Hello, I just got a s4 and I love it. Where I got it said it is unlocked. Now how can I check to see if it is truly unlocked. Also is there like a easy guide to rooting it?
Try a different carriers sim. It's the only way to check if it's unlocked

I'm sure you can carrier unlock your S4 and allow you to use another Sim card. Try searching for it

I think you can carrier unlock for 3G data only. But I think Sprint has to give you the code, and you have to be off contract or paid up on your phone.
If you look around you will see the domestic unlock only rolls when you are on mf9 bootloader and can go back to mdc If you are on 4.4.2 the best you can do is foreign unlock after 90 days on Sprint and then they will unlock it.

I rooted my Verizon S5 yesterday with TowelRoot and want to put a new ROM on it because, lets face it, Touchwiz blows. Anybody care to explain to me how to do it? Thanks in advance.
You can't. The bootloader has yet to be unlocked.
Really? Damn that sucks. Can you explain that to me too? Please

What Is Bootloader?

Bootloader unlocking should not be confused with Android rooting.
Oooh okay, so just because the device is rooted, the bootloader is still locked. Also, just as the roots for each carrier's device is different, the bootloaders are as well?

I have an AT&T Galaxy S 4, SGH-I337 running Android 4.4.2 and I want to unlock it. I haven't had any luck with doing it my self through the Service Menu, I guess due to KitKat.
My question is If I use Towelroot to root my phone, will I be able to unlock my phone and use on T-Mobile?
Thanks for all the great stuff on your site!
Have you tried this? It's in the general forum

Recently went through similar ordeal. Seems they took away the menu that allowed it to be unlocked. Luckily, I was able to get the unlock code from AT&T by submitting it online.
On my other s4, I was able to downgrade and unlock as normal. Try looking for note 4 or s5 methods as they may be similar.
I have a galaxy S5 for VZW and well they figure out how to unlock the bootloader using a DEV edition Bootloader!!

So is this possible with our devices?

I'm no expert, but with two years of advancement, I'm sure there's going be some hurdles in implementing that into this version, but man, I'd love to see it happen.
