Hello team of professionals!
First, I thank you all for your hard work and development of this device!
I have an issue updating to the latest stock room from Asus.
I had CM13 (Android 6) installed on my Asus Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE551KL).
When I heard that stock marshmallow was released I was interested in installing the ROM.
I tried for several hours to install the update and ended up bricking my phone.
I recovered it by installing the most recent stock Lollipop firmware from Asus' website.
Currently my phone has stock Lollipop with the ROM (UL-Z00T-WW-1.17.40.1531-user)
and stock recovery (attempted to do this so I could upgrade from lollipop to marshmallow)
At this time I am trying to install the most recent (Android 6) update "UL-Z00T-WW-21.40.1220.1615-user.zip" Downloaded from my device's page on Asus' site however I get errors every time I try.
I tried to update via stock android by placing the update zip on my SD card and launching from "System update file detected" notification.
The update restarts my phone, starts installing (With the little android guy) and then fails with the error:
Code:
Can't install this M package (May 17 2015)
Code:
L less than 20160426 build (Dec 1 2015)
Code:
E:Error in /sdcard/updatefile.zip
Code:
(Status 7)
Code:
E: fota_return_code 409
Code:
Installation aborted(EUPDATE_BAD_PARMSE)
When attempting with TWRP:
Code:
Updater process ended with ERROR 7.
Error installing zip file "xxxxxxxxxxx.zip"
Any help would be appreciated
Can you post your build.prop (found /system ) here ? And what is "updatefile.zip" ? Did you renamed the fota (or OTA, as you call it) ?
would this be applicable?

I'm trying to apply the 5.0.1 LRX22C OTA update file on my Nexus 7 (2013 WiFi), which is currently running 5.0.0 Build LRX21P. I've tried installing the zip through TWRP recovery and by sideloading using the Nexus Root Toolkit from my computer...no luck either way.
Here's the issue I'm running into:
During the OTA zip install process, I get an error saying that the user build on my device is LRX21V, and the update aborts because the package expects build LRX21P. (My device settings say that I'm on LRX21P.) I upgraded to 5.0.0 in the first place by manually installing the OTA zip from build KTU84P. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the issue, since I did not wait for the OTA to become available when it rolled out to me in the System Update feature (maybe sideloading OTAs triggers my device to load test/interim builds?).
Here's what I get in the TWRP log:
Installing '/sdcard/bc4516eb14461efdfaf309311b1f09328b654012.signed-razor-LRX22C-from-LRX21P.bc4516eb.zip'...

Anyone know how I can get the update to work? I don't want to wipe my device to flash a factory image...it's not that urgent. But if there's a way I can upgrade without waiting for the OTA to rollout to me, that'd be nice.
Thanks for any help!
Wrong section, 2013 N7 Q&A is here,

I'm on Android 5.1.1 and want to update to marshmallow so but rooted and with TWRP installed . So I installed the original recovery.img and unrooted my device. Now when I try to aplly the ota.zip in recovery I get this error:"/system/app/BasicDreams/BasicDreams.apk has unexpected contents. E:Error in /sideload/package.zip(Status 7) Installation aborted." so I think this is because I unintalled some system apps before and now they're missing.
Can somebody upload a TWRP backup of Android 5.1.1 (just the system) (or even better for marshmallow )
Thanks
I've CM13 dated Dec 25 in my OnePlus 2. Nightly build from the below thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/development/6-0-1-unofficial-cyanogenmod-13-0-t3270496
I am trying to update newer CM nightlies uploaded in that thread, but I am facing some problem while flashing.
This is what it says.
Install failed

Finding update package...

E:failed to map file
Installation aborted.
Tried downloading new CM13 file versions and flashing them. Still same error.
Tried flashing an altogether different custom ROM. Still same error.
Tried updating to TWRP recovery and flashed the ROM. Same error!!!
Tried to remove the assert verification for oneplus2 in updater binary script as suggested in some thread. Same error!
Tried both dirty flash as well as clean flash. Still same error!!! :crying:
I am stuck up somewhere. I do not know where and I could not find any solution online.
Can anyone help me out at the earliest?
You can stay on that version for a while since there's no development going on until maybe February or Mars when OnePlus supposedly is going to release Oxygen OS based off Marshmallow.

my current firmware is WW_V20.31.49.2
i am trying to install WW_V11.41.87.2
the rom i am trying to install came from asus support website
You can not downgrade that way. The updates are actually patches, so they don't work backwards. You'd have to do some fastboot and adb stuff (explore the threads and they're around), but you will lose all data.
Can I use twrp using the same Rom?
use this method
==================LONG NOOB WARNING============================
Hi!
Recently I've just installed Lineage OS 18.1 on my phone
Phone: LG G2 (international[D802])
Current build is: lineage_d802_userdebug 11 RQ2A.210405 cd6fb8d05d ( lienage os 18.1 2021.04.29 Nightly )
So first I've switched from the original os (Android 5.0.2) the steps I've done:
1.: Rooted my phone via LG One-click Root what I found on the internet (https://www.dropbox.com/s/2shvozzbu29xjfu/LGG2-D802-OneClickRootRecoveryV1.1.zip?dl=0)
2.: installed TWRP recovery with TWRP manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager&hl=en), (https://www.gregtwallace.com/lg-g2/g2-twrp/?version=3.3.1-0#download-section)
3: downloaded Lineage Os build 18.1 20210422 and BitGapps
4: Installed both of 'em.
After these, I used my phone and I was happy, (i switched the recovery to lineage as it came on screen I didn't know I'll need twrp in the future) but just as soon as the newer (my current) build came out it notified me, and I started downloading it through the built-in updater (settings-system-updater)
First, it appeared to installed normally, so I basically left it to do its thing, but it turned out it won't boot (Couldn't load android), so I tried to install it again with ADB via built-in lineage recovery, it said it was successful, however, it didn't load so I formated the data within the recovery, and it immediately booted into the system. Now comes the part which i need help in (i wrote all this down to get a better view of the problem), so after i booted into LOS i noticed, that the gapps are gone.
I thought ok, it is how it is, then let's try and install them. So i downloaded the minimal ADB and fastboot program which as far as i know is enough to do simple installs. So i fired it up, went into lineage recovery and clicked install update with ADB (or however it is called, can't remember that ), and i wrote in the console ' adb sideload <bitgappsxversioncan'tremember>.zip' and it started to install but got me with:
"finding update package...
verifying update package..
update package verification took 2.7 s (result 0) .
Installing update...

-mounting /system
!cannot mount. Aborting----
-unmountig partitions

E: Error in /sideload/package.zip (status 7)
"
I took my time to make sure it's the right version (it is arm as my device run by arm, and it is R as Android 11 so i think it is for my os)
I'Ve thought ok, then maybe i'M doing something wrong, so why not just wipe all and restart again?
I noticed i have no root permission, so i have to get one, now as i know (correct me please if i'm wrong) LG oneclick root is for Kitkat and lollipop and stock firmware (?), so i looked up the internet and saw that lineage has removed the super user (root) option from the developer and have to install and addon (su package) to readd it. i thought, aight' let's do it then, i downloaded it and tried again via sideload on adb and from internal storage too (addonsu-16.0-arm-signed.zip), but the result was similar to my previous attack with gapps except it said
"
installing su addon...
set_metadata: Error on lstat of "/system/etc/init/superuser.rc": too many symbolic links encountered
E: Error in /sideload/package.zip (status 7)
"
Apart from these Lineage runs great, except hbo go wont work for some reason (chromecast library cant be reached or so), but I'm okay with that, and a huge thank you to the developer for the os!!
so my questions are:
Either way:
-can I root it somehow to be able to install TWRP, and start everything over and get Gapps?
- Can I install Gapps somehow without reinstalling recovery?
-in the official TWRP app there's no d802, which one should i download, or even should I download any different model (like American or d800,d803, etc.)
Apart from the previous question is there a way to upgrade lineage without losing data? (i read somewhere that sideload should be my choice is it true?)
Thank you if you've read this far, if you know any solution for me please share with me, I'd be really grateful!
have a nice day!
