Hi,
I just flashed my Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 from Android 4.3 to 4.4 with ParanoidAndroi ROM.
Eveyrthing work just fine except one thing : I can't unlock my SIM !
When I start the pone, a prompt ask me the PIN, and when I submit it, the wheel just turns, nothing happens.
I can access the phone when I set plane mode then reboot, but I have no mobile network (no SMS / Phone call etc.) :/
I tried to disable PIN security in the build.prop file by setting keyguard.no_require_sim=true, doesn't change anything.
I have this SIM for 3 years now, the phone is definitly not sim locked for this operator.
Anyone has an idea?
You flashed from 4.3 stock, or 4.3 custom??

4.3 stock
My baseband is I9300XXUGNA7
Try:
1. Reflashing Stock and see if the SIM is still working without unlock.
2. If yes; don't flash PA.
3. if No, that means it was locked, you need to get in contact with your service provider in order to unlock your phone; or buy a code off eBay.

Hi,
I came accross this problem that it's driving me nuts. Any help would be much appreciated.
DEVICE
L5 e612f - originally SIM locked to Telcel Mexico - trying to make it work with Spanish SIM and networks.
Rooted
Unlocked bootloader
Installed CWM recovery
Installed CM10.1 - also tried latest CM10 nightly 7/7/2013 and a stock LG Rom -> I experience the same problem
PROBLEM IN SHORT
The phone is SIM locked to Telcel Mexico.
I thought that rooting/unlocking bootloader/using a custom ROM would allow me to use other SIM but I don't know if I'm right.
Anyway, if I try to sim unlock it with a purchased code, I can't because the phone won't prompt me for an unlock code, either by using a non-allowed sim or using the codes for my phone.
Could this be because I'm not longer in Mexico and I'm using the device in Roaming mode?
For more details, please check hidden text.
MORE DETAILS
The phone will only search for and connect to networks if the original sim is inside. With another SIM, the phone won't detect or connect to any carriers.
If I put another SIM it won't give any error... it asks for the normal sim PIN and logs into the system, but no network is available.
The phone won't say the SIM is not allowed or ask me for an unlocking code it with a non original SIM
The codes to SIM unlock doesn't seem to work, I tried:
2945#*612#
2945#*71001#
2945#*610#
but the dialer returns
'USSD Code running'
and finally
''Connection problem or invalid MMI code'
With the original (Telcel Mexico) SIM everything goes OK.
With an Orange SIM from Spain, the phone asks for the normal SIM pin when I turn it on, then logs into the system and it won't connect to any network.
If I go to Settings - Wireless & Network - More - Mobile Networks - Network operators
a message pops in saying - 'Error while searching for networks'
The same message pops in if I tap on 'Search Networks'
If I tap into 'Choose Automatically' the phone says 'Registered on network', but the signal is still 0 and no carrier is selected.
If I tap into 'Choose Automatically' again, the phone returnns 'The sim card doesn't allow a connection to this network' after a minute or so saying 'Automatic Registration'
Extra data
With CM10 Nightly 7/7/2013 the phone has the same issue even with the original SIM inside
With stock Rom, I have the same issue as with CM10.1 (only works with original sim)
So my questions are:
1) Is my phone SIM locked even after unlocking bootloader + custom ROM?
2) If it is SIM locked, why is it allowing me to log with another SIM instead of showing a typical 'sim locked' message
3) If it's SIM locked, could I unlock it with a purchased code in Roaming mode... if so... how?
4) If I revert to an original Telcel firmware would it ask me for the unlocking code?
5) Tried adb fastboot oem unlock but the phone reboots and gets stuck into the fastboot screen - could this be a corrupted bootloader issue?
Many thanks in advance

Ok, I solved the issue so I'm leaving my answer here, in case someone ever has the same problem.
The problem with SIM lock is that CM doesn't work with the sim unlocking codes.
So to SIM unlock you have to revert to any original/stock firmware, unlock the sim, then you can use a custom firmware.
And SIM unlocking works with roaming... meaning that you don't even have to be in the original country/network to unlock.

My Telcel 612F is on original firmware with an orginal sim but when I dial 2945#*612 nothing comes up.
I heard you can flash an unbranded firmware to unlock, but I can't seem to find an unbranded firmware for 612F.
is there a way to unlock this phone?

Hi
I flashed the firmware from this website - http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=12
And it worked like a charm. I used v20A. Also check the code which is 2945#*612# and then the dial button.
Good luck!

Hi metriod... that's the one that I've flashed and worked for me. It is branded to Telcel tough, but after sim unlocking you can root and install any mod of your choice.

A question you got the unlock code from the SIM directly with your carrier or with any app in particular?
Thanks in advance
Una pregunta donde obtuviste el codigo de liberacion de la SIM, directo con tu operador o con alguna app en particular?
De antemano gracias, si no esta bien en ingles, es la traduccion de google
Finally it works!!!
This worked for me as well, I spent a whole day triying to fix this issue, aparently THE ONLY WAY THAT THE UNLOCK MENU WILL COME UP is by using the 250 TCL/TELCEL(MEXICO) 20A LGE612F 356.47 MiB firmware.
I wanted also to share some knowledge that I gathered today.
After you flash this firmware, you will not be able to downgrade to any V10XXX.kdz. This includes the one that unlocks the bootloader and enables clockworkmod recovery menu V10D_unlock.kdz. The only way that I´ve found to overcome this was by using a kdz file designed to downgrade, is called V10D_downgrade.kdz that I´ve found over the net. I have a mediafire link but Im not shure if I can post it here.
DO NOT GET SCARED IF YOU CAN NOT GET INTO DOWNLOAD MODE no more (I almost cry), this is also caused by this firmware, instead of pressing vol+ and vol- while connecting to usb, just press vol- and connect the usb cable the use the V10D_downgrade.kdz if you want to downgrade or simply install cyanogen mod.
Regards.

I offer a little more knowledge from what bafler said, for someone that can't downgrade the firmware from 4.1.2 original stock v20 to 4.0.3 stock v10, the trick is to root and install both CWM and Bootloader, then install a CM based rom, wait until its finished and booted up, enter in CWM menu and install a v10 baseband patch to downgrade it, see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2275969. Before that patch and doing some full wipes, you can flash the original stock firmware based on ICS with KDZ, using with the phone off Vol+ and Vol-, and connect the USB cable.
Hope it can save someone, was the only method that works for me. So sorry for my english, im from chile.
Hi, i am new one to xda ..
I have a Galaxy s4 I9505 with "sim network unlock pin dismiss" Unlocking Problem.
i install Android lollipop(UK) rom to s4. before install lollipop i had this problem'
I tired trying carrier Unlock Methord [*0011#]. but it dosnt work for me. That menu isnt work in my device.
I am from sri lanka. in Asia. How can i fix this. Waiting for replies. thanx
The service menu unlocking method was patched in 4.3 and later, thus it's no surprise that you have no menu.
Given you upgraded to lollipop, your option is to purchase an unlock code online and hope it works.
You can go back to ROM 4.2 and redo the *#0011#, or if I'm not mistaken, the patch is in the modem, not the ROM itself, so try to flash the "early" modem (ex : I9505XXUAMDN) that you can find here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39176955#post39176955 and then do the *#0011#
Another method that could work (if the *#0011# failed) : use RegionLock Away (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551), also with 4.2 ROM (or ealry modem), you need to root to use this app.
The thing about RegionLock Away and the service menu unlocking methods is that neither is guaranteed to stick if you upgrade. At least if he pays for the code he's unlikely to ever have to worry about it again. That said, I've recommended RegionLock Away in the past, when Android 5.0.1 was not yet out. With that version now available I'm holding off. I'm concerned that Samsung changed the modem in such a way as to guarantee restoring the lock on an upgrade. Perhaps the OP could serve as a test case.
I'm using a "modified" modem using RegionLock Away and can confirm that it works well after upgrade to Lollipop but as I said, RegionLock Away only works with "early" modem, one must first reflash the old modem, patch with RegionLock Away, and then can freely upgrade modem & ROM, the unlock will stay ^^
i all to everyone don't know if this is correct in putting this post here . I have a Samsung galaxy s4 i9505 locked to ee tried a ×#0011#. And tried the long number to enter service mode. I can change it to 1. But I don't get the other menu to pop up. I've had an idea. I have tried looking for this method and I'm 50/50 weather it will work or not. As this as phone has got ee branded phone. If I installed a custom firmware btu version black edition . What the chances of unlocking it via the method above or would this phone still know in it a ee phone what are your thoughts regards James. I don't want to root the phone. I'm quite happy to put a btu black edition on the phone . I have used odin in the past on my old i9505 but that phone was already unlocked
Changing firmware will not unlock the phone. To get the proper menu to appear you have to downgrade the modem (or firmware) to Android 4.2.2, then use the service menu. If the service menu does not work, your only other alternative is to root while the modem is downgraded and run RegionLock Away.

Many thanks for your reply. So if I down grade my firmware to 4.2.2 btu so I can enter the service menu . Are you saying this mite work 50/50
I did the downgrade myself when I lost my SIM unlock. The service menu worked but I messed up somewhere and failed to unlock. RegionLock Away worked perfectly.

Dont know if this will help you but after *#0011# press back then key input and type Q0 instead of 1. wait a few seconds and should take you to the menu.
Hi people my motherboard burned so i went to change it. They changed it. Phone came with KitKat. I cant flash any rom. Even with Odin. Flash is succesfull but phone says Emergency Calls Only. I updated modem to latest lollipop version no luck again. I send my phone to repair service again he fixed it without touching firmware, bootloader and modem.Any chance flash rom?
That happened 2 months ago. But i missed flashing.
The problem isn't with flashing a ROM via Odin. The problem is that the replacement motherboard is still locked to its carrier. With "Emergency Calls Only" on the lock screen, the first thing you should see on the screen after unlocking the phone is a gray screen asking for an unlock code. Something your repair tech should have taken care of before returning the phone to you. Your options.
1. Get your tech to unlock the phone.
2. Purchase an unlock code and use it.
3. Downgrade the modem to an Android 4.2.2 version long enough to run RegionLock Away, then flash an updated modem.
Whatever you do, if you're getting a prompt to enter an unlock code, DO NOT randomly enter numbers. Too many attempts with the wrong number and the phone will be permanently locked to its carrier.
1 - Where i can purchase code ? I mean which website is safe?
2 - How can i get that gray screen that asks me code?
By the way im using phone right now without problem. Repair service fixed it but didnt unlocked it i think. And i should say i cant flash custom roms too. CM , RR etc.
Thank you.
The language barrier may be causing issues here. Let's make sure we're on the same page here.
What happens when you try flashing a ROM through Odin?
Does a gray screen with a prompt for an unlock code appear when unlocking the screen?
Are you able to make any calls other than emergency calls?
When i flash rom via odin ; flash is succesfull i setup phone language , name , gmail etc. Then i enter my sim lock. Everything is fine to this point. After sim lock i see "emergency calls only" No mobile data , no sms , no calls.
No gray screen doesnt appear.
Try a different SIM, or get a replacement.
I'll when i can im at holiday now. I'll try it when i return from holiday. Will post result.
Good evening friends, I have a question about a problem that I have not been able to solve. My S4 version 9505 is free from factory and so it has been for 10 months (I bought it used and that's what they told me) and suddenly in a normal restart it gave me a screen before the launcher that says Unblock or continue ... after that It says that I have a simcard with network blocking. Use Lineage 14.1 and go back to lollipop 5.0.1 stock to see if that solved it but it was not like that. I have imei intact but it is blocked by network.
i would be grateful to who can help me
Thank you
You can try to unlock it by flashing a 4.2.2 mode, root, run regionlockaway, flash stock 5.01 ROM, and see if the phone is network unlocked.
You will not be able to use the menu option listed in this thread but there are some helpful posts: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683

Hello
Your phone is not locked, the SIM card is. Have you set up a pin for the SIM card and forgotten?.....Try another SIM card in the phone to check.
The message that appears on the original post is the same screen I received with my locked sgh-i337m before I unlocked it using regionlockaway.

I did it exactly like that, but it did not work
Not sure why it didn't work since other XDA members have had success with the method I outlined.

imei null when flashing modem I9505_XXUAME2_MODEM.tar
I had to flash a stock ROM again and the imei was recovered, but I still have network blocking
The IMEI goes null because you are flashing a 4.2.2 modem onto a phone with a 5.01 bootloader and flashing the latest modem will restore the imei.
If you followed the steps I outlined and the phone is still network locked, you will need to buy and unlock code.
I'm sorry I had not been able to answer for days.
I could unlock the phone as follows: Install via ODIN I9505XXSHQB1_I9505OLBHOH1_I9505XXSHQB1_HOME.tar then install the modem: I9505DVUAMD8_MODEM.tar, then root, and use Galaxy Unlock app.
I thank all those who helped me here and took the trouble to answer my post.
