Is there anyway to root my cellphone with the update installed? Recently formatted and re-installed 4.4.2 with RSD because I wanted this update...
And now I can't root
PD: To the question if I have Bootloader unlocked, the answer is yes, if it helps
Flash the recovery of your choice then flash the SuperSU zip
We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.

I rooted my S4 awhile back but never put a rom on it well I got the 4.4.4 update and didn't really care but now I am having a serious battery drain by the Android System and need to run so apps that require root access. Since I was already rooted is there a different process to Re-Root the device or do I just follow the standard rooting procedure for the 4.4.4 NJ4. Will I have to wipe everything also to do it or will I be able to keep my phone in tacked. Could you point me to the best method for my situation it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for you help.
If you have custom recovery, flash the update super su zip.
If not, you might have to go through the rooting process.
Hey guys,
I am sorry for creating the thread if it is already answered somewhere but i didn't manage to find it.
I have a stock LP ROM and I've rooted it and installed custom recovery, and now OTA won't install v30d since device is suspected of rooting. I've already tried unrooting the device through superSU but it wasn't helpful. Do I need to restore a stock recovery too or what's the catch? By the way I don't want to reinstall stock ROM because I am already using it and it works pretty fine but it is bugging me that the phone keeps informing me about new ROM and I can't install it.
Please help or at least point me to the right place and again I don't want to reinstall stock ROM
Install recovery buckup data then flash stok rom then update and last install recovery again and restore data
hi,
I have a rooted moto x play (indian version)
I downloaded the OTA update, which reboots to recovery and fails. I use twrp as recovery.
And then it keeps failing. I want to install OTA update but don't want to reset my mobile.
Screenshot. ( boot loader is unlocked)
Maybe do a search prior to posting about installing an ota when rooted and running a custom recovery. There's more than a few threads regarding this specific situation.
All you're really doing is cluttering the MXP threads with non needed threads.
I'm not even going to help you out because I hate spoon feeding people who can't even or are to lazy to do either a search on XDA or google.
I did try searching for. no help
can anyone help?
Rooting means you're modifying the system. The system will not be like before. You may be able to download the update but that won't get installed. The modification of system files won't allow you to patch them with the OTA update. So the only way is to flash the firmware manually
since Lollipop, Google doesn't let the OTA install on top of a modified system. (any modification at all). If you were rooted, and you unroot, the system is still considered "modified".
you want to install an official update from your manufacturer, the recommended process is to first return your device to completely stock including replacing TWRP with a copy of the stock recovery.
If you have nandroid backup before install SuperSU, first flash that and flash stock recovery and boot into stock and get ota and flash then you can re root and flash recovery again.
For some reason I can't root my Huawei P8. It currently running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Before that it was running on Android 5.1 Lollipop and it was rooted. I've tried many times but was unsuccessful. The bootloader is unlocked (In the fastboot screen it said phone locked in red text). I flashed Twrp recovery install SuperSu but no root. Have anybody experienced this kind of issue? Any threads or site that can help me fix this and get my phone rooted? Thanks in advance.
Btw current build version is GRA-UL00C636B361
there should be a method with 2 zip file to flash in two steps (one right after another restart), but it was for the p8 lite, I do not know your model
you need kernel and last twrp....follow this instrction:

Hi, yesterday i tried to root my phone for the first time, i unlocked the bootloader then installed twrp recovery.
But when i was installing root, after some restarts my phone got stuck in bootloop, finally this morning i was able to reflash recovery, system and boot files with fastboot, and now my phone is working but the emui now its 4.0.
Do i have to update my emui before rooting? Or can i root now and only update the custom rom?
And if somebody is so kind to show me every step to root it correctly, i'd be very grateful.
Thanks.
PS: I'm sorry, i didnt saw the Q&A section, and i don't know how to delete this thread
