You want to have sdext be an auxiliary or primary place the /data/app partition? You can't on the M. At least I never found it.
Best thing to do, on JellyBean, is use my SD swap & then, at least, internal memory will just be used for that, /data.
See my button for a link.

My experience has been that it's mostly images and music that eats up the space on the phone. This data can be moved manually to the sdcard and most apps that use it will have an option to look there by default. My experience with so-called sd swap programs is that they tend to be clunky and unreliable, and I've lost data that way, so I don't do it any more.
I have a crap ton of apps installed on my M, and to date have never had a storage issue, but as everyone uses their phone differently, that may not be your experience. For whatever reason, Android stopped supporting the ability to move apps to sd, and apparently, unless an app is specifically designed to do so, data to sd went as well.

I was able to do that, i don't understand why it wouldn't at yours. Try another app, and maybe transfer some data from your internal SD to you External SD.

I'm currently on V10K, CM10. But i used this app when i was on V10K: AppMgr III (App 2 SD) by Sam Lu. Maybe the app your trying to move is in use or protected (by some sort of protection). I never had this problem, i'm sorry I can't help you...
Yea, i use it too. Look:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/130416/6gsa4qli.jpg
But thank you
This damn device has emulated sd storage ,those 2.7GB and for example all sd files of games go there and that space just isnt enough , if you have rootated phone you can try directory bind if you need more space for games files. Just look up how to use it. I hope one day I will be able to use external sd as normal storage.
i have the same eerror . oh my. .hope someone help us fix this error,,
Link2SD and 2nd partition pn SD
You will look for link2sd. The phone has to be rooted.
You will make a second partition to the sd.
Then link2sd will do the rest as soon it is set to automatically send data to the sd.
You will notice that most part of the p that you install will go to the second partition of the sd.
Sorry i have no permission tp send the link
Email me at [email protected], i will send you the link
It succeded to me.
But then i get the Insufficient storage available Message.
Do you know how to overcome that....?

Better to use rom toolbox pro.. it can solve ur problem..in link2sd only support custom kernel..
.for partitioning also
I tryed to create a second partition with ROM Manager, but link2sd says that tere was no second partition found.
link2sd only support custom kernel w/ swap

Hi there to all, this is my first post in this magnificent community so i hope not to post this in wrong place..........my question is related to Move to sdcard option in recents FW uptades for S4 (mine is i9500), anyone knows if this option is moving the whole selected app or just its data??? i was making some test moving a couple of apps (like games and other stuff) from internal memory to external sdcard (64gb) and it appears to move just the data, I think this way because after using this option, the memory space used in internal memory by the moved application has not been released, at least not more than a couple of MegaBytes, the same for external sdcard wich is not being loaded with full app size just a couple of MB too, however moved apps are not accesible when extSDcard is removed. So im a little confused how it works, so maybe u can help with this doubt......thanks in advance.

The option that is available in the stock firmware moves the app (not data) to the external SD. In the case of for example Real Racing this is only 9.45mb.. This of course is useless. The app FolderMount ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount) can also move the game data to your external SD which will be something like 2gb in the case of real racing! This does require Root though. FolderMount is already enough reason to root your Sgs4!

Are there also options which do not require root ? Reason is that my company blocks access to my work email account on rooted phones.
And I do not want to carry two phones around.
I tried it with contractkiller 2 but when done it want to download the obb again

I am having a serious issue.
On ES Explorer it shows:
I have a 64GB memory card in the phone and it has 18GB free
Internally of the 32GB I have 11GB free.
However, when I go to the Storage option it shows that I only have 1.25GB free on my internal card. This number goes to 200mb when Google Drive is installed:
Applicatiuons-2.71gb
Picutres,videos 424mb
Why is there such a massive discrepancy? Anyone have any idea how I can fix this? When I open Miscellaneous files it says System Memory 28GB then Whatsapp 749MB and Canon CW 650MB. Ok lets say I delete that but where is the other 28GB? See Misc files below. It has to be reading incorrectly in someway since my file apps show a lot more data free.
Google Drive shows 832mb used - in the app it says max cache size 50mb. All I can think is that I uploaded a 800mb video file to my drive from my phone and now its downloading this. I deleted the cache but when I start the drive back up it goes back to 800mb
found a .pictures folder but it had 1GB. After deleting available data stays the same.
I am really at a loss here, ES file explorer states I have 11GB free anyone?
How in the world is Miscellaneous files using 28GB!?!? Come on, its obviously being read incorrectly and causing me issues

What ROM are you on?
It seems that you have 30GB of "Misc files" - if you click on those you should get more details.
Also in the future make an effort and post in Q/A stuff that is exclusively about your problems.

Ok,
When I click Misc files it just shows System Memory 28.1GB, System Storage has to be reading this incorrectly somehow

Downloaded the analyzer app:
It shows everything basically free I can't figure this out, the only thing I can thing of is look at my 2 system partitions /system /data but those have a lot free too.
Phone is using Jelly Beans custom rom v5
Android Base 4.3
Baseband is: N900VVRUBMJE
Safestrap is on, how would I move the rom to the stock slot? Someone mentioned that if its not this is the cause of the issue... Doesn't make sense but is there a way to move it?

SD card damage, from 2gb --> 500mb.. does anyone know how to fix it? ive used AParted in partitioning.
download minitool partition wizard for windows
use it to delete any partitions on your sd card
create a new partition of fat32
then once it created and you want to use it in your phone just reformat it on your phone from your phone settings/storage (need to press unmount sd card first)
if your sd card is still in working order it will work
note doing this will delete any data you have on your sd card
If you have card reader more better

well you can look at the manifest - you will need to resign the app if you change it
also the game must be for armv6 and android 2.3.6 or below unless you are running cm9 then 4.04 or below (but cm9 currently has no audio and I dont know if games run on it) - it wont install at all if the game is for amv7 only
and a game of 100mb is probably hd or armv7 only so even if you do get it installed the chance of it running smoothly on a galxy y 5360 is slim

you mistake physical internel storage with virtual internal storage
just becase you have a 2nd sd card partition of xyz doesnt mean your internal storage increases - it doesnt - it stays exactly the same - this is physical storage - it never changes
what you are doing is creating virtual internal storage on your sd card - apps installed here act like they are on physical internal storage
you still need a large ammount of physical internel storage to install the app before it is moved/linked to virtual storage plus data is still stored on physical storage

thanks for that info, now i know that i cant install it.. sad..
but is it possible to increase internal memory? i checked my friends phone again and it really is 2.20GB internal memory
SG mini pocket..
Like what marcussmith said, it is virtual storage. Once he removes the SD card, the internal storage will return to its actual value.
If you REALLY want to increase internal storage legitimately, you will need to break the phone apart and replace the storage devices within. It would be better to buy a new phone than go through all the fuss just to increase physical legit storage and also the cost of buying the new storage might be enough to buy another phone...
And also you must find a storage device that fits into the casing of the phone. Wouldn't it be awkward using a phone with the chipsets bulging out of the phone casing?

Hi, can anyone explain to me this app and how to make it work? Didn't find any good up to date tutorial.
Here is some info:
-I have TWRP rooted stock rom (SM-G935F)
-SanDisk extreme pro 64gb microSD card
-Plus version of Link2SD
-Pro version of MiniTool Partition wizard
Just can't make it work...So here are my questions:
-Can I use whole SD card as internal storage link? Or do I need 2 partitions, one classic mass storage, second one for linking? I am not planning to remove card from phone.
-Do I have to make some storage label in MiniTool, or can I keep it blank? And what about partition letter? For example G: , or can I set None?
-Can I use linked storage partition from computer via cable as MTP?
-What partitions are viable for S7 edge? And is there speed difference? (ext2/ext3/ext4) ... I was trying Fat32+ext4 and then whole card as ext4, phone always tells me card is broken and need format and I am at beginning again.
-If I somehow manage to make this phone to recognise it, how to actually use Link2SD app?
There are some topics and videos out there, but I didn't find anything up to date or in english.
Keep in mind I am just ordinary user who somehow managed to root his phone only becouse of this app - to expand low internal storage, without any knowledge about android, linux and filesystems. I just need to move some huge games to SD completly with obb.
Thanks for any advice.
Im having the the same issue with using Link2SD on my SM-G935F... Ive tried partitioning the sd card in every possible combination and still get a 'corrupt storage'' issue from the ext extention partition when rebooting my handset. From what I can tell its the actual Samsung firmware thats been rewritten to read the external storage differently due to their lack of foresite of allowing adoptable storage (code written out of their versions of Marshmellow 6.0 +, same as Sony for the Xperia range)... Fingers crossed a work around is found sooner rather than later as Link2SD is a lifesaver for releasing data and obb files from internal storage
I don't really know but I think the ext SD card is used as storage and even with solid explorer and similar file managers you have to grant permission before deleting or even creating a folder else it'll fail so I think you have to configure adoptable storage in order to be recognize as part of SD card to be used with Link2SD and also I haven't seen an update for Link2SD for a very long time.

I also have the same problem. I tried ext2 and ext4 as the second partition. Allowing 4GB until 1.5GB partition because according to the old guides, it can only process up to 1.5GB of second partition. But still, it always says it's corruted, there was a time when It was successfully read by the app but after restart, the problem returns. There was even a time where the FAT32 partition was the one that is not recognized
Sooooooooooo....
is there any solution to this yet ? cannot find Anything STILL !

Same here. Link2sd is not working (mount script error) anymore on S7 Edge (SM-G935FD). System crashed and did factory reset. Hope this issue could resolve soon.
I have the same problem, witch I think is specifically for this model (SM-G935F). Its seems that even rooted, it has some security on system folders, that prevents necessary mounts be done
I tried a mod where I can use the sd card to be seen as internal memory, but that mod pushes all apps to the sd card, and if affect performance of apps like facebook and other apps I use daily
in my previous phones I used to use linl2sd and I was in control which apps to link to sd card, and I would never choose facebook or whatapp , I used to link big games only
Is there a way to make link2sd work on s7e instead of the silly mod that pushes all apps to sdcard
