Why is my external sdcard showing up as internal storage on my nook color with Mrom.

Here is a couple pictures. The first is my 4gb sdcard. The second is what u believe to be the actual internal storage of the nook.
Any ideas or known fixes?
Am I wrong here?

And the sd card says there's only 1gb.... Should my ext sd be under the sdcard option?

anyone? leapinlar? someone?
I'm just curious b/c i would like to use my Rom Manager app to create backups rather than booting to recovery every time.
also, is there a touch CWM for nook color?
In MROM external and intrnal memories are swapped by default. See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32026261&postcount=27

You use the 4.2 version of MROM. It's a little bit complicated here. You need to edit vold.fstab file. Try this or this.

okay, got adb to recognize. pulled the vold.fstab. edited. am booting now to see if it worked.... AND IT DID!!!
Thanks for all the help btw!!
I will take a snapshot with my phone and post after this! Thanks so much to all that helped!!!
I will press all the "Thanks" buttons that I can!
Another justification to joining XDA.
Love this forum and its' people.
Hope I can pay this forward!

Okay well Rom Manager still won't back up to the correct path... ugh...
It tries to back up to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/<name of recovery>
Is there a way to make it backup to /sdcard1/clockworkmod/backup/....?
The storage change worked
Thanks again.
Is there a way to make this app backup to the correct storage location?
It should be sdcard1. Not sdcard.
Any ideas?

Guess i'm just going to have to do it from recovery....
I tried the other option and it still won't work.
The app and the partitions don't communicate very well apparently.
When using external storage setting from app it tries to backup to /sdcard/blah blah blah
When turning that setting off, it tries to install to /ext_SDCard/clockworkmod/backup/<backup name>
So dumb.... lol
Not a big issue but I was hoping by fixing the internal/external storage issue, THIS issue would be resolved.... I was wrong.
If someone knows how to fix the app (not likely) to work with the nook color emmc partitions let me know.
Until then I will just continue doing my backups manually via the recovery.

I was trying to put a movie on my storage card and I keep getting the message that 's write protected. I'm using a Micro SD from my AT&T 8525 w/ an SD adapter and my internal card reader on my Dell XPS desktop w/ Win XP.
Does it have anything to do w/ that it's a 400MB file i'm trying to copy. This is just frustrating.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

That is a big file for the 8525, Still that does not explain the problem. I have seen this reported before, but I do not recall a solution. Theories about sector size etc etc.
You could try copying the contents of the SD temporarily to PC. Reformat the disk and try again. You could also try via active sync if you have a great deal of patience!

The numbers in the attached screenshot do not add up. What's possibly abusing my internal memory that wouldn't be listed? And how do I access these locations to free up memory?
I know that some places like clockworkMOD backups aren't listed, but I've been through normal locations and can't find the culprit. Can Google drive take up space (even with no offline file sets)? I ask this as when watching the last backup that I made, the data backup took a long time and listed many Google drive only files (none set for offline access). However, when I look in data I can't find these ???
I'm running C&C 1.3.1 with Broken kernel.
TIA

Try installing DiskUsage to find out what is taking up your precious storage space.
Very strange.

happens also with me, do you have backed up apps with a app as titanium backup or do you have cwm backups ? A cwm backup can easily take 2-3 gb. These aren't listed.
Edit: Sorry didn't read your post well.

They could just be temporary files which should be removed when you reboot. 3rd party disk usage tools might list that space as System Reserved or System Files.
I've had over 5 gigs used by these types files on my Galaxy Nexus several times, and rebooting restored that space, but it's possible that they're removed on the fly as more space is needed, since I never actually got any warning that I was running low on space when I had around 1 gig left.

Thanks all. This app above really helped to see things. Clockwork MOD backups use a ridiculous amount (the blobs folder separate from the backup is insane), and as suggested, so do tibu backups. Between these two (only one backup on each) 6.7gb was being occupied.

My Samsung Keyboard has disappeared. Whatever application I'm in I cannot type any word. Not with letters and not with handwriting. There is an empty rectangle at the bottom where the keyboard should be (see picture). It does not show keys and also it does nothing when I tap onto the empty space. Google voice typing does work.

More information about my phone and what I have done, trying to be complete:
Device type: Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 (GT-S7710) (no separate subforum for this one yet). I had been flashing a custom system.img to it using linux heimdall. After flashing the system.img it did not boot, so I re-flashed images from the stock rom (GT-S7710/PHN/S7710XXAMB5.html). That made the device boot again. But as said: it did not have the samsung keyboard or it crashes every time. Not sure.
This is what I already tried to get it back, but to no avail:
clear cache and force stop for Samsung Keyboard, Google Services and Media Storage
restore to factory default from system menu
wipe cache and wipe data/restore to factory from recovery
reflash with S7710XXAMB6_OXEAMB3.zip (a full service ROM with images for more partitions)
see if samsung would update the system (samsung wouldn't: it was up-to-date)
download languages for input methods and selected English(UK) for all
disable bloatware
rebooted after all things I tried
Hoping for advise or pointers into a direction to search further. Anyway thanks for reading.
The keyboard re-appeared and I would like to understand why. This is what I had done in the meantime:
installed Swiftkey Trial
had an update for Samsung Push Service
did a restore in Helium backup app
rooted by flashing system image with su binary
Thanks for any thoughts about the crashing Samsung Keyboard (and the mysterious revival )

My opinion is that you shouldn't be wondering why is it working. I mean I always question everything but it is mostly pointless. Like why did the chicken cross the screen. It just did. Also, why are you even using Android keyboard? There are much better ones.

hi there.
I'm completely missing my keyboard. I'm rooted and I may have uninstalled samsung keyboard to free some space. I made a factory reset and now everything is gone including swiftkey which Was my prefered keyboard.
What to do?

Hi guys. I just connected the tablet to my PC to copy some files, my PC got stuck for a moment and the second time I connected it, I realized the Nexus 7 storage was completely formatted. The only folder left is "Android". No idea how this happened.
Do you have any suggestions how can I recover my files back? Please help me, I had some really important stuff there. :crying: Thanks
All files are there, just hidden and marked as over writeable. Google recover deleted items. Point whatever tool you find to the nexus and it should get them all back.

That is very optimistic! Could you tell me please how can I make Win7 recognize the device as a flash usb drive because this is how it recognizes it now (in the capture below) and recovery programs does not support such "drives". I have set is as MTP Media Device. Thank you, man!

Can you not mount it as USB in recovery? Not too sure as I have a stock N7.

I tried to boot into recovery mode but the screen says "No Command". Win 7 does not recognize the device either. Mine is stock, not rooted.
P.S. I am a complete rookie with android, you can PM if you prefer please.

You will not be able to mount USB via the stock recovery. You will need CWM or TWRP. When in the OS you only have the option for MTP mounting. I don't know of any way to mount mass storage in the OS.

I'm having a strange problem with Dropsync/Autosync/Onesync on my GS4 running the "Mostly Stock NG2 v1.3" ROM -- I patched it to allow writing to the external SD card, but for some reason, even though the sync apps show the external SD card as writable, they don't show the emulated/0 folder as being writable, and the apps don't create their application directories as they normally should -- as a result, even though they can write to the SD card, they can't sync because they can't write to the device to keep track of what has been synced. I contacted the developer but he wasn't able to help me, besides identifying the problem is on the device storage side of things rather than a SD card issue.

I suggest you try a different ROM. There are a lot of important things missing in that ROM. Dialer chooses don't work for one. Almost any other NG2 ROM has the SD Card fix.

Any recommendations? I used to run TriForceROM 5.4 -- I'd like to find something similar, with crapware removed, wifi hotspot added, etc. but not a complete overhaul that introduces new problems.
