Any way to increase LED light output? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I've noticed that the LED light widget isn't that powerful on the S4, and GoldenEye doesn't seem to have it in the drop down menu like my S3 did. I use the assistive light widget, but the output seems to be lacking. If I install a flashlight app, it's much brighter, however I do not want a flashlight app with all the permissions they want. Just for a light!
Is there anyone who could code it to be brighter, or maybe a parameter I can dig into using an app to get into the filesystem?

Just use Wanam goto lockscreen/hidden flashlight

Hm, I hold the power button, but it doesn't have a flashlight option. Latest version, safestrap. The wanam xposed mod doesn't work either, the one where you hold the volume button to turn on.

LED as Flashlight, Applications

Okay so in the internal T-Mobile myTouch Champion website a user
posted a thread like this to share information about which apps will
work to light up the LED for the myTouch Slide.
Free Applications:
LED Desire Light: This application allows you to alter the brightness of which the LED lights up in 5 different increments. It also has a text entry space of which the application will then turn into Morse code through the LED.
LED Light: This application isn't as bright as LED Desire, but it comes with a nice widget with similar styling to the default widgets of the phone. Although these widgets are not the same size.
Akari: This application has the same brightness as LED Light but with a very simple UI...just one large "On/Off" button. This application takes up practically NO space too. So if you want a light app...this is it.
BeamWidget: I really like this widget, it allows you to tweak the brightness and more closely resembles the default settings widgets but the icon is a TID BIT larger than the default settings widgets. I believe this one MAY be as bright as LED Desire Light. Download Here
Post here if you find more and I'll edit my original post to include your recommended application.
I use BeamWidgets, someone over in the Desire forum is developing it. Simple widget... You set the brightness when you add it, and it works wonders.
You can download it here:

LED Desire Light works gret on the slide. I love the fact that it offers brightness controls. I also use Flashlight, a market app that uses the screen for light. It allows for one-handed brightness controls and puts off good light if used in a smaller area.

After using all of these applications I definitely have to say that Beamwidgets has to be my personal favorite. The link in the OP will direct you to the dev's thread on XDA where he mentions to be launching other widgets soon which will also be very nice.
Its simple to use and very bright which is something that other similar widgets can't offer in terms of brightness.
Everyone should definitely check that link out.
thanks for sharing
One thing to remember is these LEDs were not realy meant to left on at full power for long periods of time. If you are not carefull they WILL burn out. Use wisely folks.
I will use this, but the only time I ever regularly use my phone as a light, is at night, when walking from my living room to my bedroom after all the lights have been shut off... so 10 seconds at a time shouldn't be a problem
Awesome! Nice to have, when you drop something in the dark. I set the power to about 75%, puts out pretty good light even in a well lit room at that setting.
Another one that I found is led light by picolyl. It works pretty good as well. Has a 1x1 widget. Tap for on, tap for off.

How to set notification led color?

I noticed (unless it was my imagination) 2 different colors for my notification led (which I was pleasantly surprised to find), Gmail is like a light blue, and I think it was fb that was regular blue, so is there an app to set the led color for each app?
Or at least see all the colors it can display?

You can use LightFlow which allows you to control the notifications (light, sound, vibration) for a ridiculous amount of apps. Works perfectly on the Nexus 10, I've used it on my Galaxy Nexus forever. It's a phenomenal app. That's the lite version, there's also a pay version which unlocks more features.
+1 for lightflow, I use it on my phone its great. Trying it for my N10
I'm pretty sure some apps have built in customization for the led color, I've seen it in the facebook and facebook messenger app.

It works very well. Prior to configuring lightflow notifications were not illuminating the LED. After setting up lightflow all is as it should be.

I looked in the Facebook settings but all it had was a toggle to enable notification light, no to change the color.

lol.. well I had found this app before starting this thread, however it seemed like it was messed up because it kept showing a light when I had no notifications. Turns out it was "No signal," and after disabling everything in Light Flow, I can test the led for colors.
I suppose you cannot use any other apps that Light Flow doesn't have? for example Facebook or Google Voice? I don't see any way to add an app. oh well.

Are you using the lite version. Facebook and GV are there for me on the paid version

You can't add programs but the paid version has like over 300 different apps I think. Well worth the dollar or two. I use it for Google Voice on both my N10 and GNex and it works perfectly. If it's not there it's likely due to being the lite version as mentioned above.

That's odd, my phone doesn't even have led notifications support and it shows it to me in the options though lol.

I've noticed the following:
White - Gmail/Gtalk
Green - Yelp, Flight Track
Blue - Facebook
Red - Google+
I heard there was a Purple, but so far I haven't been able to trigger it.

Craigsnotifica goes purple. (Edit: On my S3) Try that.
If you couldn't tweak the color led light for Facebook, go to Setting -> Notifications -> Light
If you're willing to root and flash a custom ROM, many feature the ability to control led and set custom colors on a per-app basis. From personal experience, I know that the AOKP ROM by Task650 and Ktoonsez has an awesome interface for doing so.

[Q] Lockscreen flashlight

Hi
Is somebody knows if its possible to have the flashlight trigger by holding the home button on the lockscreen on a stock touchwiz rom?
Thanks
light
not sure about that but there is an app called galaxy torch you can set as a toggle on the favorite apps setting on the lockscreen
Thanks but i found something else ,its a app called flashlight led genius, while youre on the lockscreen you just have to shake it and it light up.
You can adjust the sensivity,so it wont light up for nothing

yep, just tried that app. very useful to be able to shake your phone to turn on the led light. thanks for sharing.
its faster than have it set to light on home button, i like it a lot ,touchwiz improve a lot but missing some feature and its a bit laggy.
I dont think im gonna flash a custom rom now, dont want to play with my waranty and loose all touchwiz feature!!

Fastest way to light up the led (lockscreen)

Just found a really cool apps on playstore.
I was missing the feature to light up the led while im on the lockscreen.Yes theres widget you can put on the lockscreen, and some rom have those
feature while you press home button on the lockscreen, it light up.
But i want to keep touchwiz feature and the widget was not as i expect .I like to have dashclock and the widget dashlight unlock the phone.
So take a look at flahlight led genius, you can set up the sensivity of the sensor so it wont light up for nothing

Nice! Works great...thanks for this find!

Flashlight & Notifications

Just a quick question to see what solutions others have found for these items...
I know there's a built-in flashlight widget, but I prefer a clean desktop. Is there a way to add it to the notification, power control or power menu areas? (Maybe I should put widgets on the lock screen...)
Also, on previous phones with custom roms, I have grown accustomed to a different color LED flashing for different notifications (SMS, Facebook, Mail, etc). Is there a way to do that on the N3 yet?
Just looking for options. Thanks.
Have you tried this for the notification light colors? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466233
And you can try to download and use notification toggles from the market to add more toggles...
Use Light Manager or Light Flow (my favourite) to control the LED colours. Have fun.

Try Knock V2+ for notifications, even better than light flow (in my opinion)
For flashlight, download UTTER! and just switch it on and off with a voice command!
Thanks for the tips. I'll try them all out and see how it goes.

I've played with Light Manager for a couple days and I've moved on to Knockv2. I have it activated and set up for a few apps, but when the screen is off, there's a yellow LED flashing... but nothing on the phone warrants any type of notification. Is that from this app? I disabled it but the yellow flashing continued. I haven't tried uninstalling it. I also am not seeing actual on screen notifications (icons) that the app is supposed to provide.
I customized come colors with Light Manager, but have since uninstalled it.
Ideas?
Uninstall/ reinstall seems to have resolved the issue with Knockv2. Still looking for a flashlight solution. Utter is COOL, but I don't necessarily want to talk to my phone.
