Ultra Power Saver Mode already exists on S4 Mini - Galaxy S 4 Mini General

Hi guys, recently I downloaded Google gesture search app, it wasn't great but I noticed a strange thing when I entered U it showed an ultra power saver mode setting. When I opened it, it was looking like a primitive form of S5's one. But when I turned it on it didn't worked. Can someone please research on this as I am by no means an expert. I joined XDA just for this. But I look forward into learning development.

I think what you found is a bug. If I'm not mistaken the ultra power saver mode is something hardware related, so it can only be used on s5, which has the right hardware to do so.

Apparently there`s something called "Google" , you might want to google it to see what google can do .

Simulate hardware keys by an Android app?

Hi,
is there a known Android app which can simulate the hardware keys (Phone, Home, Menu, End, Search, Back)?
That would be fantastic!
Thanks!
I know full keyboard does the volume keys. Don't know about the rest.
Me too!
I too would love to know if there was an application like this anywhere. With the recent news of the Pandigital Novel being hacked up, the lack of hardware buttons is the only thing stopping this from being a really decent, cheap Android tablet, and an app like this could solve it, especially if it was accessible from the notification bar.
Hi iam from Germany and looking for this also. However i saw a lot of Videos of Chinapads which hat the buttons in the bar wheres the time etc. I asked on German pages but nobody replied. Mayby someones here with a tablet who could extract the. Apk?

Can you give a link to these videos?
While this is not exactly what I was speaking of, this would be a great thing to have instead, something like the Archos android tablet has, as shown in this link: http://stuff.tv/csfiles/blogs/cool/Archos5-5.jpg
Yep Ive got a pandigital too. the arcohs type bar would be great. is the arcohos android?
something like this
A idee would be to take the program tasker see : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717303. When you have gestures you can combine it with hardwarebuttons how you like. But the developer say there is no way to get the hardware buttons.
i want to have a gesture for the back button.

Power control widget turned my screen off permanently.

what should i do? haha

Holy sh##, I wonder if thats what happened to mine then.... I had it for 3 hours, installed extended controls on it, turned the brightness all the way down and it died. Battery pull would get me the samsung screen but it would stop after the galaxy animation. I did a factory reset, still did it.
Is that about the same?
I figured that I just had a bad unit so I took it back to the store.
Edit. Just did a little research and we are not the only two this has happened to...not seeing a fix though...
If you have cwm installed or debug enabled you should just adb to your device and delete the offending widget app.

man, that sucks.
Happened to me too... If only we had the notification brightness slider the vibrant has. I had to take miner back too... Didn't know of cwm and I was smart enough to turn debugging mode off so no adb for me.

It persisted after a factory reset on mine. Offending app was all gone... Will be interesting to see if the op can get his working by doing that. Personally I just thought I had a bad phone.
thanks for the help guys put i adb pulled and it solved my problem ... i was freaking for a second

Awesome. Wonder why my factory reset didn't fix mine... Weird.
Bigger question... What do the application developers need to change too keep this from happening?
well the truth in my case is i downloaded a version off mediafire to see if i liked it before i donated and the thing was the version i downloaded had an error that to this day has been corrected. so if i wouldve just been legit from the beginning it wouldnt of happened
I always keep adb on after this lesson...

Extended trial eh? looked at extended controls change log, none on theirs yet. Guess I'll try power widget instead.
I was a victim of this as well with the extended controls widget. I emailed them and they didn't seem overly concerned, though to be fair there is a language barrier. I would have expected profuse apologies and a refund, at the very least.
I use the one called "Backlight!" but when I installed and saw the default value levels of 0,50,150,255 and saw a zero that instantly threw up a red flag. Before using widget I just edited the custom brightness levels to 34,65,103 which translates to 13%,25%,45%. Are there other devices where you could assign the toggle to a hard button? That's the only way I can see having a 0 default level on a device.
good day.
I submitted a ticket to the extended controls group and they just updated it after fixing the issue... Said it is now fixed and will be in the next release.
this has been posted in the forum, the phone still works, the display is just completely blacked out. 0% apparently meant different for the Samsung Fascinate phones than other Android phones. Power Control widget had updated their log a few days ago saying this was resolved in the last update here:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/power-control-plus-(widget)/com.siriusapplications.eclairwidgets
good thing the brand new version that i tried to pay for still blacked out my screen
Thank God I found this thread! Same here!! Power Strip. Was so depressed when I noticed I couldnt wake my screen back up after boot and locking it! Phew.... AWESOME PHONE!
Yea this happened to me as well and I didn't have de bugging on to use adb. Took it to the store they were like "we have never seem this happen before...sorry sure have this new one!" LoL
Sent from my rooted 1.2 voodoo Fascinate
Mine did it from a Ringer Profile app. I was trying to get my Fascinate to act more like a Blackberry in regards to notifications and such. All seemed well until I re3booted the phone. I went through 2 phones from this. The app did have functions for setting screen brightness for different profiles. Since I got that one solved, the phone's been great!

Just a question?

hi to all, it's my first time to be here! me and a friend of mine have joined a small competition that require for participating -of cours- to develop an android app! also we are a newbies in java developement and it's our first experience in android world, so my question is: is there a java or linux or c++ code that can power on an android device at a specific time? I googled a lot of time and i didn't got an answer. Please any suggestion or help? And sorry foy my bad english.
No definitely not!*
Because, you're app is only running if android has booted, so there is now way for your app.
The build-in Clock-App can't do it, too!
The only think you can do is, to unlock a booted phone.
Regards
-----
*There could maybe a way, for a specific phone, which has the hardware, which is needed and a SDK for developers for that hardware. But I don't know anyone.
Thanks for the replay. You speaked about the build-in clock app can't do it? it's indeed a reality! But why? unlike the android phone, when you set the alarm clock app in a Nokia phone and you shutdown the device.. the app is able to power on and boot the os!! So why it's not possible on android! is it something related to android architectur (layers)? maybe the hardware? can someone give me an explanation please.
Yes, I suppose you'll need specific hardware support. If the phone is really off, there needs to be some kind of timer that is still running, which can turn the phone on, so it can boot again, and then run some app for the alarm or whatnot.
Apparently Blackberry phones support it too, perhaps others as well, but it's not a common feature on Android phones.
Thanks you for the info.

there are many apps available on play store search and get it all working ....
Have a nice day
I dont know how to but its possible in Android because if you got to Settings --> Accessibility --> There is an option to turn on and off the device... So there must be a turn around for the same...
I also have a similar kind of Idea for my next app but dont know how to run my app when the phone is off or how to switch it on...
Maybe in rooted devices...Please let me know if you get anything similar.
Thanks

[Q] Popups GPS & Offline

Hello,
i have two questions, may some of you knows an answer ...(Phone G900F/root/Omega v3.0)
Both are about the popups that will be shown using the fast Buttons, like 'Wifi'/"Bluetooth"/"GPS"/"Offline" etc.
(hope my low level english will be excused)
If i use the button for "GPS" always the 'Google'-question appears ... does not matter if i have chosen just only GPS or locating with WiFi.
Does someone know how to turn off that confirmation question?
The other interaction that i really do not like is ... turning on the offline mode ... turning off the offline mode ...,
i always have to confirm that i really want that ... does someone know any solution to turn that questions off?
thank you very much for reading
thank you very much for answering if you knew a solution
best regards
The confirmation popup is rather annoying actually.
If you leave your location settings on high accuracy, it drains battery. If you leave it to power saver, GPS chip is disabled. If you turn it off, Google Now doesn't work. Seriously, which potato farmer programmed this?
I consider this to be one of the worst changes implemented. Previous Samsung phones such as the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3 had an actual "GPS" toggle in the drop down menu instead of this poorly crafted "location" toggle.
Sometimes I slightly regret switching from Note 3 to S5. Just a slight bit.
Oh well, the G3 is on the horizon

Use xposed framework plus the Modul disable Google network location consent. For the second thing maybe Wanam xposed module got an option for it.

Well, Hi!
I agree to your first statement even if i can follow the idea behind the programming, if i take the position of 'go.ogle' but even the main idea for the user is not that bad, it would have been a great choice to let the user chose which combination they want, like a single GPS-toggle. Or the combination. I was just lucky with that GPS-toggle option on my S3.
Like it is, it is a worst change. Agreed!
Some guys should get in contact with ROM cooking experts if there could be some coding solution.
Until yet i can't post in the developer section. So i have to stay calm.
Thank you for your point of view, so knowing i am not alone ...

I think it isnt that smooth , at least compared to pie
I tried to use Deuce's flash, that didn't work. I tried to root it using Canary Magisk. That didn't work.

No Q root via Magisk until major rewrite it seems.
https://twitter.com/topjohnwu/status/1105947979679191041
There are more tweets after that explaining why and the complexities of the new Q partition layout.
Thanks! I was rushing before work. I figured I'd give it a shot. I wasn't totally surprised it ended in failure.

Apparently you gotta use ADB to enable it. There's a recent article regarding it.

I cant upload photos , dont know why , it takes me to main xda page when i close the window , but in dev options ( in settings) the last section lets you choose font type (2 available ) , main colour of the ui and icon type( 4 available )
I cant tell if they were there before
Trying to upload the screenshot i took , i found that the app to choose files is renewed , for better

It's working for me, but it appears to need more forceful gestures than previously. But this might be because I fitted a new screen protector yesterday!
In reading the twitter feed by Magisk dev John Wu, it may come sooner than expected, his last couple of tweets made it seem like he had narrowed the problem down a bit. Also, another user hinted at a possibility of getting it working via an alternate method, but I haven't seen anything else.
But since this thread is about Q, let me say this:
1) I already had dark mode on in Pie.
2) I had root via Magisk, but completely uninstalled it (without locking the bootloader though), so no FDR needed.
3) First attempt at taking the OTA left me in a weird partial (stock) recovery where it said that the OTA could not be applied (I'm paraphrasing), and had the options to try again or FDR. I hit try again and it rebooted back to the same place - I hit try again a second time and et voila! it rebooted to Android and I have Q now on my Taimen. No idea why that happened, and I haven't performed any checks to see if it maybe flipped to the other slot or something (which I highly doubt, as it was extremely quick from when I pressed the try again to when it rebooted and started booting Android Q).
So, first thoughts:
The Google Feed now has a bit of translucency - pretty cool!
Settings is now dark mode
Notifications are also dark, double yay!
Night light is working better - the blue accents in settings, etc now also dull, the way they should.
Redesigned Files app - looks nice! Those items at the top are selectable, individually or in groups.
I've started an album at my GPHotos with screenshots I've taken thus far. See https://photos.app.goo.gl/pdbTnXZNYpQ3xBFS6
It's 1:30 AM now. I'm off to bed.
I feel the fingerprint sensor works very fast and very accurate. Can anyone please conform.

I can confirm this. I'm using Pixel 2 XL and Pixel XL and after update to Q beta I can feel fingerprint sensor works faster on both devices. even I can feel so much faster response on Pixel XL
Can anyone confirm that edit button on screenshot notification is broken for you too ?
