The problem relates to another device, but is associated with the Nexus 7 2012 - that's why I would like to ask this question here. Of course I was looking at other forums, but found nothing.
Nexus 7 WiFi (version 2012) has a very similar hardware configuration to the Galaxy Galapad G1 (http://en.galapad.net/product.html) or Nabi 2. Both devices (G1 & N7) have a Tegra 3, 1GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, 8 or 16GB FLASH, GPS... They differ in screen resolution and probably something else. My Galapad has unlocked bootloader, kernel version is 3.1.10, I have access to fastboot, but can't install any TWRP or CWM.
I wonder if it is possible to use ROM from Nexus on Galapad G1? The latest version of Android for Galapad is old 4.1, the Nexus has version 4.3... So is it possible to port (or just install) this version to G1?
Thanks for any help and sorry for this thread.

I am new to XDA, new to the Nexus 7, and new to android on retail devices.
BUT I am a linux kernel developer - with a driver in the distribution kernel, and I have done android ports for development platforms.
So I am stupid on somethings and very sharp on others.
I need to do my own drivers for some devices for a Nexus 7.
Clearly others have been able to build kernels etc. for the Nexus 7 so that must be possible.
I am looking for pointers, howtos, ...
I already know how to write drivers, compile kernels - even for android.
I need to know where to get the config information for the Nexus 7, or a source tree specific to the Nexus 7,
as well as how to get a new kernel onto a retail device. I am used to putting android onto SD card and booting it on and unlocked device
Hi,
I came here looking for some help.
I've been tring for several hours to install the ubuntu 13.04 desktop on my Nexus 7 flo KTU84P(Wifi 2013) version.
I tried to install using fastboot (won't boot at all) and multirom (can't install). Does anyone has the preinstalled image
that actually works on the flo version of Nexus 7?
I couldn't install the grouper version on my flo device by my lack of expertise, so if there is anyone who can help me
with that, it would probably do the trick.
Thank you in advance,
Regards,
Jonathan.
There is no version of Ubuntu for the Nexus 7 2013 and you've posted it in the wrong forum. This is the Nexus 7 2012 forum.
My wife has a 3G capable Nexus 7 (2012) that has never been on a mobile network. We bought the Nakasig device in case we ever decided to get a SIM card for it. Well, we never needed to with all the WiFi hotspots.
We have been running bshiznit's Lollipop ROM (for Grouper) for a while and it is time for either an update, or a change. It has gotten laggy, so I'm going to clean it out and maybe start with a new ROM. She's also been getting some reboots. At the worst time. I blame all the kid's games and stuff.
I know there are edits that can be done to Grouper ROMs that bypass the device check done in TWRP, but I'd rather go with what is already available. Some Grouper ROMs will not install due to that check.
Is there a list of ROMs that will work on either device, or a list of Grouper ROMs that will work on a Tilapia device? Again, I am not interested in keeping the 3G functionality. Just want a WiFi ROM on a 3G device.
hey mate..
every ROM actually running on Grouper will run on Tilapia..
about the how-to I already replied a few days ago here on Candy5 thread, maybe you missed it: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59745701&postcount=168
se ya!
I have a Nexus 2012 (Grouper) with Timur's USB ROM / Cyanogenmod 10.1 on there (my brother installed this - it's installed in the car).
I would like to upgrade to a newer ROM (Cyanogen 12?) but unsure of compatibility - every website I've read seems to be information overload (I'm new to android world).
I've been told I need a ROM that supports a Y-split OTG cable which runs into a powered USB hub.
The reason I'm wanting to upgrade is for BLE compatibility as I believe from what I've read, that this is possible on the Grouper with more recent versions of Cyanogenmod

I don't utilize OTG on my Nexus 7 at all so I don't have an answer for you. What I can tell you is that you should probably try what I did, flash them all. Also I don't recommend any rom above android 4.4.x due to the very "slow" nature of the Nexus 7
What’s is the newest one that is under 4.4?
Hello,
a friend of mine owns the mentioned tablet in the subject. As we want to use both a specific app (Skydemon) on our tablet, unfortunately now it seems that this tablet is not compatible with its version 7 of android with this app (other tables are working fine with android 7 and skydemon), I am searching for a custom rom. In my opinion lenovo itself does not offer any more uprades to this tablet. Is tehere really also no custom rom available for this device?
By the way, what exactly is version 7504X? Is it a Tab7? Tab3 7? Tab 4 7? Lenovos name convention is really confusing for me ...
Cheers
