I'm using 4.4.2 rooted, SU, TWRP 2.7.0.0. I've searched the forum and one thread says it's because of Exposed Framework. i've uninstalled it, but still nothing.
OTA fails
The OTA updates doesn't works correctly , this is the reason who I update with odin (Don't worry , your data are safe when you update on odin).
ain't there any way to update my device via ota
When you have "assert failed" issue, open ZIP file through WinRAR, go under META-INF/com/google/android and open updater-script, delete any line like the followings:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "NAMEOFDEVICE" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "NAMEOFDEVICE");
Where NAMEOFDEVICE can be jflte, jfltexx etc. Leave directly a "mount" or "uiprint" line as 1st line, save the file and confirm the modification in WinRAR's popup. Finally flash the file

Hi,
Can someone advise me how to remove CWM? I have problem when trying to update OTA2.5 (0089ROW). I got this error msg when apply update either from SD card or from OTA.
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "Indigo" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "Indigo"

What I have done in the past?
I've rooted with 0075ROW with CWM installed.
Now I've unrooted my TPT but the CWM still cannot remove.
I have Lollipop 5.0.0 rooted, without any customizations. I flashed latest TWRP recovery today and then tried to install the 5.0.1 update.
In TWRP log I get the following message:

You can't flash the ota in twrp. You need to be 100% stock and sideload the ota zip in the stock recovery. You also can't have root. I'd unroot using the full unroot option in supersu. Then flash the recovery, system, and boot images from 5.0 in fastboot. Then boot into the stock recovery and sideload the ota. None of this will wipe your device

Thanks! It used to be easier. I remember I've flashed OTA's like this in KitKat times. I'll try ehat you said.

It does not check pieces anymore in 5.0, it checks the entire file, so if one byte is out of place, if will fail.
I'm on Android 5.1.1 and want to update to marshmallow so but rooted and with TWRP installed . So I installed the original recovery.img and unrooted my device. Now when I try to aplly the ota.zip in recovery I get this error:"/system/app/BasicDreams/BasicDreams.apk has unexpected contents. E:Error in /sideload/package.zip(Status 7) Installation aborted." so I think this is because I unintalled some system apps before and now they're missing.
Can somebody upload a TWRP backup of Android 5.1.1 (just the system) (or even better for marshmallow )
Thanks
Hello team of professionals!
First, I thank you all for your hard work and development of this device!
I have an issue updating to the latest stock room from Asus.
I had CM13 (Android 6) installed on my Asus Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE551KL).
When I heard that stock marshmallow was released I was interested in installing the ROM.
I tried for several hours to install the update and ended up bricking my phone.
I recovered it by installing the most recent stock Lollipop firmware from Asus' website.
Currently my phone has stock Lollipop with the ROM (UL-Z00T-WW-1.17.40.1531-user)
and stock recovery (attempted to do this so I could upgrade from lollipop to marshmallow)
At this time I am trying to install the most recent (Android 6) update "UL-Z00T-WW-21.40.1220.1615-user.zip" Downloaded from my device's page on Asus' site however I get errors every time I try.
I tried to update via stock android by placing the update zip on my SD card and launching from "System update file detected" notification.
The update restarts my phone, starts installing (With the little android guy) and then fails with the error:
Code:
Can't install this M package (May 17 2015)
Code:
L less than 20160426 build (Dec 1 2015)
Code:
E:Error in /sdcard/updatefile.zip
Code:
(Status 7)
Code:
E: fota_return_code 409
Code:
Installation aborted(EUPDATE_BAD_PARMSE)
When attempting with TWRP:
Code:
Updater process ended with ERROR 7.
Error installing zip file "xxxxxxxxxxx.zip"
Any help would be appreciated
Can you post your build.prop (found /system ) here ? And what is "updatefile.zip" ? Did you renamed the fota (or OTA, as you call it) ?
would this be applicable?

i am trying to downgrade from nougat to marshamallow due to bass sound is bad after the nougat update.

Please use the right SKU for updating...
E:Error in /sideload/package.zip

Installation aborted.
my current firmware is WW_V20.31.49.2
i am trying to install WW_V11.41.87.2
the rom i am trying to install came from asus support website
You can not downgrade that way. The updates are actually patches, so they don't work backwards. You'd have to do some fastboot and adb stuff (explore the threads and they're around), but you will lose all data.
Can I use twrp using the same Rom?
