Hi,
First off all, sorry for my bad english.
(This is also the first time i post something on XDA)
I've recently (a month ago) buyed a Samsung galaxy s4 GT-I9505. It is a very good phone but when a android phone is rooted it's even better.
So i was searching the web for rooting the S4 and i came out with Towelroot. With this i was able to root my phone.
And of course i was messing around with the root capability's and i've started to uninstall system apps with "System app remover (ROOT)".
And i it did go very well but i want to replace the gallery app with another gallery app so i've downloaded another gallery app.
And i deleted the original system gallery app. And that messed things up. For the one who knows and who don't knows the gallery app manage also the lockscreen wallapaper. i've searched for for this problem a whole day and i found nothing but really nothing.
So i hope someone can help me.
So for short i have deleted Gallery, Camera, Music, Music share
Is there a way to get these apps back (restore from the uninstall app doesn't work) ?
If Yes, how ?
If No, is there another way to change the stock lockscreen wallpaper ?

Yeah i think that is the best idea.
I've also read that if you uninstall a system app and do a complete factory reset the deleted apps won't come back.
I think i am gonna try like you said reflashing my rom.
Thanks !

no the apps won't come back on this way. But flashing a firmware isn't much work and that's the only thing you can do now. Good luck

I have one more question i am completly new to samsung so i've read a lot about Samsung Knox and some websites said Knox could be triggerd if you do something that samsung doesn't like. Does reflashing the rom will trigger Knox or am i completly wrong ?

Why don't you use LBE Privacy Guard? With it you can determine for every single app what it's allowed to do. It's free and downloadable.on Google Play.

Lbe has security hole when booting up. Plus doesnt work always. Had instances where something blocked got throught. Pdroid is better but you need to build deodexed rom and build own patch.
What did you install that triggered that permission request?

from the official topic with the LPY room
From the pics I can see that these are all Samsung and Google apps ,most of them should have access without even asking you ,so I guess it's either a bug or maybe a virus?
Anyway I think you can safely give these apps permission seeing they are all system apps.

as I said ,all of them are system apps ,it's just weird that they should ask for permission .
usually if a system appis asking for permission then it has been modified in some way, like modified google maps .
are you sure it is fully stock? if yes then it could be just a bug maybe?
you could probably solve this by wiping ,but since you are on LPY this has the potential of being lethal to your phone.
my advice is allow them access ,I doubt any harm will come of it.
Yeah those seem to be system app but why on earth LCD test and other apps would want to access your google account?
I suggest flash safe kernel wipe data then re-flash ICS.
Or downgrade to GB wipe data then upgrade to ICS.

For starters, the OTA applies to a released ICS firmware - which is very significant when you consider that the "official" OTA release will have to apply to existing ICS devices.

is it possible to install this OTA over DLH6(sys/kernel/modem)? someone mentioned in another DLH7 topic that we can edit updater-script then install OTA. But is this enough to install OTA over DLH6?

Why risk it?
Here's how I'd handle it (if I wanted to preserve anything)
Flash CWM recovery and do a backup with that.
Do a full backup with titanium backup of all system apps, user apps, and data.
Full wipe
ODIN back to LG8 (including the factory recovery)
Full wipe again (just to be paranoid)
copy the OTA to the device and install it with the factory recovery
Full wipe again (I really am paranoid)
Do a basic set up with the new OTA to make sure all the major things work...
Root the install
Then, start restoring things with titanium backup...
---
If something goes wrong, you can always re-install the CWM recovery and restore your backup from there.
Tried the latest LH7 leak. Here are my opinion.
Just hate the new settings menu.
They totally 're-did the my files app. It totally sucks now.. kinda feels like your using Samsung's BadaOS.
No FC's, totally fast.
Camera is a little unstable. After you take a photo it'll show a black screen sometimes.
No graphical glitches so far.
S-voice is back.
S-NOTE removed and S-memo added again.
Overall feels a little louder (not as loud as the LH4).

I just saw this security app called KNOX on Samsung's site here below and I was wondering if its there or added by default.
I have the GTi9505 S4 version model.
http://www.samsung.com/global/busin...ne/GT-I9505ZNAAMN-features#skipNaviGalaxy4_01
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/mobile/solution/security/samsung-knox
And on the S4 wood-looking box it has the SAFE symbol on it.
Is this ONLY stricly for Government and Enterprise or is available for personal use as well?
On the video below, it does show the KNOX app icon. And I cannot locate it on my phone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_jTit_RCdI
Thanks!
The App is in system settings but i can't manage to run it, but I am able to install it. The interesting thing is that even after install the app isn't showing in App drawer...
Can you please post a print screen? Please?
I would like to see it. Or try it.
I would very much appreciate it.
Went to APP directory and I cannot find this KNOX security APP. Pls help me.

Ahhhhh I got it!!!!!
Found it.
So in order for KNOX to work to set some security standards like setting max. password age and etc....which one of the APK files should I run to install it? Theres 3 APK files on there.
I would also guess, that ones needs a Centralized Mobile Management KNOX Security server in order to run this properly.
Thanks for taking your time with the printscreens.

Use this at your own risk. This is a Chinese app which will root your phone, but may also send your data to China! On the surface it doesn't seem malicious, but use caution.

From what i read in other threads I'm led to believe this is a temporary root, and will disappear upon reboot. It also installs kinguser, not superuser, and superuser cant be installed to replace it.
Also, this was from the Dev thread directly

I think this guy should have noted in this video it only works on 4.4.4 kit Kat and that when you reboot you will lose root sometimes you don't even have to manually reboot it will just shut down randomly and root is gone ....and for Lollipop it only gets to 51% and auto shuts down I would just wait for the devs to just put something awesome together I tried it yesterday and it was a headache trying to not reboot but when it randomly shut down on its own several times I was done with it ...jmo!!

no. nothing permanent about kingroot. every reboot it is gone.
tried on Verizon Note4 and when I opened the app, it just show me the envelope and didn't give me the lock like in the video. So it's not working for me.
I tried this kingroot last night, say for like 5/10 min til I got tired of waiting and then I Uninstalled the shop and nothing had occurred. But I have no bank or sensitive info on device, nothing financial or even remotely sensitive info... so was worth it to try.
But no go and no root. And I wad ready as when I upgraded to lollipop and set up phone, play store was reinstalling apps from my note 3, that I switch back and forth between, installed supersu and titanium (though I've no root on 4 obviously! ) I was ready to jump into titanium and start Uninstaller Bloat if
I got proof of root thru supersu granting it, or whatever the kingroot Su access is. .. either way I wad ready though. ...
No go. .. so I leave it at that till someone comes up with a surefire way too do this.
Reading up on multisystem now... looks interesting! Since no more safestrap..... multisystem looks the way next forward, though a tad bit complicated. It'll work eventually!

PE1 effed up my note 4 bad I am hoping this fixes it. texting and using multiple apps caused freezing even after hard wipe re-install on stock rom it was some major BS....

Is root at least working on it? I couldn't get root working on it and was stuck on the boot screen so I restored my phones backup (PE1). Guess I need to wait till root and xposed is working before I take the update again.

I had PE1 running on Chainfires autoroot it was fine. but the stock rom was effed still so i was in wait an see mode or I was going to flash to a different rom but I needed something stable since I used the phone for work...
PE2 is ok so far have yet to try root. I think I will attempt after work though.
Pe2 roots fine if you dont care about knox. Xposed installs. No modules work

curious on how you guys updated? did you just unroot and take the ota or tar?
Edit: well i decided to use the Odin tar method, and its just an update not a full system I lost root but i was able to get it back and reinstall TWRP and the latest su I use cf-autoroot latest for root, i didnt lose anything but backup just incase.
Hmmm seems like the next monthly update is overdue
i have strange issue, i'm not sure it's from last update, when i back to pe2 stock with odin and then install twrp, after i installed many custom roms i had an issue never happen before, with every custom rom when someone call me mu N4 don't ring and answer automaticly, and those roms works before without this problem, any idea???

Happened to my phone too it actually got bricked from PE1. I think they did something fishy to root users to fry their phones.

yea well I went to sprint with my phone to see what the guy would say he saw knox tripped didnt doing anything to fix it said Samsung will not fix whats wrong with the phone even if I had insurance on the line (which I added when my phone acted up to see if they would fix it... there is a way to add it if you had not previously had it...)
Anyways the guy was cool about it told me to go find a clean phone with a cracked screen and he'd swap the board out for me. He also told me that insurance was giving out Note 5's for the broken 4's for just the deductible. So the cost of a broken 4 was not working out I just got a new note 5 instead .... Huge pain in the a$$.
Note 5 sucks cause it does not have expandable memory or removable battery..
I want to root my 5 but I dont want to trip knox the guy at sprint mentioned to me custom recovery images do not trip the knox if I do it in the smart switch app. have yet to look for rooted recovery roms tho.
