I just saw this security app called KNOX on Samsung's site here below and I was wondering if its there or added by default.
I have the GTi9505 S4 version model.
http://www.samsung.com/global/busin...ne/GT-I9505ZNAAMN-features#skipNaviGalaxy4_01
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/mobile/solution/security/samsung-knox
And on the S4 wood-looking box it has the SAFE symbol on it.
Is this ONLY stricly for Government and Enterprise or is available for personal use as well?
On the video below, it does show the KNOX app icon. And I cannot locate it on my phone.

Thanks!
The App is in system settings but i can't manage to run it, but I am able to install it. The interesting thing is that even after install the app isn't showing in App drawer...
Can you please post a print screen? Please?
I would like to see it. Or try it.
I would very much appreciate it.
Went to APP directory and I cannot find this KNOX security APP. Pls help me.

here are some screens. knox is preinstalled, but it's region and operator enabled.

Ahhhhh I got it!!!!!
Found it.
So in order for KNOX to work to set some security standards like setting max. password age and etc....which one of the APK files should I run to install it? Theres 3 APK files on there.
I would also guess, that ones needs a Centralized Mobile Management KNOX Security server in order to run this properly.
Thanks for taking your time with the printscreens.

After clicking on all of those APK KNOX files, I was aksed DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL and I got an error showing that APPLICATION NOT INSTALLED.
I would really wish to have this application running to keep my personal and business data separate from each other.
How can I install KNOX on my phone like the one showing on this videos?

Has anyone been able to figure this out?
I would really like to stop carrying two devices, but my company's IT won't do anything to help me with the "separation of church and state." I am wondering if this option works for an individual.
Thanks!
I know I am bumping, but I saw there 3 bumps and no answer...
I am also trying to understand this, from what I know is:
Lnox is coming also on the Motherboard, no? I mean it has a software side.... so maybe that's why you cannot install just an aps etc
I am not sure, hopefully someone can make this clear.
Thanks

Hi,
I have a new s4 with KitKat, Knox is showing in app menu and when I click on it it asks if I want to install. On the downloading section when flashing however it is listed. I'm worried if I root, will it root or screw the phone? Will it move the Knox counter voiding warranty?

Why don't you use LBE Privacy Guard? With it you can determine for every single app what it's allowed to do. It's free and downloadable.on Google Play.

Lbe has security hole when booting up. Plus doesnt work always. Had instances where something blocked got throught. Pdroid is better but you need to build deodexed rom and build own patch.
What did you install that triggered that permission request?

From the pics I can see that these are all Samsung and Google apps ,most of them should have access without even asking you ,so I guess it's either a bug or maybe a virus?
Anyway I think you can safely give these apps permission seeing they are all system apps.

as I said ,all of them are system apps ,it's just weird that they should ask for permission .
usually if a system appis asking for permission then it has been modified in some way, like modified google maps .
are you sure it is fully stock? if yes then it could be just a bug maybe?
you could probably solve this by wiping ,but since you are on LPY this has the potential of being lethal to your phone.
my advice is allow them access ,I doubt any harm will come of it.
Yeah those seem to be system app but why on earth LCD test and other apps would want to access your google account?
I suggest flash safe kernel wipe data then re-flash ICS.
Or downgrade to GB wipe data then upgrade to ICS.

Does you S4 show "custom" status and the unlock icon? Or does it show "official"?
Could always decompile and remove the check from the code, but that is kinda hardcore, would need to find a smali badass to do it.

Just a thought, but if you can get the phone back to saying "official" without the padlock maybe it will work. There are a bunch of threads about regaining official status floating around the forums. Some methods work for some and other methods work for others. It might be worth trying though.
Most importantly: did you grant this application root rights? I once had an authenticator for an online game that asked for root rights. If granted, it complained about the risks of using the authenticator on a rooted system. It was interesting.
Now, otherwise I can't see how DirecTV is checking your device to see if it's been compromised, or "security-tampered" ... Unless it has rights to check that "device status - custom" that the others here are referring to?
If that's the case, it should be easy enough to get rid of the "custom" status by using SuperSU instead of SuperUser. It involves downloading/installing SuperSU, updating it and the SU binary, and then uninstalling SuperUser (the app that comes with Motochopper). A reboot or two is usually necessary.
If you've uninstalled bloatware or installed a custom kernel or rom, you're pretty much stuck with "custom" until we find another way around this.

As mentioned, it is most likely either directly checking for known superuser apks or binaries or it is checking the "status" to determine if root has been achieved. If it is only checking for "status", then maintaining an "official" status should be enough to get it to run. If it actually checks for root, then the APK will need modifying to remove the check or return a reverse false positive or root will need to be removed.

Since it's a commercial app, IDK about doing that, if it's legal or against forum rules. There is a chrome extension that lets you dl it from the play store via the browser, or at least there used to be if it's been removed.

ok I will follow your advise.
This is the first time I'm using a major android phone so I gotta learn how to root through YouTube and then I'll buy the region unlock app.
I guess I will have to reset my phone to make sure that everything works perfect. I don't have anything saved in my phone so I think it won't matter for me to reset.
If possible if you do not mind and if I'm not asking for too much please let me know any app name of YYouTube video which has got the best and easy explanation on how to root the note 3. I find a lot of videos but not sure which is the most recent and best method.

Before you root, have a read around check out about KNOX etc and how it affects you. - Once you have decided if rooting is OK, head over to CF-Autoroot thread here on XDA by Chainfire, then download Odin 3.07 and follow the guides. Safer following XDA guides.

If you're rooted, why not just try it. If you want to see what's locked get es file explorer and go /system/csc
customer.xml has list of network locks, after running region lock away new customer .XML will have no locks, original is backed up in backup file, if you need to restore it.

yeah, you need to read about Knox flag and how this could affect you in a future, since there is a good chance rooting will trip Knox flag and it's permanent, no way to reset it yet. Beside delavega there is also Kingo rooting method, much easier, but there were some questions about data security etc. and I'm not sure where it all stands now. My only advice would be read as much as you can and don't rush, you could even brick your phone if you mess up.
Hi,
First off all, sorry for my bad english.
(This is also the first time i post something on XDA)
I've recently (a month ago) buyed a Samsung galaxy s4 GT-I9505. It is a very good phone but when a android phone is rooted it's even better.
So i was searching the web for rooting the S4 and i came out with Towelroot. With this i was able to root my phone.
And of course i was messing around with the root capability's and i've started to uninstall system apps with "System app remover (ROOT)".
And i it did go very well but i want to replace the gallery app with another gallery app so i've downloaded another gallery app.
And i deleted the original system gallery app. And that messed things up. For the one who knows and who don't knows the gallery app manage also the lockscreen wallapaper. i've searched for for this problem a whole day and i found nothing but really nothing.
So i hope someone can help me.
So for short i have deleted Gallery, Camera, Music, Music share
Is there a way to get these apps back (restore from the uninstall app doesn't work) ?
If Yes, how ?
If No, is there another way to change the stock lockscreen wallpaper ?

I solved this problem when I installed an old apk of Samsung Health (version for Galaxy S5) and then update app from Galaxy Apps Store
Before it was running smoothely i have never rooted my phone but now samsung health and some other application says that it cant be opened on rooted device, i have also tried your technique it said root access is required to edit system properties...please help
thanks
working in s7 edge. thanks!
Just to let everyone know you can very easily fix this problem, as long as you have a rooted phone, here is another easier way, if you're getting the error message or Knox and cannot access Samsung health because it could say your device is compromised Etc. this is how you easily can fix it.
Download build prop editor, open app, Grant it root access, once granted scroll down the list until you see
"ro.config.tima" , beside this you will see a number 1, edit the number 1 to 0 and save changes and reboot phone.

You have to reroot your phone and fix with build prop.
Once you trip Knox there's no getting it back. But with root at least you can edit values so apps will work again.

I would always recommend reading the OP before commenting on any thread, otherwise you're really just commenting blind.
for your security, samsung health can't be opened on a rooted phone. (0x110010null5h3130 )
can you help me please ?
I have unrooted phone, S7 Duos, how to solve this problem in it?
Does this work with Exynos S9+? This is the only thing holding me back from rooting.

I've posted this as an afterthought in some of my other threads, but have come to realize that this easy little fix might just be crucial enough for some to warrant having its own thread. So anyway, here it is.
Easy fix for the Samsung Health "device has been compromised" or "can't be opened on a rooted device" errors.
1) Download an app from the Play Store called "BuildProp Editor".
2) Search for "ro.config.tima".
3) Click on it and change the "1" to a "O".
4) Reboot device.
Please be sure to hit the "Thanks" or Donate button below if this helped you out!

Should it needed to to be rooted when we use the bulid it prop?

Yes but if you're not rooted you shouldn't have the problem in the first place. It is when the phone is rooted, that many people have the problem with Samsung Health.
