Wasn't sure where to post this, but I was wondering if anyone has posted a complete list of safe to freeze, disable or remove system apps?
I've had minute success at ridding my g900r4 of some unwanted bloat but I want to 100% clean this baby. That's just how I roll. Lol
Asked and answered many times in the forums. Just do a simple search on terms like debloat. Or alternately, read the descriptions in the initial posts of some custom ROM threads which often tabulate what they have debloated.

I have been searching but can't quite find any ROM that is simply Stock (all apps installed, etc.) that has been De-Odexed. Maybe I'm spelling it wrong in the search bar or perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology but I couldn't find one.
Move, delete or chastise if you feel this is the incorrect location or I'm repeating a request for something that I couldn't find.
Thank you.
I think this would be good to have too, I couldn't find it anywhere either.
This would be nice for me as well. I believe you have to have a deodexed ROM in order to install themes and certain other things. I don't need or want an all-inclusive ROM - if I want to remove system apps, install other apps, or make other changes, I prefer to do those things myself.
I would love this as well.
I just wanted to start a thread discussing the various script and mods people have installed... what do you feel have a benefit and how...
I am wondering if scripst like PurePerformance etc really have any more of an effect on our phone?
Hello everyone,
I apologize in advance for my spelling, i am from the netherlands so my english isn't perfect. :good:
Recently i've rooted my galaxy s4, i thought it would be almost the same as a jailbroken iphone (you'll get cydia and everything is done from there). But when i rooted my device i only got the app: SuperSU.
So my question is: what are my next steps for a rooted device.
The main reason i wanted to root my device is a battery life increase and the customisation options. But i have neither of those at the moment.
Does anyone know maybe a clean ROM where all the bloatware from samsung has been removed, and your left with only the touchwiz look? This will also increase my battery life i think. Or is there some kind of app who will delete all the unnecessary stuff from my device?
I hope someone can help me with this.
Well, if you want to debloat your stock rom I would recommend Kushan02 debloater script. You will need a custom recovery for this, like twrp or cwm.
If you want a minimal custom rom you have options, like goldeneye or imperium. Search and read the development section.

Thanks i will look into this, do you know a way to increase my battery life as well? Or will this problem be solved after i 'install' Kushan02?
Having a lighter rom can help with the battery life, but do not expect miracles.
What you can do is hunt for the apps that wake your phone from deep sleep; these wakelocks are usually the main cause of battery drain. Use betterbatterstats for that - and read the forums. Use greenify to freeze the culprits.
Then you can take advantage of the various governors that come with the custom roms and experiment with them- but I would say that the default ondemand that comes with stock has a pretty good record for battery life.
And you could also try an extended battery - if you can live with a thicker phone.
If you want better battery life I suggest you get a custom kernel. Those usually allow you to underclock and undervolt the device. Meaning less consumption.
You could also try a custom rom. Those offer the customization you seek. From what I saw, Resurrection Remix rom seems to be very customizable.
This a noob friendly thread to help people with some common questions. If the mods don't like this I apologize just trying to contribute.
Q... What is the first step in flashing a rom.
A... Backup of your boot.img or everything so you can safely return if a problem occurs.
Q... How do you flash a ROM?
A... ROM>gapps>kernel>root or alternatively if issues occur ROM>gapps>root>kernel
Q... Is a kernel/root necessary?
A... No on both I know one ROM that requires a kernel most don't reading the first page you will know. Root is only required if the ROM has force encryption and you don't want it or need root.
Q... How to unlock bootloader?
A... I'll link I'm a second post to motos website it has a detailed guide to do it through a few simple command promos.
Q... Where do I find all the features a ROM/kernel has?
A... The front page typically where the download button is at.
Q... How do I report a bug or problem?
A... Depends on the problem downloading a logcat app from the play store and sending the xml (text) is a good start. If more the bug isn't found there the dev is more then likely willing to help direct you to the files he needs.
Q... What tweaks do you use to get great battery life?
A... Honestly the phone has plenty but if you need that extra little juice the safest option would be using ex kernels power saving mode to dial down the core frequencies.
Q... Is the key n/a normal?
A... At first I thought I did something wrong but no need to fear a simple warning saying there is something custom ie twrp.
Q... My phones encrypted help!
A... A backup could save the phone if put on an SD card. You'll need to format and lose all data stored on the phone other then SD card so be warned.
Q... What's the best ROM?
A... Only you can answer this each ROM is unique and has custom featured tailored to different people. Need bare bones los has it need more aokp among many others have it. You get the point honestly just try it and see backups help here too.
Q... Was this phone a good purchase?
A... Thanks to the devs yes it is. Moto has skimped on updates lately but we still have 7.1.X because of them.
Q... Why is this X ROM unstable?
A... The devs are working hard some phones need to have six months to get los to even work so patience none of these roms are really unstable. The htc 10 didn't have BT for months and on los the dialer didn't even work but now fully functioning. So rest assured every darn bug will be squashed in time.
Q... Is the above mention stuff risky?
A... If it voids warranty yes then it is. Android has come a long way and it is however much safer now then every before to flash and root phones if there's a problem there is typically a fix. I do recommend new users to read as much as possible on risks and how tos first this is only a brief guide to the world of customs.
Q... Where do I find an answer to a problem I have?
A... While I'll support as many questions as I can in here I'd like you to do something's first. Search a thread that has some relative info say a twrp issue search the twrp thread. If that doesn't help google it and see then. Spend just five or so minutes and if no luck then come ask away in here.
Q... Why research when I can ask a question?
A... This is mainly because the people helping don't want to repeat too many times. However a response from someone can take time and it may not even be the answer you need so to save you time a little research ahead of asking the question could speed up fixing the problem.
Q... If I flash a kernel will it mess with twrp or firmware?
A... Twrp has its own kernel it runs on so kernel shouldn't mess it up. However it does mess with boot imagines so it could potentially do that rho highly unlikely. Firmware nope nothing you do really messes with that
This is by no means a complete list of things. This is tailored to our device so please keep it on such so I can help with device specific questions. If more needs to be added pm and I'll add it including suggestions and request for frequently asked questions I may have missed. Good luck on your journey cheers.

Hi!
I just rooted my stock Note 4 6.01 ... and I want to "clean" as much as possible.
What are the most obvious choices?
Thank you!

From my experience some things are connected to other ... and uninstalling things I think are not important might not be a good idea!
Has anyone made a "safe to remove" list? (assuming "normal usage" and not needing obscure features)
Because qkx suggested the removal of the bloatware, I want to share the experiences I made with removing bloatware:
I can say that removing all those "S-Apps" (e. g. S-Health and so on) will work fine - at least it worked completely fine for me. You might get some error messages popping up after you uninstalled bloatware apps, telling you that this and that stopped, but tap on "OK" once and they won't appear again most likely.
But I defenitely won't recommend removing Google apps like Google Books etc. After I did so, my phone started to get laggy and unresponsive.

Welcome to XDA, the search function works wonders. Here is a link to one, it has a list and a flashable script(s) http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/cwm-bloatware-removal-script-t3067501 . In my experience it is better to take the list then open the ROM that you want to flash and manually delete the files (most bloatware is in system/app and priv-app) that you don't want. After removing the files close the ROM and flash. This way you have a lightrom with only what you want. The list is only a guide, you may choose to keep features that the script creator did not want. There are more results in the search function you may want to read on the other results.

The list with the script are provided as a guideline. The creator makes it for his own use and kindly shares it. No one can make a script that suits your exact needs but you. Most of samsung bloatware is the same from 5.xx LP to 6.xx MM. Most ROMs are custom and some have been lighten pretty good even when they include S7/S8/N5/N8 features or apps. It will be up to you to get knowledgeable on what you don't need and remove it manually. Again if they are on the list of the scripts it is almost 100% it will not break anything. But as always make sure you have a backup of your ROM/files before you do anything with system files as a caution.GL
