[Q] How to enable the hidden language? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't want to use unofficial roms, I just need more languages. Do anyone know how to do that? The methods and apps on google don't work on KIT KAT.
The morelocal2 and language enabler don't work.
And I can't find default.xml to edit.
My device is already rooted.

What is you CSC?
If your phone is using a multi-CSC firmware, you can switch to another CSC to obtain more languages.
Or you can flash another multi-CSC stock firmware to get the language you need (no need custom rom)
Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to get your CSC.
You can also use this app to switch the CSC.

Thank U
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately T-mobile firmware is a single-csc that I can't change it. That's fine, I would get use to the English OS. Tired of working on roms...
Thank you again.

I don't think so.

Some developers leave that stuff out because the file space is a little tight. What rom is this, as a warning to others needing that language?
Go to the market and see if the more locale app will give you your language.
I have the same issue. I tried both roto-jmi and r1 modaco custom and i lost my original input methods. More locale seems to only allow me to change the os language but it does not allow me to change the input language.
It would be extremely helpful if someone could chime in and help identify the language input packages.

I flashed JMG, and JMI, but went back to JME v.4 for the languages. With previous phones I have removed the swype language locale from the old rom and moved it into the new rom. I searched xda for a while until I found out how.
You can get a keyboard app from the market, maybe you can get your preferred language.
Thx for the info. If you happend across that thread would you mind sending the link my way. Otherwise it looks like I need to spend more time digging.
Cheers

Just flash without CSC (cache.rfs) -> no branding at all. AFAIK the pre-configured APNs are in there also, so you'll have to configure those manually, even if you didn't before.

You just tick one package option.
New .ops file you can find at the bottom of samfirmwares page.

I already have jh7 installed. will it still work if i reflash it without csc? apns are for acces point names? if they are i don't need them since they are from south africa operators and i use mainly wifi. i think that with the apps the operator installed in the firmware the memory is drasticly reduced so i can install only 4-5 apps then i get the low memory message.
p.s. does anyone know why the low battery sound isn't present?? i just get the on screen message in wich it tells me i have under 15% left but no message tone whatsoever. just shuts down and never tells me

[GUIDE] How to "add" 5 more languages to XX based stock roms

So,
It seems like Samsung has introduced a new way for supporting languages on the Galaxy S3.
If you go inside the language settings you will see a nice bunch of languages.
But! Those are not all the available languages on the phone!
There are 5(!) more languages you can "unlock" in 2 ways.
The languages are:
Arabic (ar)
Farsi (fa)
Hebrew (iw)
Japanese (ja)
Thai (th)
Vietnamese (vi)
Chinese (zh)
The easy way to enable them is to download the application "morelocale2" and add to choose or add the language code you want.
With this method you will not see these languages in your language settings.
To enable these languages in the language setting of your phone, you will need to root it.
you can use Chainfires method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660918
The next step is to use root explorer or any other familiar application and go into /system/csc.
There is a file there named languages.xml.
If you open the file you will see a list of languages to display.
Just add your desired language code from the list above (in 2 places in the file) + country code, reboot, and then you will see that language in your language setting!
good luck!
Another way, you can flash XXLEF to enable some hidden languages. Change modem will change your languages support
It's not the modem, it's the CSC file

Ah ok! I forgot that I flashed ZS firmware
Well..i used the "morelocale2" method and i found them added in the "language settings" rebooted and they are still there, my rom is XXALE9
Back in the days of i9000 and Froyo, my country was only having Froyo 2.2 while many other countries were already having 2.2.1. What I did was decompiling all the 2.2 system apps, and implanting the languages into the 2.2.1, and thereby creating a genuine feeling of having a 2.2.1 rom with my area locale. Though not 100% fit, but at least it was better than using the Morelocale app.
Refer to this link for the details of how to do it.
Though we are talking about different phones and different Android system since then, but I believe the methodology is the same.
But there is no need to do that here, as the xml files are already inside the rom, just not enabled.
I gave the instruction on how to enable them

Yes, but how did you edit the Read Only language.xml file? That is the problem. I can edit it, but I can't save it.

You have to go to settings in ES Explorer and scroll down to root settings and also check "Mount File System". I was able to save the file after adding the codes for Chinese, but after I rebooted the phone, there still was no option for Chinese.

you can use this app Wanam just made:

thanks but i don't want to use an app for this.
i've already edited the language file so i do have my language as a display language.
i still don't have it as an input language in Samsung's default keyboard. there is a way to enable it?
I tried to added the languages to the CSC file and also tried the applications .. but nothing worked for me..
I have Sprint Samsung S3 FreeGS3 Rom (Stock rooted)
Of course my version of the GS3 phone is SPH-L170 but I don't see why that would be a problem?
Is there anyway to enable Arabic in the languages tap and the keyboard?
I use hackers keyboard and that works fine with Arabic but I want the stock one to have it as well.
Thank.
Still waiting for someone to help..
Use the morelocale2 app but it only changed the language in a couple of apps that's about it.

Languages are missing in S5

Hi,
For some resaon Languages are missing in S5 in the some SM-G900F/H in europ (system languages)
and SM-G900A /G900T /G900W8/ G900M /G900T1 etc.. the USA Deviecs...
Especially from the USA I understand that Samsung removed the Non-US languages.
Like Arabic and hebrew etc... there is anyway to Enable them without rooting and morelocal2 ?
Many of my Friends try with root and morelocal2 and it dosn't work at all (USA Deviecs).
Maybe A script that Give permission to CHANGE_CONFIGURATION for morelocal2 without root? (4.2+ need that)
Or there is a way to extract from the orignal Roms in different countries or my country?
with & without rooting:
How to Enable Languages in the S5 Keyboard & T9 dialer ?
thank you!

It's not practical to support all languages on a single firmware version. The most obvious answer would be searching to see if any carriers using your S5 model support the languages you want. Then install that firmware. If you live in an Arabic country or Israel that shouldn't be at all hard. If you live in an English speaking country, then your request is esoteric, but have a look and it may well be that they are included in the firmware from one carrier or another.
Second, see if there are any apps to add localized languages. Google used to maintain an Android language pack but it appears depreciated after 4.2. An app like Set language would at least direct apps to use the language you want, even if the UI was still English. So that would be a partial solution as well.
And have you done a good search of XDA? There may already be threads doing what you wish, but as you can appreciate this is not of interest to most people and no one has read every thread on XDA.
.
Thank you!
But,I think it must be a way to extract Languages from the orignal Roms in different countries,
Even NeatROM that has all the Languages and put it in USA Deviecs. (with or without root)
Even get the Keybord from his rom..
I just don't know how to do that

Sure there is. But that doesn't mean that it is easy to do or even that there is much interest in doing so. It is one of the reasons that I suggested you do a search of the Play Store and XDA - to find out if anyone has already repackaged or otherwise extended language support.
If you haven't done an exhaustive search, then you don't know yet if what you want is already available.
.
I try to find Languages Pack in S5 & Note 3 in XDA even in old Samsung fourm and no luck there,
Languages.XML don't work anymore becasue samsung remove the Languages. (as far as I know)
So no luck!
Update:
I found this: but what it does - (/dev/block/mmcblk0p12) ?

I have no idea what your question is.. since you didn't pose it.
The block address (path) points to the S5 EFS partition.
.
Using an unlocked SM-G900A (the ATT variant) in Brazil and everything works fine (even the 4G LTE).
The phone is rooted (towelroot) and tried a number of language enabler apps (Language Enabler, More Locale 2, etc.)
I want to change the phone to use Portuguese-Brazil.
I have search the forum extensively, but can't find anything how to install additional languages on this model. I found this thread, but it seems to have died out a month ago and other user reports errors trying to install a SM-G900M firmware on this S5 model.

Help!!!!!!!! I needed an assistant in my phone

Phone note 4 sm-n910s I need to add Arabic or Rom phone to sm-n910c I need a free site with all paid
Hello!
Just set your ROM language to Arabic in the phone settings:
Open settings -> Go to language -> Select Arabic
Mobile is Korean and has no Arabic language
Mobile is Korean and has no Arabic language
I'm pretty sure it has to have Arabic language pre-installed. I've never, and I mean never, heard an android device not to have other selectable languages pre-installed or that one specific is missing.
Did you look properly? Maybe you just missed it by not looking properly.
The Korean phones are properly considered their own rheumatism does not support Arabic
Hm, didn't know that.
After a little of research I found this app on the Google Play Store. Maybe this helps you out.
The only problem about this: it needs root access or the user to set the required permissions "manually" via adb.
I think it's worth giving a try if you're able to do it via root or adb.
If that doesn't help you out, I'm out of ideas. Sorry.
Thanks
