I have a nexus 4, which if you know has 2 gbs of ram. Never runs out although my nexus 7's ram drops quickly. More ram means snappier system... Just wanted suggestions on this

Android manages memory differently than a computer. An oft repeated mantra that holds true in this case is ”free ram is wasted ram.” Killing processes simply for the sake of increasing free ram is counterintuitive and only serves to reduce system efficiency.

Back in there day, there used to be a company that you could send your device to, they would desolder your memory and throw in a bigger/faster chip.
Dont know if they still do or the name.

Honestly 2 GB should be mandatory. Its what a couple extra dollars to the consumers...

This is correct. You are wasting your time worrying about whether you have 400 or 600 MB free. If you are completely running out and experiencing huge lags, then it's time to worry.

Mem leak in 4.3 ?

Is memory leak problem solved in android 4.3?

Which memory leak?

is there an issue? no problem here. are you sure that its not just one of your apps? a badly written app could potentially "leak" memory.
Ram used to take 1gb of memory... N I used to reboot to clear it off

I have not experienced it on 4.2.2 or 4.3, though I run stock.

i have never had ram take 1gb. i usually have between 1250-1550 free. right now i have 1327mb free ram. seems like you might need to take some time to take control of your apps. if you have root, greenify(app) will help, autostarts works well too. if you dont control your apps, they start controlling you and your device. personally, id rather be the one thats in control
I now have 0.94 GB RAM free but what does it matter? You have 2 gigs of RAM and its still running buttery smooth.

The N4 never had a memory leak. Don't worry about how much free ram you have, free ram is wasted ram and using it uses no extra power

[Q] Cyaogenmod 11 only shows 1 Gb of RAM

Hi,
I have installed the official CyanogenMod 11 build on my Nexus 10 32 Gb (Manta) from February 15th.
But it is only showing 1 Gb of internal RAM memory instead of 2 Gb.
Is this something because of CyanogenMod?
Thanks
Its something because of your screen, the nexus 10 dedicates much ram its amazing screen (and to a few other things as well) leaving the user with about 1gb ram available for "normal" usage

Repartioning nexus 4 16 gb. Is there a way?

Hi guys,
We knw that a nexus 4 with 16gb has only 12 gb user usable memory. After almost 6 mnths with my nexus 4 i admit 12 gb is not enough. I had read in some forums about repartioning the internal memory.i just want to know if there is a way to repartion nexus 4 such that we can atleast get 14 gb useable memory and spare rest for OS.

There's no way an average user can do that. And for some one very advanced it'll probably brick the device. So, to answer your question, no

RAM

Marshmallow / n6p use about 500mb more RAM than my Lollipop / m7 while running same apps.
On bootup with Lux, 500 firepaper and a few other background apps I am using 1.7 gb's of RAM. My m7 was using 1.2 gb's with same configuration.

More RAM is used as video RAM for the QHD display in the N6P.

Thanks. That makes sense. I was getting notifications on low memory during my day to day user.
It wasn't that long ago that I was running Windows with 2gb of RAM 2.7gb if I used the 3gb switch. Now I need a min of 3 for my pocket computer.
N6p uses 64 bit cpu which will use more ram than the 32 bit cpu on the m7.
