Hi folks, I am kinda new to the Rooting scene (say a few hours). Well a user posted the note 4 stock apps somewhere on XDA and out of some wild excitement I flashed the S Browser for the note 4 onto my N900 (octane core) note 3. For some reason Internet (I.e the stock browser) won't open and keeps crashing. I do have a NANDROID backup and tried installing the browser alone with Titanium Backup which didn't restore anything. Of course I have Chrome (posting this from chrome) but I really like the stock browser. Please find a work around to restore my browser without having to restore the entire backup
welcome to the world of excitement.... next time just make a backup of the files that you're going to replace... for your problem... just google around for stock note3 browser and replace the files...

Hello
I have a S2 backup rom (created by CWM) with some important info on it.
I have since sold the Galaxy S2 phone and moved onto a Galaxy Note GT-N7000
I have used 'nandroid browser' for example to search for the raw files within the rom - but couldn't find them due to the search method being too difficult.
So I thought is it possible to load up the S2 rom on the Galaxy Note and take what I need from it ?
How do I go about doing it ?
I have rooted the Note and have CWM installed ready to go.
Any help would be grateful.
Many thanks for reading and any tips.
I really really would not recommend it, Although they are similar, there could be disastrous consequences..... Is it really worth it for a few apps ?
Why didnt you just make a Titanium backup before switching phones?
You can browse the nandroid files on your PC, use winrar or 7zip, Find the info you want, extract it and copy it over to the Note.
You can manually restore data from old cwm backup. Extract it with winrar and copy what you need.
I had lost my contacts so I extracted backup and copied related files.
But do not restore the back up from recovery.
I'm not bothered about the apps, its text messages and pictures!
As for masking a backup before switching phones, that's why I used CWM !
One backup app is the same as any other.
As for using nandroid and winrar, already done that - as already said no good.
It's easier to install S2 rom, boot up, connect to kies and export text messages to desktop then sync on the note later.
As for retriveng pictures, again go into usb mode, search internal sd card and extract - job done!
As for installing rom, too late already done it!
you installed s2 rom on note succesfully?

It seemed to load ok using cwm - choosing the 'restore a backup' option.
When the phone rebooted, the Note N7000 boot screen appeared with the yellow triangle.
A few distorted video lines appeared, blank screen but could hear the start up theme, but no picture and no access to the operating system.
Worth a try though!
I may just buy another used S2 just to get what I want from the image and sell on again.
yeah its very dangerous not even worth a try, but thats my opinion. people have destroyed phones by flashin recovrring stuff not meant for their phone lol

nandroids are not transferable, So if you have s SGS2 you will not be able to restore that nandroid on a SGS3 / Galaxy Note ect ect. Thats why you should have Titanium backups, You can restore a TB backup across a million devices.
you should use titanium backup to explore your nandroid backup of s2 for apps.. and if you want the data of s2 then do a advanced restore of data onto your note may be that will work

You can try AppExtractor: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...iwiY29tLmhhbmR5YW5keS5hcHBleHRyYWN0b3JrZXkiXQ..
It should be able to restore your text messages from the nandroid backup.
i lol'd, it's like you have been waving $500 in bills above a fire...
As i read you want to retrieve your personal data, maybe ask a friend with an S2 to borrow it for a day, root his S2 and make a backup from his setup with CWM and then restore yours on it. After your done flash back his backup and your done

Wrong. It is not. Nandroid is VERY device-specific.

Also, some useful data is part of system apps that don't reliably restore, so should be backed up in a more portable format.
Nandroids - Snapshot of currently running system state
TiBu - Backup of installed apps and data used by those apps. Usually not good for system apps
Call Logs Backup and Restore - Backs up call logs to a portable (and human-readable) XML-based format
SMS Backup and Restore - Same as the previous app, but with an obvious difference.
I am in the market to buy a new Note 3 and I was looking to see if I can backup my S3 on VZW and then transfer everything to the Note 3. I usually use TB or Go Backup/Restore Pro to backup my apps and data when I clean flash a new Rom and didn't know if I could do the same with crossing platforms with the Note 3. Thanks in advance

I have the same question... I tried backing up my Note 2 using TB and restoring with snapshot image. Didn't really work as planned. Trying the XML restore now to see if that's better.
Anybody know more about this?
I came from the S3 and was able to restore my TiBu backup. I restores all data apps along with data, my call log and SMS log. Don't restore any other system app as they can cause issues.
Yeah I am only looking to swap over my apps and data. Nothing system wise.
Download your apps on the Note and transfer the data from the gs3.
I do it all the time. I have a copy of a game on my tablet and save the progress (data only) in my droobox with titanium. I download the data on my phone, and titanium updates my game where I left off.
Hope that makes sense.

I ended up just restoring missing apps and ALL Data (assuming that means app and system). Seems to work fine now. I'm guessing the system data includes wi-fi, screen layout, ring tones, etc....
Worked for me anyway. When I tried to restore ALL APPs and ALL DATA the whole thing went haywire and I had to do a reset/wipe and start over with TB.
Hi
Please help if you can.
I have a new Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (T330) uk tablet. I also have a huge folder of backup apps from my sons Nabi2 using titanium backup. I just want to put them on the new tablet.
I tried rooting using this thread: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61421937&postcount=4) but it didnt seem to work, it patched ok through Odin but then when I boot to recovery there is no TWRP to use to install the supersu zip file, so it didnt go anywhere.
So
Instead I tried CF Autoroot and it seemed to work perfect.
I did make sure to use the 4.4etc version and not the NU American version, so I believe the file was the correct one for T330
I then installed Titanium backup, its pro key, link2sd and its pro key.
The link2sd aspect seems to work perfect so thats not an issue, all setup as per the Nabi2 and seems fine.
But when I try the restore from Titanium Backup, it gets a little way in and hangs. I tried setting the preference handling to indirect but doesnt help. I do apps only (no data) and doesnt help. Also, some of the time it hangs on different apps, so its not the app causing problems I dont think. I also disabled market link, no help.
So any thoughts on the problem or solution please?
Is it that the backups were from a different tablet, eg the Nabi2? (Reading online suggests moving apps without data across platforms is fine)
or
Is it a bad rom from the CF Autoroot? Any way I can try the original link (which might have failed because mine is the Euro version of the tablet?) instead to do the twrp root?
or
Do I have a bad Titanium backup version form play store right now?
Just dont know.
Also, another complication:
My backup apps total 850 (yes I know its a lot but my son loves them and his autism will not let any be deleted) and I did try install them all in one go from the play store and it seemed to work but on a reboot it hanged, bricked, so I had to re flash original firmware back to factory. Seeing as the slower, smaller 8GB nabi2 has no problem holding the 850 apps so I would be surprised if it turns out to be breaking the limit of the Galaxy Tab 4, but is this possible? There is plenty of internal and SD memory free after the install.
Trying to restore backups to the tablet memory before later moving with link2sd also hangs, so to be that rules out link2sd being the problem.
Please any help? Anything would be appreciated.
My thanks for reading
Alex
PS: I did think that swapping his Nabi2 for a more well known widespread tablet such as the Galaxy Tab would be a good idea as the Nabi2 is getting more scarce, but it seems to have turned into an unexpected nightmare.
My question is in the title.
To backup and restore my stock browser bookmarks, I use BookmarkSB for Galaxy Note 2 (stock rooted, deodexed and deknoxed 4.4.2)
Recently, I bought a Galaxy Note 3, and I am running (like my Galaxy Note 2) stock rooted, deodexed and deknoxed 4.4.2, but BookmarkSB does not work, and I have been trying to find, without success, an application which can do what BookmarkSB can do
I found the following 4 files which I thought could be related to bookmarsk in data/data/com.sec.android.app.sbrowser/databases
SBrowser.db
SBrowser.db-journal
thumbnails.db
thumbnails-db-hournal
So, for testing I made a backup of these 4 files, deleted some bookmarks from within the stock browser, restored them and set the permissions as before, but then my browser just crashes..
How can I backup and restore bookmarks? I would eventually like also to transfer bookmarks to other devices, too.
Is there any simple and free application that can do this?
I would like to do this locally, and not to use cloud.
Can anyone help me? Thank you.
Just SBrowser.db

Thank you.
I restored only SBrowser.db and set the permissions. The browser did not crash, but the bookmarks did not come back.. I rebooted, but still no bookmarks... Then, I deleted browser cache, but still no bookmarks..
Is this your suggestion? Or is this what you do to backup and restore bookmarks?
I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Yes, i backup them like that. Works every time. And i restore them only on my Note 3, not other devices.
And as far as i searched too, there was no good app to backup the stock browser bookmarks, and this option was the easiest and quickest.
For your case, i really don't know why it's not working. Seems you did everything right.

I tested again, but definitely, my bookmarks are not restored with this procedure. So, there is something different from your system.
Thank you very much any way for your advice.
Me too, I looked for an application for a long time, but I have not found any. Before it was easy with BookmarkSB. Now it is a real pain.
Note for is Marshmallow 6.1 I was looking for a simple way to transfer all my settings and history over I understand many Apps wont work.
i use multiple browsers that each have their own bookmarks and history, specifically opera 51.2 , chrome ver 73. , Brave and Firefox. I wanted to transfer apps also along with my gmail account info I also have whatsapp. Ideally Id like to have a bup on my pc I have both windows 8.1 and win 10. Yes I have copied all photos and videos over via USB cable. I first thought of Titatium pro so I rooted both phones used the option in titanium do a full backup to my 64 GB SD card, when I tried restoreing titanium would lock up I had to do a selective backup because there are certain files/apps that are incompatible I thought at least I would get my basic data transfered after 20 trial and failures, I realized this is a little more complicated. On my ASUS I was not getting my bookmarks or any apps to work. I next factory reset ASUS tried Google backup restore, contacts transfered but History and bookmarks didnt. I just tried Mybackup pro and I tried Helium free also bookmarks and History not transferring over along.
Looking for suggestions, links tutorials to try
