So, I rooted my Sprint GS5(4.4.2) but unrooted it. Im about to re-root it but thats not the question(s).
I just wanna know if GravityBox (KK) is good to use on my Galaxy. I heard its not a great idea to use it because it may clog up the device. If GravityBox isnt a good idea what other mods would be a good similar one? I know Wanam and Xblast are but I want to know if there are others that are good.
Also, what are the best mods in general to get once I re-root my phone. Thanks.

Hey guys,
noticed that pretty much every mod/ theme on here requires a rooted S4 and since there are no specific roms, I don't want to root my new i9506 yet.
In saying that, I do want to put some mods/ customise my S4.
Could people just link threads that have cool effects on lock/homescreen or awesome mods/launchers/skins/themes that don't require root / roms to work?
I would even appreciate any Google Play apps (only if tested and working well on an S4).
-I haven't mentioned specifically what kind of mods. Please post links to everything and anything that looks cool.
Thank you.

You should agree with me, that the best thing you can do with your non-rooted phone is root it

Mate, I do agree with you. I would love as much as anything to root it, however I'm a bit concerned with this knox issue and the warranty being voided permanently. Gone are the days when you could just S-Off and reflash stock.
I hope I'm in the right place for this and it hasen't already been covered. I rooted my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 the other day and after root installed TB and SuperSu. I'm think as I was installing SuperSu, may have been TB, it asked if I wanted to disable Knox Security. Just wondering if any VGN3 users who have root have seen this? I haven't tripped Knox yet and wondering if it could still happen. I've installed Safestrap and everything seems fine so far. Still hunting the best Rom to install along side the stock 4.3. All suggestions as far as new Rom are welcome along with any input on this post. THANKS!

The disable Knox message is totally normal. By not disabling Knox you will most likely get Knox warnings when running root programs. Just let SU disable it, all will be fine. As for 4.3 ROMs Eclipse is AOSP styled and great on the battery, Baja ROM and Hyperdrive are the most customizable. it really depends what you want out of your ROM.
Many Thanks!

Thanks for getting back on this. I did let SU disable it and I'm feeling better after hearing from someone else. This is the first phone I've had to deal with Knox. I started with the first Droid Inc then moved to the Galaxy Nexus and now I'm playing with the Note 3. Gotta say I really love this phone. Hate the carrier but it's paid for so I'm kinda there. As far as roms go Hyperdrive is one I've been looking at and I'm sure to be checking out your other suggestions.

Misterxtc I kinda figure you haunt, in a good way, this site so I just wanted to get back and tell you
I went with the Hyperdrive Rom and couldn't be happier. I did check out you're other suggestions and
decided on Hyperdrive. Love to customize. Thanks Again for your help.
Hey guys, do you guys recommend me to root my note 4? I know it will trip knox, but I don't seem to have any problems with my note 4, so I don't mind if the warranty is gone. (Prefer some advice from users who rooted the note 4)
Cheers
root it.. you are on a xda forum, what do you think the answer would be?
why you wanna root ? do ya need some apps/mods that wont work unless your device is rooted ?if not , then keep it stock and dont mess with it.
you have answer not XDA members/devs
I rooted mine, after thinking about it for 2 weeks.
I have since removed alot of the bloatware, installed Xposed - Wanam, and the phone is flying. Some of the annoying Touchwiz stuff is gone.
Unless there is a stable CM rom, I won't be flashing custom recovery.
If you are fine with the phone as it is, no need to root.
Just moved from TMobile and you have to root and install a custom ROM with anything they have just to get it to function the way it should... Here with my shiny new S5 with lollipop, it seems like a decent device already. Soooo... What are the advantages to rooting and installing a custom ROM other than tickling my geek fancy?

Working hotspot, all kinds of tweaks, debloat, reboot options, and various apps that need root.... lots of stuff!
So, now that I got the thing rooted, what to do? Install a custom ROM? Or just some root-needing apps like Titanium Backup to make life a bit better?
What did you do with your note Note after getting the root, and would you recommend it to others?
After rooting it we tell you congratulations. Then you search the forums for what to do after rooting a phone. Why root it if you dont know why to root your phone.
Search will find identical posts .
Why root unless you need root ???What do you actually want to do with your phone ??
Root is of use for TB backups .Personally i use it to edit system files .

Neither of the faqs/guides there answers my question, but I guess I should've known better than to ask for help at XDA. I 've asked and received a plenty of helpful responses at reddit, fortunately.
You are asking what did user do once they have rooted .
I replied in effect you don't root just to root .
What do you do well simply you rooted to do something otherwise why root its silly voids warranty for starters .
GOODBYE

Just lol. Please delete this thread.
I don't know why I feel this belongs more on the "General" forum as I feel this is more of a discussion than asking for help (unless I misunderstood the question).
But hey, I can answer your question, sure why not.
I rooted basically to update from the boring old stock Lollipop ROM that the Note 3 got stuck on, kinda felt that it ran its course.
Also because I like the look of Marshmallow over LP.
Also tried using apps like Greenify, Amplify, etc... to improve battery life but didn't notice much of an improvement. I figured I drain my battery way too fast because I like one particular power-hungry game and no battery-optimization is going to change that lol.
All the Android phones I've ever had have always been rooted, I recommend it for people who are bored of stock (this is why I prefer Android over iOS, I see iOS as just staying stuck with stock)
Mostly because of custom ROMs, though they do have their downsides of course.
I've even rooted my work's phone with fresh warranty voided haha, like I care.
Anyway, yeah. I don't know what you're looking for exactly, maybe you're trying to find cool things to do with a rooted phone or something.
For that I say, browse through xposed modules and there are interesting things you discover you can do with your phone
