Sorry if this is a noob question but will running an old bootloader (say 4.4.2 NA6) with a newer official rom (like 4.4.2 NE4) allow me to downgrade using Mobile Odin Pro?
And if thats the case, are there likely to be any performance issues with running an old bootloader with a new firmware?
KitKat boatloader works on all KitKat roms. Is good to update to latest boatloader to match the rom but no biggie if not.

so then will i be able to downgrade from newer roms to older roms with mobile odin (seeing as it doesnt touch the bootloader) if i have the oldest KitKat bootloader installed?

I currently have 4.2.2 with the old bootloader on i9505. I would like to keep it Knox free, but would also like
to try a newer rom. Is there a rom that is as close as possible to stock Samsung 4.3 (obviously
without Knox or new bootloader)?

Which modem would suit the PDA: XXUEML6 version? The same one that came with XXUEML6 in stock? I have heard conflicting reports about different modem versions playing not so nice and its better to match them with what came with stock rom?
I assume also that XXUEML6 WiFi_FIX will need to be flashed via Odin after flashing a modem?
clarification
So do you mean without knox and without bootloader or do you mean or do you mean without knox but with a bootlaoder as it is the older bootloader that i am trying to find for i9505. i understand some forums say you cannot roll back the firmware from 4.4.2 to 4.2. I however am having the screen rotation problem with the new 4.4.2 so i'm trying to find a way and one way might be to install a custom rom with old bootloader via CWM install zip function to replace the new 4.4.2 bootloader. This will then allow me to roll back the firmware to an older version and kill my screen rotation problems.

Hi ,
Once you upgrade your bootloader is not possible to go back to 4..2.2 (or 4.3)
You upgrade your bootloader if:
Flash a stock rom 4.3 and higher
you do not upgrade your bootloader if:
root , install custom recovery and flash a custom rom , there are a few good rom based in samsung stock 4.3 and 4.4.2 you can try them see if you like them and if you don't you can always flash stock 4.2.2 and be as you were
Ok, so essensialy i can't downgrade the bootloader to 4.2.
but a official 4.2.2 firmware (without knox) will work on a 4.4 bootloader ??? (again i don't care about knox working or not)

It has been done to 4.3 in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744061
they have flashed a 4.3 ROM without bootloader over a 4.4 ROM so the result is a 4.3 rom with a 4.4 bootloader

HI ,
Mate if you flash with Odin or OTA (kies) you will change the bootloader , ok? so once you have a 4..4 bootloader installed there is no way to install back a 4,2,2 stock ( official ) firmware , 4.4.2 official firmware includes 4.4.2 bootloader and flashing an older bootloader than the one you have is not possible (yet)
your options are:
4.2.2 bootloader
stay there do nothing
Upgrade to official 4.4 and not be able to downgrade to 4.2.2 official
root , install CWM and install any custom rom you want ( 4.2.2 , 4.3 or 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 ) and if you do not like any of them go back to official 4.2.2
Once you upgrade to official 4.4.2 there is no way to go back to official 4.2.2 , the only way to go back to 4.2.2 would be with a custom rom

No . I did not say that
Once you are in an official 4.4.2 firmware , the only way to use a 4.2.2 rom would be by flashing an un official 4.2.2 custom rom

It depends... on what is your current firmware and what firmware you want to fallback...
It depends on your bootloader. If you're on 4.4.2, then most likely your boot loader is also 4.4. If that's the case, then no, you can't go back to 4.3.
Just out of curiosity, why would you want to? Much has been improved from 4.3 to 4.4, and we also have 5.0 now, which is an entirely new creature...
as the title says... is it working if i flash official lollipop via odin and downgrade it to official kitkat.

Hello,
Yes it is possible to downgrade from an official Molitor to an official kitkat (the latest).
I do it, when the flash is end and the mobile show the logo Samsung
You can put out the battery, reboot to the recovery and wipe all user data.
Before do that save all your data.
It's an official administrator from Samsung who say me do so.
Hope that can help you.

Isn't the bootloader required to flash the ROM?
I'm very afraid of trying stock lollipop. I was on Temasek's CM12 build but I had abysmal batterylife. This was probably not attributed to Temasek's build but rather to CM12 as a whole, so I went back to my nandroid containing Crash Rom V19 on kitkat 4.4.2 and I literally have less than 1% drain per hour with the phone idle. I love this batterylife, and I feel I'd like to try and see if stock lollipop TW will give me the same but I would like the option to go back to kitkat if it's worse. I like lollipop a lot but the promise of batterylife seems to hit and miss, makes me stay on kitkat.
I know Crash Rom has a lollipop version, but beside this, which ROM is the MOST stock with the least amount of modifications?
Hey guys, my question is there:
Its possible to downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 ?
I have been reading alot of threads with similar question but i gives to many answer.
Im on a rooted 4.4.2 and i will just back to 4.2.2 because i will a !!completely!! Knox free rom and bootloader.
I dont care about the warrenty, my is run out.
I dont will not only a downgraded rom but also a downgraded bootloader.
When someone have trying a to downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 please post here the result.
When a downgrade to 4.4.2 is not possible than which is the lowest firmware which i can flash?
Please try to keep the thread clear and give a usefull answer. Thank you guys
And please dont kill me for my english :good:
Once the bootloader has been upgraded to a Knox-enabled version, you cannot downgrade it. The ROM can be downgraded regardless of the bootloader, but running a Knox-free ROM with a Knox-enabled bootloader will result in a "Kernel is not SEAndroid Enforcing" message to appear on the splash screen every time the device is rebooted.
Okay too Bad...
A question more, i have been reading that a downgrade (Rom+Bootloader) is possible to 4.3, because there have the same Bootloader but just less aggressiv. Is that true?
When yes you can share a stock samsung rom 4.3 without knox?
Thank you for the answer
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
You can downgrade with a custom 4.2.2 rom. You just need to look for one.
Okay that i understand but can i downgrade the Bootloader to 4.3? Because there is similar to our one.

Can we use official ROM
Can we downgrade without using Custom ROM?
If we unpack Official tar ROM and remove the bootloader and modem of it and then repack it to tar.
Can that downgrade the Android version from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2?
Or it is not working?

It's possible to downgrade to stock 4.2.2 but a custom kernel such as KT-SGS4 will probably be needed to get the WiFi working.
Simply reinstalling the 4.2.2 modem files using Odin should be sufficient to get the WiFi working. No need of a custom kernel. It is also possible to downgrade the ROM without going through the routine of unpacking and repacking the ROM. Simply flash it through Odin, although you'd need to flash the modem files a second time to get the radios fully functional, as previously mentioned. Just be aware that the bootloader will not change, so every time you boot the 4.2.2 ROM with the Knox-enabled bootloader you will get a message on the splash screen about the kernel not being in enforcing mode.
I have trying this:
I take a orginal XXUBMF8 4.2.2 delete inside the zip bootloader and some other files repack back to .tar
Flash it all fine but then the error, the software is not authorized and on the top secure fail: kernel.
I tried flash a custom 4.2.2 kernel through odin but the same result.
My DL Modus look so: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93311676/DSC_0014.JPG
Now i get back to 4.4.2 GNG8
