If you dont want to go through the start button or use voice commands, launchers such as Wear Mini Launcher can add an "App Drawer" for faster access.

Try Swipify. It's the most advance and performance driven Wear launcher. It works great on Moto360 too.

Wear Mini Launcher. Best app out there for Wearables.

Bringing an old post to life, give wLauncher a try.

Not work on sony z3!

Gampad default app

Hello in pretty new to android in general but I know how to do a bit of tinkering especially on ios and I was wondering if there is a way to change what app opens(could be something really obvious as I Sao in new to android) for example when uses out the game pad I want the playstation pocket app to open.
Cheers tony
So no one knows?
So no one can tell me if it is even possible or not, please just asking for an answer
The XPERIA Play launcher app opens up based on a setting in the app that detects the controller slide out. If the PS Pocket app has that option press the menu button and see if its there. Otherwise theres nothing in the OS that tells it to do this so you're SOL.

Is this running application or recently used applications?

Recent applications but you can swipe to close them.
Those are the recently used apps, even if I force close them they are still there.

ok they are recently used apps based on the comments. not necessarily running apps. Because sometimes this list grow so big, if so many running apps memory would blow into pieces.

Run the Walkman app and play some music. Come out of the app and then close it. See if the music stops

how do you close it? Just by hitting the return key? I dont think you can say stop play has terminated the app. It appears that would depend on each application. i.e. spoitfy will keep playing when you run other apps but youtube will stop playing immediately as soon as i switch or sleep. But they would still be running in the background. I read somewhere that the android OS makes its ultimate decision to when to close the app based on current memory usage and other factors.

No, what I mean is, you can check to see whether swiping them away closes the app or just removes it from the recent apps tray.
If you open the Walkman app and start playing music, hit the home button (the music keeps playing obviously) open the recent apps tray and swipe away Walkman. If the music stops, the app has been closed. If it doesn't, it has just removed it as a recent app.

Get Motoactv alerts as a pop up rather than in the status bar?

I want to get my hangouts notifications as an alert so that when I shake my wrist to check the time, I actually see them unlike where I used to need to pull the status bar down. No icons show up in my status bar unlike in standard android.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that will do what you are asking is Augmented Smartwatch pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alk.k9
You can configure pop-ups for all notification types with this app.
Before I buy this, do I need to have this on my phone? I'm using my watch standalone on wifi. Could I have it be connected to its self with the app?

No, this app pairs to the phone. I don't know of any standalone options for hangouts popups. Perhaps there is an app on the market? Unfortunately, I do not use hangouts............I just like popups for text messages which I get through Tablet Talk paired to my phone (only works for calls/mms/sms).

It's not specifically Hangouts, I just want every notification to show as an alert like in Augmented Smartwatch, but stand alone.

[Guide] How to use EMUI 5's App Twin Feature on ANY Launcher

XDA Portal Editor here, and I'm back with another tutorial.
Last week, I showed you how to clone any app/game with the App Twin feature: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-clone-any-application-with-emuis-app-twin-feature-no-root/
Now, I'm here to show you how to use the App Twin feature on any launcher: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-use-emuis-app-twin-feature-on-any-launcher/
Combine both tutorials and you'll now be able to clone any app and use any launcher that you want. Cheers!
Why can I hit the thanks button only once!? I'm applauding!
Works perfectly. THANKS!

Works perfectly. THANKS!
I'd like to share an another method. Since my cloned app won't be use that often, I use QuickShortcutMaker to browse all the app (or use favorite menu, open that app and press on "Try" button). This way, it is more tedious, but you won't waste any screen space.
Hi, thanks for sharing this!
however, it seems other app interact with the 'cloned app' as a whole with the original app.
I tried locking the app, say eg; whatsapp. I locked whatsapp and the cloned app is also lock. cant find a workaround to just lock either 1 and leave the other unlocked.
I'm using AppLock btw.

That's unfortunately just a result of how App Twin works.

Use Google Pay without opening the app

Hello fellow android wear users,
I got my new Galaxy Watch 4 last week and paid with google pay a couple of times.
What really bothers me is the fact, that I have to open the app first.
Is there any known way to get around this?
Using double press for the home key to launch the app is not an option, I am already using a different app there.
If there is no way to achieve this, does anyone know if there is a way to map long press home button or double back button to start an app?
Any help is really appreciated!
Regards

You can map the double press home to Google pay in the wear app or watch settings.
