While trying to enter download mode, my phone (d800) will automatically boot up. It does this whether or not I hold the volume up button, or any button. No matter what I do, it gives me the LG Splash screen and then boots right to the home screen. How can I get this to stop? I don't have any custom rom, not rooted. Currently on ATT version d80020y.

Im trying to flash a new ROM but cannot seem to enter recovery mode:
I had revolver 3.6 and wanted to upgrade to the latest, so I held down power and selected recovery, now its in some type of rebooting cycle where it tries to boot up with the "Eee Pad" in the center and the "ASUS/NVidia" at the bottom, this stays on for about 3 secs then it appears to power off and the cycle starts again.
Holding down just the power button seems to do nothing, but if I hold power+volUP for a few seconds it seems to make it power off for good. From this powered down state, pwr or pwr+volUP does nothing. From this powered down state pwr+volDown brings up the boot screen + the small white letters in the upper right saying to hit volUp within 5 secs to enter RCK but if you do this then you get the reboot loop all over. If you let it sit there Itll allow you to either coldboot or eraseuserdata+cold boot. This allows the tablet to boot up normally.
But I just can never seem to boot to recovery. I have revolver parts and the reboot2recovery and the recoveryinstaller.apk all installed. What am I missing?
What about cwm? Sounds like you still on stock recovery.
How did you root? And how did you flash recovery? Were you ever able to get into recovery?
My gut tells me your recovery isn't compatible with your bootloader and/or boot.img.
Thanks for the help. I don't think i loaded cwwm when i originnally rooted. I reded rooting and it put cwm5 on.

sorry was wrong.
try turn phone off, add usb, then press volume up. I think that's it.
Hi
did no work also
I am having the same problem, went to lg service centre, they could not enter download mode as well. I might need to change the circuit board for $321 singapore dollars..
Hi
i think you have to use this fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
This happened to me,
Try holding the power and volume down hold until lg logo, let go and press and hold the volume down and power again, it should get you in recovery.
It might get you into a screen called "Factory hard reset" Agree using the power button, and it should take you to your recovery, and try flashing a ROM along with the Gapps (if you want, which I did) and then I used a recovery file after booting back into recovery to restore it to my previous state.
Good luck :good:
Shut down phone
From what I got from this, you're having problems shutting down your phone, correct? It keeps booting back up after the screen goes black? If this is the case, hold the power button (and don't let go) until it goes black, reboots itself, then goes black again. Shouldn't take more than 2 seconds after rebooting to shut down. Then, you can do volume up + USB to get into download mode.

Hey guys, I'm coming from the m919 forum, but maybe you guys could help a brother from another mother(phone? lol) out...
My s4 has been acting very weird lately. The button combo (vol up+home+power) doesn't work for me. If i try it, it goes straight to download mode. I get no gs4 splash screen at all. Only way to boot into recovery is through goo manager. BUTTON COMBO DOES NOT WORK!
If I restart the phone through the power menu it only boots into download mode. If I turn off the phone through the power menu, it will turn off for a second, and then boot into download Mode as long as the battery is in. I press no buttons. Only way it reboots "regularly" is when I get into recovery through goo manager and selecting reboot system.
Only other way to boot the system is doing button combo for download mode and hitting cancel when the screen comes up.
I was advised to Odin back to stock, which I did. Problem is still there.
The phone did turn off and stay off for about an hour, then the download mode thing came back. This is driving me crazy.
Has ANYONE run into this problem? It can't be just me, my luck can't be that bad.
If it matters, I'm running rooted stock 4.2(MDL) with twrp v2.6.3.1 installed

Hi,
Have this old thing, and charged it up after years, and am trying to get into it, but realized I had a lock screen
and password I can't remember
So I'm trying to get into recovery to restore it to default, but when holding Home+Volume up + Power it boots to this screen
and not recovery. I am pretty sure I haven't moded the boot loader and firmware
Anyone know how to get into the recovery? or any other way to get past the lock screen?
In doing some research, that is the download mode. But someone else had the same problem and instead of holding the Volume Up, the Held the volume down on a Galaxy Tab and it worked.
When I try Volume down, If I keep the buttons held, it goes in a loop. And if I release them when I see the logo, it boots into a black screen powered on, but no menu shows up
if the recovery is incorrect for the device (wrong model) it'll send you straight to that screen.
solved by flashing one for the model you have.

Can you try boot to download mode (Press volume down when turn on your phone)
It reboots on htc powered by android screen, never pass that screen. and i only enter to bootloader menu direct when pressing volume key and power, i dont have a menu before, and there is i press the download mode or recovery mode phone restarts gets to HTC screen and reboots.
I try using the adb commands but i connect the phone to my laptop, it is shown in devices as android device my htc, but the adb devices never recognize it. So i cant to anything there. I was thinking of using XTC2Clip(no sure if that helps and how it works), but i cant affort to buy that and not work. So any recomendations on what else i can do i will appreciate.
in bootloader screen i have sotftware status official, locked s-on production.. and actually to get to that screen i need to press volumen keys up and down and power for awhile to get there, if i only press volumen down and power when it gets th HTC screen it reboots.
Thanks
