coz if you're on newer bootloader, it wont allow you to flash downgrade....
I'm simply trying to return to stock. I bootloop if I let it boot normally. I'm not sure what to do! I've tried following these steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483380 to no avail.
EDIT: Now, when I try to boot normally I get "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please use Software Repair Assistant & try again."
Could someone help me out?

I hear that works to get it booted.
almost a noob question
I'm having the same problem but nothing is fixing it. i tried rooting my phone last night but forgot i took the update verizon pushed out a couple weeks ago. I was attempting the de la vega method with odin 3 v3.09. it failed and my phone has "sw rec check fail: the fused 2 > binary 1" error message followed by "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please use software repair assistant & try again". I have tried kies 3 to do emergency firmware recovery, but when it opens, error message says connected device not supported. i've also downloaded stock image and tried flashing it from odin. I found unbrick directions that said to use odin 3 v1.85, but that didn't work either. what can i do to unbrick my phone????
this is the first time i've (attempted to) root a samsung phone. i've rooted my dinc, dinc2, razr, nexus 7 and nexus 10. but i feel like a total noob with this phone
??

You are trying to load old firmware on a phone that has already been updated at some point in its life. You can not go backwards in firmware except 5.0 can be back reved to 4.4.4

hello, i just bought a used note 4 (SM-N910F) today.
And when i went into the download mode to install latest stock firmware using Odin, i found that the product name is wrongly listed as SM-N910T3.
Eventhough the phone is shown as N910F on the box and in the settings menu too.
Anyways, i still went ahead and tried to put the latest firmware of n910f into it using odin and i got the error message - emmc write fail aboot.
I then came out of it and tried to factory reset it from the settings menu which then took me to the recovery menu for some reason instead and showed me various options including wipe factory data reset.
And below that i was getting this error message in red that "dm-verity verification failed"
I still went ahead and performed the wipe, during which i got the error message "e failed to mount/preload (no such file or directory".
After that i rebooted the phone and thankfully after waiting for 15+mins it booted up and seemed to have reset the phone.
But now I'm pretty sure the earlier owner messed up n installed the wrong firmware for it besides rooting it (as shown by the knox trip count).
So my question is, how do i install the correct firmware for it?
thanks for any help.. will be greatly appreciated.

Your original model is SM-N910T3 thats Tmobile note 4 usa model not the N910F European model.
Your original.model is shown correct in download mode that's your motherboard model.
Probably its refurbished device with Modified software and box and sticker behind the battery just for looks like N910F international model because N910F has more value in market.
I personally had same experience before as you i bought N910F online and i found it was N910P sprint usa model in download mode.
Dont try to flash any N910F firmware your device may end up hard brick and completly useless
you can flash N910T3 firmware it will flash without errors.

ok thanks alot, i'll try to download a N910T3 firmware and retry and update here again.
I have an s7 edge that my buddy gave me, saying it stopped working after he tried to downgrade the OS or something, now the phone only boots to Factory Binary. On the back of the phone, it says it is a G935v, however, in the factory binary, it lists the model as G935a. So which firmware do I use to fix it? And if you could, how would I go about getting the phone to boot normally instead of in factory binary?
When booting into factory binary, the PDA is FA60_G945AUCU5ARA2, the model is SAMSUNG-SM-G935A [SS], and the Phone is G935VVRU4BQH4. To my knowledge these are listing as 2 different models. Also I tried to flash the official firmware from Sammobile, and I got errors like [aboot] Fused 5 > Binary 4, etc, every time.
I would really like to get this phone working. Thanks in advance!
Bump
If I remember correctly you can flash AT&T firmware on a Verizon. Not so sure about vice-versa. As for the errors in Download Mode, make sure you're not downgrading (e.g from 7.0 to 6.0)
And I think your phone was sold by Verizon and its firmware was changed to AT&T
Also, I found this
That is not good news.
Each time VZ updates their software for these phones, they update a value in a fuse.
That started as 1 with MDK, went to 2 with ME7, 3 with MI1, and 4 with MJ7. At least that's what I think the revisions did to the qfuse.
So it's seeing that you're trying to flash a binary with revision 3 (BINARY:3) but it remembers a flash with revision 5.
Now, there's nothing out there that I know of for the i545 that's rev 5 - the next update after MJ7 will be rev 5. So, your phone is probably not going to be recoverable until VZ and Samsung release another software update for the I545. Something corrupted the fuse storing the update level.
You can verify this by flashing MJ7 - it'll probably say FUSED:5, BINARY: 4.
Sorry for the bad news.

That was for a SGS4, so I guess the same applies today.
Im assuming the A following the 935 stands for AT&T, and the V would stand for Verizon. So according to what you quoted, I'm trying to "downgrade", and the OS wont allow it? Or am I misunderstanding?
Also for what it's worth, in recovery mode it says 6.0.1 is the current firmware, but again it is listing itself as 935A, and I can't get it to boot properly, it only goes to a "factory binary".
Yes. That's about it. Try flashing a Nougat or Oreo firmware.
Or
Try flashing a combination file and then an ordinary firmware
