When I turn off my Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-i9500) and push the volume down, home button and power button to go into Download Mode I get a purple text that says Factory Mode and shows this:
工厂模式(Gōng chǎng mó shì)=factory model
完整测试(Wán zhěng cè shì)=complete testing
单项测试(Dān xiàng cè shì)=single testing
测试报告(Cè shì bào gào)=test report
清除e MMC(Qīng chú e MMC)=Clear/Remove/reset e MMC
版本信息(Bǎn běn xìn xī)=Version Information
重启手机(Chóng qǐ shǒu jī)= restarting the phone
(I got the translations off of another website as I was browsing around for answers)
I really want to root my S4 and I can't root it unless I can access my download mode. Is there another way I can access the download mode on a unrooted S4 or if I could get rid of this Factory Mode menu that shows up?
Also, why is my S4 showing this instead of download mode?
Sad to say but your s4 is a clone device. Not the original GT-9500

There may be ROMS for your phone but you won't find them here as this is for the Official Samsung Galaxy S4. Yours is completely different in every way.
If you bought it at a premium price as a Genuine S4 I'd be hitting up the seller for a refund!

Is this correct?

I have the same Factory Mode screen on an old Samsung Galaxy Ace and no matter what I do cannot get into download mode. Bought the phone on ebay and it looks like it originally came from Chine Mobile. Is it right that this Factory mode screen means the phone is a clone and not an original.
Hi
Can i flash my "samsung galaxy tab 4 t237 sprint" Rom with "Samsung galaxy tab 4 t235" ?
They are similar models with similar hardware
the only deference is that t237 has infrared and t235 don't.

How can i unlock sprint lock (sim)?
Legal unlock codes dose not supported in my region.

I wouldn't do it. Don't be so certain the hw is the same. Recovery and roots for 237 do not work on the 235. have not tried visa versa.
235 has a Marvell board and processor/SoC.
I don't think you can flash a 235 factory rom under any circumstances.
Variables:
If the 237 has a marvell board/SoC instead of a QUALCOMM snapdragon, you might be able to flash a custom rom for the 235 whenever one becomes available. There's none out there yet.
ROOT for the 235 just became available so roms may be around the corner.
The hw could be the same, however the partitions may be different.
You might try as a test to flash the unlocked 235 recovery on to your sprint 237. I can't promise you won't brick your 237, but I don't think that will happen. I'm not buying you a replacement 237 if it does..
Worst case I can see is the recovery flash fails and so you go ahead and reflash the factory recovery from the 237 stock rom.
Best case the recovery flashes and works. In this case, then you'd have an idea that flashing the entire 235 ROM might also work.
How did you root your T237?

I was wondering if you could tell me how you rooted your T237 and walk me through the steps or point me to the site with directions? I rooted my S5 G900P and love all the advantages. Now I try to get everyone to root and put custom Roms on there phones, it's amazing what you can do.

I can testify this method worked for me on my brand new Sprint Tab 4 7.0 SM-T237P.
I have been unable to find any ROMS for it, and im kinda bummed out about it. I'm considering taking the tab back as I really enjoy a custom ROM, but I a not sure I can find any other tablet with cellular that is supported by any of the local carriers.

There's now a way to get the factory recovery (3e) restored to the device without losing root.
That's detailed further on in the same T237P root thread.
Question:
Do you have Sprint cellular voice calling on your T237P without using a Bluetooth connection with your phone?

Sprint doesnt offer it with voice plan. I did however drop my mobile plan, took the free tablet and ported my mobile number to google voice. I now use my tablet with google hangouts and my primary telephone, it works TERRIFIC! I have WIFI availably 95% of the time and I am getting away with a $20 per month 1gb data plan.

My Tab 4 T237 has a sim card
I just took the plunge and tried flashing a T235 recovery, this one to be precise: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/sm-t235-lte-rooted-twrp-2-8-alpha1-sm-t3027059
Good news: it didn't brick my device.
Bad news: it didn't work, either. Just forced me into download mode, and once I used Odin to flash the t237p philz, it worked fine again. Will continue to test and update.
---------- Post added at 11:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 PM ----------
Just tried two more versions of TWRP. Same result. Sadly, I'm fairly certain that mine has a Qualcomm SoC, and therefore using a t235 anything will never work.
Maybe I should teach myself to make a rom.

Let us know if any 235 roms work on our 237
Hey folks,
Any other (not T235 only) ROM worked for T237? This crap is driving me crazy! I'm thinking loading T335 ROM onto T237 as I believe it is on Qualcomm as well.
I have a Galaxy S4 on Bell network (Canadian), the model is I337. Last year, I followed an instruction rooted my phone (but I cannot remember what I did :silly::crying:, which method I used thru ordin). Everything is working fine after root, but my phone's model number changed to GT-I9505G since then. It seems has no impact to functionalities, but just wondering is there a way to change the model number back to the actual model it should be?
Update:
Found the way to change it from another thread

I'm not sure what's going on but it seems your phone has been hacked to make it look like an sgh-i337. If you're in Canada you should have a sgh-i337m though, not a sgh-i337 which is the At&t version. I9505G is an international variant I think.

yup, the label on my phone is SGH-i337M (sorry, I missed a letter). I might used the procedure for I9505G to root my Canadian version phone. Luckily, my phone was not bricked. I don't know where the model number be written, just curious if that can be changed back to SGH-i337M?

Are you looking in settings, about phone, or are you talking about when the phone boots up it says i9505G on the Samsung splash screen? I you are talking about in settings/about phone, I am sure it can be changed back if you have the know how. As for the splash screen, that comes alng with being rooted I would imagine. My at&t Galaxy S2 says i9100 on its splash screen because I rooted it.

I am looking for the way to change it on settings/ about phone. More details, on my Google Play store, it also shows my phone is GT-I9505G (dunno if that's why some apps complaining not compatible with this device in Play store), same as when I restore the backup from google. Can this be changed back to SGH-i337M?
It can be changed back, but you need the Android programming technical know how to do it.

would you mind give me some links to start with?
Since I am only an amateur modder and not a developer, I wouldn't even know where to start myself. Have you tried swappng out the kernel? This sometimes can change the model number in settings.

Am Sorry if goggling solves this problem but couldn't solve my rather weird problem, i just got (today to be exact) a new SGS4 which claims to be GT-I9500 but it's not Exynos 5 IT"S Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.9ghz. Installed antutu and another info app to make sure and what's happening? is it fake? antutu says it scored 27000 points which is similar to the s600 and camera and UI are Buttery Smooth unlike the fake ones who cannot achieve that, all S apps are accounted for and gallery is well gallery. i haven't installed CPU-Z yet but if in a way this turn out to be real how am i supposed to upgrade it or do any thing related to software manipulations ?
What makes you think it's a snapdragon?
Found out another thing!!

Ok!! i finally unplugged it from the so called 3 hour first-charge and went in to the download mode since it tells me the product name, guess what i found, it says it is the Sprint S4, sph-l720 and its on custom rom, if it's a real one it answers the snapdragon thing since sprint's variant uses it, and the font is suspiciously very small. it passed the *#0*# test and OK, tell me something, can you change the device name with a ROM and make every app on it to think that way?? the million dollar question, is the sph-l720 rom my official rom? THANKS!
Yes. You can easily change the device name with the ROM. You probably have the sprint version of S4.
Yes, you can change the device model.
Mine is a GT-I9505. I'm using a GPE rom and because of this all apps show it as a GT-I9505G.

so is it normal that the download mode font is very small i mean the info part , the green part is fine. and yeah the galaxy dont state model when booting just sgs4. so shall i try to flash the official sprint rom on it? the current OS is messy!! do you know a rom made by BinBinKeji? it says so instead of the build number.
thank you!!

it says my phone is ORIGINAL, the bootloader is L720VPUNAE, bb is L720VPUAMDC, CSC is L720SPTFNAE , PDA is I9500XXUFB7.

i found philz touch 6 insteadof recovery, looks like someoe has gone a great length to make it look like s4 gt-i9500, even the info under the battery is for gt-i9500, should i only depend on the motherboard to upgrade it? which is jfltespr sprint s4.

could be using a GT-I9500 Sticker or better yet the whole frame of the GT-I9500. Best best you can do is download the official sprint odin flash file and revert to factory stock.
