Hi All,
I acquired an S4 i9505 device (Live Demo Unit) and have installed a new motherboard in it as I wanted cell phone functionality etc.
Initially worked fine, but the device detected the firmware for the camera needed updating, did this and have had problems since.
First, I started getting Kernal Panic errors on startup and the device would hang on these.
After a number of attempts using Odin and various ROMS from sammobile, I am now out of options.
I am unable to get into the Android System Recovery menu (Power-Home=Vol Up) but the device hangs with these lines:
"Recovery Booting (In Blue)
Kernel Is Not Seandroid Enforcing (In Red)
Set Warranty Bit : Recovery" (In Yellow)"
Any advice welcome.

You get those lines if you have rooted/ installed custom recovery, and that's as much as I know. Good luck.
I'd re-install the stock firmware mate. start it from scratch rather than trying any custom roms etc. hope you get it sorted. nothing worse than having the phone and it not booting.

Hi everyone,
So what i recently did was i decided to install CF3D (Chainfire3D) on my S4 cause people claim that CF3D allows you to add the nvidia plugin to certain games so you can play those games with more special effects/higher graphics/textures. I installed CF3D and upon opening it, it told me to install a driver and i did so, then it told me it had to reboot and i let it reboot and then BAM, it bootsup and normally it takes like 5(+/-) seconds to show the main home screen so you can do stuff but this time it didn't do anything, i waited for about 15+ minutes and it still shows at the samsung logo with the blue glow around it and it doesn't show any error code neither does it do anything its just stuck.
Any help? How to fix?
EXTRA DETAILS :
-Phone : Samsung I9505 Galaxy S4
-Rooted? : Yes
-Memory? : 16gb + 4gb sdcard
-What App? : CF3D (Latest demo vers. from Play Store)
Thanks in advance.

Yeah i just read that bit, turns out they didnt put a sign on top of the description (Usually they put warnings in caps on top of playstore description) Aaaand they didnt add a not-compatibile-sign with your device thing like most apps have when they are not working for your device on the playstore, etc.
Well i found this tutorial to unbrick so im going to try that and try to have my s4 work again.
Well, live and learn. Always read up on stuff before you put it on your phone. You could try Odin but I don't think that works with cf 3d. If it's any consolation, you're not the first one to do what you did.

JTAG is for when you don't get any video output at all.

OP, you need to learn to read a little better.
First, you flashed something that did not say it was for your phone.
THen you post in a forum that is not even FOR your phone.

I clearly stated before the post that you just made, that the issue is solved and thus there is no reason to further comment on this thread and yeah i can understand your point but again if you are in a hurry and need to get something fixed fast i don't think you would bother seeing in which sub-category your issue falls under (Unless the error is very specific/etc)

I, as well as my neighbor have actually used Kies multiple times to bring back the stock ROM on our Samsung S2, S3, and i would assume the S4 as well.. All we did was procure the stock ROM and then use Kies to install it. That being said, as far as i know, you MUST link that particular phone to Kies, BEFORE you actually go through with the Root process. If you do not, there will be NO WAY for Kies to pick up your phone ie: model etc and thus most likely will not allow you to use it in Stock Recovery!!! Youve been warned lol ☺
Also, many, and i do mean many peeps have asked whether or not this method of root (motochopper) will work with android 4.4.2, yet no one has gotten a response...At least not in the 2yrs and 9 pages back that i checked... Could you PLEASE inform us, and maybe shoot me an email as to whether or not it will work...Until then, i am slightly worried it will not and wanted clarification!! Thank you so much!

Rooting Android using Motochopper on MAC?
I am carefully following all instructions along the way, until I download Motochopper.
It is a windows file, and I can't open it (.exe) on my MacBook Pro. Is there any intention to produce this program for us Applers?

As you might guess, I have Samsung Galaxy S4 with 4.4.2. I tried to download Motochopper onto my MacBook Pro only to discover that the zip file carried a windows program! (Is that true of all zip files? I have been switched to Mac for so long, I can't remember.)
I came here to get help, or maybe find Motochopper that was designed for Mac use. Then I saw your comment above. Two questions:
1. What does this mean? "Use towelroot on the nc1 firmware" Please illuminate and elucidate and HELP!
2. Can this be done via Mac?? :fingers-crossed:

Get on YouTube and search for "galaxy s4 loki ZedoMax". Watch his video and follow the directions to a T and you should have ShabbyPenguin's Clockwork mod recovery. I got it to work. You have to be on the MDL firmware, which is what you have if you used moto chopper to root.

trouble with motochopper and rooting
So I've used a couple good walkthroughs to root my Att galaxy s4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297033
and one other guide, from XDA (can't find the link)
both recommend using motochopper to root my phone and every time i have tried i receive the same message
{*}waiting for device
*daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037
*daemon started successfully
now in all the tutorial videos, the process takes 30 seconds to initiate and about 1-2 minutes to finish the process. My screen shows the above message and I've let it run all night. Any help on how to root my phone so i can remove my att bloatware and put on a custom system would be great
Steps I've taken so far and phone info
* searched multiple forums to find how to address this rooting issue (no success)
* phone has been unlocked from att themselves (phone is also paid off, contract is expired)
*developer options enabled
*USB debugging checked (enabled)
* updated drivers from samsung
*used keis to verify updates and to make sure everything is updated for rooting
*factory reset on phone with sim card removed

Galaxy Note 3 first time rooter
Hi everyone, newcomer here. Thanks for providing this community to help people out and thanks to Chainfire for making CF-Auto-Root.
I have a Galaxy Note 3, and I've never rooted before because I really like Touchwiz and the useful features it provides. I've read the main post for CF-Auto-Root, so I understand this is supposed to be the easiest root method that's supposed to retain stock Touchwiz and nothing more.
Before I take the plunge, I just wanted to clarify my understanding to make sure I really do want to go ahead with rooting my Note.
1. When you say CF auto root is rooting my phone, does that mean it's just achieving a "state of being" with the phone, and not really installing or modifying anything else with Touchwiz (besides SuperSU)? As in, everything is the same as before, Touchwiz is the same as before, and the only thing different is that I've gained permission to access more things in the software?
2. My understanding is that I shouldn't lose any data, apps, home screen app layouts, etc?
3. Will I lose any functionality in Touchwiz? Like S-Pen features, Samsung apps, etc?
4. If I receive an update to 4.4.4 or 5.0, will I lose this cf-auto-root state?
Thanks everyone for helping out!

CF-Auto-Root flashes custom recovery, which installs the su binary and SuperSU application and then sets back the default stock recovery. Everything else remains unchanged, including TouchWiz.

Most likely, though there is a chance, that su binary will not be removed, in that case you keep the root.

I know XDA is a reputable site, so I don't have to worry as much, but I know that theoretically speaking, downloading things outside of the official Android app store poses a risk for being malware or spyware.
So I'm only asking this in the spirit of just practicing utmost caution, how would I know that the CF-Auto-Root file, which can be found through the link below, is genuine and untampered with?

Hello friends of Xda developers, I come to put a little unsettling question; I have a tablet tab 4 8.0 (SM-T331) and recently we perform root to access the apk "ES File Explorer" but the question is not that, and I try to do the upgrade menu "About phone" but I indicates a message that "the operating system has been modified without permission and try for kies"; i was researching the subject and turned out to be that it has increased counter flash, good gave hope installing an apk called "TriangleAway", opened it and I found: in the section that reads the information from the flash was saying he did not have any counting flash, ie flash count is zero and the binary said "Custom", but when trying to reset strange and I said that was already reset.
On the other hand, in the download mode tablet showed me that flash count was 0x1 and binary said "Custom" and also in the status of the phone said "Modified".
I write because they do because I want to update OTA, if any solution, an apk or resetting with a computer application, I would be eternally grateful.
I hope an encouraging response.
Hey!!Could Anyone Upload dexdump file in /system/xbin/ ..Thanks in advance

This happens when your phone is modified and custom recovery is flashed.
I was also having the same problem. What I did was I installed triangle away app.
I reset the Flash counter and selected "allow tracker to run". The i Uninstalled busy box , then using universal Unroot app,I Uninstalled su. Then I flashed stock recovery. My device status changed to official. Then I updated my phone.
It worked with me..I don't know if it will work on your device. It depends upon how much you have modified your system.
Please see - you should first remove busy box then su...
sorry for bad English. ..

Why is all this necessary? For one update a year? Counter Knox still tripped. Simply leave everything as it is and make updates using the Odin .
Well I just shared my solution...We can also do through odin. ...
Btw can you please give me backup of bin folder....

Hello guys,
Haven't been on the forum since I rooted my s3 years ago. I have now got a redundant s8 which I am looking at stripping right back and rooting with the intention of using it as a portable music player. After having a look round the forum it's not very clea to me what method I use to root my s8 and what Rom to use.
This is my build number:
PPR1.180610.011.G950FXXU5DSHC.
Any suggestions would be helpful
Many thanks
Paddee

Odin kept getting stuck on setup connection etc. After a bit more research needed newer version of odin and to reinstall my phone drivers on my PC. Managed to get it flashed so just leaving it plugged into my pc for 7 days. Hopefully not having a sim in it for those 7 days will affect it? As I have my sim in my new phone. Thanks again!
