First off, I updated my GS4 OTA to I337UCUAMF3, which I wish I hadn't done. I lost root from it from it because I didn't do my research before accepting the update. I then searched for a way around the update and was able to re-root my phone. When I went to flash CM10 to my phone, it booted into download mode (Odin Mode) with a message in the upper left corner that reads:
Could not do normal boot.

I found a fix for this that allows me to reboot my phone into working order. However, I am no longer able to boot into Recovery Mode, nor am I able to factory wipe my phone. Any time I attempt either of these things, it goes back into the "Could not do normal boot." Odin mode. I tried going back to stock, but it fails every time. I'm sort of new to all of this, obviously, but any help would be appreciated. Everything I have tried has been based on things I've read on XDA, but I guess just because someone posts something doesn't mean you should try it. Lesson learned.

having the same exact issues. Ive been trying the past 4 hours on getting it to work.
I think you're both hosed. You can try jtag. Check out mobiletechvideos.com. but call them first and explain what you did. Jtag may not even work.
Mf3 update has new bootloader. No custom recovery options as of now. You can have root but no recovery no flashing.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
You lost root because, as you said, you didn't do any research before accepting the OTA update. Now you're about to bork your device trying to flash onto it without, yet again, doing any research. I don't mean to be a hardass but I don't want to see anyone with a brick on this forum. You would be better off with an unrooted stock s4 and just keep your eyes and ears on xda for root/recovery updates for MF3.
Cheers

I get the same thing as well. You said "I found a fix for this that allows me to reboot my phone into working order". Could you explain how you got this to reboot back to normal? That's all I want at this time too.

Currently, it's sitting on the ATT sphere, white background, with the blue LED light on, got the opening chimes on the reboot as well. Been a couple of minutes now sitting there...
UPDATE
Was able to power it off as it was getting hot, got it plugged into laptop, charging animation is on, with the red LED light on as well. Cooling back down. What do you think now?
UPDATE 2
Did a reboot after charging for a bit, still hanging on the ATT sphere, white background, with the blue LED light on

I am/Was in the EXACT same boat as the OP. I did what was posted above and I was good to go, meaning I can use my phone etc. I have had the phone for 5 days after using an iPhone for 5 years so I am still learning and almost learned the hard way. I will just wait until I can flash ROMs etc.
Thanks for making this thread OP.

I'm having the exact same problem. I had read on the forums that people with root were able to install the OTA update no problem. But after I'd installed it this problem came up and there were no solutions in sight

The solution is in post 7 of this thread...though that will get you able to boot, you will not have a stock (or any) recovery...as trying to install a custom recovery when it's not actually possible is a bad thing!

Have you tried what was explained in post 7. Boot into download mode and when it gives you the option to continue or cancel, cancel. Others have reported this working.

Yes I did. Actually my situation is a little different. But was hoping to grab info from here too.
What happened: Installed Chainfire3D by accident. Reboot and from that point it got stuck in boot.

All of these are 4.2.2, mdb, mdl, mf3. If you have the first two there's hope. If you have the last one, which I'm guessing you do, its no going to be so easy.

Or perhaps the creeps in charge at AT&T will unlock the bootloader, that would get everyone up and running again. I've done my part to send them messages to that effect...(perhaps I should have not called them creeps, but I can't come up with a nastier term that is able to be printed politely.)

There is no way as of now to reset knox counter on note 4....maybe in future.
Extremely unlucky you got that rare bug. I thought it didn't exist anymore
PS: at some places they still offer hardware warranty despite tripping knox..you might wanna try your luck.

Refer to the 2 posts above this one.
Try taking it to the service center and hope that they fix it under warranty. That's your best bet if nothing else is working.

I think you wrong with Recovery of wrong android version.
Try to fix with correct android version recovery. For example. ,if your phone is Android 4.3, if you used Android version 4.4.2 or something else, your device can not boot to recovery mode. Or may be wrong with Model Number
i have exactly the same issue flash with odin and pass but still bootloop cant boot to recovery either
my bootloader is n916k but sticker model at the back n910c i flash both n910c and n916k and pass odin flash still bootloopp

Im from portugal , so I need a rom/firmware that works on my country... help pls guys

If you're still able to get into Download Mode, the device is soft-bricked. As to firmware, are you using Optimus, Vodafone, or a smaller carrier?

tmn , its the most used in portugal but the roms didnt work as I said
Nevertheless, you asked for a ROM. Your ROM is here. Assuming you can get into download mode, make sure you're using the original cable and the cable is directly connected to the PC (i.e. not using a hub). Post any error messages Odin generates.
Awnser #2
So the first rom the 9505XXUHOJ5_I9505TMNHOJ1_TMN , i've already tried , and the error that odin gave was, nand writ and the fail.
Ill try to install the 4.2.2 version to see if it works .
I've tried the I9505XXUBMF8_I9505TMNBMF1_TMN/ rom , 4.2.2 version from the site that u give to me, and nand writ and fail again... (((
Humor me.
Enter Download Mode and read off the model number given there. I want to confirm you don't have a Frankenphone before recommending you bring the phone to a Samsung service center to have it looked at.

Take it in for service. If none of the stock ROMs will install you have a hardware issue.
When flashing a stock ROM, you should flash the same or newer firmware to the phone.
Are you using the original Samsung cable to flash the ROM? What errors are you getting in Odin?

whats is the diference between a rom or a firmware?
No, im using a regular cable... the pc detects it so there's no problem I guess...
Sorry about the confusion. Firmware and rom and pretty much the same thing.
Even though my s4 and s3 were detected with any old sub cable I had on hand, I could only flash the stock rom in Odin with an original Samsung cable. I would always get put errors without the Samsung cable.
@RubenPimenta: Sometimes yes, sometimes no. You should be using the original cable, rather than an aftermarket one.
oK ill try with the original cable and I'll post the result ...
but until now the error its always the same... nand writ fail
Same results...

STILL NEED HELP! Im using windows xp there is some problem with dat?
You should be on Windows 7 at least. Try another computer, but if that doesn't work, follow my advice in post #9.
Hi All,
It is about a week or so, that I have my GNote3 - SM-N900 stuck on the animated Samsung logo and heat a lot. Since a while the phone is randomly freezing and reboot .. I got used to it and restarted it each time..
It happened suddenly after it has, again, rebooted alone..
I have never tried to change the ROM or the bootloader and either rooting, It is a full stock from Orange.
Here is a short video when I try to reboot the phone.
What I already tried without any success :
- Take off the batteries and wait between 30 sec to all the night.
- Under recovery, I cleaned the cache partition.
- getting into safe-mode, but the phone does not accept the said sequences, ON button + Volume up (when Samsung Galaxy Note3 is on the screen... Instead it continuously keep rebooting as the ON button has to be keep hold.
I wish to not wipe my data as I need to migrate those into my new Note8 ..
I have been told in another forum that there are stock roms that don't wipe all the data, but I have no clue about how to identify which ROM to use.
I use Heimdall 1.4.2 under Ubuntu 14.04
So before getting live with the Note3, I wish to try on a S4 (GT-i9506) at least to make sure the process is not wiping..
Here is the details of the 2 phones - both are under Android 5.0.1:
GNote 3 :

PRODUCT NAME: SM-N900
CURRENT BINARY : Samsung OFFICIAL

REACTIVATION LOCK : OFF

Please read the rules and don't BUMP.
Really not a clue what you are asking
S4 ask in the correct forum and that's not the same rom as Note 3 .
I have been told in another forum that there are stock roms that don't wipe all the data,
Go back to that forum and ask .
You have no backup so are at risk of losing data whatever you do be it a factory reset on phone or flashing a stock rom .

Hi JJEgan,
Many thanks for your return. I had to bump as my post is already 5 days old and no reaction..
So if it is not clear enough I will try to describe a bit more in details:
My problem is definitely regarding my note 3 ( SM-N900). I know that the image for the note3 and s4 is not the same of course .. never mind forget the s4..
Regarding the no wipe, there are images that are designed to not wipe the phone, it is manely an update of the system so the phone can repair the system only.
Now regarding what I have done since my posting:
I have used this rom N900XXSEBQB1_N900SEREBPA1-SER.zip it was available in sammobile.
And flashed it with odin with the computer of my friend (windows7). The flash went ok and after rebooting, it went one step further the samsung animated logo and shows up a software update window that was counting up to 468.. then rebooted again but then freezed at the animated logo..
So here where I stand.. and you are right, I have no backup..
Hope to get some more help
cheers
Recovery mode??
If so try wipe cache reboot.
Fail try factory reset wipe data.

Hi, I got a 2nd hand J7 pro with Android 7.0 on, no root or anything. I used Odin to install TWRP, and it worked just fine.
The next day I tried to install the official 8.1 update using odin, it took 4 minutes and passed on Odin . But the phone won't boot, it reaches 30% of Android updating progress then it reboots to a blue screen with a yellow triangle and an Android figure with an error no commend. I tried installing multiple ROMs, thinking that the ROM I installed wasn't the right one , no seccess.
After a while, I managed to reinstall TWRP with the touchscreen working, on an official 8.1 Android. but the phone is stuck at the black screen with Samsung J7 Pro. (Not boot looping, just stuck)
Please tell me if there is a hope to get it back, even to the 7.0 and how?
Thank you.
Can u boot to download mode? If yes try to downgrade to 7.1, or use twrp to wipe all the system and install one of the tw based roms avaiable here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7-2017/development
Edit: did you tried to wipe data and cache before boot? I've had a lot of struggle to boot samsung roms before doing that
Thank you for replying!
Yes I can boot to download mode. From what I read it's not easy to do downgrade.
No, I didn't wipe anything.
I'll try the TWRP method, I'm downloading this [ROM][8.0][TW][J730X]PrometheusLite A8+ Port V3.0 - EOL. And I'll keep you posted ?
Thanks again!

I highly recommend you to get the note8 port first, since TW oreo roms may not work on some screens

Thank you.

It's not bricked so no need. As long as it boots to download and recovery mode it's possible to recover the device.
Warranty is already blown.
@Doppler Effect
Post a screen shot of download mode.

Somehow fixed!
I flashed the A8+ port, the touch didn't work but I was really happy seeing it boot, then I saw your 2nd reply.
The note8 port worked! with some bugs
I had to reroot using a SuperSU zip worked
The Sim is readable yet I can't make phone calls.
I think it has something to do with the CSC and OMC or something like that, working on it.
Thank you to everyone who has replied, much appreciated.
