I really don't want to go back to an iPhone, but my job depends on my being able to respond quickly to texts. Since 4.4.2, my phone has been silencing itself randomly throughout the day, requiring a reboot to successfully resolve the issue, albeit for maybe a couple of hours :/
Google has not been my friend, as I'm unable to find anyone else experiencing this issue.
To clarify: phone is rooted, happened before and after installing dynamic kat (which I thought might fix it,) all sliders are at max volume, phone is not on silent or vibrate, and hangouts and messaging both are affected. Help me keep my android!
Shameless bump, no luck so far :\
Hiya, are you religious at all by any chance? It's actually relevant to what I'm thinking about so don't worry

While a strange question to ask, (I assume related to the Bible app?) yes, I'm a music minister
Ok, have you got an app that sets your notifications to silent at specific times during the day? Like at certain prayer times or something like that?

I ended up backing up my apps with Titanium Backup and just restored the phone. So far it has been working! (with vibrate as well) Thanks for the tip though!

Is anyone else still having this issue. I'm having it as well. I'm running stock\rooted which i have debloated myself. Is there an app i removed that could cause it or and app I added that's causing the problem..What would cause your notification sound to stop playing in the middle. I wonder if deleting the stock music app would cause the issue...
Mine does this as well sometimes it just started happening randomly. Sometimes it works correctly, sometimes it doesn't.

Mine started doing this last night and has continued most of the time today as well. Haven't done anything yet other than change the tone to a different one and back to the other without any luck.
Mine does this too.

I get that, but that doesn't change what I'm talking about. If you're doing any of the things I've mentioned on the phone, it can get very hot and yes, it will turn itself off to protect itself from overheating. Your car and computer do the same things. Overclocking can also cause the phone to generate more heat than normal.
If you're trying to tell me that you're just talking on the phone, letting it sit idle on your desk, and/or looking at Facebook and you're reaching those temperatures, I A) find that hard to believe B) need to know more information to try and help you find out what's going on.
I get your trying to help me and I realize that but your firdt assumption in 100% correct. Yes. I find it hard to believe to but thats what happened

Did you ever try turning off wifi, Bluetooth, GPS separately to see which is causing the heat up. That level of heat sounds like a defect but it still would be isolated to a particular component. Should have checked the battery too.

You got a replacement, correct? Is the new one okay? It could have been a bad module or a bad contact not conducting properly. In any case it does seem like a rare thing. I actually love how this phone doesn't get very hot.

Hi there
First some specs:
Nexus 4
PA3.99-RC2
Franco.kernel.plus 188.
SuperSU root
Latest gapps
I have tried asking in the the Paranoid Android Google+ discussion forum, but no useful answers yet. This is x-posted in general Q&A forum as well, to see if other devices also have this.
The problem:
When I use my phone I get random glitchy/clicky sounds from the top speaker (I'm pretty sure it's from there). It's a very quick glitch/click, and then it stops. It doesn't happen in a specific pattern, meaning that it's not like it comes whenever I press the back button or anything - it just happens sometimes. Sometimes more often than other. When I try to recreate the sounds (tapping a lot of menus, settings, apps, etc.) I find it difficult to recreate. It is REALLY random, perhaps mostly after I haven't used my phone for a while, and I turn it on!
Have anyone tried this, and knows a solution? It didn't annoy me at first, but now it really does.
As far as I remember it started when I upgraded to PA3.99. However, I have tried RC-1 and RC-2 and I have also tried stock kernel, Hellscore kernel and different Franco-kernel versions.

Just like you, I've noticed the noise but it sounds to me like its coming from the loud speaker. It doesn't happen that often and its hard to reproduce the sound (like you said). By the way I'm complete stock/unrooted with a lock bootloader. Hopefully its a software glitch and not hardware since the speakers don't sound busted.

Okay, it sounds like it could be the same thing. I don't think my speakers are busted either.. I guess the sound would come more often if that was the case.
It could be from the loud speaker.. Because it's so hard to reproduce, I can't really test it.
I would just love for it to go away.
Unfortunately I've never tested this phone with any other ROM other than 4.3 (Jwr66y) so I don't even know if it's a software glitch. Hopefully it is though.

Since we're experiencing what seems to be the same thing; I would think it most likely is a software thing. But I don't understand why - and why there isn't more people reporting this.....which makes me think I've done something wrong, hence the cry for help
Maybe some people don't notice it. It's not that much noticeable. The first few times I heard it I thought I was hearing things.

Yeah, maybe. I also only notice when there's not any other noise around me. Like when I'm laying in bed, etc.

Yes I have it on my N4!! I also had it with my i9300 and my Nexus S. Very subtle. Glad I'm not the only one

I'm also having the same thing with Paranoid 3.98. Didn't have it on my Nexus S though.
Is anyone else having the problem where the owner information is not appearing on the lock screen? (not the personal message, that is working ok for me)
Mine will be there after a reboot, but sometime over the next few hours it will stop appearing on the lock screen. A reboot will make I appear again.
Not sure if it is an app conflict or a system bug that may get fixed in a future update.
Thanks,
Rich

Yes, I'm having the same problem. My info stays for a couple of days or so after a reboot, then it just disappears. I was wonder if that was my phone's way of telling me it's time for a reboot, but I was doing a search on it in case there was something else to keep it from happening. Right now I'm treating it like a "Check Engine" light.
Weird, it happens to mine as well.. I didn't notice until I read this thread and had a look! Very strange..
Just in case you weren't already aware. The "OK Google" hot word detection apparently breaks the ability to record video. It makes the camera app think your on a call. Kinda crazy. I hope it's something on the Google end and they fix it. I was using it for the last day and LOVED it!

Are you sure Google should fix this? Seems to me more like lg job (or our mod devs). The Google camera video recording works. Anyway thanks for the info!

Downloaded Google Camera from the Play Store and it works. So, guess it's a mod problem.

I've found the issue is with on screen phone. Turn off on screen phone and OK Google hot word detection works but no video recording with stock camera app (the Google camera app will record). Turn on screen phone on and video recording works fine but OK Google hot word stops working. Very strange.

Semi on topic, but this also breaks the alarm when the phone is plugged in. The phone thinks that you are on a phone call, so it doesn't let the alarm fire with sound.

It's not strange really. Always listening makes the phone think you're in a phone call. Alarms don't go off when you're talking on the phone. This is an oversight in design.

Does the nexus have the same issue? LG phone and all. I'm guessing it's an LG issue but who knows. At least it's easy to switch between modes by turning on screen phone on or off.
