[Q] I'm using a Octa-Core Galaxy S4, ramdonly heats up and Battery Drain from "Media"
Hi, im currently using the galaxy sy i9500, and it was great for a first few days. Then started around 3 days ago, BAtrery started draining very fast, and my phone would randomly heats up, i can feel it from my pocket. And my bettery would go from 70% to like 50% in and hour without doing anything with it. i Disabled all the features, air view, smart scorll etc etc. I even enable the power saver mode which did not help at all. Anyone have an idea on whats going on? (see pics)
You are not the only one experiencing such problems.
1st of all make sure you have updated to latest software version. Then try to disable from the app manager: Samsung push, samsung apps along with google music play service (media has been draining your battery the most)
Are you also experiencing lag and difficult camera access?
If none of those worked maybe try to do a factory data reset or try flashing a stock firmware via ODIN.

go to developer option and turn off windows animation
then in developer option > apps section > check don't keep activities
if it doesn't help u then try to flash another firmware or kernel
:good:

Most people seem to have the over heating problem when there is a corrupt file on the sd card. Try removing the card and seeing if that helps you.

i don't think so,it plays the bootsound and also the sound works properly for a minute, then it disappears
No One had this problem?
yes, me too.
Freeze or restart on playing any sound.
I'm on stock lollipop rom I9505
It's OK for a minute after restart, but no more than the minute
Did you flash any custom rom before?
Tap thanks instead of writing it. Guess what, it's easier!! ??

i have flashed a custom ROM only after this problem, but nothing change.I went to a china fix store and they said its the motherboard...can this be true?
Try connecting your earphones to the output jack, if it works than try to change the kernel. If still broken than I'd guess it's hardware problem, but probably not the moderboard ( correct me if wrong )

with earphones still no sound...i think its hardware problem
I have the exact same problem from 15 days ago mate, i ll add to that : the phone overheats under the flash led section as soon as it starts, searching i found some talks about faulty Audio IC chip located there. I did not find a solution, some repairing shops told me they wont even open it here since they know about it, and said it's not repairable...
Now phone even reboots itself, you ll have that too after some days i guess...
Its really annoying since its a replacement for a faulty hardware s3 unit...eMMc chip died on me.
If you find something to fix it let me know please.
I serrendered.
PS : and videos wont play anmore too, right?
I don't think it's about hardware, because my freeze a little on loading audio stuff and it's sometimes OK.
I have tried two roms but no chance.
Is there any link of some stock kernel to flash via odin?
well i think we have to surrender
Try stock and check in accessibility ..if all sounds are off ..

I haven't seen smart pause.. Smart stay and everything else I checked out and it's not causing the problem. I'm hoping it's not a hardware a problem. I'm going to reflash a different rom and see where it gets me.
This also started happening to me after last software update. Dont knownof its the app update or the phone os marshmellow update...

Hmm.. Not sure. All I wanna do is try to reflash rom but that takes a lot of backing up just when everything else is perfect.
Yea thats true. My gallery just started acting up too where half my pics appear to be half grayed out by a vertical bar.
Considering a reflash but to lazy to back up and ensure everything is backed up. Dont wanna miss nothing.

I had the possibly similar issue

Type of pause?
How long is pause?
Is it clipping?
Is it at a high volume?
Do you have any type of mono or Bluetooth apps installed?
Are you using WIFI or mobile connection for streaning?
Does it occur at certain locations or everywhere?
*Do you use OK GOOGLE or any similar Voice activated apps?
*Check your NOTIFICATIONS! Try changing SOUND NOTIFICATIONS to VIBRATE for all apps by going into sounds & notif in settings.. Change MODE to vibrate.
*Also try playing in AIRPLANE mode & do not disturb
*Does it occur when streaming to a tv or media device?
With these questions we can rule out various "connectivity" issues or interference as WELL as apps fighting for control over speaker or microphone, for notifications etc. As there are many
You should find the cause as with almost all media streaming apps most have options to go into a do not disturb mode as other apps utilize the same reaources resulting in conflicts like you described! After changing to VIBRATE notification mode and/or AIRPLANE mode, it becomes just a matter of narrowing down offending app.. Until then it will work at least!
HOPE THIS HELPS! There r days I need help! too
I had same problem and ı thought this problem can be related to an app ı installed. And it was. When i uninstalled Sputnik news. My problem had gone. If u have it, uninstal. If u dont have, may be one of other app causes. Try uninstalling each app, and find the app causes this problem

Do you have bluetooth enabled? I have an issue that I've seemed to track down to the bluetooth that after connecting and then disconnecting my alert sounds will play very softly. A safe boot will fix it but annoying what I have to reset when I do that.

Yes, I use Bluetooth, but I'm thinking that isn't the problem, a did everything I can, format the SD, format the SD in the PC, format the SD in another phone, factory reset, reboot, disable Play Music, shut down my Bluetooth, everything, and the problem still, sometimes it's fix alone for a limited time, and then came back... Only sound I get is streaming videos and the call Ringtone...

Well, that's what I've narrowed the problem down on my phone to. If I leave bluetooth off, the issue doesn't happen. But I need bluetooth so I leave it on. All I can figure is that there is a bug with the bluetooth software when it interacts with the alert volume when connecting and disconnecting.

Try BrokenOS... It's MM but rock solid, not on XDA, Google it. Best battery life I had other than stock, if you don't like the default dark theme, change to light theme

Waouuuuuuu....
Never seen that before.
Backup, flash new firmware and reboot.
If problem still present, it's a material problem.
Good luck mate

Seems to be a standard problem. I have it too.
Internet forums are full of this problem.
Buy another phone than Samsung.

I've seeb it alot actually. I mean the wake up problem. But noone seems to fix it yet. If anyone did please tell me
Has anyone test this with older Android 5?
The "Weird" Screen in Low Brightness is AMOLED Burn-in due to intensive use, My S5 Have this problem too.
Try changing the HW overlay / Force GPU rendering in developer options, others have said that works for them, it seemed to for me also but only temporarily. I have had to stop using auto brightness.
Device not waking up is very irritating, even double tap the screen to wake has the same problem, doesn't seem to be the buttons themselves. If you have a custom rom or other way to set double pressing the power button to launch the camera it works as a workaround for me.
Thank you for all the answers guys.

Just changed:
Force GPU rendering : on
Disable hardware overlays: on
edit1:it's better than before. I will feedback later. Also gonna try that camera trick
edit2: It's same again. Tried Home2 Shortcut the get the camera trick. It also didn't work because i want my phone to be locked and it doesn't work on locked status
Any other suggestions guys?
