Hi there,
I use Omega rom on my galaxy S5. Yesterday my phone got a bit wet but for a s5 that shouldn't be a problem. Now I noticed a bit of water drops on the back of my battery so I dried in rice.
Here my problem,
My battery is working fine, it's charging and the phone works great. But when I turn off my phone and I put it in the charger it automaticly boots and starts. And when it's in the charger I can't use my lock button it's not working so I can't turn my phone off. When it's not in the charger everything is working? So I thought this has to be something with the ROM or whatver... Anywayz I can't flash or do anything because when I try to go to CWM Phillz or in downloading mode I have to put in the USB and the phone boots and starts.... SO this is really annoying cause I cant flash or use my CWM when my usb is in.
And I can't start my phone with the on button. I have to go in recovery first or in downloading mode en restart my phone from there to start it. It does react on the ON button but it's just a flash and nothing happens..
Thanks!

You`re not supposed to get a wet battery as that area should be sealed on the inside by the rubber band. Did you try pulling the battery, wait 20 seconds and boot into recovery. If that doesn`t work you may have more water damage then you think. Did you close the usb flap correctly?

Yeah tried that... Phone is actually working great. I can make phone calls shoot pictures and the sound is also ok. It's just the booting problem when I charge and it's not starting how it should be.
It was closed but it still leaked.

It would take out the battery and put the phone in a bowl with uncooked rice for a few days to let it dry completely. If that doesn`t help you may have the phone repaired.

When I turn off the phone, it vibrates to let me know it is off, and then it waits two seconds or so then turns itself back on.
I have done hard reset after hard reset, put the latest KE8 on and it still does it. Could it be a battery fault?
Do you have Advanced Power Menu installed?
Nope. It is now not letting me switch it on unless plugged into the charger.
If I switch it on away from the charger, it shows me a battery on the screen with a flickering yellow warning triangle with a thermometer next to it.
Any thoughts?
sorry to hear that!
i've had this problem about one or two months ago, after i flashed a new rom (can'r remember which one, was it lightning?). did almost everything i could
imagine (flashed other recovery, kernel, modem) and nothing helped. also a
complete fresh install (wipe everything before) didn't solve this!
the only thing which worked for me was to go back to my old rom. after that
everything was fine again!
so, i cannot say what causes this, but if you flash another rom it should work again! if not, try to repartition with odin, using one of the provided PIT files!
yep also had this problem when i first flashed cognition. my phone would reboot after turning it off. and if the battery went dead, when i plugged it into charge it would turn itself on instead of going to the battery charging screen. all i did was reflash the rom and all was fine.
This morning I updated to Android 2.3.4.
If I root like this:
http://androidflip.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s2-android-234-xxkg1-firmware/
Will it help do you think?
Just to update, it seems to be resolved now using this:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxkg1-android-2-3-4-firmware-rom-on-galaxy-s2/
Thanks for your help guys!
And now its doing it again lol
I can live with it, but a couple of things like it thinking there is a USB cable connected seem to happen every now and again...?
hmm thats the same way as i did it but i didnt do the yellow triangle trick so im not sure about that. everything else is standard, thats how i flashed my rom and i only had your problem the first time i flashed. did you do the yellow triangle removal?
I did the remove triangle thing yea.
I do think it is a problem with the USB connector, it could be touching itself inside, possibly causing a shortage as it occasionally thinks a USB cable is connected.
So, if I turn off, it could be thinking that the charger has initiated connection and starts up to charge, but can't charge so just continues to boot.
I have plugged the usb cable in and with nothing at the other end, and nothing pops up. So it could be something like what I suggest. It has been ok for an hour or so now so fingers crossed lol!
lol that cud be it then. it wud make sence. might wanna get that looked at tho if you dont wanna risk damaging the phone. if its doing what you said, then it cud end up killing the phone if it shorts it out permantly. let me know how its going in a day or so.
Even on lock screen if you press and hold the power button for 8 seconds the phone does shut off, is it happening for ya?
I had this a few weeks back. Reflashing cf root kernel fixed mine.

Likewise, solved my problems with the phone rebooting itself instead of turning off.
Hi folks, wonder if anyone has some pointers for my phone ...
I have performed successful task29 on it.
Sometimes it will turn on and go into bootloader and sometimes it is recognised as being plugged into USB cable by the pc. But I can't flash custom recovery, it gets stuck and says error.
Sometimes when I power on it just vibrates continuously, the screen stays black.
This has cotulla hspl on it, version I can't remember - as it is refusing to go into bootloader at the moment and just vibrates like crazy! - but it is 2 point something.
Thanks for any suggestions
Peace
chill teh phone in a sealed bag in the freezer for a while, 20/30 minutes, , if the phone seems much improved when cold, then you have overheating hardware issues.

Yes it is: another motherboard with 100% success!
Might be that your pins on the phone are not all touching the battery terminals
Hello,
Last week I was using my phone as usual, I put it on my desk for about 5 minutes and when I came back it had turned off. I tried putting it on charge but the orange led doesn't show any activity. The phone doesn't turn on and doesn't do anything. I tried booting it on recovery but that didn't do anything else. I also took off the battery and put it back several times.
Help!

try cleaning the battery contacts and also the usb contacts, i had mine where it wouldnt charge all night and died and it was just dust caught on the +5v pin of the usb connector.
There is lost of dust in the usb connector, you should try to clean it. The battery might be dead, you can try to buy another one but...
That didn't work. (does the led light turn on if there is no battery in the phone or it must have one inside?)
It does need to have one inside to lit the led
If you know someone with a DHD, you should try his battery. But your phone is probably dead... Fortunatelly, the GS3 will be announced soon !
The title says it all. For extra information:
So I got the battery full using universal direct battery charger and put it back. Switching it on without the charger plugged in won't work but switching it on with a charger plugged in does. You can even unplugged it after that vibration when turning on. That means, it's not the battery... you can even see the battery's full after booting successfully.
Not only that, with or without the charger, the S4 would heat up so much. No it's not the apps, even in safe mode or just while booting it would start to heat up. It wouldn't stop heating.
At first I thought the problem was the switch cause it won't turn on. Then I figured out it would turn on... but with the charger plugged.
Hmmm, any idea what cause it? It just happen all of a sudden one day. I'm thinking that, even if the switch or the port looks fine they may be the cause. Short-circuit I guess. Or I don't know, just my wild guess. If you experienced this one before, please share you experience and how you fixed it.
I'll add the edit I made on my reply here to make it easier to read.
EDIT: The heat is coming from the upper right area. Very close to where the switch is and sd card slot. Do you think it's the switch? If it's the switch, it's working well. No sudden reboots or shutdown due to the button acting like it's pressed when it's not, etc etc
EDIT: FIXED
Flashed Albe95's LolliRom http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-albe95-lollirom-official-1-0-t3049564 and also flashed Imperium Kernel (afterwards... because I thought I already did -_- )
At first I thought I would switch ROM to see if it's really the ROM that caused my problem (Stock with AEL kernel).
I downloaded Albe95's ROM and it took some time before it really boot successfully. On the thread it says that it would after 15mins, but mine after 15mins is still not booting. I flashed many times thinking that I made a mistake, like I forgot to wipe, etc etc.
The overheat problem was still there while it boots. It gets really really hot. I thought it is really a hardware problem now, I flashed a new ROM and therefore the kernel was changed, and if it was changed and it still has that problem my conclusion was right.
BUT...
I put it in the freezer to battle the heat. When I took it from the freezer, the phone's off. I thought the coldness what made it turned off. I took it, charged, and turned it on. And when it turned on after plugging it in... the battery's empty. It was around 50% when I decided to boot again and wait.
While it is still cold, I tried to turn it on again and wait now this time for it to boot.
Albe95 said it would take around 15mins only, but mine did boot past 15 mins. Can't blame me why I thought it's stuck on bootloop for many times. Now I'm thinking if I have only given Imperium ROM a chance... HAHAHAHA too lazy to flash and wait for a long time again.
Please hit thanks if I helped someone in the future with these issues.
what s4 model, rom and kernel do you have ? any mods ?
the battery could still be the problem. can you test it with another one, a friends maybe ?
Maybe a short circuit by sweat water that got into the phone. Open it up, take the board and other other easily removable components out and clean them with Isoprophyl(cleaning alcohol) and a new/clean soft brush, reassemble and see if it helped.

This might do. Did not thought of this.
It's more on hardware I guess... Not kernel or ROM problem. Or, ok fine, just to be sure I'll try to flash Albe95 ROM. I am on Stock before and accidentally wiped the system partition also while trying to factory reset via recovery instead of data, cache, and dalvik only. Even without the ROM, it overheats very much.

I recently got a Note 3 from a friend thats purchased a Nexus 6P instead.
Reason being that his note 3 sometimes turns on but overheats and drains the battery within minutes, or it doesnt turn on at all and a weird clicking noise is heard from the speaker.
It also overheats when charging while the phone is off.
He purchased a new battery thinking thats the problem but the same problem persists, now when I got it I was thinking that maybe I can do some more troubleshooting and see if there is a way of fixing it.
Any help is appreciated.

Did you try download mode?
I tried that, problem is that it doesn't turn on, the display is black and only some poping noises can be heard when battery is inserted.
I got it to power up once but it didn't take long for it to drain battery and turn off.

Try to disassemble your phone. Check motherboard. Look for symptoms of short circuit. I`ve got note 3 for 2 years. It`s easy phone to repair.

Okay so I have been experimenting a little with it.
After opening it up I could not find any evidence of water damage or short circuit.
What I have found out so far is.
1. It starts up when plugged in and charging. (after it starts up I can unplug the charger and it stays on just fine.)
2. If I turn it off it won't turn back on again unless plugged in.
3. When on it overheats even when idle and screen off.
4. When charging (even if turned off) it overheats/feels extremely warm to the touch.
5. Vibration doesn't work, but could be my my fault as I removed the motherboard, will have to open it up again and see if I missed something.
The phone has been dropped several times and has some damage although not on the screen, just the sides.
So if I can get it fully working I might just buy a new housing for it.

Flashing stock didn't help, still the same problem.
1. Won't turn on unless plugged in and charging.
2.Overheating.
Any ideas? Thinking it can be the USB port maybe, but would it overheat like that if it was just the port?
