Hong Kong just release the Note 4 (N910U) on 30th Sep,
by using the same Core Processor(1.9GHz Quad + 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor)
in HK note 4 is N910U,but in Korea is N910L
is it just about the different of service provider?
Because it seem that there are so many different kinds of note 4 ,
and in US and Europe are using Snapdragon 805
Im worring about the whole root progress,
would it be so long for rooting the 1.9GHz Quad + 1.3GHz Quad Core Processor version of Note 4
Im a guy that cant live without root,
is there anything i can help to fasten the root progress?
(except sending my phone to the programmer in US or Europe )
+1
See if you can contact @Chainfire and see what he thinks about these new devices. Hopefully it arrives before "L" so you can get some root time in.

Hi, this is not related to rooting, but may I ask for some help.
If you don't mind, please install the Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app and send me screenshots from this app. I need its info to improve the app for better support for Note 4.
Thanks in advance.

not N910U, is N9106W rooted :crying:
as i see , N910U is hong kong version and N9106W is china version
it may because SamMobile havent upload the Firmware of N910U,
we cant get any news about root for N910U.
As you might need it the root of N9106W is in "Galaxy Note 4 Android Development"
Hi,
I'm from Hong Kong too and bought my Note 3 in the afternoon of 30 September, thats when it was available in some shops (thanks to occupy central). I'm also waiting for a root. But I guess, we in HK are the first badge of people to get hands on this phone, and we are not the ones to make root. So will have to wait for our fellows in Europe and US to come up with those nice roms and roots!
Come on, someone please release a root, i'm willing to try a beta root and brick it (not).

I'm a hk guy too, and referring to some of your questions here (don have a note4), I can give u guys some suggestions:
- to root the phone is not a problem, as long as u dont care about the knox warranty thing
- the n910u model is only available to asian markets, specifically hk, china, etc
- due to the limited availability, I'm afraid that n910u may not get any support/mod/custom kernel here, although some of them should be compatible with n910u
- personally, if u care about supports from here, I would suggest u to buy a international model instead which covers the lte bands in hk, ie, what we called "water goods", or u will be isolated

LOL just don't get why people want to import from Korea. They are 200$ more expensive, they don't support other country 4G frequency, they have got stupid koreen restriction, and they are bigger than international version.
What is the point to pay such as a phone?

Actually, it's the same size. Exactly the same size.
EDIT: First, the Korean Variant is sold cheaper than the International Variant here in our country. Second, we confirmed that the phone's LTE bands are working with our networks. Third, what Korean restrictions? The SMS thing? Mine's already set to 160 characters. Fourth, as I've said earlier, the size is the same. I'm using an S-Cover from the International Variant on my device.
.... so yeah. Why would we want this S4 LTE Octa-core variant, neh?

Plus, it's Octa-Core LTE capable and has a 32Gb internal SD memory unlike the other two SGS IV variant which is actually a combination in specs of the i9500 (Octa-Core/Non-LTE/16Gb internal SD) and i9505 (Quad-Core/LTE capable/16Gb internal SD) variant.
How did you put 140 char to 160?tia!

If NOT, are there any other roms available which will work on SHV-E300L??
Hello guys,
I live in China and I'd like to buy a Note 3, therefore, there's only following versions available here: N9002/6/8/9
I used to have a Note 2, Chinese version too, which was impossible to flash through Samsung's standard tool and once I bruteforced the flash with other tools, I detroyed the phone (couldnt receive signal anymore and be recovered) because Samsung's phones in China have a different modems and bootloaders specific to China).
Currently, not so many custom firwmwares are available for the Note 3 but in the future, I'd like to use them. Knowing Chinese models might be different, do you know if I'll have the same issues as with my Note 2, meaning:
- not being able to flash other region firmwares (Chinese version doesnt have Play store and you cannot install anything like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or other famous foreign apps and that's ****ing annoying)
- not being able to flash custom roms for popular versions like N900 or N9005
Thanks
N9006 - Note3 - Chinese One
I've got my Note 3 - SM-N9006, couple weeks ago and try to root with Root de la Vega to get rid of the problems that you thought.
But failed now.
Trying to figure it out to bring the phone back.
So, think 2 more time to buy a Chinese Note 3.
Regards,
@op dont tinker too much.. Its possible to root without much hassle。。n9002 is the china unicom branded one/ n9006 is unbranded SD800 but 16gb/ n9008 is china mobile (keep in mind they have their own 3g band) / n9009 is china telecom(cdma)
@navalarcitect .. You forgot to to switch that "reactivation lock" to off in settings... Do that and try again...It would be succesful..
I've have had s2 s3 and s4 all made in china for the chinese markets rooted and using international firmwares enjoying all the google goodies china strips off.
For note 3 i went for exynos because it offers 32gb against the SD800 which is 16gb in China and HK.. Cheers
Buy the HK version at any of the phone markets of your choice
I think the short answer is DON'T BUY THE CHINA version, unless you have unlimited time to play/tinker with it in the hope that you might be able to internationalize it... Note tha 99% of the people making roms and modding the Chinese version are Chinese, who won't care about English/play store etc... so even if you do see ROMs most of them will be made for Chinese. Also, even if you do get it working, no more android updates for you...
The even shorter answer is, buy a HK version from any of the phone markets... In Shanghai there are many and they all have HK versions (often same price or cheaper than the China version as smuggled in without 5% import tax and 17% sales tax). You can tell pretty easy what model the phone is, and they're used to laowei (and many ABCs, etc.) wanting the international version.
What would be GREAT would be if the dual sim version was available in International. In the past it was only available as the China version. I really need a dual sim as I travel so much, but am just too scared/nervous and lacking in time and knowledge to buy the China version and try to root/internationalize....Am keeping an eye out for this, but not holding my breath as Samsung never did a dual sim N2 and you have to assume carriers hate them...

@hatnim, II'd like to buy my Note 3 with a subcription to reduce its price but 'd like to stay away from China Unicom as they have crap netwrok coverage, I moved to them 1 year ago to finally have 3G on my iphone but I really regret it. From what I understood the 3G Chinese network can also be used in other regions of the world can't it?
How did you manage to internationalize it since there is not yet a Chinese version of the SM-N9005? If you have a SM-N9002 or SM-N9008, they should not be compatible with international roms (at least that was not the case with Note 2, in my case, I had to purchase the N7100 Chinese version to be able to use it with internatiol roms).
Additional question: tt seems you have the Exynos version but it's still not out in China if I'm not wrong. Where did you get it?

Well subscription with china mobile is good but you cant use 3g or higher when outside china ..you would be stuck on 2g.. they have their own homemade 3g spectrum or something.. if that isnt a bother you can go for that.
The chinese version n9006(sd800) is different from the normal n9005.. to get playstore and other google stuffs stripped off , you would have to install the hk version or taiwan version(roms that start with zs)..hk/tw is not restricted like mainland..
Yeah i did buy exynos because the sd800(n9006) they were offering here was 16gb and had no lte compared to the n9005.. so i got the exynos 32gb for 600rmb cheaper and its from hk or other place..

+1 for your support Hatnim! I think I'll go for the international version. But one last question since you seem to know a lot about chinese band. Do you think if the International version will receive China Mobile's 3G and HSPA+ signal?
Btw, for how much did you pruchase your Exynos version?
I got it for aprox. 3550RMB online (i guess you know of taobao, .and here is the catch, if you have a chinese friend with CC you can have it on installment plan, like mine is roughly 310 x 12months)..
And sadly no to your other question.. China Mobiles 3G (TD-SCDMA) is home made and i havent heard of any other carrier using it... Your only bet would be Unicom which uses W-CDMA ...I know Unicom really sucks..
Note 3 is no problem!
Hi,
I have a N9002 for about 1 Week now and it´s working good!
It took me only about 3h to root, install Google apps including PlayStore, and the Nexus Keyboard to get more languages.
All you need you can find at XDA!
I took the N9002 because I need dual Sim AND need to run it all around Asia and Europe.
For the dual sim version you will find nearly no custom roms, but that´s not neccessary for root, Google Apps and Keyboard!
Only the China Unicom Version works in Europe and most Asian countries!!!!!
I don´t know why you had so much problems with the Note 2?
I had the Note 2 (also dual Sim version from China Unicom) for around one year and it worked perfect. Also rooted and injected Google Apps and Nexus keyboard.

Close to impossible with a Chinese phone, the Government mandates a locked bootloader where a major part of their surveillance mechanism is located, go to Hong Kong where the phones are open.

You can still root the device, will trigger knox, but if you're overseas it won't matter much. Once rooted, you can install Google apps, facebook and even youtube. I have done it on my 9002. Works fine. Gmail, Contacts, Calender and G+ to name a few.....oh yeah and Play Store, which works great, can select stuff on my pc and have it sent and installed on my Note 3 with NO PROBS!!
You can flash anything, you just have to be careful because there are 2 types of N3 out. One has 16gb and the other 32gb memory. This results in different size partitions for the different system directories. That's why so many people wind up with bricked phones.....technically it's because the PIT is different. (Partition Information Table).
As for the surveillance mech, I am skeptical that the Chinese Gov would mandate a locked bootloader, do you have any evidence?

Your phone KNOX is still 0x0... warranty not lost... take it to samsung , they will Jtag it and it will work.
Also if you have the original rom, .PIT, pda, phone,csc... you can flash through odin with repartition ticked... however your prevent reactivation means only Samsung...
BTW, you can buy 9005 and 900 in china through HK parallel export and vendors after some bargianing, would offer a 1 year store warranty... I have 1..

You can't update firmware to American version. What you can do is to "westernize" the Chinese firmware.
Follow this thread:

Hello guys,
I have a soft-bricked N9002 and I am trying to unbrick it.
I tried to upgrade to the latest official firmware, CHU-N9002ZNUENG4-20140805155712, Android 4.4.2, through Odin but I ticked "Nand Erase All", which I think was the mistake. The phone is now bootlooping to the China Unicom splashscreen, with the mentions "RECOVERY BOOTING...Set Warranty Bit: recovery" and then vibrating twice before bootlooping again.
I am not accustomed to Samsung phones, but from what I have read on the forum, I would need to flash a PIT file to re-partition the phone.
So my question is, does anyone have such PIT file, or where can I get it?
Thanks in advance!

Can any one provide assistance on this? I was told by a fellow N900L user that using a custom rom aryamod + Lean kernel might help. I do not know how to install custom rom and kernel. Does anyone know how to do this?
any updates on this? I just have may Note 3 2 days ago, and I'm having problem with weak sigal on TM/Globe.
Can it possibly root and flash a custom rom, I'm thinking to have it on Cyanogenmod ROM
First, check that your SIM/Phone provider offers 1. LTE 2. LTE in your area
Secondly, If your phone is a Korean Original, I dont think it will be global-ready... you may have to update the modem & CSC in order to receive the 4G/LTE bands that you are after.
Third, check the reception bands of your phone model and check that your provider/country uses those 3G/4G/LTE bands. (eg: 700MHz, 750, 850, 900, 1600, 1900 etc)

I have had a brief look in my files and dont have your models firmware or modem to send.. I am not sure if SM-N900L has cross-compatibility with SM-N900S for example, I recall something like that or vice versa..
There are a few options;
- Find and download the firmware appropriate.

unfortunately there is no available stock firmware for n900L...but it's the same specs with n9005. so i guess i won't be havingg a problem with that stock firmware.
I'm currently running CM13 in my n900L, the rom was for n9005 and other Note3 with the same specs as Snapdragon800 chipset and Adreno GPU
It's work for me, i'm use ALL Band
Thanks bro :good:

Did you try manually select the band?
Enter the secret code *#2263# (*#BAND#) and try.

Glad that you sorted it out.
Hello,
I have the Note 4 910C that comes with the Exynos processor. I can't get the LTE icon to show up and I want to change my ROM to a European ROM like the UK ROM. I can't seem to find it for the Exynos version.
Can I install the Snapdragon Note 4 ROM on my Exynos ROM? Can anyone give me a link to stock European ROM that will show the LTE and work with the Exynos version?
Thank you!
Why would you ask such a silly question? Read all the stickies and all the roms 1st pages and ask yourself...

No mate u can't install Snapdragon rom in Exynos, it will brick your phone.
Someone can help you if you give details of your phone.
@jdomedia Thank you man. Unlike some other people who would rather type unusefull information instead of helping, you actually did help me. Hope more people like you are in this world.
@Ausboy 2011 if you don't have an answer, don't reply. Not all people know the same information or how to obtain them like you.
My guess is that either your phone doesn't support your carrier's LTE baseband, or your APN settings aren't set up correctly.
I wouldn't be able to help you since I live in the US, but if you tell us your carrier, then maybe someone can give you the proper APN settings and needed basebands.
And yeah, that reply was pretty rude. It's not like you were asking something that is all over the forum like how to root, or easily researchable like if the Note 4 comes with micro SD support. IMO, you were asking a legitimate N00b question (no offense).

I have a N910C purchased from Handtec - it's running the latest Hungarian ROM (5.1.1 COH4 - available on Sammobile). I'm using EE and get the 4G icon (not an LTE icon, although the connection shows as LTE in the settings menu).

I think you have given all needed info, but what carrier are you using the phone on? Is it Handtec?
Hopefully someone can help you. Sorry I can't. As I said, I live in the US and am only familiar with the big 4 carriers here and their Note 4 variants.

I'm on EE - but my post was intended as information for the OP. I'm not having any problems and don't need any help. 4G is basically LTE, as far as I know that's just the way it's described here in the UK - in any case, I'm getting great speeds.

4G is the same as LTE !!! If you have 4G icon ,you have the fast internet from it. You can test it by OOKLA speedtest from the Play store
Yes, I know - like I said, I was only trying to give the OP some helpful information. Thanks anyway :/
I have the same question i'm using Note 3 N910C which is Exynos Variant, and the question is can I install this ROM >

Hi,
I recently bought a S8+ (Exynos) from a Korean friend..
It works fine but constantly ask for roaming cause I'm not in Korea.
so I tried to install Official firmware SM-G955F with Odin but it didn't work.
I have to install the official firmware SM-G955N again to be able to use it and also I could root it.:fingers-crossed:
It is possible to change the firmware from SM-G955N to SM-G955F?

No, yours is snapdragon, g955f is exynos. You can't flash firmware from that model since they have different chipsets

SM-955x specs
This is just an FYI for anyone else that might read this thread looking for info.
It is correct that many of the SM-9500 (S8) and SM-955 (S8+) variants (US, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong) use the Snapdragon 835 chipsets but all of the variants of both S8 and S8+ that the whole rest of the world got all use the Exynos 8895 chipset. That's a ton of phablets. There's a lot of misinformation out there but if you look at the spec sheets that Samsung has themselves supply as well as the official Wikipedia page, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Another for instance, I've seen lots of sites that say the S8+ has 4GB of RAM which is only true of the 64GB version. The 128GB version has 6GB of RAM.
If you look around on XDA and a handful of other sites, people have flashed different CSC's with varying degrees of success. I have no idea where the issue stand currently, but I am working on figuring out what I'm going to do with my SM-955N variant right now. I don't need it working completely ATM as I still have my daily driver but I will be rooting (no warranty anyway since it was imported) and flashing. I am playing around with it and so far everything works great. I just haven't gone as far as getting it on the network as my SIM is one of those that can be resized to different sizes. It's currently a MicroSIM and once I snap the edge off to make it a NanoSIM I can't go back...without some super glue LOL! I'm not sure I want to risk that just yet as I don't want any of that glue getting inside my phone.
