Hello!
I will buy one Meizu MX4 and I would like to know if there is anyone who has already one to know his impresions.
I have to say that I will buy it on Aliexpress ( china Price) and not in the Meizu Mart that is $150 more expensive
Thanks
I don't own a MX4 yet but I'm following it closely.
Today I read a very positive review made by HDblog.it, an important Italian website.
They say this device has good display, loud speaker and take great pictures.
They experienced some minor software glitches, but nothing major and we know that software issues can be corrected easily.
meizu mx4
I am also interested in Meizu MX4. But I am not sure about some points.
I can buy from China, but it will be Chinese model not global market model. Global market model is much more expensive.
So what are the differences beween these 2 models? I will use it in Europe, hence can I use both models or I do have to buy the global version.
There is also a watch accesorry for MX4, do you have any details for the watch?
Do anybody know how to get this dark theme and these quick toggles, that have no text label below?

I'm interested in the phone as well. There is review on http://chinese-smartphones.com which is pretty positive about the phone. They say the display is awesome and also very positive about the camera (which is Sony). Doubting if I will order one or stay with my Xperia Z1 compact

I have received my Meizu MX4 yesterday!
It's very good, it works fine and today i have installed via OTA the Flyme 4.0.3I.
I use it with Nova Launcher, because i don't like very much the original launcher and i was using it in my old S3.
The camera is superlative!!!!!! I shoot a photo of my keyboard, and i see each dust element between the keys! It's awesome!
Bye
TheJackall

Thanks!

Not yet. At the moment we have only flyme OS 4.0, by Meizu, based on Android 4.4. Soon we will have Cyanogem rom and ubuntu phone.
About norwegian language, I can't help you
Ok.. Well- i guess we need a custom rom for this phone- even a "standard" android would do.. i dont think flyme is any good at all- and their "back button" functions doesnt work.. even on google play when you watch screenshots, you cant get out of it..
Are there 100% sure that cyanogenmod will come?
For me Flyme Is bugged and lagging the phone
Anyone know the best deal for the mx4 at the moment?

I really doubt that you will get a huge amount on custom Roms for this phone, maybe CM, but when? This phone is designed for enjoying fast interaction, for taking nice photos, for playing in high resolution... but not for flashing Roms... Blame mediatek for not releasing the source code. I really like this phone, but the unavailability of Roms is a no go for me...
"Droidfish test" on Meizu MX4
@TheJackall @supercowz @Hwoarang04 ...everyone
Could someone 'benchmark' MX4 with Droidfish?
It could be 'top' with its MTK6595...
1) Install Droidfish on play. google:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.petero.droidfish
2) Clear all apps in background (hold home and swipe them away) and then run droidfish.
3) Press the menu button, invoke "Settings", choose "Threads" and select "Automatic", and then press back button to get back to chess board.
4) There is button with label "M" below chess board. Press it and choose "Analysis Mode". Analysis will start. Keep it running for about 1 minute.
5) After 1 minute passed, read and record the "knps": number at bottom of the screen. This is the measurement I'm interested in. This value is a number of positions searched per second (in thousands). The higher the better.
6) IMPORTANT: To force program to STOP thinking, press "M" button again, choose "Two players" so that analysis will stop. Post the results here with rom information (optional). Stock rom is preferable but other roms are welcomed.
Thank you!

Yes, you're right, but will the Exynos of MX4 PRO release the source?
And why mediatek or any other cpu/soc producer for smartphones will not release the source code?I mean if they release the code there will be more custom stuff and it will be a good point for a smartphone android.

Hi, when I tried the S3 in a store in HK today, I could choose lots of languages including Japanese. Once I chose that option, everything turned into Japanese. It was very convenience for me as I don't need to download special language option from 3rd party. However, on Note+ICS and Note+GB, I only found: chinese, english and korean. How come the number of language available is so limited on the Note even with ICS installed? Is it because such large selection of languages are only available under ICS 4.0.6?
I guess that's just how Samsung made it. On CM9 or AOSP roms Japanese language is available even on 4.0.3 builds.
Thanks. If I buy the Note (be it with GB or ICS pre-installed), is there any way to get the official Japanese language pack without the need to fool around with the system? The 3rd party ones I tried in a store did not change the system font.
I don't think that's possible - not without at least rooting your phone. But that shouldn't be a problem since the process is completely automated. Also i'd really recommend to flash CM9 which frankly is a lot better than stock and has full Japanese support ( both system language and kana input )

What about Japanese language voice recognition?
I recall that when I was in a store few weeks ago, I installed two Japanese language input apps. Don't recall the names. The Note was able to recognize simple Japanese.
Will I lose the S pen functionality as mentioned in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoZ2djKmFxk
Japanese voice recognition is available and working on CM9 ( tested it, inputs words in kana ).
And yes, CM9 is a variant of ICS based on Android Open Source project. It's pure Android without TouchWiz. The only thing missing from it are Samsung's apps like S-Memo but they're working on replacement apps which will soon be added.
Worth to take a look:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627854
If you don't want to flash custom ROM there is always option to root your device and manually install .apks responsible for Japanese text and voice input. People install keyboard.apk all the time and it works just fine even on lower OS version.
"Will I lose the S pen functionality as mentioned in:"
Yes and no. The S-Pen will still work as an input device, but as of now - CM9 does not have S-Memo app so you'll have to install some 3rd party apps.

Thanks. Will CM9 be able to install and run Premium Suite for sure?
If I install CM9 and my Note needs repairing, will Samsung refuses to do so by saying that I have voided the warranty?

Reflash to stock and you can get support from sammy when needed.

Chance for premium suit on cm9 is pretty low if u talking about the s note app. Due to it is heavy based on touchwiz, even we are going to get the support on s pen some time later. I doubt we can use anything from toichwiz library without getting bashed by samsung.

I think the reason why Samsung did not release a version of ICS for the international Note with the Japanese language is because Docomo sells the Japan variant of the Note call the SC-05D, as the international Note was never intended to be sold there to begin with.

Premium Suite depends on TouchWiz, hence will not be available within CM9 - unfortunately.
As far as warranty is concerned, whenever you need to use their service, you can flash stock firmware back and they won't notice the change.
Just bought the Galaxy Note with Android 2.3.6 pre-installed. I plan to stay with this OS at least for two weeks. I know that there are apps to allow one to enter Japanese. Is there one that allows me to change the system font to Japanese? Any recommended apps to allow Japanese voice recognition? Thanks.

Really? So there's no Japanese in any of the firmwares for the "global" Note? What's the point of that stupid variant? <_< Different hardware? (like the Note for AT&T).
Is there any way to add a system language without switching completely to custom roms? (I mean, just taking any official rom and add Japanese to the languages already available). Keyboards are easy to have, I've been using Google's for flick input and mazec for handwriting.
Oh well... I'm going to buy the Note and was hoping of using it in Japanese (just for fun, I'm not Japanese, just learning)... :crying:
Hi. I own the 5.5' Idol 3 (6045Y).
This is just some information I received about three weeks ago and I just wanted to share it.
This is the official response that I got from the Alcatel One Touch team on Facebook.
I was thinking about buying the idol 3 (despite the many reviews where the laggy performance is mentioned, which is somewhat true).
Nevertheless, I bought it. For the price it has some unbeatable specs which don't quite perform as they should due to lack of optimization. If they did, this device would be excellent. Moto G (3rd gen) is the perfect example of a well optimized device which is a serious downgrade in specs compared to the Idol 3, but performs slightly better. I know because I own them both.
Still, what I was hoping for THE MOST with the Idol 3, since this is considered Alcatel's flagship model, were at least a couple of system updates. At least one for Lollipop 5.1.1.
However, now according to their official response, we're not getting that, not to mention something like Marshmallow 6.0.
I mean, even the Moto G is getting that for Christ's sake!
Very, very poor customer care. I was maybe even expecting this to some extent. But I was hoping that this brand wised up with this device.
However, Alcatel remains Alcatel, if you know what I mean. But hey, at least they were honest enough with the response.
So, there it is. Maybe this will be of some use for future buyers to think about.
P.S. I'm new to XDA and I'm posting this thread from the desktop but I can't find any option to attach the messages screenshots. If someone could tell me how to do that, that'd be great. Thanks.

I wouldn't trust Alcatel customer support to tell me what day of the week it was. There have been multiple occasions where they have told folks on this forum things that ended up being blatant lies. When I first placed my order I tried to cancel it 1 hour after I placed it because I was charged shipping where it showed free shipping...I planned to simply cancel and re-order..something that should have taken 5 minutes...I spent a week going back and forth with Alcatel telling me I needed to cancel the order with amazon even sending them screenshots showing amazon would not allow me to cancel the order and the only reason it ever was "resolved" was that the stupid thing finally shipped after a week.
Actually I can confirm TCL is working on Marshmallow for the Idol 3, the bad news is it won't be released until the end of this year.

I got Marshmallow on it right now, I trust this custom rom more than TCL that makes me factory reset after every update.
Yeah, I would do research and get answers from more than one source. Before saying that Alcatel is not working on a 5.1.1 update. The person who replied on Facebook is just one source. I would email Alcatel support and see what they say when they reply. Of course this would depend on the knowledge of the person who replies, and if he/she speaks with the people that create the updates for the Idol 3.

Source within TCL that told me initially that they would release 5.1 but later announced they canceled their plans for 5.1 to go directly to 6.0. anyway, I prefer to wait a bit and get a really stable marshmallow rom than a somewhat buggy 5.1. most memory leaks and performance issues have been ironed out in 6.0.

You say you have Marshmallow running right now - I am assuming you have a custom ROM - so I have a question for you - Are you able to use Android Pay with your custom ROM on your Idol3 ? Android Pay has become one of the major uses for me with my new device - and I am trying to find out if it would still work if I rooted the device and put on a custom ROM. I have heard otherwise, but since you already have a custom ROM on this device, maybe you can clear this up for me.
TIA

Google does not allow custom roms to include GAPPS (Google apps) which includes google play etc...however there are various "GAPPS" available...paranoidandroid produces one for each version of android for instance...so it's a simple matter of flashing the rom first...then gapps.

I know I can flash gapps separately from a custom ROM - I have done it many times before. But this is not merely about flashing gapps and getting the Android Pay app on to the phone. It has been widely reported that Android Pay does not work on rooted devices. I am just looking for confirmation from someone that has this device and already has a custom ROM on it.
Alcatel/TCL support for update is totally poor... For every single model...
So I don't believe it will get 6.0
Too bad cause Idol3 5.5 is good phone and with specs could handle 6.0...

Given that no custom rom's have been made PUBLIC-ALLY available you'll probably have to wait a while for an answer. Google Play comes with the stock Rom and works fine. Best I can tell you for now.

Android Pay can work on a rooted device but not without some workarounds and not an all devices. I know this is vague but you can Google a workaround posted on Reddit.

I wouldn't mind at all waiting a couple more months for Marshmallow 6. It's just that since I got the response from their official facebook page about not planning to update even to Lollipop 5.1 I remain sceptical about 6.0.
Anyway, I really hope then that you're right and I'm wrong.

I disagree with this post.
If you look at at the amount of Android phones out there, being upgraded to the latest (non-security) Android OS is the exception to the rule. That is why I had a Nexus phone prior to the Idol 3. Comparing a Motorola phone to an Alcatel phone is insincere as well because Google bought (and then later sold) Motorola, so in terms of treatment for updates, they get specialized treatment.
I know everyone here have the same sentiments, coming from Xperia Neo and Samsung S4, custom roms and kernels are everywhere you'll be hard press on choosing which one you'll flash. Heck you can flash at your hearts content. Even my Lenovo K860 have support but looking at 6 months after our G4 has been release few support for custom roms and kernel can be seen. We've even struggling to unlock our bootloaders, comparing to the recently released Nexus 6P maaaan their threads are flouring with development that made me think I have chosen the wrong flagship. Praying that maybe next year things will change, the promise of LG for more unlocked device will see its fruition.
i love this phone over my s4 and s6, BUT, and thats a big but, the missed touches is infuriating and i cant recommended it at all cause of it.
Simply i feel boring with G4. It's prefect phone but android without root or unlocked bootloader ! This jail. No blocks ad no customs roms no etc... Some time i thinking i take the wrong choice ?
Sent from my LG-H818 using Tapatalk
yes...
i'm very frustrating with this phone because it's impossible to update to MM and root with locked bootloader .... :crying:
it's horrible ,i'm disapointed ... :crying:
A MM succesfuly flashed is better than LP ....with his auto-grenify optimisations ,privacyguard....etc..and have more battery life and more touchscreen responsive...etc...
Android 6 is a good update of 5 ...but near the same thing of base.
.but i need root .
And LG firmwares are very good compared to Samsung for example...
but for customs ,in the past with GB/JB/KK ,i loved them....but i don't like at all CM politics of development with "eternal" nightlies developments with theirs too much merged ,revert parts...and when when they fix things there are other(s) bug(s)...and recursings bugs....
It's a complete regession too, with his known photo/videos apps and others compared to stock for hights devices like G4/S6/XperiaZ ...etc...
And for the future : with MM and news bootloaders more and more securised (due to "bad" criminals hackers ) ,if manufacturers will decide to don't unlock theirs devices ===> it's the end of the story of all developments ...obscur future
Now ,it seem that Chainfire and others completely fail to root these news locked devices...total unsucces at this time.... and that feel bad omen.
Why does it need support? I run stock and all parts of my phone work just fine.
Zero issues. Works as LG/Google intended.
You guys are just trying too hard. Maybe just try using your smartphone as it was intended? Seriously some of you are over analysing this and spending too much effort on it.
Just relax. It's all good.
I think this is complaining on a very high level. Things appear to be working fine out of the box. I don't understand why you would complain about not enough "modding".
And maybe you should've checked the threads on the android forums before you bought the G4, whose development seems to be so important to you. So why you didn't do that in the first place?
I'd recommend doing a few searches and information gathering before you buy a ~500€ phone, if development is such a big thing for you

These days I will only flash a quality ROM, not just any old ROM simply because it exists, those days are behind me. If that's what people want then yes, they should have bought a Nexus device, as that's kind of it's main reason for being!
I will admit the bootloader situation is not good for a large proportion of users, and that may be the top reason why it isn't being taken up by many devs. Claiming it voids the warranty is misplaced as isn't that the case with every major manufacturer ? The exceptions being Nexus devices and cheap Chinese handsets (and good luck with warranty in that case anyway!)
Tbh if I want a phone that just works I would rather buy an iPhone.
If this is everything you need then YOU have bought the wrong phone.
Btw. whats wrong with the development?
There is an working offical CM13 Version with daylie updates. And even some modded CM Versions.
We have an outstanding offical CM Developer who is fixing bugs as soon as they appear.
And modded stock Roms.
LG offers an official bootloader unlock and will (as stated a lot in the forums) repair hardware failures regardless of it.
So grab your balls, unlock and enjoy.
I did and do not regret.
And blame LG for the devices that can't be unlocked but not the community or development.
I'm coming from S4 and believe me that was pure pain.
Btw. googy_anas joined the community so expect custom Kernels soon.

Hmm, well if that was indeed the case then i'd be particularly interested in doing a bootloader unlock and flashing CM13. Perhaps a dumb question, but how do LG know whether the bootloader has been unlocked? When i had the original 2013 Moto G, unlocking the bootloader produced this horrible warning screen at startup, is it something similar on the G4?

Yes, on bootloader it says:
Code:
---------------------------------------
Bootloader State: Bootloader Unlocked!
---------------------------------------
Overlayed on top left in terminal font
Yeh there is a message at boot on the upper left corner.
yes...it's sure that you have reason
This G4 is fantastic too ,yes...
For me ,i just want to root this MM ...
But for to unlock a bootloader ,it's a own choice of persons and we have nothing to say about that...
The real question is : what are LG laws about warranty exactly ? like root, the hardware is not affected by this warranty or the phone is considered as "lost" in case of problem ?

I think this is complaining on a very high level. Things appear to be working fine out of the box. I don't understand why you would complain about not enough "modding".
And maybe you should've checked the threads on the android forums before you bought the G4, whose development seems to be so important to you. So why you didn't do that in the first place?
I'd recommend doing a few searches and information gathering before you buy a ~500€ phone, if development is such a big thing for you

As @P650SE said I would have bought an iPhone if out of the box experience were my sole reason in buying a phone. I agree that it's somewhat my fault in not looking first at the forum before I purchased my G4 but I saw the thing and it just struck me as my soul mate. It's just feel that the phone is specially made just for you. I missed the old days when few phones would come out and the support for those phones were superb. I love my G4 no doubt but looking at Nexus 6P thread got me jealous , oh also if you'll looked at LG V10 thread same goes for the people there few support vs the 6P. I'm not a dev or modder my self, I'm a flash addict you can say so forgive me if I offended you. I assume to much buying a flagship from LG maybe a nexus for me after 2 years
i feel it comes from the fact that lg locked up them selves so hard that people who dont have the int version just wont work had for it.
this is were the lg g4 falls.
i dont understand why the lg g4 oem camera can not be moved as is to a cm based

No offense here, bro. Everything cool. I can somehow understand what you're talking about. Still I think that this phone is awesome as it is out of the box. Actually you don't need to mod it, but I'm a flashaholic myself and I have no doubts, that development is kinda lame compared to other devices.
But you can't compare it to a Nexus 6P or 5X, since these are original android phones and, with that in mind, they surely have the most developers and most development out there.
It's like comparing the development of a VW Golf to a Mercedes Benz (Not talking about the expense, but about interested people, market shares etc.) and, not at least, developing for an original android phone might be easier and more worthy for developers (I'm not a developer myself, just guessing).
So don't be dissapointed. I think what's going on in the G4 threads is still enough for any person who likes to mod.
At least for h815 version. If you don't have the international model, ok, you're f**ked
i think that we all have found this "love" ...

The same reason why most LG apps or apps from other manufacturers cannot be easyly ported. They are locked into the framework.
Afaik codeworkx said that it has to be reverse engineered which he tryed but its impossible for him to do that.
Thats why he modded the open camera instead.
We could start a bounty maybe it will attrackt some people who can do that.
it's completely useless to tweak and search to "optimise" phones with all olds tricks (external build.prop ,zip and others...) ,it's persistent in the mind of some peoples..
it was true at the begining with E/F/GB/JB systems but now the modern android versions really already have best evolutions inside....and phones are very very powerful.
I have tried things with KK but i NEVER see REAL difference ...(placebo effects ? )but in some cases it's the opposite (laggs, drains, buggs...)
Now for "geeks" like ours ,,some people continue to be fan of customs (for the style)....and others (more and more peoples in this case ! ) just want to root ...and some of these ones for xposed .
And we all represent a very big minority of phones users because generaly the consumers but a devise and normaly "just" use it without changes...a phone correctly do calls, sms ,web ,social , some games ...without all that .

Really considering the Note 4 Pro, is this Global rom compatible with the model in the link below?
I think that's the cheapest I can find the pro model for, been debating between the Note 3 Pro, which is slight cheaper and also still looks like a great handset but I like the build and look of the note 4 better. How do you find the camera performance in the latest update? I've seen a couple of reviews where the camera was rated quite poorly? It's not a deal breaker for me as long as its usable which it appears to be.

Hey,
yes this ROM is for the phone you linked. Right now there is only the Redmi Note 4, the "pro" was given to it by the shop.
Don't buy from tinydeal! Stay away from tinydeal!
For price check use kimovil: kimovil xiaomi-redmi-note-4-3gb-32gb
Geekbuying has the 32GB right now on a sale, in general the price for it is around 210$ on all shops.
When the phone isn't on sale then Gearbest is the cheapest (as kimovil proves), link here: Gearbest Redmi Note 4 - 32GB
... so tinydeal is more expensive and not trust worthy, please stay away from it.
Concerning the camera, later next week (probably on the weekend) I will do a low light camera comparison between Mi5, Moto G4 Plus and the Redmi Note 4, have a look at it and judge. (I don't like to share opinions, it's best if people can judge themselves.)

Thanks I've bought previously from tiny deal and the phone was fine although it had potential spy ware on it, which was removed with the flash of firmware. I'll check out the other links though thanks.
I thought that was the 'pro' version as it's the 64gb model? Thanks again I'll look for your further review.

Looked at the link. What happened is Tinydeals are using wordplay to label it as "Pro". Just because they are pre installing the Global Rom and its the best hardware configuration available, 3gb of Ram/64gb of storage.
It is however not the Pro version that is rumored and likely to be released in a few months that will feature a Snapdragon processor (likely 652), come factory built with the Global Rom and different Radio Band support (including US lte bands like 2/4).
The other difference is likely going to be battery life and the fact that the real Pro version will be built for Global market and thus get long-term Global Rom official support.
Arguably the biggest difference (as seen between the MTK and SD Redmi Note 3) is software. The SD version has source code released which means custom roms. Also the SD version wont be stuck on MM and likely to be updated to pass Nougat 1 way or another.

Ah yes I see now, hence why people are requesting a pro model featuring a sd processor.
I still might need to get it now as I would be selling my current handset to raise some funds for something else. I'm not bothered by custom rom support if I'm honest, though it is nice to fall back on if xiaomi don't come through with the updates. That's why I'm half considering the redmi note 3 pro, as it seems to tick a lot of boxes.
I've currently got a galaxy S7 which is very good but not perfect (though pretty close). Pretty much nothing will touch it in the camera department, but I find the fingerprint sensor just OK, it fails to match all the time which is annoying and I think xiaomis implementation is better (both placement and tech wise). The audio is also a bit lacking on the s7, it's fine on the loud speaker (although it's a bit lower due to waterproofing). Audio also isn't that great over ear or head phones. Other than that most things are very good, battery isn't bad but again it's even better with xiaomis 4000mah battery.

Ah well the Samsung Galaxy S7 is nice and excel in the hardware department across the board. Only topped by the HTC 10 in certain areas. S7 definitely is the best back camera on the market. However its Software side is a huge shortcoming. It has an expiration date and performance drops in about half a year. It's like having a 4k 3D Smart 60" TV and being able to only watch VHS on it.
The Redmi Note 3 Pro has better battery life, fingerprint scanner, Audio customization but not to be confused with power. It's headphone jack is weaker than most. The loudspeaker placement or volume isn't the best either. But the sound has much better control because Viper4Android is easy to install. Also the battery is better but not as big of a gap as it used to now on Miui 8 Marshmallow. Battery efficiency lowered from Miui 7 Lollipop.
Day to day use, it performs like a beast. No force closes, hiccups or freezing. Definitely the best phone available in the $100 - $350 bracket.

Hey, you need the sp flash tools and drivers to make it work. Did you fix it so far? Do you still need help?

U probably need to unlock the bootloader first. I suppose it's to deter people from buying the cheaper China version and just installing the global rom on it.

Nah, fastboot flash on MTK shall work anyway, doesn't matter if the boot-loader is locked or unlocked.

Edit: There is no global version of any Xiaomi phone. Doesn't matter if it's "pro" or non "pro". Some phones are made for e.g. India as in India Xiaomi can't sell MTK powered phones....

To be more precise: What exactly did you do in fastboot. What tools have you used. What drivers have you installed. What OS do you have on your PC. ... What did not work, what was the error message.
"It doesn't work" is never a valid problem description.
I bought this damn phone because of the dev agreement between XDA and Hahahauwei. Never again will I trust this manufacturer. Everything is in the dark. No update posts. Dev is idle because of this. Flagship killer? Nah, flagship sinker.

Wysłane z mojego FRD-L09 przy użyciu Tapatalka
a long back ago,I lost my hopes , you realised it lately bro , i will never trust HONOR .
Bought this phone 2 weeks back for a wicked discount only to find the development community at a standstill. This experience has taught me that if the processor is not from Qualcomm, no matter how much the manufacturer guaruntees updates, you can't trust them. I do think the Oreo update will come though, perhaps early 2018 or something, but the dev community is very stagnant.
I've had more than my share of phones and one thing I've discovered is you can't trust any phone manufacturer. I can't speak for Iphones because I don't do and never will do Crapple.
What is it about getting Oreo ?
The phone performance on stock it's great ... Need updates the pixels are the one to buy now ... What do we expect for a 250 dls phone ?

I cant understand the need of newer software and updates from many people here. What exactly is you need so much and cant live without, from Android O?
Ok a better battery performance would be nice, but what else? I have a midrange phone that works just fine, the EMUI i find very nice, the camera is good for the money i paid.
Phones are mainly communication tools, they are made to do certain jobs and this one does em very well.
About the developer issue in the first post, yes its a pitty, there could be some roms with extra features and improvements which could come handy but...
Knives are made for us to cut things, not to sharpen them all the time.
Ps: i rooted my previus phone and put a custom rom and kernel too.
But this was because i was not satisfied with its functions. And lost a lot of time with updating/testing/waiting for bug fixes till it worked.
Then CM closed, Lineage came, phone got a mess, lost a key feature i needed, so i returned back to stock and sold the phone.
Even if there are custom roms on this one, i will keep it stock, because IT WORKS FINE for me.

That is because of the lack of stable ROMs. If good ROMs were available, many people would switch to those, because most people don't like EMUI or want to have the latest software

Even if there are custom roms on this one, i will keep it stock, because IT WORKS FINE for me.

We need oreo because the future apps will have updates only for oreo in the near future.
Emui 8.0 must be on almost all huawei phones that already have Emui 5.0/5.1 because it provides a better and a stable software. Also it has some nice features like Substranium support (which i consider it very usedfull.
I understand what you mean, but having a devide with outdated android and outdated security is just useless, because you will end up having your device vulnerable to viruses/hacks.

P9 lite 2016 users are still waiting for EMUI 5.1 or 8.0
Even honor 5x users are still waiting for EMUI 5.0
And even Honor 8/8 pro users are waiting for 8.0
Make a petition already. The world must hear our voices

Software is 100% stable at the moment on FRD L-09. Better software? What for example?

Outdated? Anroid 5 still running on many devices and doing the job, we have 7 at the moment.
Security, i will agree with you, if you make money transfers via phone its an issue. Otherways, if you dont install from unknown sources i see no big threat, never had a phone-virus.
No offense, but all i understand from all those "we want oreo, this and that" posts is "give us new toys to play"
Sure its fun, but if i like to program stuff i would get a Raspbery Pi, its much more fun.
PS. I would wait till January 2018 to see what Huawei will do. I think after updating the new models they will again give some update for Honor 8 too.
Dont think they want to lose old customers after such a good selling year.
This have nothing to do with personal preferences but with brand credibility. Once one commercial promise is broken and people accept it (keeping quiet and/or buying more from Honor/Huawei), it sets the precedent.
This year is software updates, next year they can say they offer the first screen replacement for free. Or all their phones are backdoor-access-free. Or battery usage will be optimised in the future.
It's not that promise, it's the promise itself.
Get that in your skulls.

True. But if they don't maintain a phone that they promised 24 months of updates (2 os updates and the rest are for security, performance, battery and stability).
I know huawei very well and i enjoy their hard work ever since i moved from samsung (because their os is unstable and they stopped providing updates to flagshits), but if they promised os updates, they stick with it.
Still if they don't provide updates for a phone that's at least 1 year old , then for what reason we buy them if they don't get anymore support?

I agree too. I moved from samsung too. But i also expect them to just give an update with security updates only, they want to sell new phones like all brands.
Time will show...
But still its the best midrange phone i ever had.
They didn't break the promise regarding software updates.
My honor 8 FRD-L04 gets an update every 3 month.
Even if they don't deliver oreo but push security updates, the promise is not broken.

True.
But emui 8.0 will bring fantastic battery and performance (due to oreo optimisations.) That's why we need it.
