[Q] Touchwizmod v3.0 freezes in boot - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi there
I try to install on my HD2 (SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE) Android with the ROM Touchwizmod v.30. I used the HD2 Android Nand Toolkit 4.3.1. and followed a 5 step instruction:
1. Installed HSPL
2. Wipe (Task29)
3. Installed Radio 2.08.50.05
4. Installed MAGLDR with
- first attempt: 250 MB, 45 MB Cache
- second attempt: 357 MB, 10 MB Cache
- third attempt: 380 MB, 5 MB Cache
5. Installed ROM from SD-Card (after formatting)
Last installation information is:
System NAND: 357 MB
Free: 355 MB
Data NAND: 49 MB
Free: 47 MB
SD Card Size: 7783 MB
Free: 7219 MB
SD-Ext Size: - 1 MB
Free: - 1 MB
The boot always freezes at the screen showing the S and HTC TouchWizMod v3.0
What was wrong?
What can I do?
Thanks for your help
Rainer

Hi HD2-User-101, welcome to the forum. It is not clear which install method you chose in aroma installer. From your data partition size, i assume you have an EU 512 hd2, therefore you should have chosen the dataonext method. But your sd-ext size is only 1mb, it should be around 1gb, depending on how many apps you want to install. You should be able to increase sd-ext size using recovery (ext4).
Since you will be using dataonext, you can increase the system size up to 400mb, why not since data is on your ext partition.
Good luck

Found it now formatting SD card with ext size 1024 and Swap size of 128 MB
Started AD recovery again
System NAND 400 MB
Free: 398 MB
Data NAND 6 MB
Free 5 MB
SD Card Size 6678 MB
Free 6359 MB
SD-Ext Size 916 MB
Free 900 MB
Installed the TouchWizMod.zip again to the SD card
Install Location: Native SD
Full Install
Default Connection Type: RMNET Connection
Wipe: Wipe Dalvik-Cache
Right now copying files 80,97%...

After successful installing it starts now always with the MAGLDR bootloader
For a short time I can read the red error message NAND kernel open failed

Go to magldr menu (switch on phone holding down end call button)
use vol buttons to navigate and LH call button to make selection
10 services > 1 Bootsettings > 3 AD SD Dir > NativeSD
Then
10 services >1 Bootsettings > 1 Boot source > 1 Android from SD
Then 2 boot AD
After any reboot it should boot into android

Next attampt:
Partioned the SD card again with
1024 MB Ext size
0 MB Swap size
Stored the TouchWizMod.zip on the SD card using MAGLDR USB mass strorage
Started AD Recovery
System NAND 400 MB
Free 398 MB
Data NAND 6 MB
Free 5MB
SD Card Size 6801 MB
Free 6482 MB
SD-Ext Size 915 MB
Free 899 MB
Install Location: NAND with DataOnEXT
Full Install
Default Connection Type: RMNET Connection
Wipe: Wipe Dalvik-Cache
The installing screen showed:
Installing to NAND and to SD-Ext
Mounting NAND and SD-Ext Partitions
Wiping Dalvik-Cache
Please reboot > NEXT
Congratulation Install complete > Reboot your device > FINISH
Load from NAND
It shows the flashing S with HTC HD2 TouchWizMOD v3.0 on the screen
Nothing more:crying:

Sorry Robbie,
saw your advice to late and made a new attempt. See above

Ignore my last post, for some reason i thought you were trying to boot NativeSD
Two things jump out at me
1 what size is the boot partition?
2 try to use an sd card reader to transfer files to sdcard, i think you might have problems using magldr usb mass storage. you can check md5sum of the sdcard file and your download with original from rom thread, if there.

Hi Robbie,
I removed the battery and put it in again
YES! It is working now.
What a nice programm!!
Thanks so much for your help
Rainer

Glad you got it sorted

Bad news.
I now installed the SIM card and it freezes again at the S
any ideas?
Rainer

[Q] Only 7.25 Mo of internal storage

Hello,
Sorry if this has been already asked but I couldn't find the answer using the search tool
I've just bought my HD2 today and tried the NAND method
Everything worked fine but whatever ROM I flash, I only have 7.25 Mb of internal storage available
I thought it wouldn't matter since I have a 32 Gb sd card and set the install location to it but I nevertheless get the "Not enough storage" message when trying to download an app from the market
Can you please tell me where I went wrong ?
Thanks
You likely have a EU HD2 512 and have installed a ROM for a US HD2 1024. Read the build threads before flashing.
Thanks for your reply
The link you provided is the guide I used : flashed 2.08.HSPL, then MAGDLR and finally updated the radio to 2.15.50.14
I then installed this ROM with CWM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951 . It's not mentionned whether it's for 512 or 1024
Did you mean I didn't use the right file while preparing the device or just the ROM ?
Thanks
OK, now I understand what you mean. There's a Desire HD Rom that says 47 mb left after first boot and that's exactly what I got after flashing it
I guess I'll just need a Gingerbread ROM that will leave enough space left after flashing on a Leo 512
If you have suggestions, because the 3 ones I tried so far left less than 10 mb after first boot =(
The one I would recommend would leave only 46 MB after install.

Hmmm, since you have the 512 version, I suggest making an ext 2/3/4 partition on your sd card to use app2sd+ or data2sd. so when you stall some apps, they go into the partition and not your internal storage. (the ext2/3/4 is a way to trick your phone into thinking that partition in your sd card is your internal storage)
Use the built-in advanced function in ClockworkMod Recovery to help create ext3 partition on your SD card. but you need to get ClockworkMod Recovery installed first…
Step by Step Guide
1. Backup your SD card data to PC before start partitioning.
2. Power on your phone and don’t let go power button.
3. DFT MAGLDR Bootloader will be loaded.
4. Press call button to load 1. Boot AD SD.
5. ClockworkMod Recovery will be loaded then.
6. Use volume down button to go down to ‘advanced’.
7. Then press call button.
8. Select ‘Partition SD Card’.
9. Select the ext size that you want (128M, 256M, 512M, 1024M, 2048M or 4096M).
10. Select 0M as the Swap Size.
11. Copy back your data to SD card.
12. That’s all.
CLICK ThankS
@rahan95
But the rom, you've mentioned - TyphooN CyanogenMod - is Gingerbread and should have left you much more than 100MB free on Int HD2 (I'm sure of it, because it's the one I'm using now myself and right now have 98MB free after installing few apps).
Check, if you've flashed with right settings for CWM - author of the ROM suggest 135M System/44M Cache.
Thanks for your replies
Coldest : I do have CWM instaleld since it's what I used to flash the roms. But it's on the Nand, not on the SD. Therefore, booting on AD SD doesn't work. Should I reinstall it but on the SD this time ?
Adecostres : I used this topic for installing CWM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
i flashed the 400MB thinking bigger was better but this may be wrong ?
Thanks again
With TyphooN's ROM, you should use this CWM (link from his thread): http://www.multiupload.com/5VH6M9XM8B
You will have 135M system / 44 Cache and more than 120M free space after flashing.
In this case bigger is NOT better - using bigger system part, you will have less space for apps
THanks a lot
I'll try that ASAP and will let you know !
It worked ! I have 229 Mb available after first boot =)
Thank you so much for your help !
Glad to hear

Is your sdcard set up so that partition 1 is the FAT32, and partition 2 is the ext3?
Just noticed, that 1st partition somehow changed to FAT16 trying to change to change to FAT32. EXT3 is ok...
SD card's partitions are ok now, but after installing this mod got thesame issue : after android logo phone just restarts. Maybe there is another mod to save applications to SDcard ?

[Q] Program closes immediately

Hi Guys,
i flashed my phone with the ROM NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.7 [NativeSD][tytung_HWA_r3.4] from tytung.
Now I have problems with some programms like browser and email and other.
After I start the Apps it closes immediately.
Have I made an error when flashing?
I've done it like this:
1. SD-Card formatting FAT32
2. HSPL4
3. Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14
4. Wipe (Task29)
5. MAGLDR
6. System Partition Size 180MB / 5MB Cache

Alright, are you installing the NAND version or the NativeSD one?
Secondly it's better to make partition through Computer by 'MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition',
You can try my method which I did on my HD2,
~ Make Partition on SDcard. ( 1 - Fat 32 | 1 - ext 4 )
~ Wipe (task 29) [ Make sure HSPL and RADIO are installed (latest version) ]
~ Install MAGLDR.
~ Mobile Partition - 180 MB / 10 MB Cache
~ Install the NAND version. ( don't restart the phone after installing, first install the two files below )
~ Install this; kernel: tytung_HWA_r3.4.
~ Install this; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716124 (INT2EXT+)
And finally restart it.
This is what I have done.
thx for your answer
ok so far everything has worked out, now i have 2GB free for Apps.

Hi Pixeldroid.
It is an awesome rom again. But I have again huge battery drain. And I saw that most is due to Google Services. Now my battery is in 5 Hours from 100% full to 25% empty. Google services is taking 42% of battery drain. Is it possible to shutdown Google services? I have allready did the following: Settings/ Accounts/ Google/ Accounts Sync OFF.
I found where to stop Google services, but I don't know if it wil give me problems with the rom.
Settings/ Apps/Active now/ Google services
I have stopped them all and wil see what happens.

[Q] Problem at installing TouchWizMOD HD2 ROM

Hello,
sorry for this simple question..
I try to install this ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126053&nocache=1 )
but I fail.
I done that:
1.Task27
2. Install RadioROM
3. 16GB Class 10 -> ext4 1500mb
4. Install Magldr
5. Copy the ROM to the SD Card
6. Try to install the Rom with NAND with DataOnExt and nativeSD
7.Reboot my Phone
It boots, but it stucks at the S-Logo..
whats my problem? thanks & sorry for bad english.. regards..
It should have worked with NativeSD, but there is more to DataOnExt than just creating an ext partition. You also need to partition your NAND accordingly. Use the Toolkit to partition the System to 270mb and 5 cache.
Sorry, I forget to say that.
I maked it with the Hd2 Toolkit. 360 mb : 45 mb (cache)
is this too big?k
I will try it with your settings. thx.

for this rom make this settings in the HD2 toolKit
- Task29
- install MAGLDR
- system size 400 MB
- cache size 10 MB
- (for CLK install 400/5 MB "i have not test the CLK install with my new rom.sorry no time for this")
- in the CWM go to - 10. services -> 4.UseLast24NAND
- install the rom with non swap partition
- this is the settings from the install with my new carbon rom on my 512 MB HD2
