Problem with rooting - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm having problems with rooting my S4 i9505.
I've rooted it before, but I installed a new stock rom, so I needed to root the new rom too.
I installed custom recovery via ODIN, and that worked fine.
Then I booted into the recovery, and selected SuperSU.zip or whatever it's named, installed that.
When the ROM boots up, it gives SuperSU has stopped working error, and when I update superSU via google play, it gives me error that binaries are not installed.
So what am I doing wrong, and what should I do to root the phone?

If your phone doesn't rooted yet , use the towelroot application it's should root your phone right

You can find an option in the recovery to root your phone. Atleast in Philz there is that option. After that install supersu from the playstore.

I flashed Chainfire-auto root with odin, that worked.

GT I9500 - Something went wrong with root?

Hey guys so i got a brand new GT I9500 today and first thing i did was attempt to root it. I've installed CWM + Clicked root device + New Method..
Now after rebooting and what not; Root checker shows that it IS rooter, meanwhile whenever i launch SuperSU it just shows the loading symbol.. Nor can any applications take root access. To top it off, i cant uninstall/update/reinstall supersu from now ..
Any suggestions?
Thanks
EDIT:
As dumb as it may be.. Somehow my SU updated via play store which messed up the binaries. I reinstalled SuperSU from CWM package and voila! Perfect now.

[Q] 4.4.2 undoes my root as soon as I flash SuperSU. Help?

So, against my better judgment, I installed the newest OTA update. I was running rooted 4.4 stock. I unrooted via the SuperSU options and installed the OTA to 4.4.2. Then I booted in recovery mode, loaded TWRP from a command prompt, and flashed SuperSU 1.80. Flash successful. BUT, then I rebooted the phone and it gave me the "Upgrading Android" notification again, just like it did when I first installed the OTA update. Then--no root. I'm assuming that it is undoing my root as soon as I reboot the phone. I tried re-flashing SuperSU and clearing the cache/dalvik before rebooting, but same result.
Help? Ideas? Alternatively, is there any decent firewall out there that doesn't require root, since that's all I need it for?

Upgrading TWRP and Root Problem

So basicly I just want to upgrade my TWRP version (from 2.6.3.2 to 2.6.3.3+) in order to flash new kitkat roms.
But I have 2 issues:
1) I have rooted my device and installed TWRP 2.6.3.2 on my LG stock rom, then I wanted to change rom, so I wiped all but internal storage and flashed Beanstalk 4.4.2 + GAPPS. Now it looks like there's a problem with my root access (root checker says that there is a problem and superSU won't install binary updates). Recovery works fine. Do I need to root my phone again or what? Can I just do these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887 all over again?
Edit: Ok, After flashing http://download.chainfire.eu/376/SuperSU/, I just needed to deativate supersu and reactivate it. Now it works just fine!
2) I wanted to upgrade my TWRP using FreeGee, but it looks like the app couldn't load without root access (Issue 1). So can I upgrade it with just doing these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 all over again?
Sorry for the long questions.
Thanks
Download the zip file for twrp. Boot into recovery and install the zip

Can't get root back

I cannot get root back on 4.4.2 at all on FNB8 (after OTA update)
Tried using Odin 3.07 and 3.09 with CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505
There are no errors, it reboots, goes through the small setup, reboots again yet no root. Also tried installing SuperSU zip through recovery. Still no errors but no super su on phone.
Anyone know where I'm going wrong?
EDIT: Also, just to confirm - I have checked with a root checker - there is no root
i always just use the option in philz recovery to restore root, then either install supersu app through recovery zip or install it form the play store.
it's under philz settings, then restore root

I have CWM touch, is it OK to just install over it or do I need to remove it first somehow?
just flash the latest philz using odin. whenever you flash a recovery it replaced the whole recovery partition i believe.
Tried rooting with Philz, it went through OK. Booted into OS, downloaded Super SU. Still not root
EDIT: Sorry Gloris, I got philz working, edited just before you made that next reply.
weird, i've never had that so not sure what to suggest. just to be clear, you got to download mode and flashed philz and all went fine in odin?
and just to be sure....try removing battery for 30 seconds, then insert battery and press and hold home key and volume UP while pressing power button (I tend to keep all 3 buttons pressed until i see the "se android is not enforcing" message and it's booting into recovery.
::EDIT::
no problem, did you get root working also? i've attached the zip that i flash after choosing restore root option in philz......i didn't make this zip, so not takign any credit or anything, jsut sharing it because it might be useful.
i generally prefer my device non rooted, but i use this method to quickly restore root to apply any rom changes then full unroot from within super su app. I found it's the easiest way to gain root access (works for me even from a fresh rom install too).

TWRP/CWM Method of SuperSU caused boot hang on custom rom

Hi guys, I was able to root my G900V, unlock the boot loader into Developer mode, re-write the recovery with TWRP and install AICP custom rom. It was working great, I put Titanium Backup on my phone and it warned of an old version of SU. It recommended I upgrade SuperSU, so I installed the SuperSU app. When it came up of course it detected the same thing (old version of su) and recommended update. I have never used the TWRP/CWM method so again I tried Normal mode. It asked for access and I granted it, spent some time acting like something was happening then failed. I rebooted the phone and tried again -- same thing still failed.
Since I had TWRP installed, I thought I'd give the alternative flash a try. When I chose it, it booted into recovery and flashed a zip file. When it rebooted, it tried to bring up the OS and it hangs at the AICP logo. I can still get into recovery but the OS won't fire up. I'm not sure where to go from here, I think I can start over with ODIN but I'd rather know how to repair this situation (if it's possible) since I started to get the phone set up...
EDIT: By the way, the rom was the AICP Nightly from 12/30 and TWRP of 3.0.2-2.
Solved
I downloaded chainfire's latest SuperSU zip file: https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/WrCvex7KAZR and flashed it in TWRP. Got me rollin' again.
