hello
I know that this topic was raised thousands of times but I still I can not do anything about it.
For example, wants to play need for speed most wanted but LG L5 is not enough space to install it or give me someone a proven way to substitution on the internal memory of the outer or something? I have a little over 1GB free after removing everything and there is a need 2gb help! Top thanks for the help
If you are running stock, you cant really do anything... if CM10/10.1/11 try this:
settings > memory settings > "function" soft key > ??memory management?? (cant tell - Im running sdmerge) >swap internal with external memory or smthing similiar then reboot, it should result in INTERNAL memory size of ur SD and external of 1gb

Goto settings, main, click on the link at the bottom to find large files using storage memory. It's also worth reviewing what apps you have installed to main memory and see which of them might be removed and installed to your storage card.
What operating system are you running? ROM/RADIO/SPL?
see here, maybe it will help:

hello i am using stock desire rom on my hd2 and i wanna maximize the internal memory. i already partition my sd at 1024mb ext3 and nothing. i also downloaded rom manager and try to partiotionining my sd from there and nothing.
what should i do ?
i also had rafdroid 2.3 and it was working with 1024mb shared memory but the rom was tooo laggy
thanks
no one ? gosh pls help me
Need help w/ this too, please rply..! I saw that it is possible to extend int. memory w/ SD in a thread on a site called allshadow, but it went down, can't get to the tutorial and I srsly need to do sth about it. I'm pretty sure it's already somewhere posted (even if not on this forum), but can't help finding it for a while now, couldn't just someone post a link or sth? With huge amount of gratitude forward...
Are you using cwr? Cause if you are the smaller you make system data the more internal memory you will have. But Partition sizes should be in the op of the rom you are flashing.
Hello Guys!
Searched the whole day for a solution bút nothing really answers my questions, so i will post here.
Is there any chance of moving apps from DeviceMemory (2GB) to the internal USB-Storage (11GB). I tried to use App2SD and tried it with the Android Onboard Tool but nothing will do it. It just keeps moving to external SD.
When the external SD is removed and you try to move an app there is just the advice: "not enough memory".
Addition: My memory option in settings looks like this:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/120513/3rhplf49.png
Total Memory: ~11GB
Other Data (red) - will show what u really use PLUS the amount of the external SD card
Is that the Problem that the OS thinks like in this Pic the USB Storage is too full (more full than its total size ^^) and let you only move to external SD?
Ok, long story short: Is there a way to move apps to the internal USB Storage?
Thanks!
Have you looked to see what's on you're internal sd? Remember that it won't be wiped by a normal ROM flash unless you specify, so data will build up flash by flash.
Sorry, I know it sounds pedantic, but first thing to try.
what spec phone do you have?

If i move an app from applications in settings with the command "move to SD" i will see in the Storage overview that the device Storage gets smaller and the storage from external SD gets bigger.. The USB-Storage (internal SD) stay the same.
The path for the files were /mnt/asec (?) there i found some files..
And the thing with non wipe and data: Got my Note as off. ICS LPY was released and flashed it out of the box with ICS. There is nothing from older roms..
What do you mean with Spec Phone? I have a Austrian Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with official ICS LPY on it running..
PS: The problem with apps cant move to internal storage is also on Galaxy S2 present.
Can anyone try to move apps from device to the internal storage? I think that its a bug in ICS.
First things first, I would recommend downgrading to stock GB, check out Dr. ketans thread in the stickies of the ROM development thread.
It seems unlikely, but since your on lpy, there's a possibility that your data is corrupt, have to say am not sure about this at all.
There's also a thread about the issues with lpy, lpf kernel that's worth reading from abisahara.
Please, anyone else have any further recommendations, please ignore me.

------
double-post sorry..
First of all thanks for your attempt to help me out.
But whats the sense of downgrading? And nope, data isn´t corrupt can move things from pc to the phone without any problem, everthing is OK.
The only problem is to move Apps to internal USB-Storage (11GB) that wont work. There are others too with this problem and their phone never touched custom rom or anything, just the official ICS OTA Update.
Btw. i remeber i saw peopole with Galaxy S2 with the same problem on the net.
You have a Note too - try it for yourself to move apps from Device Mem (2GB) to Internal USB.Storage (11GB). I bet it wont work. Its not a special problem to me i think its a general problem.
Also is the data corruption not an effect from wiping? Havent wiped my phone yet one time..
regards.
Data corruption occurs from any large data movement, weather it's wipe, or deleting large files, there's suggestion that 2GB is the danger point but I experienced issues after writing a 500mb file that started fcs across the board.
I'm more than likely overreacting and apologies for this. Maybe someone with more experience can help better.

Hey.
Just forget the data corruption, man! I´m fine with this till now and that doenst belong to my problem..
I just want to put some apps (e.g angry birds) to my internal USB Storage and that dont work i only can move apps to the real external SD, other people have the problem too and i want to know if this is on all ICS releases from Samsung with splitted memory??
@Jaysus88, I understand your problem and frustration since I have the exactly same problem and frustration. After some search, I feel the problem may be because some phone manufacturers disabled the "Move to USB storage" capability. BTW, my phone is Samsung Galaxy Note-N7000 with ICS.
I just registered the account to share potential solutions. I was suggested two solutions (I haven't got chance to try them myself yet):
1. Root the system and somehow re-partition the internal storage to increase "Device memory" (and shrink "USB storage").
2. Add an actual SD card and "Move to SD card" instead of "Move to USB storage".
(just realized that new users cann't post links :-( )
Both 1 and 2 have limitations that I don't know for sure:
For 1, is it really possible to re-size the storage partitions after rooting the phone?
For 2, ICS may not support some SD cards; moving too many apps to SD card may also cause rebooting issues for Android (we can easily find a lot of complaints about this issue, such as the Android issue id 25563 on google code).
If you find another more robust solution, I would love to hear about it! This is another reason I registered my account.
Hi!
Found that in Themes & Apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652079
This will change the mounting points for external and internal SD. It should work.
For myself i leave it as it is.
rooted htc desire 816 dual sim, but still didn't get 8 gb internal. its frustrating.... any suggestion ....... how to get back 8 gb internal
The 8 gig internal storage is shared with system.... So you will nevet get 8 . Try with link2sd and microSD card

Rooting doesnt provides empty system memory!
I warn you do not delete any files in system folder unless you know what it does.
You will end up bricking your device
Google everything before making changes with device in root folders.

If you will use your sd-card as internal storage then you must edit your build.prop.
You need ROOT on your LG G3
- open build.prop
- scroll down to "ro.lge.adoptable_storage=false" and change FALSE in TRUE
- save build.prop
- reboot phone
- go to "Settings" --> "General" --> "Storage & USB" --> "Portable Storage"
- select sdcard "random numbers and letters"
- select the three dots --> "Setting"
- apply "Format as internal"
- thats all
Tested with stock marshmallow 30B on D855 32GB.

Anyone tried it? Any possible feedback about this mod? Is this require class 10 msd card?

Please be aware that, Formatting the SD Card as Internal, turns your removable/external SD Card option into a more or less permanent (and no longer removable) part of the device.
If you choose Internal, things change. I believe the Card is formatted as a local encrypted EXT4 drive and mounted as part of the system. It's then set as the preferred storage, and you're prompted to move data over. Newly generated data is placed on the adopted storage by default.
If you try to remove it, things will probably/defiitely go haywire.

True. I don't recommend it though. Think system gets slow when using sd card as internal. I foresee hundreds of topics here on xda with MM is crap, apps are missing, this rom is so slow/laggy just as in my HTC Desire days when everybody used sd card as internal because of the little system space the desire had (150mb or something like that you could expand it to 1 or 2 gb if i remember correctly).

Ahh.... The days of the HTC Desire Bravo, my phone of choice at the time, whatever happened to Ext4 recovery....
I totally agree, keep away from SD Internal and get the App Developers to use Adoptable Storage.....:good:
Worked perfectly!
I tried it with the 64gb microSD XC card i just bought and now i have ~74gb of internal memory, thanks!
By the way, searching for the build prop line there was another one that said "persist.splitwindowsupport_all=false"
do you think that changing that value to true would bring multi window support for all apps? Thats a feature i used in my s4 ( via Xposed i think) and would like to have it in my 5.5 screen =D
If it doesn't work no biggie xD
Once again thank you! ^^

It's work
I followed the same steps as listed using Build Prop Editor. Then converted sd card storage to internal. However, my internal storage still reads 25 gb! I had a 128 gb class 10 high speed lexar card. It was also not showing up on terminal emulator through the "free -m" command. How to check where memory has gone? Thanx
Changed the build prop to false and redid everything. Works fine. Thanx

Well I wanted to increase my ram via sdcard through ramexpander. This was my usual routine. But Marshmallow nixed that and ramexpander was not able to write to sd card. So I edited build prop as shown in one of the threads and formatted my card to internal. Though ramexpander does not work, I have used swapper and voila! it was successful. I was able to verify swap through terminal emulator. Also increased clock speed. Now working well. I have found this method to be flawless when flashed properly. Trick is to flash all the zips and only then reboot. I read that the other method has issues.
android no boot

Same problem here...
Restore your build.prop copy or twrp copy of the /system partition or flash the whole system
Now that the G3 has marshmallow officially, you do not need root. You can change adoptable storage setting to True using ADB.
I even split my sd card into part adoptable (internal) and part portable (external).

Do you need root to do this?
All I've seen so far is that root is temporary on Marshmallow. So I would assume this change would revert back after I reboot my phone?
If you don't need root... could you post the steps and adb commands to enable it?
Thanks!
I used this as a guide.

What the benifit of this over just keeping it as removable storage?

It's supposed to be so you can move (some, not all) apps 2 SD card.
The problem is it does not automaitcally move the app to the card. You still have to move it manually. Also, when you update on Google Play, the app moves back to the internal storage.
It's not perfect and hopefully Android N improves this.
Is it for everyone? No. Some people do use it but some don't need it. Just leaving it "Portable"/External as it has been for years, still works fine.
I just did it because I can.
